00:00:00.000 Rob, can you go to the Instagram post and watch who commented on this Instagram post,
00:00:03.800 which was kind of interesting.
00:00:05.100 So I posted this.
00:00:06.560 This happened at SLS.
00:00:07.680 We're having dinner.
00:00:08.480 Tom, you weren't with us.
00:00:10.160 We're at Flagler's.
00:00:11.440 Paula's sitting next to me.
00:00:12.400 Jen's sitting to my left. 0.98
00:00:13.340 And I spoke to this very successful man who has three daughters who all told him they
00:00:17.700 have no plans of having kids.
00:00:19.400 Okay?
00:00:19.980 Good man.
00:00:20.620 Makes a lot of money.
00:00:21.560 Very successful.
00:00:23.040 Their careers combined with today's societal pressures has caused them to second-guess
00:00:27.320 starting families.
00:00:28.720 Anyways, this mindset has become increasingly common.
00:00:31.740 There's nothing in life that compares to having children.
00:00:34.420 All the money in the world, all the accolades, all the items checked off the checklist,
00:00:38.640 none of it comes close to the experience, Rob, if you can go a little bit lower so I can read
00:00:42.680 that on that side, to having and raising kids.
00:00:45.200 Okay?
00:00:45.560 So I say that.
00:00:46.880 And then look, our friend here goes on the comment section, Rob, if you can go there on
00:00:50.400 Instagram.
00:00:50.900 I don't know if you see it or not.
00:00:52.260 I screen grabbed it.
00:00:53.360 Okay, right there.
00:00:54.700 AOC comments.
00:00:55.520 And she says the United States is one of the only developed countries in the world that
00:00:59.320 doesn't support new mothers and parents with federal paternal leave.
00:01:05.140 If we want to talk to pro-family talk, we need to walk the walk by supporting paid paternal 0.99
00:01:10.080 leave and guaranteed health care like the rest of the developed world, invest in affordable
00:01:14.460 child care and public education.
00:01:16.620 Her and I went back and forth in our DMs.
00:01:18.240 We've been communicating for quite some time here.
00:01:20.180 But we had an interesting exchange together.
00:01:23.880 Tom, when you hear this, three daughters, you got two daughters.
00:01:27.420 Imagine if Bailey and Brooke says that we don't want to have kids, right?
00:01:30.240 What that feels like.
00:01:31.380 And number two, why we got here and what reasoning she's making.
00:01:34.540 What do you say to that?
00:01:35.240 So, point one, my daughters are not allowed to buy in into this.
00:01:46.300 And I shouldn't say not allowed.
00:01:47.580 My daughters don't buy into this because I give them the facts and the rationale for why 0.96
00:01:52.940 we have families and what we do going forward.
00:01:55.280 And so, and I point out the pitfalls and all the headwinds and everything you're going to
00:01:59.680 face.
00:02:00.300 Point one.
00:02:00.860 Point two, for people to say, you know, my daughters aren't going to have kids, I understand
00:02:06.740 the logic.
00:02:07.580 They look at this world.
00:02:08.680 They look at everything that's going on.
00:02:09.940 They look at themselves as having to go, you know, raise a family and the complexities
00:02:13.800 and what that's going to cost.
00:02:14.940 And they see that.
00:02:16.160 And they don't have someone like me sitting next to them with an alternative point of view
00:02:20.500 because they have a, the guy you're talking about is a smart guy with smart daughters.
00:02:24.500 But I'm telling my daughters, listen, you can have your career and you can grow this.
00:02:28.100 Let me tell you about Jennifer.
00:02:28.920 Jennifer, I sat side by side with Jennifer.
00:02:31.440 She had kids and we worked together with a very fast moving and very complicated company
00:02:36.600 and it's still there.
00:02:38.380 And I'll tell you, you know, I see how it worked and that's how I feel.
00:02:44.760 Now, the other side here, I don't think the ultimate solution is, oh, the governor's, the
00:02:50.560 government swoops in and says, we have to have forced parental leave. 0.79
00:02:54.340 Companies have to have this expense.
00:02:56.000 And then while we have to have guaranteed health care, the rest of the world, that's
00:03:00.320 a whole difference.
00:03:01.400 She's inserting a sentence there.
00:03:02.680 And that's a program I'd like to debate her on because guaranteed health care like the 1.00
00:03:06.880 rest of the world.
00:03:07.380 Let's pull that out.
00:03:08.700 She's talking about affordable child care and paid parental leave.
00:03:12.260 So she's saying that the government is the solution.
00:03:15.180 And I just don't disagree with that.
00:03:16.720 I just don't disagree that just keep dipping into the ladle and handing it out from what?
00:03:21.280 Taxing everybody else.
00:03:22.340 You create this circle where people conclude, man, this is so complex.
00:03:26.240 I'm not going to have kids.
00:03:27.820 That's just so I think I think she's being she's rational from her own point of view.
00:03:33.580 But I disagree with it.
00:03:35.040 I think it creates an unintended consequences the other way.
00:03:38.240 Well, I don't want to cause World War three over this topic.
00:03:41.020 Again, you're not going to go for it.
00:03:42.360 But I do want to say that there's part of what AOC saying is right.
00:03:45.760 And then she lumps in a whole other stuff of, you know, single pair of health care and all this. 0.88
00:03:50.320 I think we do need.
00:03:51.100 What did you say? 0.97
00:03:51.960 What the hell? 0.79
00:03:54.740 I'm so on edge on this topic. 0.87
00:03:57.120 I'm so freaking on edge on this topic.
00:03:59.400 I'm like, women can choose to do whatever they want. 1.00
00:04:02.340 They can do no wrong.
00:04:04.240 Adam, you should be saying it this way.
00:04:05.660 I don't want to call World War me.
00:04:07.360 Meaning you.
00:04:08.300 That's true.
00:04:08.800 Go.
00:04:09.340 Yeah.
00:04:09.640 But I will say something about this.
00:04:11.000 Listen, I love you ladies out there.
00:04:12.900 I applaud you for whatever decisions you make.
00:04:16.300 I will say this.
00:04:17.560 There is an overall movement with the modern feminism movement to prioritize your career over having a family. 1.00
00:04:27.380 And that might work in your 20s and maybe in your early 30s.
00:04:31.120 But talk to me when you're 40 and you got a great job and no man and no husband and no kids and no family.
00:04:38.440 That could get very sad.
00:04:39.700 And I'm not even saying that you need to do this.
00:04:44.220 I'm saying the mentality, the Chelsea Handler mentality is what I think people need to overcome.
00:04:50.420 That's no secret.
00:04:51.320 Men can start later. 0.91
00:04:52.440 But I don't see many men saying, I never want to have kids.
00:04:56.000 That's not what I want to do.
00:04:57.060 I see them saying, you just said you would let me speak.
00:04:59.640 No, no.
00:04:59.840 I'm just saying, yeah.
00:05:00.660 Breathe in.
00:05:01.160 Because it's 1131.
00:05:01.920 But I will say that choosing the career over the family, I think, will come to bite you in the end.
00:05:09.700 One last thing.
00:05:10.460 As you start to make more money, you almost shrink the dating pool because of something called hypergamy.
00:05:16.000 And women want to date up. 1.00
00:05:17.860 Pat gave me a whole book on this.
00:05:19.140 It basically changed my mindset about this.
00:05:20.940 But as women focus on their career, they make more money, their dating pool shrinks, and basically who they think qualify for them will shrink as well. 1.00
00:05:29.280 I just think women need to be very, very cautious about dedicating your entire life to your career and not end up having a family. 1.00
00:05:37.540 My last piece of advice, go talk to women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who have done that and ask them if they would do anything different. 0.99
00:05:46.340 That's my advice.
00:05:47.080 All right.
00:05:47.760 Fair.
00:05:48.300 I think that's good.
00:05:49.480 Good for you.
00:05:50.240 You did that without disrespecting any women.
00:05:52.100 Yeah.
00:05:52.720 Nice.
00:05:52.820 And that was awesome.
00:05:53.580 Listen, chick.
00:05:54.360 Here's the chicken.
00:05:54.800 I'm actually very impressed by the way you handled that.
00:05:58.040 Good for you.
00:05:58.660 And there was a point right up front.
00:06:00.040 So this lemon campaign that we launched on Thursday with the box that was launched that all of you guys, many of you saw, those of you that didn't, this box that's being shipped to people who are going through a lot of different things today to make their day.
00:06:13.120 When life gives you lemons, make lemonade with a lemon hat in it and a presentation with a video of me speaking to them, giving them a message here.
00:06:21.040 I'm going to press pause here.
00:06:23.000 There was so many accountants.
00:06:25.920 One accountant sent it to 11 clients, lawyers, realtors, insurance folks using it.
00:06:31.120 But then we had a chance to read the note of what some people were writing to their clients.
00:06:36.620 I'm not going to give the names.
00:06:37.760 I just want to read the notes to you.
00:06:39.000 It was so, our staff is, when I'm reading this, our marketing team, they're in tears.
00:06:43.840 Literally, when I'm reading this to them, I'm not going to say the name.
00:06:47.560 Okay.
00:06:48.320 They put the name there.
00:06:49.560 It then says, sending you some love to help lift your heart up today.
00:06:53.340 And wanted to say, again, how sorry I am with Susan's passing.
00:06:57.360 I hope this cheers you up, your spirits, just for a moment.
00:07:01.100 I love you, sister.
00:07:02.260 And always remember to move forward.
00:07:04.220 Flowers don't happen without rain.
00:07:05.960 Love you always.
00:07:07.200 The name is in there.
00:07:08.580 Are you kidding me?
00:07:09.900 Okay.
00:07:10.360 Then it goes here.
00:07:11.360 Me and you forever together.
00:07:13.220 Put your goals always in front of you.
00:07:15.160 Surround yourself with one quality, with people you become, who you're with.
00:07:19.260 Thank you for your friendship.
00:07:20.380 Here's another one.
00:07:20.980 Love you, brother.
00:07:22.040 Hope you like this.
00:07:22.840 Greatest podcast ever.
00:07:24.320 You not only being a father, a husband, and a brother, you are also a policeman.
00:07:29.380 You have so much you deal with on a day-to-day basis, but you still show up for your family.
00:07:34.120 I not only love you, I respect you.
00:07:36.540 I'm telling you, the more I was reading these notes, the more emotional we were getting ourselves.
00:07:41.320 I love the fact that the Valuetainment audience is taking time to order something to ship to somebody else to make their day.
00:07:51.200 How awesome is this that we're doing this?
00:07:53.640 So for all of you guys that placed your order, I love the fact that you're doing this.
00:07:57.760 We're wired the same exact way.
00:07:59.580 You can pick and choose the hats, whether it's the white one, the black one, or the green one when you're sending out to them.
00:08:04.300 There's still a few left if you haven't done it yet on the Lemon Campaign, especially with everything that people are going on right now.
00:08:09.300 Go to vtmerch.com, place your order, and then also for the mothers out there, you asked for it.
00:08:15.160 We wanted to do it.
00:08:16.220 We know this audience is 80% men, but 20% women.
00:08:20.020 It used to be 90%.
00:08:21.120 The female audience has grown in a major way.
00:08:22.900 Rob, if you want to play the clip, Mother's Day is around the corner next week, and we got a bunch of VT mom gear, stuff that's out there.
00:08:30.920 You know, mama, today I love you.
00:08:32.940 VT mom, future looks bright.
00:08:35.080 Here's one that I like a lot that's also on the site, VT mama.
00:08:38.720 This is another one that we have.
00:08:42.120 Value taming mama that we got out there. 0.99
00:08:45.140 It's awesome.
00:08:46.060 So, you know, we wanted to make sure that men, ladies typically do the shopping for us. 1.00
00:08:51.100 We're not good at this stuff.
00:08:52.600 Go place an order for mothers out there that are doing the right thing.
00:08:57.140 They're going out of their way, and you're seeing how hard they're working.
00:08:59.900 Every order you place, they're going to get a VT mom keychain, and then if you place an order above $100, it's the VT mom keychain,
00:09:06.500 plus this mug that says VT mom, and it explains a sophisticated achiever that is always there for you no matter what.
00:09:14.120 Moms, love you. 1.00
00:09:16.120 Place an order for the mothers out there that watch PBD Podcast and Valuetainment. 0.93
