00:02:12.360 Hey, it's Drew Franklin from NFL Cover Zero.
00:02:15.060 The 2026 season is underway, and we are loving football on TV.
00:02:19.320 Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season.
00:02:22.200 I would suggest for these preseason games,
00:02:24.440 I think they should do what they do on the NFL draft. 0.84
00:02:28.440 You know, when coverage of the NFL draft is basically for moms.

00:02:44.800 Who's going to vote for the guy?
00:02:46.340 So Telefrico voted in favor of defunding the police.
00:02:50.000 And he personally wrote a bill to strip Texas police officers of their legal protection because he wants to destroy the lives of your police officers.
00:03:01.480 And he personally introduced a bill to shut down all five juvenile detention centers in Texas to let violent thugs and gang members run wild in your street.
00:03:12.140 You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
00:03:15.680 Good Thursday morning. Nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update.
00:03:19.160 and we've got two big stories for you that are absolutely affecting the outcome of the midterm
00:03:23.660 elections. We are now being told that Apple News deliberately hid stories reporting on the
00:03:29.640 Democratic National Committee's financial woes ahead of the midterms. This on top of big tech,
00:03:35.920 making sure that fundraising emails from conservative causes and candidates are not
00:03:40.900 actually reaching your inbox. They're deliberately sending them to your spam folder. And that is
00:03:46.980 costing hundreds of millions in fundraising to Republican candidates.
00:03:51.700 We break down both of those stories for you in just a moment.
00:03:54.920 But before we get to that, on October the 7th, 2023,
00:03:59.320 Israel firefighter Danny faced a nightmare no parent should ever endure.
00:04:04.320 A terrorist attacked his community, and he and his wife sheltered in their safe room.
00:04:08.540 Now, the worst part was just yards away, his daughter and son-in-law were trapped inside their home
00:04:13.620 as it burned during the horrific attacks on that day.
00:04:16.780 There was nothing he could do to save them.
00:04:19.340 Danny has dedicated his life to rescuing others.
00:04:22.060 In the midst of unimaginable grief, he stepped forward to help evacuate the survivors and
00:04:28.460 care for his shattered community.
00:04:30.700 Today, he continues helping rebuild.
00:04:33.220 His story reminds us that behind every headline is a real family, a mother, a father, a son
00:04:38.680 or a daughter whose life mattered.
00:04:41.820 That's why thousands of churches across America are going to be doing something that's truly
00:04:46.920 amazing.
00:04:47.960 They are joining the Flags of Fellowship movement started by the International Fellowship of
00:04:52.400 Christians and Jews.
00:04:54.040 Each flag planted as part of this powerful movement honors a life lost.
00:04:58.700 Each flag stands against hatred and each flag declares to the world that Israel is not alone.
00:05:04.880 I want you to join believers across America in this powerful act of remembrance and solidarity
00:05:10.620 with Israel. You can learn how you or your church can make a difference at joinfof.org.
00:05:19.160 That's joinfof.org. It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now.
00:05:26.220 Story number one. There's a question that we've been talking about a lot here on the show,
00:05:30.720 and that is just how much of an impact does big tech have specifically on the elections when it
00:05:36.700 comes to conservative candidates or hiding news that may be damaging to Democrats so voters don't
00:05:44.160 know about it. Now you put those two things together and yeah you can have an awful lot
00:05:49.140 of influence on the election if you think about it from that perspective. Well now we've got new
00:05:54.380 information and it all deals with the midterm elections that are happening right now. When you
00:06:00.220 combine this new info with the research that we've already seen about Republican fundraising
00:06:07.120 emails and how they've been put into spam folders that is having a massive impact on
00:06:13.600 not raising money, because think about it, if you get an email asking you to give money
00:06:17.420 to a conservative cause or candidate and it goes into your spam, you're way less likely
00:06:21.440 to ever see it, meaning you're way less likely to ever give.
00:06:24.620 Well, big tech quietly is putting the thumb on the political scales at a level we never
00:06:29.440 could have imagined. The Media Research Center has just released an analysis. They are now
00:06:35.860 accusing Apple News of effectively blacking out one of the most damaging stories surrounding the
00:06:41.400 Democratic Party heading into the midterms. The Democratic National Committee's serious
00:06:46.880 financial problems should be a top story, but it's nowhere to be found. Yeah. Now, the financial
00:06:54.020 problems are documented in federal campaign finance records, and according to the Federal
00:06:58.580 election commission as of june 30th of this year the dnc reported having just 16.3 million in cash
00:07:05.420 on hand while carrying an 18 and a half million dollar debt now you compare that to the republicans
00:07:13.060 the republican national committee has 128.5 million in cash and zero debt and what does that mean it
00:07:20.080 means the rnc has nearly eight times as much on hand as the dnc and we've known this for a while
00:07:26.240 which is why the story becomes really interesting this financial situation has become so serious
00:07:33.300 apparently that the dnc used its washington headquarters as collateral for a 15 million
00:07:40.420 dollar loan the dnc has pointed out that using its building as collateral is an unprecedented
00:07:46.380 they claim and democrats they go well they've done it before with previous lines of credit so
00:07:51.060 this is not a big deal. Everybody calm down, right? Well, it's newsworthy and the media knows
00:07:57.200 this and so does Apple News. In fact, even the liberal Washington Post covered the story. They
00:08:04.380 understood how significant it was. The New York Times, by the way, also covered the DNC's internal
00:08:10.620 financial problems. Even ABC News covered the donor frustration. Politico, they covered it.
00:08:19.460 The Guardian, they covered it.
00:08:21.420 The Wall Street Journal has a report on major Democratic donors pulling back.
00:08:26.360 Now, this, again, is a story that even the left is covering in the media.
00:08:33.520 So what did Apple News do?
00:08:36.200 Well, according to the Media Research Center, you could apparently consume the most prominent
00:08:40.700 stories Apple News was serving its users day after day and never see this story break through.
00:08:47.560 MRC says its researchers examined the top 20 stories that were promoted by Apple News
00:08:52.760 at approximately 8.30 every morning from January the 1st through September the 28th.
00:08:59.180 They searched for coverage involving the DNC, involving their fundraising, involving their debt,
00:09:05.080 involving the FEC in related terms.
00:09:07.280 Their conclusion?
00:09:08.740 Not one story about the Democrat National Committee's financial crisis ever appeared
00:09:14.220 among those top 20 stories during the period that they monitored from January 1 through September
00:09:20.380 the 28th. MRC says it identified 78 stories elsewhere dealing with the DNC's financial
00:09:27.560 troubles, including stories from publications Apple News regularly promotes on their front page.
00:09:33.600 Yet none of those financial stories made the top 20 at all in their snapshots. Now, MRC also said
00:09:41.300 it also seems to establish that Apple News, well, was pretty clear.
00:09:45.760 They're serving up news that they want you to read and anything that they don't like,
00:09:49.660 like the DNC being out of money or having real problems, we'll just move that, well,
00:09:54.420 to the back of the office and you'll never see it.
00:09:58.540 Now, this does have a big impact on the 2026 elections because you're dealing with stories
00:10:04.900 Americans see and they see them almost every day on their smartphones.
00:10:09.540 That is power.
00:10:11.300 And if you don't tell them about what's happening with the Democratic National Committee, you
00:10:15.120 may not realize there is a real problem with their messaging or a big civil war going on
00:10:19.960 between the Democratic Socialists of America and the traditional Democratic Party.
00:10:23.660 And that's what we see right now.
00:10:26.140 Now, researchers also said from not only the University of Iowa and the University of Alabama,
00:10:33.580 they study what happened when political fundraising emails are sent through major email providers
00:10:38.520 and their paper examined two episodes during 2025 and what they found also deserves enormous
00:10:45.480 attention according to research during one 78 day period gmail outlook and yahoo routed emails
00:10:55.360 containing win red donation links now that's the republican fundraising platform to spam folders
00:11:01.700 while otherwise identical emails containing Democrat Act blue links were reaching your inbox.
00:11:09.160 Now, what does that mean?
00:11:10.800 Well, same basic email, change the fundraising destination from a conservative to a liberal
00:11:16.240 or a liberal to conservative, and then what happens?
00:11:20.000 Well, Big Tech decided if it's a Republican fundraising email, it goes towards your spam folder.
00:11:25.300 And if it's a Democratic fundraising email, that reaches your inbox right there at the top.
00:11:30.340 The researchers also studied a separate Outlook episode and attempted to measure what this actually means in dollars.
00:11:38.360 And their estimates, well, they were staggering.
00:11:40.960 The New York Post, now reporting on the research, said that the researchers estimate that Republicans lost roughly $117 million in potential donations during the two periods they analyzed.
00:11:54.320 They said more than 142,000 estimated first-time donations were lost.
00:12:00.220 Now, I'm going to say that number again so you understand just how big of an impact Big Tech is having on this election.
00:12:07.620 Big Tech was able to make $117 million disappear.
00:12:11.980 Now, this wasn't merely an academic discussion about whether somebody's email ended up in the promotions folder.
00:12:17.440 No, political campaigns live on fundraising, they were getting the raw data.
00:12:23.260 And fundraising pays for television advertising.
00:12:26.060 By the way, that same fundraising pays for digital advertising.
00:12:28.820 it pays for staff, it pays for voter registration drives, it pays for field offices, it pays for
00:12:34.260 get out the vote operations, it pays for the mail that comes to your house, it pays for everything
00:12:39.500 required to actually win an election. And what big tech did was they said, hey, if we send out
00:12:44.960 the emails, fine, but do we have to send their actual email box or should we put all these
00:12:50.720 Republican fundraisers in spam and then we can watch them underperform by $117 million.
00:12:58.820 That is shocking.
00:13:00.500 Now, the researchers, by the way, looked at just how big of a conspiracy there was between the two.
00:13:06.540 And one thing is clear.
00:13:08.180 If you're a radical leftist advocating for the radical left and trying to raise money, your email is not going to spam.
00:13:16.340 At 2022, by the way, North Carolina State University study famously found that Gmail sent 77% of right wing candidate emails in its experiment to spam.
00:13:28.140 compared with just 10% of left-wing candidates in the same time period.
00:13:33.800 Outlook and Yahoo showed bias in the opposition direction in that study, they said.
00:13:39.200 And the researchers said in that study it was very clear that there were efforts by the companies to influence voters.
00:13:45.920 Google, of course, strongly disputed the methodology and conclusions surrounding that research.
00:13:50.140 And guess who report on that? You guessed it, the Washington Post.
00:13:53.980 But here's why all the new research matters.
00:13:57.580 we're no longer just talking about theoretical differences in where emails land researchers are
00:14:03.600 now trying to quantify the financial consequences and their estimates are in the nine figures
00:14:09.620 so put these two stories together on one side you have the media research center saying apple news
00:14:15.000 failed to prominently feature stories exposing the democratic national committee's major financial
00:14:20.960 problems on the other side you have an academic researcher or i should say researchers from two
00:14:26.300 prominent American universities, finding episodes where Republican fundraising emails linked
00:14:31.820 to, again, when read, were disproportionately routed to spam, with an estimated loss of $117
00:14:39.520 million in fundraising. $117 million is the difference many times between winning a national
00:14:45.040 election and losing a national election. Are you connecting the dots? Listen to what I'm telling
00:14:50.560 you here because not only do these two story affect information it also affects voter turnout
00:14:57.000 and and and this money that they didn't get to raise because the emails are going to spam was
00:15:03.240 money that would have been used to get out the vote for conservative candidates now both of these
00:15:09.120 powerful technology companies are clearly standing between political organizations and the american
00:15:15.320 citizens. And that's the bigger story here. Big tech doesn't have to delete a story to diminish
00:15:20.840 its impact. It now simply can make the story harder to discover for you to find it. And an
00:15:26.140 email doesn't have to be banned. It can simply land somewhere most people never look, their spam
00:15:31.520 folder. And that's why this story and transparency matters. Because an Apple editor deciding what
00:15:38.100 appears at the top of Apple News can literally daily influence millions of people into believing
00:15:44.500 what is important and what is real and what is not real or what is happening and what's
00:15:48.480 not happening and an email algorithm deciding whether a political fundraising appeal lands
00:15:53.500 in your inbox or your spam folder can determine well whether you ever see it and the actual
00:15:58.440 outcome of a future election and that's why they're doing it all of these decisions made
00:16:04.960 by the radical left were done for one reason to win an election and to control the outcome
00:16:10.840 of an election. This is a massive disadvantage if you're a conservative. It's a massive advantage
00:16:17.200 if you're on the liberal side of things. And Americans, by the way, have every right to demand
00:16:21.540 answers about how these decisions are being made. And with the midterm elections approaching,
00:16:26.500 this isn't an abstract debate anymore about Silicon Valley. This is about political power.
00:16:32.740 Now, the DNC entered the summer with $18.5 million in debt, $16.3 million in cash. The RNC had $128.5
00:16:39.820 million and no debt those the facts americans deserve to know them and americans also deserve
00:16:45.960 to have confidence that when they voluntarily subscribe to any type of political communication
00:16:51.960 or choose to support a candidate or a technology company that is out there that's trying to act
00:16:57.960 like their big brother or picking and choosing winners they should stay out of it because they
00:17:02.760 shouldn't be able to stand between you and your choice and who you support and by the way this
00:17:07.820 goes on both sides of the aisle but then again this is big tech right this is exactly what they
00:17:13.100 want to do they want to tell you who to vote for and they want to tell you who's good and they want
00:17:17.240 to tell you who's evil and they want to control your inbox and now we know that not only was apple
00:17:22.420 news controlling what news stories you saw on your phone but they were also big tech controlling
00:17:27.880 exactly where your money may have gone or not gone by making sure that when conservatives asked you
00:17:34.300 for help? You never knew they asked. Thank you for listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben
00:17:40.220 Ferguson. Please make sure you hit subscribe wherever you're listening to this podcast right
