00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.700 Guaranteed human.
00:00:05.860 We're making a lot of money, this country.
00:00:07.820 This country is not going to be losing money on trade anymore.
00:00:10.700 We were losing $2 trillion a year on trade.
00:00:13.760 Now we're going to be making money, a lot of money.
00:00:15.680 We'll be able to lower taxes substantially,
00:00:18.000 and we're going to be proud of ourselves.
00:00:19.760 You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
00:00:23.480 Good Thursday morning, Ben Ferguson with you.
00:00:25.700 It's nice to have you on the 47 Morning Update.
00:00:27.860 And we've got two major stories we're going to be talking about.
00:00:30.880 Number one, Donald Trump is saying that we're getting closer
00:00:34.380 to working towards a deal with China on trade.
00:00:37.680 What are the details?
00:00:38.740 I'll have that for you in just a second.
00:00:40.780 And also, a major story, as we were at the White House,
00:00:44.080 we sat down with the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security
00:00:47.660 to talk about where we are when it comes to deportations,
00:00:51.260 including those in MS-13 gangs.
00:00:53.620 We're also talking about securing the border
00:00:55.700 and what the numbers look like right now.
00:00:58.140 That, live from the White House.
00:00:59.860 It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now.
00:01:03.220 Story number one.
00:01:04.380 It is a step in the right direction.
00:01:06.520 President Donald Trump saying that the entire world now
00:01:09.860 wants to be a part of trade negotiations with the United States.
00:01:13.860 When asked about his discussions with China happening on Wednesday,
00:01:18.600 Trump's comments came during an impromptu press gaggle.
00:01:22.140 After surveying the North Lawn of the White House
00:01:25.700 for the best spot to stake a massive flagpole
00:01:29.480 for a massive American flag
00:01:31.400 that the President says he's going to pay for himself.
00:01:34.620 That's another exciting win, putting America first.
00:01:37.760 Now, the President was asked about what's happening with China
00:01:40.480 and the trade deal.
00:01:41.760 And here's the President in his own words.
00:01:44.300 Clarify, Mr. President, on China.
00:01:45.980 Are you thinking about lowering their tariffs?
00:01:48.420 Fair deal with China. It's got to be fair. 1.00
00:01:50.300 Are you talking to them actively now?
00:01:52.720 Actively. Everything's active.
00:01:54.600 Everybody wants to be a part of what we're doing.
00:01:57.300 They know that they can't get away with it any longer,
00:01:59.840 but they're still going to do fine.
00:02:01.820 And we're going to have a country that you can be proud of,
00:02:04.660 not a laughingstock, all over the world for many years.
00:02:07.900 You know, in 1913, they traded to the income tax system.
00:02:12.860 We used to be all tariff.
00:02:13.860 And we had no income tax.
00:02:16.660 So we had the wealthiest country we ever had,
00:02:18.560 proportionately, from about 1870 to 1913.
00:02:23.440 It was all tariffs.
00:02:24.520 And we did, we had more money than anybody.
00:02:27.160 They had committees, how to spend the money.
00:02:29.240 They had so much money, they didn't know how to spend.
00:02:31.080 Then some brilliant person said,
00:02:33.960 let's go income tax.
00:02:35.100 Let's let the people pay. 0.99
00:02:36.560 Now, we're going to be able to substantially lower taxes
00:02:39.580 when this is finished.
00:02:40.820 We're going to be substantially able to lower taxes
00:02:44.380 when this is finished.
00:02:46.120 The president making it very clear
00:02:48.060 that tariffs are not just about protecting America,
00:02:51.580 especially on the issue of national security,
00:02:53.880 but also that he wants to lower your taxes significantly.
00:02:58.160 He said, we're going to have a fair deal with China.
00:03:00.340 It's going to be fair.
00:03:02.320 Now, Trump also told a reporter
00:03:03.920 that the administration was, quote,
00:03:05.620 actively now talking directly with China.
00:03:08.360 Now, everything is active.
00:03:10.620 The White House notably revealed on Thursday
00:03:13.000 that the administration had received
00:03:15.260 18 formal trade offers.
00:03:18.220 And the trade team was set to meet
00:03:20.020 with 34 different countries this week alone.
00:03:23.720 Speaking broadly about trade negotiations
00:03:26.120 in the gaggle as well,
00:03:27.820 Trump said there is a lot of action going on.
00:03:31.140 They all want to be involved with America.
00:03:33.260 And we have a lot of action going on.
00:03:35.660 We're making a lot of money, this country.
00:03:38.460 This country is not going to be losing money on trade anymore.
00:03:41.460 We were losing $2 trillion a year on trade.
00:03:44.880 Now we're going to be making money, a lot of money.
00:03:47.100 So that's very good.
00:03:48.580 Every country wants to partake,
00:03:50.780 even countries that have ripped us off for many, many years.
00:03:53.660 China is an example, but it's not just China.
00:03:56.520 European Union, they ripped us off for many, many years.
00:04:00.860 And those days are over.
00:04:01.920 We're going to make a lot of money for our people.
00:04:03.820 We'll be able to lower taxes substantially.
00:04:06.880 And we're going to be proud of ourselves.
00:04:08.560 We're not going to be a laughingstock
00:04:09.980 that got taken advantage of by virtually every country in the world.
00:04:14.560 America got ripped off.
00:04:16.460 And the president says, I'm going to fix it.
00:04:19.160 Now, citing anonymous sources,
00:04:21.220 the Wall Street Journal is also reporting
00:04:23.200 that the Trump administration is weighing reducing tariffs
00:04:26.760 on Chinese goods.
00:04:28.080 The White House Press Secretary, Caroline Levitt,
00:04:30.540 shut down the prospect of a unilateral reduction
00:04:34.060 in an interview on Fox.
00:04:35.960 Here's what she said.
00:04:37.240 Let me be clear.
00:04:38.060 There will be no unilateral reduction in tariffs against China.
00:04:41.860 The president has made it clear.
00:04:43.160 China needs to make a deal with the United States of America.
00:04:46.120 And we are optimistic that will happen.
00:04:48.500 And when that continues, it will be up to the president
00:04:51.800 what the tariff rate on China will be.
00:04:54.320 But we certainly need to see a reduction in tariffs
00:04:57.640 and non-monetary tariff barriers from China as well.
00:05:00.480 And we also need to continue seeing these companies abroad
00:05:04.020 return their manufacturing to the United States of America
00:05:07.020 so we can shore up these critical supply chains.
00:05:09.660 Yet again, it looks like the media got it wrong on this story.
00:05:13.540 As the White House had to come out and say,
00:05:15.880 no, there will be no unilateral reduction in tariffs against China.
00:05:20.100 What we certainly know is this.
00:05:22.580 We need a reduction in tariffs, the White House did say,
00:05:25.800 and a non-monetary tariff barrier from China as well.
00:05:30.240 And we also need to continue seeing these companies abroad
00:05:32.900 return their manufacturing to the United States of America
00:05:36.060 so we can shore up these critical supply chain issues.
00:05:40.340 All of that coming from the White House.
00:05:42.260 So the big takeaway is yes, we are moving forward with China, 0.69
00:05:46.140 but many other countries this week as well.
00:05:48.260 And you can expect trade agreements to be announced in the very near future.
00:05:53.440 Now, story number two.
00:05:54.620 As many of you know, this show is all about giving the news
00:05:57.680 before it happens coming out of the White House.
00:06:00.040 The big stories of the day.
00:06:01.460 We're celebrating the first hundred days of the Trump administration.
00:06:05.680 I was asked to come to the White House
00:06:07.460 to sit down with many members in the administration.
00:06:10.580 One of those was Tricia McLaughlin.
00:06:12.880 She is the assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
00:06:16.300 And we sat down for an interview.
00:06:18.660 And the big issue we talked about was obviously what's happening at the border.
00:06:22.880 Here is that conversation that we did at the White House in the treaty room.
00:06:27.160 One of the big issues that so many Americans care about right now
00:06:29.980 is the issue of what's happening at the southern border.
00:06:33.660 We have done a lot to secure the border under President Trump in the first hundred days.
00:06:37.740 But then there's the issue of all the illegal immigrants that are in this country 0.99
00:06:41.900 and how we're going to deport them,
00:06:43.660 especially those that are in MS-13 gang members and Trey de la Liga gangs.
00:06:48.280 This is still a major issue for safety for so many Americans.
00:06:52.240 So joining me now to talk about this is Tricia McLaughlin.
00:06:54.680 She is the assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
00:06:57.780 Tricia, it's a pleasure to have you here and to talk about this.
00:07:01.380 Let's go to the headlines and start there.
00:07:03.260 You've got this story of a MS-13 gang member who even his own wife was making sure
00:07:09.300 that his knuckles where they had the tattoo of the MS-13 gang symbol
00:07:13.660 was not on social media and some of her postings.
00:07:17.220 Then the media tried to say that he was not a gang member,
00:07:20.680 that this was terrible, that we kicked him out of this country,
00:07:23.320 and that we sent him to El Salvador, and they're demanding him back.
00:07:25.600 And now Democrats have gone all in on this.
00:07:27.380 Like there's delegations using taxpayer dollars to go and meet with this person,
00:07:31.860 not meet with family members and victims in this country,
00:07:34.740 those that have been terrorized, those that have been killed,
00:07:36.860 those that have been raped and murdered by this gang that is a terrorist organization.
00:07:41.040 And now we're also seeing lawfare and the courts trying to say,
00:07:43.460 no, no, no, President Trump, you can't keep Americans safe as well.
00:07:46.580 Exactly, Ben.
00:07:47.240 And there really is a concerted effort by the media and Democrats
00:07:50.240 to whitewash this story, whitewash who this guy is,
00:07:53.700 that he's some innocent Maryland father when he's anything but.
00:07:57.700 First and foremost, he is in the country illegally. 0.96
00:08:00.240 He had final deportation orders.
00:08:02.280 But let's go through the timeline a little bit to describe who this guy,
00:08:05.400 Abrego Garcia, actually is.
00:08:07.400 When he was initially arrested in 2019,
00:08:10.040 he was found, among other MS-13 gang members, decked out in MS-13 gear,
00:08:15.340 having different MS-13 symbols on it.
00:08:17.580 He was found with drugs and rolls of money as well.
00:08:21.280 Two separate immigration judges found that he was an MS-13 gang member,
00:08:26.740 as well as the Prince George's County gang unit.
00:08:29.120 Keep in mind, Prince George County, Maryland, isn't exactly some red haven.
00:08:32.680 It is very blue.
00:08:34.480 They found that he is in MS-13 as well.
00:08:38.240 Flash forward to 2021, his wife, his own wife, who, like you said, 0.51
00:08:42.420 was covering up his knuckles, filed a domestic restraining order against him
00:08:47.680 for slapping her, for ripping off her shirt, for pinching and scratching her.
00:08:52.180 She, in her own written testimony, said how she feared for her children
00:08:55.620 and tried to take them away from him.
00:08:57.880 And then, Ben, if I may, one more time, is in 2022,
00:09:02.300 he was pulled over by the Tennessee State Highway Patrol,
00:09:05.500 during which he was allegedly taking eight individuals from Texas to Maryland
00:09:11.540 on a three-day journey, on a three-day journey with eight people,
00:09:14.860 and there was not a single piece of luggage in that vehicle.
00:09:18.740 That reeks of human trafficking.
00:09:20.780 That is textbook.
00:09:22.340 And so we're left to believe that, oh, no, this is an innocent guy.
00:09:25.580 And by the way, let's be clear, the Biden administration,
00:09:27.740 the FBI said, no, no, no, just let him go.
00:09:29.520 Don't worry about that.
00:09:30.680 There's certainly more to the story,
00:09:32.340 and I'd love to hear more from the FBI and what went down there.
00:09:35.080 So you look at this guy, and he's over there,
00:09:38.120 and now the media has become like he's some sort of folk hero for them.
00:09:43.780 The Democratic Party is spending taxpayer dollars to go down there
00:09:46.660 and meet with him like he's a celebrity.
00:09:48.920 You have senators that are holding his hand like he's been persecuted
00:09:51.480 by the United States of America and demands to bring him back.
00:09:54.400 What, so he can deport him to another country as soon as he gets here?
00:09:57.160 Because that's exactly what could happen.
00:09:58.760 It's remarkable to me that this is the hill
00:10:01.240 that the Democrats and media are willing to die on,
00:10:03.380 that they have one small shred of any credibility left,
00:10:07.160 and this is what they're going to burn it on,
00:10:09.160 is this MS-13 gang member.
00:10:10.760 Americans should remember who MS-13 is. 0.88
00:10:13.800 It is a vicious gang that sex traffics, that human traffics, 1.00
00:10:18.440 that maims, rapes, and kills Americans for sport. 0.99
00:10:21.840 These are people who should not be in our country 0.96
00:10:23.780 and should be hunted down and locked up immediately.
00:10:26.980 You just look at some of the things that apparently were found on his devices,
00:10:30.760 and that's one of the things that I found interesting on the reporting
00:10:34.260 is you look at what they share, MS-13 gang members.
00:10:37.040 They share the pictures of beheadings, the butchering of humans,
00:10:40.940 and then yet they're trying to say,
00:10:42.200 oh, this guy's a victim who broke into America.
00:10:45.280 Anything but.
00:10:46.140 And that is, I mean, if you look at the crime on American streets
00:10:49.040 and the crimes by these illegal immigrant gangs, 0.81
00:10:52.080 so much of the time they're done by MS-13,
00:10:54.460 they're done by Trende Aragua,
00:10:56.020 they're done by these other vicious gangs,
00:10:58.380 they shouldn't have been here in the first place
00:11:00.160 because they're in the country illegally, 0.96
00:11:01.740 much less the fact that with impunity
00:11:04.500 they've been allowed to rain terror on American streets
00:11:07.440 for the last four years.
00:11:08.760 Let's talk about the court system now,
00:11:10.980 and we've seen these activist judges
00:11:12.440 who are stepping in and using lawfare
00:11:14.660 to say, hey, the president can't do this anymore.
00:11:17.480 You can't just ship people off to the other countries.
00:11:19.960 We're going to stop you every step of the way.
00:11:22.680 What is the administration's response to that?
00:11:25.160 How long is it going to take for this to play out?
00:11:27.680 I think ultimately, President Trump, Secretary Noem,
00:11:30.400 and this entire administration
00:11:31.500 are going to be victorious on this issue.
00:11:34.300 On November 5th, 2024,
00:11:36.760 there is a clear mandate from the American people
00:11:39.780 that we need to get criminal illegal aliens 0.99
00:11:42.120 out of this country.
00:11:43.700 There was likely 10 to 20 million illegal aliens
00:11:46.580 who came into this country under Joe Biden.
00:11:48.720 The American people are done with it.
00:11:50.600 Look, whether Garcia is in an American detention facility
00:11:53.940 or in El Salvador,
00:11:54.820 what matters really is that he's locked up,
00:11:57.200 but I do think ultimately this will be sorted out.
00:12:00.780 We will ensure that these individuals have due process.
00:12:03.440 That was what the Supreme Court was most concerned about
00:12:06.080 was the amount of time these individuals were given notice,
00:12:08.780 but we're going to be very clear
00:12:11.060 that despite the fact that these are terrorists,
00:12:13.980 these are criminal gang members,
00:12:15.660 this is still the United States of America,
00:12:17.160 and we guarantee due process under the U.S. Constitution.
00:12:20.640 So when you look forward after,
00:12:23.060 we're at the 100-day mark in essence,
00:12:25.100 and this is pretty awesome
00:12:26.180 because there's a lot that's been done.
00:12:27.800 The border is now more secure than it's been in decades.
00:12:30.940 The number of people are coming across,
00:12:32.240 I think the message that the president sent loud and clear
00:12:34.460 was you come here now, it's game on.
00:12:36.940 We're seeing that the number of crossings
00:12:38.720 have dropped significantly.
00:12:40.620 But there's the big question of,
00:12:42.920 okay, there's a lot of people
00:12:43.980 that got in under the Biden years,
00:12:45.580 there's literally millions.
00:12:46.740 How are we going to unwind all of that in an orderly fashion?
00:12:50.780 Yeah, I think that we're working to do just that.
00:12:52.940 Secretary Noem was handed a tough task,
00:12:55.140 and she's taking it on miraculously.
00:12:57.260 Look at the border, as you just mentioned.
00:12:59.260 We virtually have operational control of the border.
00:13:01.820 Border crossings are down 95%.
00:13:03.940 That is, by all accounts,
00:13:05.740 the most secure border in American history.
00:13:08.400 That's in less than 90 days.
00:13:10.000 It's pretty remarkable.
00:13:11.840 But we also have to look at
00:13:13.040 our legal immigration system as well.
00:13:15.840 The Biden administration in Mallorca
00:13:17.840 has used parole programs,
00:13:19.240 temporary protected status,
00:13:20.580 and these other programs
00:13:22.280 to allow illegal immigrants
00:13:24.500 to come into this country unvetted.
00:13:27.500 We don't know really who's in this country,
00:13:29.200 so we have to really take a pause
00:13:30.560 and go through,
00:13:31.880 who did we let in for the last four years?
00:13:34.620 So I think it's going to take,
00:13:36.360 also, an unleashed ICE.
00:13:38.540 Secretary Noem has been remarkable in that.
00:13:40.500 But the fact is, for the last four years,
00:13:42.760 Biden did not allow these ICE agents
00:13:44.980 to actually do their jobs.
00:13:46.580 They were disincentivized
00:13:47.540 from making any of these arrests,
00:13:48.960 whether it be just illegal aliens 0.97
00:13:51.580 to criminal, vicious aliens 0.98
00:13:53.260 like these MS-13 members, 0.96
00:13:54.960 as we've mentioned before.
00:13:56.420 So we have a tall task,
00:13:58.540 and we've got to get these arrest numbers up.
00:14:00.400 But that's part of the reason
00:14:01.200 why Secretary Noem is on the ground,
00:14:03.600 you know, on a weekly basis
00:14:05.120 with our enforcement officers
00:14:06.520 from Border and Protection Patrol
00:14:09.980 and from ICE to make sure
00:14:11.940 that we're getting them
00:14:12.720 the resources they need
00:14:13.640 to be successful
00:14:14.460 to get these arrest numbers up
00:14:15.740 and to make sure
00:14:16.440 they're safe on the job.
00:14:17.420 Let's talk about detention detainers
00:14:19.760 that ICE needs in the court systems.
00:14:22.300 They need these courts
00:14:23.320 to alert them
00:14:23.860 when they have somebody in custody
00:14:25.000 that clearly needs to be deported.
00:14:26.980 We still are seeing activists
00:14:28.560 that are not allowing
00:14:29.400 for that to happen.
00:14:30.680 How big of an issue
00:14:31.460 is that going to be moving forward,
00:14:32.760 and is there more
00:14:33.240 that the White House can do
00:14:34.140 to stop that from being a thing?
00:14:35.740 Yeah, I think the Department of Justice
00:14:36.980 under Attorney General Pam Bondi
00:14:38.820 is definitely looking at options
00:14:40.560 with these sanctuary cities.
00:14:42.160 Like you mentioned,
00:14:43.240 if ICE isn't able to lodge
00:14:44.940 these detainers
00:14:45.680 against these criminal aliens, 0.99
00:14:47.080 that they could be released
00:14:48.240 into American communities
00:14:49.620 and go out and commit the same act.
00:14:51.420 Actually, a couple weeks ago,
00:14:52.520 Secretary Noem was in New York City,
00:14:55.700 and a lot of listeners
00:14:56.860 will probably remember
00:14:58.040 this really heinous crime
00:14:59.840 at Coney Island,
00:15:01.500 the subway station there,
00:15:02.640 where this illegal immigrant 0.96
00:15:03.980 lit this woman on fire 1.00
00:15:05.240 and killed her. 1.00
00:15:05.880 It was incredibly depraved. 0.96
00:15:08.300 ICE tried to lodge a detainer,
00:15:10.220 and we are not sure
00:15:11.100 if that's going to be honored.
00:15:12.380 So we don't know if and when
00:15:13.760 this guy will get out,
00:15:14.620 but if he's not,
00:15:15.180 he could be released
00:15:15.940 back into New York,
00:15:17.240 even though he's
00:15:17.860 in this country illegally.
00:15:18.940 That's the kind of cases
00:15:20.000 we have to end.
00:15:21.540 And that's why, I mean,
00:15:22.480 case in point,
00:15:23.540 why sanctuary cities
00:15:24.320 are so dangerous.
00:15:26.620 Final question for you
00:15:28.020 on moving forward
00:15:29.340 in the next 100 days.
00:15:30.220 What do you expect
00:15:31.060 the headlines to be
00:15:32.140 from this administration
00:15:33.960 on this issue?
00:15:34.860 Obviously, the border's secure.
00:15:36.440 We can check that box.
00:15:38.120 We're doing more.
00:15:38.800 But where is this going to go,
00:15:40.200 and what can the American
00:15:41.080 people expect?
00:15:42.020 I think you're going to see
00:15:42.800 ramped up deportation numbers.
00:15:44.240 I think you're going to see
00:15:45.040 more agreements
00:15:46.440 with third-party countries,
00:15:48.100 whether you see that
00:15:49.120 with El Salvador,
00:15:49.880 that they're taking
00:15:50.420 some of our most vicious,
00:15:52.120 worst-to-worst criminal aliens. 0.88
00:15:53.420 I think you're going to see 0.72
00:15:54.120 more of that
00:15:54.960 from other countries
00:15:55.740 to make sure
00:15:56.240 that these guys
00:15:56.760 are off of American soil 0.99
00:15:58.280 and take part
00:15:59.600 in getting their folks back.
00:16:02.660 I also think
00:16:03.640 we're going to see more,
00:16:04.660 you know,
00:16:04.860 we're going to see more action
00:16:05.700 with the courts
00:16:06.560 and some of these
00:16:07.140 activist judges,
00:16:08.040 but we're not going
00:16:08.460 to let it stop us.
00:16:09.480 We have deportation flights
00:16:10.800 going almost every single day,
00:16:12.540 and Alien Anoumi's Act
00:16:14.320 is only one tool
00:16:15.260 in our arsenal.
00:16:15.940 We have a lot of authorities
00:16:16.920 to get these people
00:16:17.720 out of the country.
