00:01:14.720 You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
00:01:18.660 Good Thursday morning.
00:01:19.720 Nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update,
00:01:22.540 and we've got one big story for you,
00:01:25.160 But a lot of caveats, the president holding a cabinet meeting, making it clear that he's not just working on one thing like Iran or oil prices.
00:01:34.940 No, he's working on national security issues, domestic issues, job creation, inflation issues, showing exactly what the Trump America First agenda is working on right now.
00:01:46.820 We have the clips and we'll break it all down for you.
00:01:50.060 It's the 47 morning update and it starts right now.
00:01:53.280 Story number one.
00:01:54.540 President Donald Trump's cabinet meeting was more than just routine.
00:01:58.740 He gathered the cabinet inside the White House,
00:02:01.060 and he made it very clear exactly what his administration intends to do,
00:02:05.480 how it intends to govern in the second term.
00:02:08.920 Aggressive, unapologetic, and with a clear message that America is back in charge.
00:02:14.700 Now, from Iran and national security to the economy, border security,
00:02:19.920 and America's role on the world stage,
00:02:22.020 President Trump used the meeting to lay out his administration's forecasts as the defining
00:02:28.220 issues he's facing and what the country is facing right now.
00:02:32.360 Now, the biggest part of the meeting clearly came down to Iran.
00:02:36.560 And it was obvious that Donald Trump was turning up the heat on Iran, making it clear that
00:02:41.900 he believes Iran is in an extremely weak position right now economically.
00:02:46.920 And he also intends to use that weakness for major leverage.
00:02:50.740 Trump described Iran's economy as being on the brink of collapse, pointing specifically to the falling oil production, declining exports, massive inflation that has hit the country, and also growing instability inside of the country's government.
00:03:07.760 The president saying this, that Tehran is running out of time and also running out of the money they need.
00:03:14.680 He said that economic pressure is exactly why the United States now has the upper hand in negotiations.
00:03:22.060 The president also made it clear that he's not going to be bullied.
00:03:25.740 And if Iran thinks they can wait him out because the midterms, well, they're wrong.
00:03:31.120 And we have the strongest military anywhere in the world, as you know.
00:03:34.540 You saw what we did with Venezuela.
00:03:38.480 That worked out very quickly.
00:03:39.600 And we were doing really equally as well.
00:03:42.640 with but again people don't want to write about it with
00:03:46.220 Iran Iran is very much intent they want very much to make a deal so far they
00:03:52.440 haven't gotten there that we're not satisfied with it but
00:03:54.620 now we will be we will be either that or we'll have to just finish the job
00:03:59.240 but the Navy is gone as I've said a thousand times and Navy is gone
00:04:04.420 their Air Force is gone everything's gone and
00:04:07.400 they're negotiating on fumes but we'll see what happens
00:04:11.780 Maybe we have to go back and finish it. Maybe we don't. Right now, I mean, you can speak to Steve Witkoff and Jared. They're doing a good job. But right now, I think it looks like they want to just make a deal. I don't think they have a choice.
00:04:27.620 They're just going back to the Internet because they're getting clobbered.
00:04:30.320 Their economy is in freefall.
00:04:33.920 They have 250 percent inflation.
00:04:36.620 Their money has no value.
00:04:38.580 Their whole economic system is broken down.
00:04:42.780 They thought they were going to outweigh me.
00:04:44.440 You know, we'll outweigh him.
00:04:45.780 He's got the midterms.
00:04:46.780 I don't care about the midterms.
00:04:47.940 Look what happened last night.
00:04:49.060 That was the prelude to the midterms.
00:04:51.480 People understand that they know that very simple.
00:04:54.660 Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
00:04:56.380 I'm doing that for the world.
00:04:57.620 They're not doing it just for us.
00:04:59.500 And we've had great support from other nations, by the way.
00:05:02.360 We don't need it at all, but we've had great support from other nations.
00:05:06.500 The problem is you always get the support when you don't need it.
00:05:09.300 When you need it, you don't get the support.
00:05:11.460 Now, the president wasn't done with warnings.
00:05:13.780 He also addressed the growing tension surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
00:05:18.140 Now, as you know, that's one of the most strategically important shipping lanes in the world.
00:05:24.060 Roughly a fifth of the world's oil supply moves through that region,
00:05:28.060 meaning any disruption sends the global energy markets into chaos.
00:05:32.560 Now, Trump also made it clear that he is growing very frustrated with Iran dragging out the negotiations.
00:05:39.720 The president says there will be no sanctions relief, no money, no nothing,
00:05:44.320 unless Iran agrees to America's demands.
00:05:48.200 Using sanctions on Iran to allow Iran to sell its crude market.
00:05:51.880 No, we're not talking about any easing of sanctions or giving money, no sanctions, no money, no nothing.
00:05:59.280 We have control of money that they claim is theirs.
00:06:04.140 We'll keep control of that money.
00:06:06.080 When they behave properly and when they do what's right, we'll let them have their money.
00:06:10.560 But right now, we're not doing that, and one thing is not contingent on the other.
00:06:14.860 The president making it clear, strength first, pressure first, and absolutely no return to
00:06:20.980 what he views as a failed appeasement policy of past administrations.
00:06:26.100 Now, the president then moved on to border security and immigration.
00:06:30.240 Another major focus of the cabinet meeting was just that.
00:06:33.960 Trump praised his administration's crackdown on illegal immigration and argued that aggressive
00:06:39.020 enforcement measures are finally restoring order after what he described as years of
00:06:44.080 chaos.
00:06:44.860 Cabinet officials discussed increased deportation operations, expanded detention capacity,
00:06:51.440 and then efforts to target cartel networks and human trafficking organizations as well.
00:06:56.440 The president again tied border security directly to national security,
00:07:01.700 arguing that weak enforcement policies allowed criminal organizations
00:07:05.600 to gain unprecedented power around the world and inside the United States.
00:07:11.240 Trump also emphasized what he says is a major difference between his administration and the Democrats.
00:07:18.100 He says it's simply deterrence.
00:07:20.180 According to Trump, the message now being sent globally is simple.
00:07:24.440 If you enter illegally into the United States, you will be removed.
00:07:29.720 Administration officials also discussed cooperation between federal agencies and local law enforcement as part of the broader anti-cartel operations.
00:07:39.300 We took the most dangerous, unsafe, violent and open border in the world.
00:07:44.340 Anywhere in the world, there's no border like the border we had.
00:07:47.580 And created the most secure border in the history of our country.
00:07:50.740 We had no people, 12 months now, no people reported in the last 12 months.
00:07:56.420 Came in illegally, zero illegal aliens admitted to the United States in the last 12 months.
00:08:01.440 And that's, those charts are made by, you would say, politically unfriendly people.
00:08:05.840 and the reason they don't come in is because nobody comes up because they know that
00:08:10.160 they're going to be turned away and if they get in they're going to be moved out right away so
00:08:14.940 it's been zero you're the one that do you do the reports i'm actually surprised by the number
00:08:20.020 because i don't know how it can be zero but they say it's zero for the last 12 months in 2025 we
00:08:26.060 achieved the largest drop in the murder rate ever recorded so the murder rate was quite high and we
00:08:32.780 We achieved the largest drop in the murder rate ever recorded to the lowest level in 125 years.
00:08:39.580 That's the year 1900. 1.00
00:08:41.580 And that's despite the fact that many people came in from prisons and from very rough countries
00:08:47.000 and from mental institutions and from lots of other places, drug dealers.
00:08:52.460 Others, they came in illegally during the Biden administration.
00:08:55.900 We've gotten many of them out, but we still have some that we're looking for,
00:09:00.000 quite a few that we're still looking for.
00:09:01.500 but we've gotten over 11,888 murderers were allowed into our country.
00:09:07.660 We've gotten a lot of them out.
00:09:08.760 We've gotten some.
00:09:09.620 We put them in jail. 1.00
00:09:10.340 We don't even trust the country to send them because they'll come back in maybe. 0.61
00:09:15.380 We put them in jail.
00:09:16.740 Now, the president was clearly making this a midterm issue,
00:09:20.320 comparing and contrasting the Biden-Mayorkas DHS that released almost every migrant encountered,
00:09:26.620 that would be every illegal immigrant encountered, into the United States of America.
00:09:30.380 Those days are now over, thanks to President Donald Trump.
00:09:33.760 The president then moved on to the economy and energy, using the cabinet meeting to argue that his economic agenda is producing momentum despite the global oil issue.
00:09:45.760 Trump repeatedly turned to energy dominance as a central theme, arguing that America must increase domestic production while adversaries like Iran continue weakening economically.
00:09:57.580 Cabinet officials discussed inflation, manufacturing investment, supply chain issues, and the energy pricing as it is going up.
00:10:07.220 Trump argued that America's economic strength comes from producing more at home and reducing dependence on hostile foreign nations.
00:10:15.640 He also contrasted his administration's policies with what he called radical climate extremism, saying energy restrictions weaken national security and empower our adversaries overseas.
00:10:29.520 The administration framed domestic oil and gas production not only as an economic issue, but as a geopolitical weapon against countries like Iran, Russia and China.
00:10:40.700 It's down at home. So again, it's an amazing transformation. Bottom line is the center of geopolitics around energy has moved from other parts of the world to the western hemisphere. In the last five months, you turn Venezuela from a sanctioned adversary into a strategic ally in 45 minutes. Never happened in history before.
00:11:02.140 and what's going on in Alaska.
00:11:05.060 When I was there last week in Alaska, the North Slope,
00:11:07.580 80,000 barrels a day coming online at PICA.
00:11:10.400 That wouldn't have happened with you.
00:11:11.660 It's up by Willow on the North Slope.
00:11:13.440 That's going into the Alaska pipeline.
00:11:16.000 20% increase just off that one field.
00:11:19.720 So amazing work.
00:11:21.620 Energy's a high-tech industry, and those guys are crushing it,
00:11:24.880 and they're loving the fact that they can provide affordable,
00:11:28.340 reliable, secure energy for America.
00:11:30.000 and we're working very hard in california you know a lot of people don't know this but california
00:11:35.060 has tremendous tremendous oil reserves used to be number three in the nation and the radical left
00:11:41.400 has just wiped it out and we're working very hard to get that open again and get it uh so the people
00:11:47.180 their gasoline prices their lack of energy is just staggering it's staggering and we're actually
00:11:54.540 making very good progress even people that were against that at one point now they're saying wow
00:11:58.580 that would be great but people don't realize it was one of the right chris it was one of the
00:12:02.420 top drilling states one of the uh i would say in terms of reserves as among the top in the country
00:12:09.560 nobody thinks of that with california everything was just closed down really violently closed down
00:12:14.620 and we're opening up some of it and we're being met with actually great spirit because they're
00:12:21.460 paying so much for gasoline they don't have to be doing that and they have a very incompetent 0.88
00:12:26.380 group of leaders like grossly incompetent. So the big takeaway from the cabinet meeting was this.
00:12:33.520 You have a president that believes that the American people are smart enough to understand
00:12:38.060 he's doing big things and making tough choices. And the administration wanted Americans to see
00:12:44.620 a president not only fully in command, but surrounded by the cabinet officials who are
00:12:48.780 aggressively executing policy, not just on one issue, but across multiple fronts all at once.
00:12:56.380 Whether it's Iran, immigration, energy, or economic policy, the tone of the meeting was confrontational.
00:13:03.900 It was confident.
00:13:05.200 And it was designed to let you know what exactly this White House is doing for you.
00:13:11.140 And perhaps most importantly, Trump made it clear that he believes his administration now holds leverage.
00:13:17.160 Leverage over our adversaries overseas.
00:13:20.360 Leverage in negotiations.
00:13:22.420 And leverage politically heading into the midterms.
00:13:25.440 So where are we right now?
00:13:27.280 Well, President Trump is arguing that not only is he in the cabinet
00:13:30.980 showing exactly why Donald Trump's agenda of America First is so dominant,
00:13:36.700 it's also a moment for the president to remind Americans what is at stake
00:13:41.060 and where we came from under the Biden regime.
00:13:44.520 So based on these headlines, you may not get a lot of love from the media
00:13:48.960 because they want you to believe the sky is falling.
00:13:51.680 But when you look at what the president had to say,
00:13:53.720 It's pretty clear the America First policies are still moving forward and being implemented as we speak.
