00:02:56.240 coming out of Minnesota.
00:02:57.500 Everyone's talking about it.

00:03:05.660 But what was shocking was how fast the numbers grew
00:03:09.560 in the size of this fraud.
00:03:11.480 Early on, people were saying it's a billion-dollar fraud.
00:03:13.920 That has now exploded at nine-plus billion.
00:03:16.500 They expect to find even more.
00:03:18.100 The FBI director, Cash Patel, has said
00:03:20.200 they believe this is the tip of a very large iceberg.
00:03:22.840 And we're seeing other fraud schemes are being exposed
00:03:26.140 in other states as well as we speak.
00:03:28.500 Yeah, look, I got to say, as scandals go,
00:03:30.780 this is one that should really piss you off.
00:03:34.040 It is outrageous on so many different levels.
00:03:38.240 If you look at what's been uncovered in Minnesota
00:03:40.680 in the last several years,
00:03:42.000 Minnesota's total Medicaid budget was about $18 billion.
00:03:45.980 The Department of Justice is reporting that more than half of that,
00:03:49.280 more than $9 billion, may well be fraudulent.
00:03:52.280 People are being prosecuted.
00:03:54.160 And then we covered in the most recent podcast,
00:03:57.060 an independent YouTuber, a 23-year-old guy named Nick Shirley,
00:04:01.520 went and started going down the list of daycare centers
00:04:04.880 that were receiving millions and millions of dollars
00:04:07.500 from the Minnesota taxpayers.
00:04:09.080 And he started showing up to the daycare centers.
00:04:11.240 And he videoed the whole thing.
00:04:12.780 And in our last pod, we went through that video in detail.
00:04:15.440 If you haven't watched that video,
00:04:17.340 it's had now over 100 million views.
00:04:19.780 It has gone viral.
00:04:21.800 And he simply would knock on the doors.
00:04:23.800 In many of the instances, the doors were locked.
00:04:25.820 There was no one there.
00:04:27.080 Virtually everyone he attended, the doors were blacked out.
00:04:29.540 The windows were blacked out.
00:04:30.580 You couldn't see.
00:04:31.640 And the consistent pattern at daycare,
00:04:34.520 after daycare, after daycare was no kids.
00:04:36.800 There were no kids.
00:04:37.820 He kept trying to enroll a child.
00:04:40.460 They're like, no, no, no, no.
00:04:41.100 We can't do that.

00:04:42.400 And the pattern we've seen, this is overwhelmingly Somalis,
00:04:48.820 immigrants from Somalia, who are engaged in this massive fraud.
00:04:54.480 And you see this group of Somalis surrounding Nick Shorter
00:05:00.720 and yelling at him and chasing him through the neighborhood
00:05:04.400 because they're very upset that their fraud has been uncovered.
00:05:07.760 We covered on Verdict early on that this fraud resulted in
00:05:14.360 the single largest funder of al-Shabaab,
00:05:18.660 which is a radical Islamic terror group in Somalia,
00:05:21.560 is the Minnesota taxpayers.
00:05:23.620 That's how big this fraud is.
00:05:25.860 And so we want to break down on today's podcast multiple pieces of it.
00:05:30.020 Number one, what went on.
00:05:31.600 Number two, what are the consequences?
00:05:33.340 Who is going to be fired?
00:05:34.580 And even more importantly, who is going to be put in jail
00:05:38.800 because there needs to be real accountability?
00:05:41.380 And number three, who benefited?
00:05:43.380 Why was this allowed to happen?
00:05:45.640 All of those are questions.
00:05:47.220 And number four, why did the corporate media cover it up, ignore it?
00:05:52.920 They have no interest whatsoever in it.
00:05:56.760 They will track down everything they can about Donald Trump.
00:06:00.320 But actually, Democrats and Somali immigrants stealing billions of dollars
00:06:07.040 from the taxpayers, zero interest in the corporate media
00:06:10.200 and covering that at all.
00:06:11.300 You know the Democrats, by the way, are in their Hill Center
00:06:13.580 because they've gone back to their playbook,
00:06:15.280 which they always go back to when they're challenged with facts.
00:06:18.320 And that is the name call.
00:06:19.740 And we saw this happen on mainstream media.
00:06:22.380 We saw this happen on MS Now,
00:06:25.100 where they're now saying, and on CNN,
00:06:26.760 how dare you demonize a Somali community?
00:06:30.500 That is racist.
00:06:31.820 You cannot ask these questions of a community like this
00:06:34.820 because it's clearly racist in its tone.
00:06:37.180 Here is how MS Now described it on TV,
00:06:39.780 saying it's just unfair and the Republicans are just evil and mean-spirited.

00:06:45.760 The question is, you know,
00:06:47.700 why is this a priority in a different kind of way?
00:06:50.340 The politicization of the DOJ and the FBI is undeniable.
00:06:56.260 So whether they are reliable narrators is the big question.
00:07:00.760 And this is what happens when you weaponize and politicize federal agencies
00:07:04.780 that are not meant to be, you know, politicized.
00:07:08.680 And I think the American people are right to ask the question,
00:07:11.840 well, can we trust you?
00:07:13.240 And that's a sad thing to say as an American.
00:07:15.600 Let's recall, too, that there's also other scandals in other states.
00:07:20.680 For example, the Mississippi welfare scandal.
00:07:22.840 And this is not unique to politics.
00:07:25.940 Americans know that.
00:07:27.280 But, of course, the other factor here is that
00:07:29.880 because it looks like the Somali population in Minnesota,
00:07:34.460 the Somali immigrant population may have been involved in some way,
00:07:39.780 those people are being scapegoated.
00:07:41.920 And that community is being scapegoated in a way that certainly serves the far right.
00:07:47.080 And so that's also something to keep an eye on.

00:08:14.380 I think it is laughable listening to her talking about
00:08:17.680 people have lost faith in the Department of Justice,
00:08:20.100 and that's just sad because they're politicized and biased.
00:08:24.300 Number one, her employer, the New York Times,
00:08:26.680 and her employer, MSNBC, or whatever the hell it's called now,
00:08:29.800 are so wildly biased that everyone knows it.
00:08:33.320 But understand, this is an individual who, a few years ago,
00:08:35.780 she said publicly that she was deeply disturbed
00:08:39.480 to see American flags on trucks in Long Island,
00:08:43.100 that the American flag disturbed her.
00:08:44.840 That's how biased she is.
00:08:46.240 And look at the media desperately trying to cover up
00:08:49.380 the thieves, the fraudsters, and the Democrats.
00:08:52.880 That is who they're fighting for.
00:08:54.700 Senator, I want to get back to this argument
00:08:56.760 the left has now gone all in on with,
00:08:58.880 you cannot criticize the Somali community
00:09:01.800 because if you do, it's racist.
00:09:03.840 I want people to really understand
00:09:05.900 this daycare fraud is not like a few people involved.
00:09:11.180 And there's been some that I think have mischaracterized as well.
00:09:13.660 It's just maybe one or two bad actors.
00:09:15.520 They open up a daycare, they commit fraud.
00:09:17.360 No, they have others in the Somali community
00:09:20.420 that are allowing their children's names to be used
00:09:23.660 as a participant in the fraud
00:09:25.800 and apparently getting kickbacks.
00:09:27.380 In fact, there are videos they're servicing
00:09:29.540 of people that were bringing their kids
00:09:31.200 and checking them in and them leaving
00:09:32.480 so the state would write checks to daycare centers.
00:09:36.000 This has been going on for years.
00:09:38.620 There have been multiple warnings about this.
00:09:41.540 And when there was no accountability,
00:09:43.440 no one was going to jail.
00:09:45.020 It started growing bigger and bigger
00:09:46.580 because basically everybody thought,
00:09:48.180 I think, hey, we can do it.
00:09:49.920 Bring everybody in.
00:09:51.200 We'll all get rich off of it.
00:09:52.620 And literally to the tune of billions of dollars, they did it.
00:09:55.200 North of $9 billion.
00:09:56.420 And this is money that was scammed primarily by Somali fraudsters.

00:10:03.600 They were sending much of it back to Somali.
00:10:05.500 As I said, millions, if not hundreds of millions of it
00:10:08.840 ended up in the coffers of al-Shabaab
00:10:11.160 where they used it for radical Islamic terrorism.

00:10:17.520 all members of them coming up
00:10:19.580 and trying to do whatever they can to cover up the fraud.
00:10:22.440 And, you know, we just played a few minutes ago,
00:10:25.540 Mara Gay on MSNBC and from the New York Times saying,
00:10:29.980 well, some Somalis may have been involved.
00:10:33.100 Let's talk about accountability.
00:10:34.400 Here's what Pam Bondi put out.
00:10:36.280 The Justice Department has been investigating this for months.
00:10:39.220 So far, we have charged 98 individuals,
00:10:43.560 85 of Somali descent,
00:10:46.400 and more than 60 have been found guilty in court.
00:10:50.720 We have more prosecutions coming.
00:10:53.180 Buckle up, lawmakers.
00:10:54.920 Now, let me say,
00:10:56.080 when you have 98 people charged by the Department of Justice,
00:10:59.660 85 of them of Somali descent,
00:11:01.320 and 60 already found guilty,
00:11:03.120 how the hell can she say
00:11:04.880 some Somalis may have been involved?
00:11:07.180 No, they've been criminally prosecuted.
00:11:09.040 They've been caught.
00:11:10.260 There's no dispute.
00:11:11.360 But when you're a professional liar,
00:11:13.220 which is what the fake news does,
00:11:16.160 they don't deal in the world of facts.
00:11:18.240 And you talk about accountability.
00:11:20.260 Look, DOJ is coming after them,
00:11:23.860 but I also want to talk about
00:11:24.940 what Kash Patel put out from the FBI.
00:11:27.820 Kash Patel went to Minnesota in July.
00:11:31.320 To oversee the investigations
00:11:33.940 to confirm that progress was being made.
00:11:36.120 And he said the investigations,
00:11:37.840 some of the investigations were opened
00:11:39.440 under the Biden administration.
00:11:41.820 But he also said they were buried
00:11:45.060 because they implicate Biden political allies.
00:11:52.100 Between late May 2025 and December 2025,
00:11:57.220 the FBI had 16 open investigations
00:11:59.720 into approximately 32 health care
00:12:02.140 and home care providers accused of fraud.
00:12:05.340 And he described a massive joint investigation,
00:12:09.120 including HHS Inspector General,
00:12:11.800 Medicaid Fraud Unit, IRS, Postal Inspectors,
00:12:14.820 Minnesota Attorney General,
00:12:15.880 Minnesota Department of Education.
00:12:18.660 And by the way,
00:12:19.780 it's not just limited to Minnesota.
00:12:22.100 They're expanding nationwide.
00:12:23.820 And we're getting reports online
00:12:25.240 of other states like Washington states,
00:12:27.560 like New York, like California,
00:12:29.700 where these same problems have been happening.
00:12:32.920 And what is critical
00:12:34.340 is to follow the money
00:12:36.440 and to go after that,
00:12:40.140 to go after them.
00:12:41.760 And I'm very glad
00:12:42.940 we're beginning to see accountability.

00:12:47.840 with just the thieves.
