00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.

00:00:02.580 Guaranteed human.

00:00:04.860 I say that we cannot have corrupt elections.

00:00:07.900 If we have to, if they don't straighten it out.

00:00:10.140 As an example, voter ID.

00:00:12.140 Why don't the Democrats want voter ID?

00:00:15.320 You know who does want voter ID?

00:00:17.060 Democrat voters want it, but Democrat politicians don't.

00:00:20.760 Why don't they want it?

00:00:21.740 Because they want to cheat on elections.

00:00:23.860 If they don't want voter ID, that means they want to cheat.

00:00:26.480 We can't allow cheating on elections.

00:00:28.240 You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.

00:00:32.400 Good Thursday morning.

00:00:33.460 Nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update.

00:00:36.160 And we've got one major story for you.

00:00:38.400 Donald Trump sits down with NBC News in a wide-ranging interview.

00:00:42.620 Talking about exactly what he's doing for Americans.

00:00:45.320 What his plans are moving forward.

00:00:47.340 And even trolling the media a little bit as well.

00:00:50.720 Why is it that the media hates Trump so much?

00:00:53.420 Especially when he's willing to do these types of interviews.

00:00:56.720 Answer virtually any question.

00:00:59.280 We're going to play some of it for you.

00:01:01.160 And you'll hear directly from President Donald Trump.

00:01:04.000 It's the 47 Morning Update.

00:01:05.720 And it starts right now.

00:01:07.400 Story number one.

00:01:08.540 Donald Trump sitting down with NBC News.

00:01:11.220 Having a very blunt and honest conversation.

00:01:13.740 Focusing on all of the substantive changes that we've had during the Trump administration.

00:01:19.700 He talked about American confidence.

00:01:22.220 Number one, saying that he has strong confidence on interest rates.

00:01:26.300 Which are going to help all Americans.

00:01:28.560 Trump said there is, quote,

00:01:29.780 Not much doubt that the U.S. interest rates will be lowered by the Federal Reserve.

00:01:35.480 Signaling much more favorable borrowing costs ahead for consumers.

00:01:39.780 That is something that the markets and many business owners, he said, are welcoming.

00:01:44.660 He also emphasized that his nominee for the Fed chair understands his priority.

00:01:50.600 The president also said that it's important that we allow the DOJ to handle business deals.

00:01:57.560 This just hours after that antitrust hearing on Netflix.

00:02:02.580 In contrast to his earlier comments, Trump stated he would not intervene in the high profile corporate competition between Netflix and Paramount.

00:02:11.940 Over it, the potential acquisition of Warner Brothers Discovery.

00:02:15.880 Instead, letting the Department of Justice review it independently.

00:02:19.660 This shift was framed as respecting the process and reducing political influence on business decisions.

00:02:28.460 The president also said that we're making great strides when it comes to immigration.

00:02:34.500 Trump saying his administration learned it might be wise to take a little bit of a softer touch.

00:02:40.220 Yes, that is the president's words.

00:02:42.300 In certain immigration enforcement situations.

00:02:44.720 While still emphasizing toughness where needed.

00:02:47.920 This was presented as a sign of responsiveness and learning from experience.

00:02:53.280 Something Democrats are, well, very concerned.

00:02:57.060 The president also talked about money.

00:03:00.060 And the American people.

00:03:02.040 His administration and the national debt saying this.

00:03:05.820 Let's get to the Fed.

00:03:06.820 Is there any doubt in your mind that interest rates are going to be lowered?

00:03:10.500 Not much.

00:03:11.980 Why?

00:03:12.280 How can you say that?

00:03:12.900 I just think they're going to be lowered.

00:03:14.560 Is your new Fed pick on board with that?

00:03:16.720 We're way high.

00:03:17.960 Okay, we're way high in interest.

00:03:19.700 We have now, with me, and with all the money, I've always been good at money.

00:03:24.540 And with all the money coming into our country, we're a rich country again.

00:03:28.500 We have debt, but we also have growth.

00:03:30.780 And the growth will soon make the debt look very small.

00:03:34.300 Because the greatest way, you have two ways.

00:03:36.300 You can cut, cut, cut.

00:03:37.700 And we do that anyway.

00:03:38.860 We did that.

00:03:40.220 You know, we got rid of hundreds of thousands of federal workers.

00:03:44.580 And those workers went out and got themselves jobs in the free enterprise system.

00:03:50.460 And you know what?

00:03:50.960 That's called making America great again.

00:03:52.820 We had 10 workers in the federal government for every single job.

00:03:57.460 When the Democrats go in, they hire.

00:04:00.120 I could right now give you the best employment numbers in history.

00:04:04.020 You know what I do?

00:04:04.660 Go out and hire two million people, put them in the federal government.

00:04:07.200 Does your new Fed pick understand that you want him to lower interest rates?

00:04:11.740 Well, I think he does, but I think he wants to anyway.

00:04:13.900 I mean, if he came in and said, I want to raise him, we should have.

00:04:16.620 If he said that, he wouldn't have gotten the job.

00:04:17.680 He would not have gotten the job, no.

00:04:20.080 You listen to the president there.

00:04:21.580 Two points he's obviously making.

00:04:23.480 Number one, I'm not going to fake the numbers of the federal government

00:04:26.320 on employment.

00:04:27.580 I'm not going to go hire two million government workers,

00:04:30.020 which is what the Democrats did to artificially inflate the employment numbers.

00:04:35.000 He said, I can give you the best employment numbers in history.

00:04:37.240 But guess what?

00:04:37.880 You as a taxpayer are going to be paying for it.

00:04:40.420 And he's also talking about how it's important to have a Fed chairman

00:04:43.300 that understands that Americans need someone on their side to help them survive.

00:04:48.280 That being a big part of the conversation.

00:04:51.020 Now, Donald Trump also moved on to foreign policy issues,

00:04:54.340 talking about what's happening in Iran.

00:04:57.160 The president saying this to NBC News.

00:05:00.040 Should the supreme leader in Iran be worried right now?

00:05:03.680 I would say he should be very worried, yeah.

00:05:06.220 He should be.

00:05:07.340 As you know, they're negotiating with us.

00:05:09.120 I know they are, but the protesters have said, you know,

00:05:11.360 where are the Americans?

00:05:12.560 You promised them we would have their back.

00:05:14.160 Do we still have their back?

00:05:14.900 Well, we've had their back.

00:05:16.080 And look, that country's a mess right now because of us.

00:05:19.220 We went in, we wiped out their nuclear. 0.71

00:05:21.940 So that's the question.

00:05:22.760 If you wiped them out.

00:05:23.340 We had peace in the Middle East.

00:05:25.080 If I didn't take out their nuclear, think of it.

00:05:28.000 If we didn't take out that nuclear, we wouldn't have peace in the Middle East 0.99

00:05:31.600 because the Arab countries could have never done that.

00:05:33.800 They were very, very afraid of Iran.

00:05:36.280 They're not afraid of Iran anymore.

00:05:38.880 We wiped out those beautiful B-2 bombers. 0.98

00:05:41.360 One's right over there.

00:05:42.780 That was a beautiful little model.

00:05:44.700 Those beautiful B-2 bombers went in and they hit their target every single bomb 0.67

00:05:49.440 and obliterated it.

00:05:51.080 And because of that, they were going to have a nuclear weapon within one month.

00:05:55.800 Within one month, they were going to have a nuclear weapon.

00:05:58.700 That was a big threat.

00:06:00.340 They're not going to have it anymore.

00:06:01.580 But if we obliterated, what's the deal about?

00:06:04.780 I mean, if there's no more, are they trying to restart the nuclear program?

00:06:07.860 Well, I heard that they are.

00:06:09.080 And if they do, and I let them know, if they do, we're going to send them right back

00:06:12.440 and do their job again.

00:06:13.620 So you're understanding that they tried to restart it and that's why you're threatening force?

00:06:16.940 They tried to go back to the site.

00:06:18.840 They weren't even able to get near it.

00:06:20.400 There was total obliteration.

00:06:21.880 But they were thinking about starting a new site in a different part of the country.

00:06:26.800 We found out about it.

00:06:27.940 I said, you do that, we're going to do very bad things to you.

00:06:32.100 We're going to do very bad things to you.

00:06:34.340 The president not backing down on any of his promises there.

00:06:39.000 The president Trump also asked the, of course, obsession question by the media.

00:06:44.600 And that is, it's somehow he's going to stay in office for like a third term.

00:06:49.820 NBC News actually taking the time to ask the president this question.

00:06:54.580 And he had a little fun with it.

00:06:55.880 On January 21st, 2029, do you see any scenario where you are still president?

00:07:02.680 I don't know.

00:07:04.460 It would be interesting.

00:07:05.920 But wouldn't it be terrible if I agreed with, you know, if I gave you the answer that you're looking for?

00:07:10.580 It would make life so much less exciting, right?

00:07:13.840 It would be so much less exciting.

00:07:16.140 But I only do this for one reason.

00:07:19.600 Make America great again.

00:07:21.020 And that's what we're doing.

00:07:22.220 We're making America great again.

00:07:24.160 Greater than ever before.

00:07:25.420 Our country is greater than ever before.

00:07:27.380 The president obviously having a little fun there with NBC News, not answering the question the way they wanted to.

00:07:33.860 Smiling from ear to ear, knowing that that was going to trigger them.

00:07:38.280 Now back to the serious issues at hand.

00:07:40.640 One of the things the president talked about was getting rid of excess government waste, fraud, and abuse.

00:07:46.420 And one of the examples of that is what he's been talking about with the Federal Reserve building.

00:07:51.160 He is furious over the costs.

00:07:54.360 And then the cost overruns.

00:07:55.520 The president asked about it.

00:07:57.800 And this is what he said.

00:07:58.640 The American people are sick and tired of government abuse of your tax dollars.

00:08:04.860 There's been bipartisan suggestions that the criminal investigation to the current Fed chair, Jerome Powell, is payback, right?

00:08:10.720 For not lowering interest rates, but also for when he was in that sort of news conference with you with the hard hats.

00:08:16.080 And he was shaking his head and showing you the papers and disagreeing with you in public.

00:08:19.980 Is that why he's under criminal investigation?

00:08:21.840 He was very respectful to me.

00:08:23.000 He wasn't just he was explaining to me.

00:08:25.280 I'm asking him, why are you spending almost four billion dollars on a very small little complex of buildings?

00:08:33.300 It's the highest price per square foot.

00:08:35.480 He's renovating buildings for three to four billion dollars.

00:08:39.540 And, you know, this Fed chair that I have is I think is going to be great.

00:08:43.320 He might not have a home because this guy has spent so much money.

00:08:47.180 And I looked.

00:08:48.120 It's a see through.

00:08:48.920 There's nothing inside.

00:08:49.960 They haven't done.

00:08:51.040 They are spending money.

00:08:52.960 He's in charge of the project.

00:08:54.300 He's a this the Federal Reserve building I'm talking about.

00:08:57.240 It's a very small little.

00:08:59.140 It's actually a couple of little bit.

00:09:00.980 They're spending more money than any building ever built in history per square foot.

00:09:05.840 Some Republican senators say they're not going to approve him unless you drop that investigation.

00:09:09.780 A lot of people say a lot of things.

00:09:10.980 You don't think that's true?

00:09:12.220 You think is it worth it to drop the investigation to get your Fed chair through?

00:09:16.620 I think the investigation is the investigation is being handled by Pam and Janine and the people.

00:09:23.720 They'll make their own decision.

00:09:24.920 Yeah.

00:09:25.060 Now, the president was also asked one other fun question at the very end.

00:09:30.860 It's a little bit about his legacy, how he'll be remembered and what he's done so far.

00:09:35.860 And here's what the president had to say about all of that.

00:09:39.740 You think at one point people will talk about you when they talk about presidents like Washington and Lincoln?

00:09:45.340 Is that something you think is going to happen?

00:09:46.520 All I know is it's such an honor.

00:09:48.080 But all I know, I'm walking down and everyone's screaming goat, goat.

00:09:51.520 I said, what are they talking about?

00:09:53.120 I hope they're right.

00:09:53.900 Not for me, but for the country.

00:09:55.880 Because if I do a great job, that means the country is doing well.

00:10:00.360 That sums up President Donald Trump perfectly in his second term.

00:10:05.180 If I do a great job, that means the country is doing well.

00:10:10.900 And that's why there's so many Americans that are loving exactly what he's doing each and every day.
