00:00:35.660Hey, it's Drew Franklin from NFL Cover Zero.
00:00:38.480The 2026 season is underway, and we are loving football on TV.
00:00:42.740Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season.
00:00:45.360I would suggest for these preseason games,
00:00:48.000I think they should do what they do on the NFL draft.0.87
00:00:51.860You know, when coverage of the NFL draft is basically for moms,
00:00:54.660And they're just like, hey, he has a dog named Spark.
00:01:00.780Listen to NFL Cover Zero on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
00:01:07.820I believe that whoever was in that room and did that was a murderer.
00:01:12.360A new podcast series, Faultline Haditha, tells the story of a shocking crime and a cover-up at the highest levels of the United States Marine Corps.
00:01:20.820If you've got five players and you offer immunity to four, you better be right about the fifth.
00:01:25.660Because if you're not, then you've just given immunity to your killer.
00:01:28.680Listen to Faultline Haditha on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.0.62
00:01:38.220I told him a long time ago, you're making a big mistake in France.0.99
00:01:41.980You're letting everybody from the world come in.0.96
00:02:19.460But what we now know is there are people behind bars right now who are in this country and had no right to vote because they were not American citizens.
00:02:28.640So how widespread could this be across the country?
00:02:31.500We break that down for you in a moment.
00:02:33.760Before we get to that, the midterm elections are heating up and congressional control in President Trump's agenda.
00:05:48.180It was designed to be that way, by the way, by the Democrats
00:05:51.700So what safeguards even exist, by the way, to prevent somebody who's not an American citizen from participating in an election that determines who governs this country?
00:06:06.160And federal prosecutors are now presenting specific cases, they say, involving individuals that illegally registered, falsely then claimed American citizenship, and in some cases voted repeatedly.
00:06:19.080Now, according to the report by the Associated Press, before today's California announcement, the Justice Department had already charged more than 90 people with various forms of election misconduct in 2026.
00:06:33.800That includes roughly 50 people accused of voting despite not being American citizens.
00:06:38.760Now, these cases raise a question worth also examining.
00:06:42.600Where did the safeguards fail in so many instances where prosecutors have now been able to identify what is actually happening?
00:06:50.940Because when somebody allegedly registers to vote by falsely claiming citizenship, we need to understand how that registration was approved by our government.
00:07:00.200And by the way, when somebody casts a ballot, not in one election, but multiple elections who are illegal immigrants, I think we all can agree.
00:07:09.400We need to understand why the problem wasn't identified at some point during all those illegal ballots that were being casted and counted against actual Americans.0.89
00:07:20.140Now, investigators also say they uncovered potential violations.
00:07:23.200violations. Americans deserve to know whether election officials, by the way, are taking
00:07:27.880appropriate actions or deliberately, based on what we're now learning, may have been looking the
00:07:32.680other way, knowing that illegal immigrants were voting in our elections. And here's another
00:07:38.720important point here. The Justice Department says its recent prosecutions involve several different
00:07:45.300kinds of alleged misconduct, including false statements about citizenship, fraudulent
00:07:51.480registrations voting by non-citizens and other election related offenses now these cases all
00:07:59.180have different people involved different charges different legal standards but the main point is
00:08:05.060this election day is november the third and millions of americans are preparing to cast
00:08:10.340their ballots and in states like california voting by mail it's already underway in fact
00:08:16.220where you're listening right now there's a very good chance you may have already early voted right
00:08:20.440now. Now, California automatically mails ballots to registered voters. It's just waiting and asking
00:08:27.940for massive fraud. That system solely depends on the accuracy of the voter rolls. And we know how
00:08:34.400bad voter rolls are around the entire country. If somebody is improperly registered, the question
00:08:40.260becomes whether the state identifies the error before a ballot is issued and then counted. And
00:08:46.120Apparently, they don't do that very well either.
00:08:49.200Now, if somebody is improperly registered to vote, then what should happen to them after the fact when the state finds it?
00:08:55.940And why is it the state keeps looking the other way?
00:08:58.080Or is it because the system is designed to have fraud in it and that helps the party that is in power,
00:10:47.200And then you look at this most recent announcement.
00:10:49.860You've got 28 people facing federal criminal charges that were among the names that have been identified.
00:10:56.220That is a major development because federal prosecutors say these are not simply hypothetical concerns anymore that two politicians are debating on stage.
00:11:06.220These are real cases involving real allegations of voting by people that aren't even Americans.
00:11:13.160Now, think about the question that creates.
00:11:16.320Was this registration reviewed properly and was it actually reviewed?
00:11:20.420And then they said, hey, we believe this person is going to vote for a liberal or a Democrat.
00:11:24.660So it's OK to keep them voting in our elections.0.90
00:11:28.040Because when you import millions of legal immigrants, could it be that this was part of the plan all along?0.94
00:11:37.500You then hope that some of them go ahead and try to register to vote.0.76
00:11:41.100And if you are registered to vote as a legal immigrant and you vote, are you really that
00:11:45.980concerned about being deported if you're in a sanctuary city or a sanctuary state?0.97
00:11:51.420That's part of why California is so ripe for waste, fraud and abuse.
00:11:56.840This is exactly why I'll go back to the point I made earlier.
00:12:00.440I voted for the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump.
00:12:03.980All of these questions should have been answered, by the way, in California long before November 3rd elections.
00:12:13.000The election security is not simply about catching somebody after an election.
00:12:17.480It should be about preventing unlawful ballots from being cast in the first place or being cast and being counted to ensure that every eligible American can actually exercise their right to vote.
00:12:30.380and now just two weeks out until the midterms
00:12:33.180and the federal government is having to do the job
00:13:06.900And when you hear what federal prosecutors say happened in these individual cases,
00:13:10.820you're going to understand why this investigation is attracting national attention.
00:13:16.240Now, the United States Department of Justice announced that these 28 foreign nationals have been charged with federal election crimes
00:13:23.280in a coordinated investigation known as this Operation Protect the Vote.
00:13:27.180Federal authorities also have now confirmed that 11 individuals have been arrested as of their initial announcement, and they believe additional arrests are also expected as this continues to expand and the investigation.
00:13:40.120And this is not, by the way, simply a local investigation involving one county.
00:13:45.500The operation, they say, involves all four federal U.S. attorneys offices in California, meaning they believe that this, well, is widespread voter fraud happening in California.
00:13:57.180Now, the operation, they say, is important because federal prosecutors say the defendants not only fraudulently registered to vote and 21 of them are suspected of actually casting ballots in our elections.
00:14:10.780Now, this is also a critical detail. All 28 defendants are, quote, lawful permanent residents.
00:14:19.200They are green card holders, we're being told. That means they have legal permission to live in the United States of America.
00:14:25.860But having a green card is not the same thing as being an American citizen.
00:14:30.180And lawful permanent residents are not eligible to vote in federal elections.
00:14:34.620According to the Justice Department, investigators uncovered allegations that individuals falsely claimed American citizenship when registering to vote.
00:14:43.360Now, you would think that we'd have, like, I don't know, a basic database in America that you could check and say, hold on a second.
00:14:49.660This person or that person isn't actually an American citizen.
00:14:53.460But apparently, and this isn't a joke, we don't.
00:14:57.440In some cases, prosecutors say defendants subsequently applied for naturalization
00:15:01.480and falsely denied having previously claimed citizenship or participated in American elections.
00:15:09.320Now, that matters because making false statements on a naturalization application
00:15:13.240and submitting fraudulent voter registrations can carry serious federal penalties.
00:15:18.200Now, some of these felony charges announced also carry maximum sentences of five years in federal prison.
00:15:26.900And the details of individual cases are especially important.
00:15:30.780You have one guy by the name of Alexander Munoz.
00:15:34.060He's one of the individuals identified in the reporting.
00:16:26.260And now in October, we have federal prosecutors who have finally brought charges to make sure this man doesn't get to vote again.
00:16:35.240Now, the individual is also accused of falsely stating on his naturalization paperwork that he never claimed to be a U.S. citizen.
00:16:43.980We now know that's a lie. And all of this is now going to be well put out in court. Now they raise also serious questions about how someone who is not legally eligible to vote could remain registered to vote and participate across multiple election cycles at the local, state and federal level.
00:17:06.360Now, this guy is not the only defendant accused of voting repeatedly.
00:17:11.580There's other cases across California.
00:17:14.940According to the Justice Department announcement, one person by the name of Gonzalez, a Mexican national living in California,
00:17:22.840prosecutors alleged that she registered to vote in 2020 while falsely indicating she was an American citizen.
00:17:29.500They say she subsequently voted in elections in 2022, twice in 2024, and again in 2025.
00:17:37.960That's a lot of votes to be canceling out if you're an illegal immigrant.
00:17:41.700Another defendant, a Guatemalan national living in Fresno, California.
00:17:46.480They allege that he fraudulently registered in 2017 and voted in the 2022 primary and November 2024 general election.
00:17:55.580Then there's another individual, a guy out of Mexico, living in Kerman.
00:18:02.760Prosecutors accused him of knowingly voting in three American elections, despite not being
00:18:49.860Registration years before an election, repeated participation over multiple election cycles, and same-day registration followed by voting illegally in California.
00:19:02.600If you want to know where to go vote, if you're not an American citizen, apparently it's California.
00:19:08.960Now, the investigation is unfolding against the backdrop of a legal battle between Trump and California as well.
00:19:15.000Last week, the Justice Department sent California lists containing those more than 20,000 people that it had identified as likely non-citizens on voter rolls.
00:19:26.320Federal officials asked California to verify their citizenship status and segregate ballots where eligibility could not be established.
00:21:29.300A new podcast series, Faultline Haditha, tells the story of a shocking crime and a cover-up at the highest levels of the United States Marine Corps.
00:21:38.260If you've got five players and you offer immunity to four, you better be right about the fifth.
00:21:42.980Because if you're not, then you've just given immunity to your killer.
00:21:45.940Listen to Faultline Haditha on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
