00:00:02.660 Guaranteed human.
00:00:05.980 Democrats say that they care a lot about lowering health care costs.
00:00:09.780 They talk about doing something.
00:00:11.580 They don't actually do the hard work of making it happen.
00:00:14.140 What they have done instead is to shut down the government
00:00:16.060 because we won't give billions of dollars to health care funding for illegal aliens.
00:00:19.920 That is what is actually happening.
00:00:21.700 You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
00:00:25.420 Good Thursday morning.
00:00:26.340 Nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update.
00:00:28.520 And there's one big story.
00:00:29.800 It's the government shutdown.
00:00:31.240 But the politics behind it?
00:00:32.620 Well, Democrats are really lying now.
00:00:35.660 Talking about how this is somehow the Trump shutdown.
00:00:39.160 They're also now lying about their demands for that $1.5 trillion in government waste.
00:00:45.500 So what's happening at this moment?

00:01:06.520 I actually have a 100-ounce silver bar.
00:01:11.500 It is actually really cool.
00:01:13.320 It's really heavy because it's 100 ounces.
00:01:15.500 But I also know that I bought it at the right price.
00:01:19.220 And I wasn't paying massive upcharges on, quote, rare or special coins.
00:01:24.260 And then when you go to sell them, you take away all of your earning potential.
00:01:28.620 Why do they do it this way at Kirk Elliott?

00:02:58.080 Let's faithfully steward what God has given so you can experience real peace now and for generations to come.
00:03:05.040 K-E-P-M dot com slash Ben.
00:03:08.120 It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now.
00:03:11.300 Story number one.
00:03:12.380 With a federal government partial shutdown, there is an opportunity for Donald Trump to do exactly what he promised during the campaign,
00:03:21.840 to get rid of waste, fraud, and abuse of your tax dollars.
00:03:27.540 Trump is now signaling layoffs and spending cuts that could become permanent.
00:03:32.940 So, yes, this shutdown could be a massive blessing in disguise for every American taxpayer.
00:03:41.200 The federal government entering a partial shutdown early Wednesday because the Democrats, on purpose,
00:03:47.900 failed to reach an agreement on a funding package, a clean CR.
00:03:52.180 And President Trump suggested the standoff could open the door, he says, for big changes in the federal workforce.
00:04:00.240 Senate lawmakers missed the deadline at midnight to approve a very simple budget for the fiscal year 2025.
00:04:09.180 According now to Fox News, the short-term funding extension that passed the House earlier in September,
00:04:15.600 keeping the government running through November the 21st,
00:04:17.840 but bipartisan talks collapsed when the Democrats said, no, we want to hold you hostage,
00:04:23.240 and we demand that you spend on things like health care for illegal immigrants.
00:04:28.500 Now, in the hours leading up to the shutdown, President Trump made it very clear
00:04:32.960 that while he did not want the government to close, he saw opportunities, quote-unquote, in the crisis,
00:04:40.160 saying, quote, we don't want it to shut down because we have the greatest period of time ever.
00:04:45.020 However, I tell you, we have $17 trillion being invested.
00:04:49.600 So the last person that wanted to shut down is us.
00:04:53.160 He then added, now, with that being said, we can do things during the shutdown that are irreversible,
00:04:59.440 that are bad for them, referring to Democrats, and irreversible by them,
00:05:04.420 like cutting vast numbers of people out, cutting things that they like,
00:05:09.780 cutting programs that they like, referring to the Democrats.
00:05:13.040 Now, Trump has repeatedly warned and pushed to reduce the size of government
00:05:18.760 and slash federal programs, he says, that wastes your tax dollars.
00:05:24.220 A shutdown does not grant new powers to the White House,
00:05:27.860 but it does give the executive branch wide discretion over what services continue to operate.
00:05:35.860 The standoff has turned into a battle of blame.
00:05:38.800 Democrats going to TV saying this is all Trump's fault.
00:05:42.420 But the problem is, some Democrats didn't get the memo to lie.
00:05:47.340 They told the truth that they are, in fact, shutting down the government.
00:05:51.840 Democrats can accuse Republicans all they want of hijacking the process
00:05:56.800 and falsely lying, claiming that they wanted to provide taxpayer-funded health benefits
00:06:01.560 only for Americans.
00:06:02.940 When it's in black and white,
00:06:05.040 they wanted taxpayer-funded health benefits for all illegal immigrants.
00:06:08.420 Chuck Schumer said Tuesday, quote,
00:06:12.340 they say that undocumented people are going to get these credits.
00:06:16.480 That is absolutely false.
00:06:18.360 This is one of the big lies that they're telling you.
00:06:21.240 Well, you look at the Office of Budget Management,
00:06:24.900 and they made it very clear the Democrats are spending massive amounts of money
00:06:29.480 if they got their way on illegal immigrant health care.
00:06:33.900 Which brings me to Speaker Johnson on the government shutdown,
00:06:37.900 going back and reminding the American people of what really happened
00:06:41.900 instead of the lies the Democrats and many in the media are telling.
00:06:46.120 Take a listen to Speaker on Fox News.
00:06:49.400 Members, then it's going to be hard to get this resolved.
00:06:52.680 All along, Republicans wanted to shut the government down.
00:06:58.060 Well, we do have the House Speaker with us here in the studio tonight.
00:07:01.160 Let's welcome in Mike Johnson of Louisiana.
00:07:03.240 Good to see you, sir.
00:07:03.960 Thank you for taking the time.
00:07:04.960 I know that you have been very busy today.
00:07:06.840 Busy day.
00:07:07.620 Those clips are hilarious to me.
00:07:09.820 The House did its job.
00:07:11.000 The House Republicans did our job.
00:07:12.580 It's been over two weeks we passed that continuing resolution.
00:07:15.780 It's clean.
00:07:16.440 It's simple.
00:07:17.080 It's 24 pages in length.
00:07:18.580 We were simply trying to buy time.
00:07:21.240 And this is really important for everybody to remember, John.
00:07:23.240 The reason we're doing this is that the appropriators are trying to rebuild the muscle memory
00:07:27.440 to do appropriations to spend taxpayer dollars responsibly.
00:07:31.600 And that takes 12 separate approach bills.
00:07:33.640 We were doing that, working through the process.
00:07:35.200 We ran out of time.
00:07:36.300 We need seven more weeks.
00:07:37.620 So we put a clean CR on the table,
00:07:39.860 assuming that everybody, all the Democrats, would do the right thing.
00:07:42.440 They've rejected it.
00:07:43.360 Now, three times as of today, the Senate Democrats, 44 of them,
00:07:46.840 have voted that CR, the clean CR, down.
00:07:49.840 And they proposed Chuck Schumer's version, which is a dirty CR.
00:07:52.560 Why do we say that?
00:07:53.260 Because he wants to add $1.5 trillion in new spending to a seven-week stopgap measure.
00:07:59.200 And they want to give health care to illegal aliens, 0.99
00:08:01.960 claw back the funds that we put in for rural hospitals and all sorts of other mayhem.
00:08:05.440 We can't do that.
00:08:06.520 We're just not going to do it.
00:08:07.380 You listen to Speaker Johnson.
00:08:09.400 The House Republicans did our job passing the CR over two weeks ago,
00:08:13.660 simply trying to buy time.
00:08:15.840 The appropriators are trying to rebuild the muscle memory
00:08:19.420 to do appropriations to spend taxpayers' dollars responsibly
00:08:23.660 instead of irrationally and radical, which is what the Democrats wanted.
00:08:29.020 And here is what the Speaker had to say about some of the money,
00:08:32.140 including health care, for illegals.
00:08:34.280 We're just not going to do it.
00:08:35.180 So this is the real point of contention here.
00:08:37.100 I mean, obviously, they want to restore some of the cuts
00:08:39.260 that were enacted in the big, beautiful bill
00:08:41.020 when it comes to Medicaid funding, etc.
00:08:42.720 But Democrats insist our bill does not provide federal dollars
00:08:47.420 for health care for illegal immigrants.
00:08:49.940 And you say what?
00:08:50.980 I say they obviously have not read their bill.
00:08:53.620 This counterproposal that he filed, everybody can Google it,
00:08:56.460 go pull it up.
00:08:57.120 It's on the Senate's website and in the legislative text.
00:09:00.240 Go to page 57 of Chuck Schumer's bill and look at Section 2141.
00:09:03.940 It says right there in plain language they want to repeal
00:09:07.280 the health provisions of the one big, beautiful bill.
00:09:10.200 I do part ways with you here on this idea of plain language.
00:09:15.320 I read that whole section.
00:09:17.140 It might as well be written in Mandarin.
00:09:18.900 And that's probably why the Democrats don't understand what they filed.
00:09:21.540 But if you interpret that and you get through all the subsections,
00:09:24.400 what you realize is they're trying to take out in its entirety
00:09:28.080 the reforms that we put into the big, beautiful bill pertaining to health.
00:09:32.040 And why is that so important?
00:09:33.780 Because what we did was we strengthened the Medicaid program
00:09:36.700 by making sure that ineligible recipients are not on the rolls.
00:09:40.860 The CBO, the Congressional Budget Office, on August 25th published a letter
00:09:44.900 and they said this is going to do exactly what Republicans said.
00:09:47.820 They estimate that 2.3 million illegal recipients for Medicaid
00:09:52.120 will be pushed off the rolls because of our reforms.
00:09:55.080 And it's going to save $185 billion of taxpayer funds.
00:09:58.460 So they want to return all those ineligible people back to the rolls 1.00
00:10:02.360 and many of them are illegal aliens.
00:10:04.260 That is a fact.
00:10:05.360 And anybody who looks at it objectively has to say it's true.
00:10:08.020 I love how calm the Speaker is on this.
00:10:12.380 He's trying to make it clear that this is all about the Democrats
00:10:17.340 trying to slander and attack the Republicans doing the responsible thing.
00:10:22.940 Just to put it in perspective, there were 17 different times
00:10:28.760 the Republicans did not shut down the government
00:10:31.760 when they had an opportunity to do it
00:10:34.020 and instead went for a continuing resolution
00:10:36.860 to make sure the government was open.
00:10:40.840 When the guy by the name of Joe Biden
00:10:43.560 was President of the United States of America
00:10:46.080 because Republicans understood that shutdowns are bad for the economy,
00:10:50.420 Republicans understood that it was their job to protect the American people
00:10:56.900 and also make sure that our government was functioning the right way.
00:11:02.240 The Democrats shut down the government
00:11:04.180 because President Trump and the Republicans
00:11:06.140 will not force American taxpayers to pay for free health care for illegal aliens. 0.96
00:11:11.980 America is $37 trillion in debt.
00:11:15.040 We cannot afford to provide taxpayer-funded free health care
00:11:18.080 to illegals who broke the law to enter our country.
00:11:21.960 That is exactly why so many Americans decided to vote for Donald Trump.
