00:06:53.560Authorities say Gomi arranged shipments of more than 250 tons of controlled U.S. technology
00:07:00.760and used his personal eBay and PayPal accounts to make hundreds of additional purchases
00:07:06.720of computer networking equipment that was ultimately shipped directly to Iran.
00:07:12.100Prosecutors also say negotiated purchases directly with suppliers in Minnesota and Nebraska,
00:07:18.000routing equipment at a front company in the UAE before it was sent on to Iran.
00:07:23.560Authorities also alleged he used freight forwarders and intermediaries in Dubai to conceal Iran as the final destination, knowing that he was breaking the law.
00:07:34.080According to the prosecutors, Gomi and his co-conspirators referred to Iran as the motherland in internal communications related to the procurement of the equipment.
00:07:43.480The technology allegedly supplied by Gomi was distributed to hundreds of Iranian companies and government entities, many of which were already subject to U.S. sanctions.
00:07:53.400Prosecutors said a portion of the equipment was supplied to organize connected individuals
00:07:58.740in Iran's nuclear and military programs as well.
00:08:02.200And that may be the most shocking part of all.0.78
00:08:04.860Gomi's most prominent asset was his more than 14,000 square foot mansion.
00:08:11.200It was situated on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
00:08:14.260The property featured iron gates, multiple chandeliers, and dual fountains at the entrance
00:08:20.380to impress, well, anyone that decided to come visit.
00:08:23.580The prosecutor said the arrests demonstrated
00:08:25.800the federal government's commitment to enforcing sanctions
00:08:28.860as the United States continues military operations against Iran.
00:08:33.080And there is a question that you should be asking.
00:08:35.340How did this guy get away with this for so long?
00:08:37.420Well, to be clear, the prior administration, the Biden administration,
00:08:41.300they didn't lift the sanctions on Iran.
00:08:42.980They just deliberately chose not to enforce the sanctions,
00:08:45.640allowing people like Gomi to do exactly what he was doing.0.60
00:08:49.500They literally looked the other way, hoping that appeasement with Iran would work.
00:08:53.700And that meant saying, oh, no, no, no, we have sanctions on Iran, but do they matter if you're not enforcing them?0.72
00:08:59.100We now know, quote, that our nation's laws prohibit doing business with one of the world's largest state sponsors of terrorism, and it must be enforced and obeyed.0.78
00:09:08.920Again, another example of the Trump administration actually abiding by the laws,
00:09:13.200while the radical left does everything they can to help these individuals continue to do business
00:09:18.220in the United States of America. It truly is amazing that this individual was not caught
00:09:23.380sooner. If it wasn't for the Trump administration, he'd probably still be doing business right now.
00:09:28.880Next, story number two. Another big story that I think is really important that we also highlight
00:09:33.940right now is one that is connected very much to the story I mentioned about the individual from
00:09:38.960Moran. And that is Democrats now are seeking to undo Donald Trump's tough new policy on green
00:09:46.840card holders. Democrats on Capitol Hill say they're going to move to overturn the president's
00:09:53.460immigration policy changes. Now, Trump's second term, he said, I'm going to have a new rule that
00:09:59.040could require many green card applicants already living legally in the United States to leave the
00:10:04.240country and complete their applications from abroad that according to report by the hill
00:10:09.260and multiple national outlets have also confirmed the details now the democrats are losing their
00:10:15.540minds saying the policy could affect hundreds of thousands of immigrants currently working
00:10:19.860studying and raising families in the united states of america now for decades many legal
00:10:24.620immigrants have been able to apply for permanent residency through a process known as adjustment of
00:10:30.300status allowing them to remain in the U.S. while their green card applications were reviewed but
00:10:35.620the Trump administration said this has become a massive loophole and the new guidance dramatically
00:10:40.600changes that process. Under the policy the applicants could now be required to return to
00:10:45.740their home countries and complete the process through a U.S. consulate unless they can demonstrate
00:10:50.900what the administration calls extraordinary circumstances. The administration argues this
00:10:56.700isn't a new law but rather return to the original intent of immigration status. Homeland security
00:11:02.640officials say the temporary visas were never intended to become an automatic pathway to
00:11:08.560permanent residency and that the new rules will make the immigration system more orderly and also
00:11:14.700efficient. The administration has also indicated that expectations may be available for individuals
00:11:21.380who provide a significant economic benefit or serve the national interest.
00:11:26.880Well, Democrats, you know what they're going to do,0.91
00:11:29.060stand up for those that aren't American citizens0.55
00:11:31.740before they stand up for American citizens every single time they can do it.
00:11:37.100And that's exactly what they're doing now.
00:11:39.500They're calling this move by the Trump administration disruptive and harmful and hurtful.
00:11:44.420And they argue it could separate families, disrupt careers,
00:11:47.920create uncertainty for employers, and force legal immigrants into lengthy overseas processing
00:11:53.780backlogs that can stretch for months or even years. Again, making sure they put those from1.00
00:11:59.120outside of America ahead of you. Now, immigration advocates are also warning that this will be a0.99
00:12:04.160disaster. But again, look at the open border process and what we've actually had in this
00:12:08.860country. Now, the debate now centers on a larger question. What should legal immigration look like
00:12:14.680in America. Supporters of President Trump who voted for him said it was very clear. They wanted
00:12:20.460to shut down the borders. They wanted an orderly program and they wanted to get illegal immigrants1.00
00:12:24.540out of this country. They wanted to stop rewarding people who were coming into this country illegally0.94
00:12:29.360with government benefits as well. And the Trump policy says the administration is simply enforcing
00:12:34.940the immigration laws that are already on the books and closing these loopholes that encourage
00:12:40.900temporary visitors to remain permanently. Now, Democrats say, no, we are going to go back to
00:12:47.500what we had before that allowed for massive immigration into this country. Democrats are
00:12:52.800now pushing this as a election year issue. And they're also saying they're going to have legal
00:12:57.940challenges to block the policy as well. Now, the outcome could determine literally how hundreds of
00:13:03.500thousands of future green card applicants navigate the path to permanent residency in the United
00:13:08.760States of America. And once again, the Democratic Party making it clear, we stand for illegal
00:13:14.580immigrants and those from outside the United States of America before we stand up for Americans0.93
00:13:21.400and what Americans want and or believe on the issue. And that's exactly why this is going to1.00
00:13:26.520be a major election year issue. Thank you for listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben
