00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.660 Guaranteed human.
00:00:05.820 Well, I just think you should be more appreciative
00:00:07.840 because this country has stuck with them
00:00:09.900 through thick and thin.
00:00:11.200 They were a lot smarter than Joe Biden
00:00:12.800 because Joe Biden didn't have a clue.
00:00:14.340 He just gave money hand over fist
00:00:15.980 and they're losing thousands of soldiers a week.
00:00:18.800 And I want to see it stop.
00:00:20.260 You're listening to the 47 Morning Update
00:00:22.780 with Ben Ferguson.
00:00:24.160 Good Tuesday morning, Ben Ferguson with you.
00:00:26.520 And these are the big stories we're talking about
00:00:28.280 on the 47 Morning Update.
00:00:30.300 First up, Donald Trump is set to address
00:00:32.840 a joint session of Congress tonight.
00:00:35.100 So what is the president going to say to you?
00:00:37.900 I have those details exclusively for you
00:00:40.340 in just a moment.
00:00:41.320 Also, cartel members are being arrested by the FBI.
00:00:46.080 Why wasn't this happening for the last four years
00:00:48.380 under Biden and Harris?
00:00:49.640 I have that as well.
00:00:50.740 And finally, Donald Trump decides to stop
00:00:53.940 military funding for Ukraine.
00:00:56.340 And Democrats react with rage and anger.
00:01:00.040 It's the 47 Morning Update.
00:01:01.880 And it starts right now.
00:01:03.460 Story number one.
00:01:04.560 Donald Trump will be addressing
00:01:05.920 a joint session of Congress tonight.
00:01:08.060 And more important than that,
00:01:09.180 he'll be addressing the American people.
00:01:11.000 Now in politics, momentum is everything.
00:01:13.420 And right now, the American people
00:01:15.380 are behind Donald Trump.
00:01:17.160 So what can you expect this evening
00:01:19.080 from the president?
00:01:20.120 Well, Donald Trump said he vows to
00:01:22.400 tell it like it is when talking to you,
00:01:25.080 the American people.
00:01:26.000 This will be Donald Trump's first
00:01:28.080 congressional address of his second presidency.
00:01:30.920 And he understands it is an important one.
00:01:33.700 Now, this also is a speech that he will give
00:01:35.860 just four days after he said Zelensky,
00:01:39.520 well, get the hell out of the White House
00:01:41.140 after that exchange with the president
00:01:43.160 and the vice president, J.D. Vance,
00:01:45.280 and Marco Rubio, the secretary of state.
00:01:48.600 Donald Trump and Vance, as you know,
00:01:50.260 called Zelensky disrespectful
00:01:51.700 during their White House meeting Friday
00:01:53.380 over bringing an end to the Russian-Ukraine war.
00:01:57.180 Now, before the fallout,
00:01:58.300 the Ukrainian president had been expected
00:01:59.920 to sign a major mineral deal
00:02:01.920 with the United States of America.
00:02:03.740 They would also clearly give protection to Ukraine.
00:02:07.220 Minutes before his big post on True Social,
00:02:10.440 Trump wrote,
00:02:10.920 the only president who gave none of Ukraine's land
00:02:14.340 to Putin's Russia
00:02:15.560 is President Donald J. Trump.
00:02:17.520 Remember that when the weak
00:02:18.720 and ineffective Democrats criticize
00:02:20.820 and the fake news
00:02:21.880 gladly puts out anything they say.
00:02:25.480 Reports on Monday said
00:02:26.900 Trump was expected to meet with top aides
00:02:29.480 to also bring suspension
00:02:32.240 of U.S. military aid to Ukraine.
00:02:35.120 I'll have more on that for you in a moment.
00:02:37.240 But what we do know is this,
00:02:39.060 the Republican-led House and Senate,
00:02:41.000 they are listing the president for leadership
00:02:43.380 as they're trying to hammer out
00:02:44.920 a major budget legislation package
00:02:47.540 that supports Donald Trump's agenda,
00:02:50.540 including the extension of his 2016 Trump tax cuts,
00:02:55.920 as well as securing the U.S.-Mexico border
00:02:58.400 and stopping the flow of fentanyl
00:03:00.880 during his speech to Congress
00:03:02.360 will be themes,
00:03:03.700 I've been told by several at the White House.
00:03:05.960 Now, during Trump's first month in office,
00:03:08.520 illegal border crossings dropped
00:03:10.000 to their lowest levels in more than two decades.
00:03:13.360 That according to government statistics.
00:03:15.600 Now, with his Department of Government Efficiency,
00:03:18.180 headed by Elon Musk,
00:03:19.500 creating much fanfare due to the staff cuts
00:03:22.420 and the findings of massive waste, fraud, and abuse,
00:03:26.420 there is assurances that Donald Trump
00:03:28.500 will also address exactly what Doge has done
00:03:31.420 for the American people.
00:03:32.860 Now, finally, you can also expect the president
00:03:35.100 to talk about his tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada
00:03:38.840 and an additional tariff on China.
00:03:41.480 Trump has said the tariffs will go into effect Tuesday
00:03:45.120 if there is no movement from other countries
00:03:48.160 to get better deals with the United States.
00:03:51.160 And it is something that he will proudly talk about
00:03:53.820 as he addresses Congress.
00:03:55.200 Now, one final point that you should also make note of watching
00:03:59.220 when the president speaks tonight
00:04:00.740 is honestly just how excited he is
00:04:03.720 and how much fun he's having
00:04:05.540 doing what the American people have told him to do.
00:04:09.260 There does seem to be a very different Donald Trump this time
00:04:11.940 than what we saw in 2016.
00:04:14.300 And that is something that many Americans are saying
00:04:17.180 they're enjoying watching.
00:04:19.160 Next, story number two.
00:04:20.540 One of the most important campaign promises
00:04:22.580 from Donald Trump was that if he was elected,
00:04:24.860 he was going to go after the cartel members
00:04:27.580 and declare that they are terrorist organizations.
00:04:29.840 He promised to do more to keep Americans safe
00:04:33.000 from these terrorist organizations.
00:04:35.580 And, well, they're paying off right away.
00:04:37.740 The new FBI director, Cash Patel,
00:04:39.940 announced the apprehension of eight Mexicans
00:04:43.920 wanted for murder and major drug trafficking.
00:04:47.880 The Federal Bureau of Investigations announcing
00:04:50.220 that the agency took into United States custody
00:04:53.740 the eight men from Mexico wanted by the FBI
00:04:57.020 for murder and drug trafficking charges this week.
00:05:00.180 In fact, two were FBI top 10 most wanted fugitives.
00:05:05.340 Quote, the FBI and our partners
00:05:07.800 will scour the ends of the earth
00:05:10.920 to bring terrorists and cartel members to justice,
00:05:14.560 Cash Patel said in a statement.
00:05:16.240 The error of harming Americans
00:05:18.380 and walking free is over.
00:05:21.460 The eight men included Rafael Caro Quintero,
00:05:25.380 a former FBI top 10 most wanted fugitive,
00:05:28.940 wanted for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping
00:05:31.920 and the murder of Drug Enforcement Administration
00:05:34.960 special agent Salazar back in 1985.
00:05:40.080 The FBI said that Quintero is widely regarded
00:05:43.180 as one of the Mexican godfathers of drug trafficking
00:05:47.060 and helped to form the Guadalajara cartel
00:05:50.200 in the late 1970s.
00:05:52.280 Allegedly, he had become one of the primary suppliers
00:05:55.040 of heroin, cocaine, and marijuana in the U.S.
00:05:58.360 and oversaw the cartel in Costa Rica
00:06:00.880 and at the U.S.-Mexico border.
00:06:03.840 Another major arrest was a man
00:06:05.760 by the name of Jose Hernandez,
00:06:07.920 also known as El Gato.
00:06:09.880 He is another former FBI top 10 most wanted fugitive
00:06:13.500 who has also been apprehended.
00:06:15.560 He is allegedly responsible for stalking
00:06:18.280 and orchestrating the murder for hire
00:06:20.120 of a 43-year-old male victim in May of 2013
00:06:24.420 in Southlake, Texas, according to the FBI.
00:06:28.260 Hernandez previously held a high-level position
00:06:31.460 in the BLO drug cartel
00:06:34.160 and is believed to have overseen the importation
00:06:37.440 of large quantities of cocaine into the U.S.
00:06:40.860 as well as committing violent acts
00:06:43.260 within the Republic of Mexico
00:06:44.940 and within the U.S.
00:06:46.620 to maintain his organization's power and status.
00:06:50.720 He was arrested January the 7th of 2023 in Mexico.
00:06:55.620 Now, the case was investigated by the FBI
00:06:58.340 and now they have him in custody,
00:07:02.260 also charging him for interstate stalking
00:07:05.220 and conspiracy to commit murder for hire.
00:07:08.780 Now, these are just two of the 10 major arrests
00:07:12.140 and the question that every American
00:07:14.020 should be asking right now is this.
00:07:16.220 Why is it that so many of these people
00:07:18.860 were allowed to walk free among us
00:07:21.260 and around the world
00:07:22.340 and to terrorize Americans
00:07:23.980 under the previous administration?
00:07:26.920 Yes, it really does come down to leadership
00:07:29.180 because when the president changed
00:07:31.100 and he started making changes at the FBI,
00:07:33.660 now it is clear that these cartel terrorists
00:07:37.040 are on notice that we're coming for you.
00:07:40.060 And finally, story number three.
00:07:41.740 In a major move, President Trump has halted.
00:07:45.080 We've now being told all weapon sales to Ukraine.
00:07:48.440 We also are being told that Donald Trump
00:07:50.380 is considering freezing weapon shipments
00:07:52.660 from the U.S. stockpiles.
00:07:54.080 This coming from a Wall Street Journal exclusive.
00:07:57.380 Let me give you some more of the background.
00:07:59.380 The Trump administration, they have confirmed,
00:08:01.880 has halted new weapon sales to Ukraine
00:08:04.020 and they are contemplating freezing all shipments
00:08:07.600 from U.S. stockpiles,
00:08:08.940 actions that could significantly impair Ukraine's defense
00:08:13.200 against Russian forces.
00:08:15.580 This decision follows a contentious Oval Office meeting
00:08:18.220 between Trump and Zelensky,
00:08:19.960 during which Trump criticized Zelensky's assertion
00:08:22.280 that the war's end might be distant
00:08:24.920 and suggested the U.S. military aid could be suspended
00:08:28.140 if Ukraine does not actively pursue
00:08:30.540 peace negotiations with the U.S.
00:08:32.720 Now, the suspension includes halting new deals
00:08:36.280 through the U.S. foreign military financing system,
00:08:39.420 which is vital for maintaining Ukraine's military capabilities.
00:08:43.480 Analysts are warning that without U.S. support,
00:08:45.900 Ukraine's ability to resist Russian aggression
00:08:48.660 could be severely compromised.
00:08:50.920 European allies and Ukraine's defense industry
00:08:54.060 may partially be able to compensate,
00:08:56.800 we're also hearing at this hour.
00:08:58.260 But the loss of advanced U.S. weaponry
00:09:00.360 presents a significant challenge.
00:09:02.720 European leaders have expressed concern
00:09:05.140 over the shift in U.S. foreign policy.
00:09:07.760 The French President Macron
00:09:09.060 has proposed a temporary truce
00:09:11.220 to facilitate the negotiations,
00:09:13.800 with Europe showing willingness
00:09:14.980 to support peacekeeping efforts,
00:09:16.960 although Trump remains resistance
00:09:18.540 to any U.S. government involvement.
00:09:21.600 European officials are advocating
00:09:23.700 for a truce and calling for U.S.-European unity,
00:09:26.900 while Trump has signaled that Zelensky
00:09:28.580 must agree to a ceasefire on U.S. terms
00:09:31.380 or face potential consequences.
00:09:33.940 Now, the Trump administration
00:09:35.300 and these recent actions indicate
00:09:37.220 a significant shift in the U.S. foreign policy
00:09:40.880 regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict,
00:09:43.200 especially after the way that Zelensky
00:09:44.880 acted in the Oval Office,
00:09:47.300 making it very clear he is profiting off war
00:09:49.680 and has no intentions of stopping this war
00:09:52.420 or negotiating for peace.
00:09:54.400 Now, this move also puts Zelensky
00:09:57.040 in an awkward situation
00:09:58.580 with the Ukrainian citizens.
00:10:00.680 There has not been an election there
00:10:02.060 since the war broke out.
00:10:03.580 Many believe that he is a dictator,
00:10:05.940 a de facto leader of the country,
00:10:07.840 because no one really knows who supports him.
00:10:10.860 And if you're a citizen of Ukraine
00:10:12.680 and you see that the number one thing
00:10:14.740 that is keeping you somewhat safe,
00:10:16.820 which is U.S. military armory,
00:10:19.460 and you're going to lose that,
00:10:21.820 then the people in Ukraine
00:10:24.040 may turn against Zelensky.
00:10:26.480 This is the first time
00:10:27.360 we've seen major leaders in Ukraine
00:10:29.000 standing up to Zelensky.
00:10:30.740 The question now will be,
00:10:32.200 what will happen in the days and weeks ahead
00:10:34.700 as the man who says he's in charge of Ukraine returns?
00:10:38.640 Now, Zelensky has been blasted
00:10:39.940 by Ukrainian lawmakers
00:10:41.240 for the first time publicly
00:10:43.020 for arguing with President Trump
00:10:45.100 because even they understand
00:10:47.020 just how important the relationship is.
00:10:49.760 A prominent Ukrainian lawmaker
00:10:51.220 declared it was absolute idiocy
00:10:53.480 for President Zelensky
00:10:54.780 to openly argue with U.S. President Trump
00:10:56.880 in front of the world
00:10:57.560 during their Oval Office meeting on Friday.
00:10:59.520 The member of the parliament in Kiev
00:11:01.860 lamented that Ukrainians' relationship
00:11:04.020 with President Trump
00:11:04.860 came to an end on Friday
00:11:06.460 after a heated White House meeting,
00:11:08.540 and he accused Zelensky
00:11:10.400 of not understanding
00:11:11.300 what leadership actually looks like.
00:11:13.680 He went on to write on Facebook
00:11:15.300 absolute idiocy
00:11:16.660 to start arguing, all caps,
00:11:19.280 with the President of the United States
00:11:20.800 in front of the cameras,
00:11:22.300 adding that it can be done
00:11:23.920 and probably should be done,
00:11:25.200 but not in front of the cameras.
00:11:28.180 This is the first time
00:11:29.400 we've seen major leaders in Ukraine
00:11:31.040 standing up to Zelensky.
00:11:32.740 The question now will be,
00:11:34.180 what will happen in the days and weeks ahead
00:11:36.720 as the man who says
00:11:38.220 he's in charge of Ukraine returns?
