Valuetainment - ＂Trump WON China's Chess Game＂ - Bessent & Lutnick ANNOUNCE Major Trade Deal With China

00:00:00.000 Trump locks in China trade deal, keeping pressure on Beijing, and this is a big story.

00:00:09.380 The Trump administration finalized a trade deal with China, securing commitments from Beijing to export rare earth minerals,

00:00:15.400 vital to U.S. manufacturing, as Commerce Secretary Howard Lutton told Bloomberg, he has this video here, Rob, if you want to play this clip, go for it.

00:00:22.800 Mr. Secretary, you just said that you're going to announce a whole bunch of deals over the course of the next week.

00:00:27.420 With what countries? And does that include the China deal the president suggested was signed yesterday? What is that?

00:00:34.600 So the China deal, we inked the deal. You remember we had a trip to Geneva, and then that was being slow played.

00:00:44.640 We got back together in London, and that deal was signed and sealed two days ago.

00:00:50.020 The president just said it just the other, just, you know, I don't know, 15 minutes ago.

00:00:54.820 And then he also suggested that we are, of course, at the very close finish line with India.

00:01:00.400 Of course, the way these deals happen is their prime minister and their parliament have to approve it, and the president likes to close these deals himself.

00:01:08.340 I mean, he's the dealmaker. He loves to close it. I think we have deal after deal after deal.

00:01:14.080 The president's going to make his calls. He's going to decide exactly the finishing touches on them.

00:01:18.420 And then what we're going to do is we're going to lay out a structure of all the different kinds of tariff arrangements with different countries, right?

00:01:27.120 There are countries with huge deficits. There are countries that are balanced.

00:01:30.500 We're going to set that...

00:01:31.240 Rob, can we go hear what Scott Besson had to say about this?

00:01:34.180 Because this is obviously a very big news that a lot of people are looking for with the China trade war.

00:01:38.740 Go for it here.

00:01:39.240 I know the rare earth minerals was a huge improvement after your conversations.

00:01:45.940 Can you tell us about this agreement with China? What exactly does it entail?

00:01:50.440 I love the way Besson speaks.

00:01:51.820 Sure. And look, Maria, this is what leadership looks like under President Trump.

00:01:58.100 We've got peace deals. We've got trade deals. We've got tax deals.

00:02:01.800 And in dealing with the world's second largest economy, we approached each other with mutual respect.

00:02:07.920 Perfect for this job. 0.91

00:02:08.400 President Trump set the table with a very important call with party chair Xi.

00:02:15.280 They have a very good relationship.

00:02:17.820 We had trade talks in Geneva toward moving toward the agreement in London.

00:02:25.060 Part of the agreement was tariffs coming down and rare earth magnets starting to flow back to the U.S.

00:02:33.740 They formed the core of a lot of our industrial base.

00:02:36.880 They were not flowing as fast as previously agreed.

00:02:41.220 President Trump and President Xi had a phone call.

00:02:45.600 And then our teams met in London, ironed this out.

00:02:49.620 And I am confident now that we, as agreed, the magnets will flow.

00:02:56.940 In the meantime, we had put countermeasures versus the Chinese. 1.00

00:03:02.420 Tom, how close are we? How important is this? How big could this be?

00:03:05.660 This is very important. This is very close.

00:03:07.420 But remember, what he said was this is a trade deal.

00:03:11.160 This is not the complete trade deal.

00:03:13.120 And what's very, very important here, he mentioned rare earth minerals and magnets more than once.

00:03:18.560 Why? It's the same thing we were negotiating in Greenland.

00:03:21.540 It's a simple amount. Greenland, we just have a deal with them. 1.00

00:03:23.660 Now we got to build a mill and dig down in there and you do all that.

00:03:27.200 And Greenland's not done.

00:03:28.620 And Ukraine, part of the areas where they have the rare earth stuff is there's bombs flowing back and forth.

00:03:33.880 And that has to stop.

00:03:35.200 But the rare earth deal in Ukraine was important.

00:03:38.920 And that's what they're doing here.

00:03:39.840 But here, China has the rare earth minerals coming out of the ground, being turned into magnets, and he wanted to get those flowing back.

00:03:47.040 So here's what happened.

00:03:48.180 We put the tariffs in place and then they slowed down shipping the rare earth.

00:03:53.900 We were trying to get backup plans with Ukraine and Greenland for rare earth.

00:03:59.620 But remember, that was, Pat, you know, first you got to build all the infrastructure.

00:04:03.860 You need to get it out of the ground and make it usable.

00:04:05.820 Well, guess what we did.

00:04:08.380 We went back to them and it was a product called ethane.

00:04:12.000 And we covered it on the podcast before.

00:04:14.040 Ethane is a root chemical that becomes plastic.

00:04:19.240 And they need it and they need lots of it.

00:04:21.880 And we have massive, massive reserves of it.

00:04:26.360 So, yep.

00:04:27.840 And it becomes plastic.

00:04:30.920 So, the need for plastic and chip software by China.

00:04:36.320 So, it went like this.

00:04:37.300 It's a chess board.

00:04:39.000 Hey, here come the tariffs.

00:04:40.500 All right.

00:04:41.200 Well, your magnet and rare earths are going to slow down.

00:04:44.380 You get fewer of those.

00:04:45.700 All-American industry.

00:04:46.900 Mr. President, we can't get the rare earth stuff.

00:04:48.640 He's got to help us out.

00:04:49.940 Just a minute.

00:04:50.720 I'm negotiating with him.

00:04:52.140 And he says, hang on.

00:04:52.920 I got an idea.

00:04:54.360 Shut down ethane and shut down and put restrictions on chip software.

00:04:58.860 That's our chess move. 0.99

00:05:00.280 Now, China, making all kinds of things out of plastic, goes, crap. 0.99

00:05:04.040 All right. 0.98

00:05:04.580 I'll meet you in Geneva.

00:05:05.800 I just compressed two months into that.

00:05:08.560 You see how that worked?

00:05:09.520 And they met in Geneva and they got it together.

00:05:11.840 Now then, ready for this?

00:05:13.900 The asterisk at the end of the sentence, if you dive down into this, if the rare earth

00:05:19.960 magnets start flowing at the quantities they promised, only then will we declare that China 0.88

00:05:28.460 has fulfilled its promises and the ethane will flow the other way.

00:05:33.200 So we are not, what we are doing is we are doing Ronald Reagan trust but verify.

00:05:39.340 Okay.

00:05:39.920 Sign here.

00:05:40.540 Sign here.

00:05:41.560 Sometimes trade deals aren't worth the paper they're written on.

00:05:44.920 Well, guess what?

00:05:45.980 We will let the ethane go and we will reduce the chip software in line as soon as they start

00:05:53.960 actually flowing the magnets.

00:05:55.420 So I think this is a very good starting point and we have reason to be happy.

00:06:00.920 And by the way, just look at the stock market.

00:06:03.240 The stock market likes it too because with these magnets flowing back to American manufacturers,

00:06:09.100 now they can keep the prices down of the products that they're making.

00:06:13.640 So I think this was a really cool chess game and later we will be looking at it back and

00:06:19.980 forth, I think, as a case study of how to do it.

00:06:22.180 Thank you, Tom.

00:06:22.620 That's great.

00:06:23.020 Can you go to one month, Rob?

00:06:24.560 Okay.

00:06:25.000 That's what the last month looks like, folks.

00:06:27.220 Look at that.

00:06:28.180 That's what the last one month looks like.

00:06:29.300 Go to six months, it's going to be different.

00:06:31.920 That's six months.

00:06:33.040 Okay.

00:06:33.200 Remember the low, 38,000?

00:06:35.420 Drop below 38, 37.

00:06:37.560 From 37, now it's what?

00:06:39.580 44, 294.

00:06:40.740 And by the way, if...

00:06:41.880 This is broad-based Dow.

00:06:43.020 It's even worse if you look at S&P.

00:06:44.700 That's right.

00:06:45.180 Yeah.

00:06:45.860 If this continues, the tariffs, the when it comes, I keep saying this.

00:06:51.320 If they get this deal in, 2026, the enemy is going to try to do everything in their

00:06:58.320 power to make Trump look bad, divide internally, everything in their power to do so.

00:07:05.720 But 2026 could be the greatest years for many of you, of your lives, of your lives.

00:07:13.060 If you do it right, I think 2026 is going to be an IPO year.

00:07:16.640 I think 2026 is going to be an aggressively successful year for a lot of people that play

00:07:21.760 offense.

00:07:22.960 And I'm very optimistic about it.

00:07:24.280 Tom, Adam, your thoughts before we go to the next story.

00:07:26.600 I fully agree with you on this.

00:07:28.080 So we were just talking about the New York City potential mayor, Zorn Mandani.

00:07:31.320 And if you want to understand him, go read the book, The Communist Manifesto by Karl

00:07:36.900 Marks.

00:07:37.260 You'll get a good, deep understanding to that guy's mindset.

00:07:40.380 Now, if you're a world leader or somebody, even domestic, that wants to understand the

00:07:44.220 mindset of Donald Trump, well, go read one book.

00:07:47.860 And that book is The Art of the Deal.

00:07:49.280 And in The Art of the Deal, he basically breaks it down into five key points.

00:07:53.420 He says, think big, maximize leverage, know your market, use the press, which Trump does

00:08:00.220 better than anyone, some may say.

00:08:02.680 And then number five, protect your downside and have unlimited upside.

00:08:06.780 Everything that Scott Besson just said, by the way, I think he's got a very cool, calm,

00:08:10.820 collective demeanor, which is almost like the opposite of like how Howard Lutnick is.

00:08:15.980 He's a little more brash, a little more bold.

00:08:17.560 I think that's a good one-two punch negotiating these deals.

00:08:20.080 But everything he talks about is in the framework of a deal.

00:08:23.120 All right, whether it's peace deals, whether it's trade deals, whether it's tax deals.

00:08:27.800 Now they're talking about real earth mineral deals, hostage deals.

00:08:32.200 Everything's a deal.

00:08:33.260 And when you're a dealmaker, anything's on the table.

00:08:36.960 So I have one friend, you know him, Keith.

00:08:39.480 He has an uncle who's a billionaire, right?

00:08:41.540 Yep.

00:08:42.020 And he still works his tail off every single day.

00:08:44.500 I go, why is he still working?

00:08:46.060 He's 70-something years old.

00:08:47.780 He goes, dude, he loves it.

00:08:49.380 He's a deal junkie.

00:08:50.220 He loves it.

00:08:51.400 You know, Pat, you always talk about the love of the game.

00:08:53.080 Hey, are you doing this for money?

00:08:54.640 Are you doing this for the love of the game?

00:08:56.300 Trump is not doing this for money.

00:08:58.500 Trump is doing it because he loves making deals.

00:09:01.340 So in my opinion, Trump, he's working on the biggest deals he's ever worked on in his life.

00:09:06.000 And a lot of them are coming to fruition now.

00:09:08.460 So God bless America.

00:09:09.920 Yeah, well, keep at it.

00:09:10.800 We'll see what happened there.

00:09:11.800 The range of people that follow the Future Looks Bright, it's absolutely amazing.

00:09:26.440 And if you do as well, you love the brand, Vieta Amen.
