00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.680 Guaranteed human.
00:00:04.860 I mean, I knew Gavin for four years.
00:00:06.840 I got along great with him.
00:00:08.200 If you take a look at what he's done.
00:00:10.020 So they lost 25,000 houses.
00:00:12.120 Do you know they haven't issued one building permit yet?
00:00:14.340 So these people are trying to rebuild the houses.
00:00:16.420 But he did something even worse than that.
00:00:19.340 He's now taking a big section of Palisades or some area.
00:00:22.740 And he's going to build low-income housing where they used to have luxury housing.
00:00:26.020 He's going to put low-income housing in.
00:00:27.580 And honestly, I always liked him, but he's a horrible governor.
00:00:30.860 You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
00:00:34.520 Good Tuesday morning.
00:00:35.520 Nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update.
00:00:38.520 America still being held hostage by the Democratic Party.
00:00:43.200 Massive flight delays.
00:00:45.120 And many Democrats who are now calling for Chuck Schumer to lose his job.
00:00:50.280 This is the story today.
00:00:52.180 When will the government officially reopen?
00:00:54.840 I have the latest for you on that.
00:00:56.280 But first, I want to tell you about our friends over at Patriot Mobile.
00:00:59.500 Every so often, something happens that reminds us just how fragile our freedoms are.
00:01:04.780 We can't afford to take our rights for granted.
00:01:07.460 We must draw a line in the sand.
00:01:09.900 And our friends at Patriot Mobile have been doing just that for more than 12 years.
00:01:15.180 The truth is, there is only one provider.
00:01:18.060 That boldly stands in the gap for Americans who believe freedom is worth fighting for.
00:01:22.540 And that company is Patriot Mobile.
00:01:24.800 Not only are they leading the red economy, they're also outpacing the competition in technology.
00:01:31.300 Patriot Mobile is one of the only carriers offering premium access to all three major U.S. networks,
00:01:39.140 giving you nationwide coverage and service that you can count on day after day.
00:01:43.680 They also offer unlimited data plans, mobile hotspots, international roaming, internet backup, and so much more.
00:01:51.780 And switching has never been easier.
00:01:54.080 You can activate in minutes on your phone from your home or your office.
00:01:58.980 And you keep your same number you've got now, keep your same phone, or upgrade to a new one.
00:02:02.920 And this is where the magic happens.
00:02:05.480 Every month, about 5% of your bill is given back to conservative causes at no extra cost to you
00:02:11.840 that stand up for our First and our Second Amendment rights, the rights of unborn children,
00:02:17.220 and our wounded warriors, and those that have fought for our country and wear a badge.
00:02:22.500 So take a stand today.
00:02:24.020 Go to patriotmobile.com slash ben47.

00:02:39.600 That's patriotmobile.com slash ben47.
00:02:43.900 Or 972-PATRIOT.
00:02:46.640 And make the switch today.
00:02:49.080 It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now.
00:02:52.400 Story number one.
00:02:53.520 We're starting with good news, sort of.
00:02:56.300 Day 41 of the longest federal shutdown in U.S. history.
00:03:00.080 There is movement.
00:03:01.480 Now, there's still a shutdown in the deal points that Democrats are fighting over.
00:03:06.860 This all while there's still chaos in the sky.
00:03:10.140 Snap benefits are in limbo.
00:03:12.760 And we now know that lawmakers in the House are on a 36-hour return notice.
00:03:19.940 This is the longest ever government shutdown.
00:03:22.580 And it's on the verge of ending.
00:03:24.140 Food aid benefits remaining, again, in limbo.
00:03:27.880 Why is this happening?
00:03:28.900 Because Democrats are still wanting you to blame Donald Trump.
00:03:32.280 And they believe they have the upper hand.
00:03:34.900 That's also happening while we're seeing massive flight cancellations and delays.
00:03:39.540 They're disrupting travelers all over the U.S.
00:03:42.340 And international travelers coming into the U.S.
00:03:45.040 Now, the Senate on Sunday took the first major step towards voting on a bipartisan deal reached between some Democrats, eight of them, and Republicans and President Donald Trump.
00:03:56.920 Now, this would fully reopen the government until January the 30th.
00:04:01.260 So there's still going to be work to be done after that.
00:04:04.180 The agreement would also keep various other federal benefits, including SNAP benefits and veteran services, funded through the next year.
00:04:12.680 That's a positive.
00:04:13.580 Now, the decision by a small group of moderate Democrats that defected from the rest of their party marked the biggest turning point since the shutdown began on October the 1st.
00:04:25.320 But it also prompted immediate political blowback, as many Democrats are now urging those colleagues to, quote,
00:04:33.120 hold out for greater spending on things like Medicaid and Obamacare.
00:04:38.920 That is what they're doing.
00:04:40.300 So what happens next is the question that so many of you are asking.
00:04:44.420 Well, now that there are eight Democrats that have signaled support for reopening the government, Congress has to clear a number of procedural hurdles.
00:04:53.500 They could have done this, by the way, on Sunday night.
00:04:57.040 Democrats deliberately wanted it to hurt a little bit longer.
00:05:00.500 This means this could delay things as far as Friday if no one defects.
00:05:04.540 Now, when the new funding deal passes, the Senate, which could come as soon as late Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, the package will then have to pass the House of Representatives, which hasn't taken a vote in weeks.
00:05:17.400 Lawmakers in the House have now been put on a 36-hour return notice, as I mentioned earlier.
00:05:23.780 So it would likely take, quote, several days, barring any travel issues lawmakers might experience to get back to D.C.
00:05:31.540 because of the shutdown, for them to even pass any of the Senate bills.
00:05:35.940 The Senate Majority Leader, John Thune, indicated last week that he didn't think the shutdown would last past Thanksgiving.
00:05:43.320 Now, again, you're dealing with Democrats that are wanting this to happen.
00:05:46.800 Now, President Trump has also come out saying he supports the Senate deal to reopen the government that's been brokered between Republican leaders and the eight Democratic lawmakers, saying, quote,
00:05:56.700 based on everything I'm hearing, they haven't changed anything, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
00:06:01.800 And we have support from enough Democrats and we're going to reopen our country.
00:06:06.580 It's too bad it was closed, but we'll be reopening our country very quickly, Trump went on to say.
00:06:11.480 Now, the agreement would reverse Trump's recent firing of federal workers during the shutdown, but the president suggested he's fine with that, saying, quote, I'll abide by the deal.
00:06:22.020 The deal is very good.
00:06:23.580 So then the question becomes, what's actually in this deal?
00:06:27.960 Let me explain that for you.
00:06:29.880 The agreed to deal, as it stands right now, would reopen the government until January 30th.
00:06:35.620 It would also include full year funding for several agencies and programs, including food aid, veterans benefits, SNAP funding with continued food stamps through the September at higher levels.
00:06:48.740 It also includes a commitment to vote on a bill to potentially extend the expiring Obamacare subsidies, the tax credits, which millions of Americans rely on to help pay government premiums.
00:07:01.360 So that's part of this welfare program.
00:07:04.160 In essence, it happened because of Obamacare.
00:07:06.600 Now, in addition, the deal would reverse the layoffs of thousands of federal workers while barring any potential firing until January 30th.
00:07:15.180 The terminations have been temporarily blocked by a federal court judge.
00:07:19.980 A handful of Senate Democrats have backed the compromise to reopen the government, but it didn't make them any popular with their fellow leftist anarchists that are holding us all hostage.
00:07:32.800 Making this deal is malpractice, is what the New Jersey governor-elect said in a statement.
00:07:38.440 Pathetic, is what Governor of California Gavin Newsom said.
00:07:41.860 And most Senate Democrats balked at the compromise.
00:07:44.600 Mark Warner, Democrat from Virginia, said, quote, I cannot support a deal that still leaves millions of Americans wondering how they're going to pay for their health care or whether they will be able to afford to get sick at all.
00:07:57.720 Now, President Trump has also tried to deal with what's happening in our airports.
00:08:02.000 He has ordered all air traffic controllers back to work.
00:08:05.860 Trump threatening to dock the pay of air traffic controllers who haven't reported to work as flight delays and cancellations have spiked all over the country.
00:08:13.980 He said it this way, very simply, quote, all air traffic controllers must get back to work now.
00:08:21.160 Anyone who doesn't will be substantially docked.
00:08:24.840 Many air traffic controllers continued working without a paycheck during the shutdown.
00:08:29.500 They will get back paid, just so you know.
00:08:31.860 But many have refused or didn't report to airports across the country.
00:08:35.480 That's what prompted the FAA to order airlines to cancel 4% of their flights over the weekend.
00:08:41.580 Trump has urged the controllers who didn't show up for work to quit.
00:08:46.000 And he pledged to recommend $10,000 bonuses to controllers who continued working, saying this.
00:08:52.380 For those air traffic controllers who were great patriots and didn't take any time off for the Democrats' shutdown hoax,
00:09:01.380 I will be recommending a bonus of $10,000 per person for distinguished service to our country.
00:09:07.240 For those that did nothing but complain and took full time off, even though everyone knew they would be paid in full shortly into the future,
00:09:17.900 I am not happy with you.
00:09:20.240 Now, how bad are the cancellations?
00:09:23.020 Delta Airlines announced it's canceled nearly 500 flights under a government directive during the shutdown
00:09:28.960 and that all cancellations through November 12th have been completed.
00:09:33.120 The airline canceled 280 mainline flights and 215 Delta Connection regional flights.
00:09:40.940 Additional delays and cancellations, they say, still may be needed to cope with air traffic control restrictions.
00:09:47.880 The airline is now warning, quote,
00:09:50.240 Delta teams continue to safely manage our operations and care for customers who have experienced cancellations and delays.
00:09:57.020 United Airlines, this is what they've said.
00:10:00.020 They said it is sticking with the government-ordered flight cancellations through at least November the 12th.
00:10:05.960 As Congress debates a potential end to the shutdown, the Federal Aviation Administration has ordered airlines to reduce their flights 4% on November the 7th
00:10:15.940 to cope with strains on air traffic controllers who suffered absences while continuing to work during the shutdown,
00:10:22.180 saying, quote, we will continue to make rolling updates to our schedule if the government shutdown continues and share the latest information as we have it.
00:10:31.660 The airline said in a statement as well on social media.
00:10:34.860 Now, Republicans say that, well, you cannot hide from the crisis that was created by Democrats.
00:10:39.700 And I want you to hear what Speaker Johnson had to say about the Democrats using the American people as leverage.
00:10:47.080 Speaker Johnson, I love your quote.
00:10:49.580 It's the beginning of the end of the shutdown.
00:10:51.760 Very Churchillian.
00:10:52.900 I like that very much.
00:10:54.000 But, you know, but at the at the end of this whole thing, they're basically going back to your CR.
00:11:00.860 I know there's a few add ons here, veterans construction, military construction.
00:11:06.700 But basically, they could have just voted yes on your CR in the first place.
00:11:11.540 And I don't understand how stupid this is.
00:11:14.040 And I think millions of Americans are very aggravated over this.
00:11:18.000 They are.
00:11:18.560 And you're right.
00:11:19.240 It was stupid to you.
00:11:20.420 Your word and my word is is utterly pointless.
00:11:23.460 I mean, 40 days.
00:11:25.500 We've had the country wandering in the wilderness because of the Democrats intransigence.
00:11:30.340 And they've made the American people suffer needlessly.
00:11:32.740 And at the end of all this, you now have a handful of Democrats who have come to their senses.
00:11:36.900 They're they're prepared to do the right thing.
00:11:38.940 Reopen the government.
00:11:39.860 They're going to do, Larry, to your point, exactly what we asked them to do weeks ago.
00:11:44.260 I mean, all of this was really for nothing.
00:11:46.500 And it's so sad that they have used the American people as their leverage.
00:11:50.740 That's their own quote as pawns in this political game so that Chuck Schumer could have political
00:11:55.080 cover back in New York.
00:11:56.240 I mean, it's really unconscionable.
00:11:57.980 Now, lastly, there's also another aspect of the shutdown, and that is a civil war that's
00:12:02.180 happening as we speak right now within the Democratic Party.
00:12:06.520 Senator Dick Durbin, for example, openly admitted the Democrats knew the damage that they were
00:12:12.960 going to cause to families by shutting the government down, saying from the floor of the Senate earlier
00:12:17.940 today, I cannot accept a strategy which wages political battle at the expense of my neighbor's
00:12:24.640 paycheck or the food for his children.
00:12:29.480 Now, Chuck Schumer, and this was the Schumer shutdown.
00:12:32.600 He was forced to do it, held hostage by the extreme wing of the Democratic Party.
00:12:36.960 The AOCs of his party that he's afraid are going to actually come after him in a primary.
00:12:41.600 Well, now Democrats are mad that this deal is getting done.
00:12:45.500 In fact, one Democratic strategist today on MSNBC said this about Chuck Schumer.
00:12:50.520 Should Chuck Schumer go?
00:12:51.540 And yet, yes, Chuck Schumer should go.
00:12:53.240 I'm sorry to say Chuck Schumer should go.
00:12:54.640 I voted for him many times.
00:12:55.900 I am ideologically quite aligned with where he is as a senator, but he's no longer capable
00:13:01.420 of running this caucus.
00:13:03.400 He's no longer capable of leading the Democratic Party.
00:13:05.800 I am a lifeline.
00:13:07.900 I mean, I am an establishment Democrat, and I'm here to say that Bernie Sanders is much
00:13:12.300 more in line with where I and many other Democrats are today than Chuck Schumer is.
00:13:17.000 And, you know, if you would have asked me that five years ago, I would have laughed at you.
00:13:20.160 So that's just to underscore exactly how furious, how furious Democrats are today for putting
00:13:26.340 the country through this without having an out.
00:13:29.580 Without having an out.
00:13:32.140 This is the Democratic Party right now telling you how bad the Civil War is.
00:13:37.000 It wasn't enough that they actually decided to shut down the government for the longest
00:13:41.560 period in history.
00:13:43.100 They're now saying Chuck Schumer must go and the extreme of the party should be mainlined.
00:13:49.460 Seth Moulton on Chuck Schumer saying this.
00:13:52.580 Yeah.
00:13:52.760 And do you think that change, that need for a change in leadership would also extend to
00:13:56.340 Chuck Schumer if you were elected to the Senate?
00:13:58.260 Yes.
00:13:58.360 Would you want to see?
00:13:59.140 Okay.
00:13:59.260 And, you know, I'm not going to run for on a new generation of leadership platform here
00:14:02.960 in Massachusetts and then go down to Washington and vote for the status quo.
00:14:06.880 And so I've been very public about that.
00:14:09.580 Again, you know, respected service, but time to move on.
00:14:13.580 And and, you know, my opponent has not.
00:14:16.420 He keeps dodging the question.
00:14:18.040 That is a man who's running for Senate in Massachusetts saying this will be over if I am elected and we
00:14:26.580 will get rid of Chuck Schumer.
00:14:27.800 One more that's also saying the same exact thing.
00:14:32.100 Democrats continuing to call for him to be done and the media following suit on The View
00:14:38.000 today.
00:14:39.080 Sonny Hostin saying this about it's time for Schumer to be gone, saying his days are over.
00:14:45.580 You know, you do something like this, shame on you the first time you do it twice, three
00:14:51.280 times, four times.
00:14:52.440 Shame on me.
00:14:53.220 Shame on the Democrats for even believing that the Republicans will, you know, even vote
00:15:00.360 on it.
00:15:00.740 There's no guarantee in this new deal that there's going to be a vote.
00:15:04.520 There's no even commitment to have a vote.
00:15:07.180 So the bottom line is the Democrats went into this after a blue wave out of the American
00:15:12.080 people saying we do want the opposition.
00:15:14.180 We we the working people want the the Democratic Party to fight for them.
00:15:18.720 And now they just caved and surrendered.
00:15:21.040 I think Chuck Schumer, his days are over.
00:15:23.880 His days are over.
00:15:25.560 So there it is.
00:15:26.960 Democrats admitting they did it on purpose.
00:15:29.200 They're hurting Americans on purpose.
00:15:31.120 They're delaying open the government right now, even as they agree to open the government
00:15:34.700 on purpose.
00:15:36.180 And they want it to hurt on purpose.
00:15:39.000 And there is a civil war in the Democratic Party.
00:15:41.980 Chuck Schumer is no longer extreme enough for the Democratic Party.
00:15:47.580 So if you think this was a grand success for Democrats, look at what they're saying about
00:15:52.420 their own party right now.
00:15:54.980 And Donald Trump, as he made it clear today, it's time to get our government back open and
00:16:00.040 get us back to working.
00:16:01.720 And that's the most important thing for so many Americans that are being held hostage
00:16:05.840 by the Democratic Party.
