00:00:02.660 Guaranteed human.
00:00:06.140 And we'll not allow ICE to arrest criminal aliens in New York City.
00:00:09.880 Your message to communist Zorhan Mandani.
00:00:12.500 Well, then we'll have to arrest him.
00:00:14.300 Look, we don't need a communist in this country,
00:00:16.740 but if we have one, I'm going to be watching over him very carefully on behalf of the nation.
00:00:20.680 You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
00:00:24.360 Good Thursday morning.
00:00:25.520 So nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update.
00:00:28.620 And here are the two big stories coming out of the White House that you need to know about.
00:00:33.900 First up, as you're listening right now,
00:00:36.820 it may have become a reality that the White House has got the passage of Trump's big, beautiful bill
00:00:42.600 out of the House after getting a massive victory in the Senate.
00:00:47.240 As I'm recording this at basically 1 a.m. right now,
00:00:50.980 the Speaker of the House is saying we're looking to get it done within hours.
00:00:55.420 We'll have the details on that for you as well.
00:00:58.620 Now, the president isn't done there when it comes to helping you, the American taxpayer.
00:01:04.460 We also now know that the president's saying it's time for the Fed chair,
00:01:08.040 Jerome Powell, to be gone, to resign.
00:01:11.140 And he's got two or three choices to replace the Fed chairman,
00:01:14.760 which could save Americans literally trillions of dollars in interest.
00:01:20.220 I'll give you those details in a moment.
00:01:22.380 It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now.
00:01:25.900 Story number one.
00:01:27.220 I just got off the phone moments ago with people on Capitol Hill who are telling me that by the time
00:01:32.380 you hear this, there's a very good chance that the big, beautiful bill will have already passed
00:01:37.900 the House of Representatives.
00:01:39.820 Now, I'm talking to you right now a little after midnight,
00:01:42.680 and what I am being told is that the Speaker says we're going to get it done,
00:01:47.080 and that means that President Donald Trump can do what he wanted to do, sign this by July 4th.
00:01:53.300 The White House saying they're closing in on the House passage of Trump's big, beautiful bill as well at this hour,
00:02:00.560 as I just spoke with someone within the White House staff that says we are very close to this becoming a reality.
00:02:07.520 The White House indicating that it is making major progress closing in on the president's top priority
00:02:14.880 and getting it, quote, to his desk by Independence Day.
00:02:20.000 We also know that Representative Ralph Norman, a Republican from South Carolina,
00:02:25.440 had suggested, quote, that the White House is making progress closing the deal on the Trump-backed bill,
00:02:31.240 saying, quote,
00:02:31.900 The White House enlightened many Republican holdouts on how its implementation of the big, beautiful bill
00:02:38.600 would accomplish what they want, but wouldn't give specifics moving forward
00:02:44.380 as they're trying to keep things quiet and not be fought within the media.
00:02:48.700 Meredith Lee Hill, a congressional reporter also with Politico,
00:02:52.640 is reporting the House Speaker Mike Johnson had stated that the House of Representatives
00:02:57.380 was going to get the bill there, quote, unquote, tonight,
00:03:00.560 adding that they were working on it and very, very positive about the progress that's being made.
00:03:07.880 Representative Andy Harris, a Republican from Maryland,
00:03:11.200 also indicated that it was, quote,
00:03:14.040 a possibility that the House would still vote today on the bill.
00:03:18.920 That, according to another congressional reporter for Punchbowl News.
00:03:23.140 So you put all of this together,
00:03:25.420 and what the reality now is is that Trump could be within hours.
00:03:30.560 of having his big, beautiful bill passed
00:03:33.100 after he successfully secured the Senate passage of the bill on Tuesday
00:03:37.540 after an all-night amendment voter-rama which lasted a record 27 hours,
00:03:43.900 something we covered on the show as well yesterday.
00:03:46.560 We know that the president was thrilled to secure the Senate passage of the bill
00:03:50.800 after that all-night amendment voter-rama,
00:03:53.200 and he was happy that Vice President J.D. Vance was able to cast that tie-breaking vote
00:03:59.280 in a victory for Trump that was, well, so close but also so sweet
00:04:05.260 and as good as it gets right now in Washington, D.C.
00:04:09.300 So here we are at after midnight,
00:04:12.720 and the reality is President Donald Trump is delivering on his biggest campaign promise to date.
00:04:20.040 We also know this,
00:04:22.360 that the president is also moving on to other major issues.
00:04:26.800 Now story number two.
00:04:28.220 Donald Trump is calling for the Fed chair, Powell, to quit, quote,
00:04:33.660 immediately.
00:04:34.980 Trump is ramping up the pressure on Powell,
00:04:37.720 urging lower interest rates against the Federal Reserve chair's continued opposition.
00:04:43.360 The president making it clear that it's time for him to, quote,
00:04:46.960 resign in a true social post on Wednesday in the late afternoon.
00:04:51.800 Trump said too late, should resign immediately.
00:04:55.080 He also linked to a Bloomberg story headline that says Fed chair should be investigated by Congress.
00:05:02.380 The FHSA head is now saying.
00:05:05.840 Powell was nominated by Trump to lead the Fed during the first administration.
00:05:10.600 Joe Biden, who succeeded Trump as president, nominated him for a second term.
00:05:14.720 His tenure as the Fed chair is set to end May of 2026.
00:05:21.020 And Trump is ramping up pressure saying,
00:05:23.660 I don't want to wait on Jerome Powell's tenure to end,
00:05:27.420 issuing a call for lower interest rates against the Federal Reserve chair
00:05:31.120 and continued opposition and calling out the failure of the Fed's monetary policy.
00:05:38.420 For instance, earlier this week,
00:05:41.040 Donald Trump posted this Jerome too late Powell and his entire board should be ashamed of themselves
00:05:48.000 for allowing this to happen in the United States of America.
00:05:51.340 They have one of the easiest yet most prestigious jobs in America and they've failed and they continue to do so.
00:05:59.000 Saying this, if they were doing their job properly,
00:06:02.100 our country would be saving trillions of dollars in interest costs.
00:06:06.360 The board just sits there and watches.
00:06:09.360 So they are equally to blame.
00:06:11.240 We should be paying 1% interest or better.
00:06:14.180 The Post preceded Trump signing a letter to Powell urging him to lower interest rates.
00:06:18.700 The White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt told reporters on Monday,
00:06:22.520 Powell has stated that the Fed's decision to hold off on dropping your interest rates
00:06:27.740 owes much to concern about the possible impacts of, quote,
00:06:32.020 tariffs on inflation.
00:06:33.900 That coming from CBS News.
00:06:36.360 Now, reports say he's waiting to see how the Trump tariff policy, quote,
00:06:39.980 plays out and what it ultimately does to the U.S. economy before making interest rate adjustments.
00:06:46.700 Powell has specifically said he wants to see longer term impacts, if any, on consumer pricing.
00:06:54.520 So I tell you that story to just make it very clear.
00:06:57.900 There could be some big changes coming very soon.
00:07:00.260 But it also tells you about the confidence that the president has that by the time many of you hear this,
00:07:06.360 he will already have the biggest tax cut that we've seen in our lifetime and turning it into a reality.
00:07:14.100 So what does that mean moving forward?
00:07:16.480 Well, it means we could see some pretty big changes here.
00:07:20.420 The president even moving forward to say there are, quote,
00:07:22.960 two or three choices to replace the Fed chairman and saying on Tuesday, yes, I'm ready to go.
00:07:29.700 When asked to board Air Force One whether he has a top choice to succeed Jerome Powell,
00:07:35.240 Trump said exactly this.
00:07:37.160 I have two or three top choices.
00:07:39.780 He declined to give any further information, yet again showing how much Donald Trump's ready to move on.
00:07:45.940 We also know that the Wall Street Journal reported last week that Trump is considering the former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh
00:07:53.280 and National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett as replacements.
00:07:59.100 Also, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is also being pitched as a potential candidate.
00:08:04.740 That, according to the Wall Street Journal, which also listed former World Bank president and Fed Governor Christopher Waller as potential nominees.
00:08:13.940 Now, according to the Wall Street Journal, Trump has toyed with the idea of selecting and announcing a replacement as early as September or October.
00:08:22.940 However, Bessent told Bloomberg TV on Monday that the Trump administration is considering using the next expected Federal Reserve Board of Governors vacancy in early 2026 to appoint a successor.
00:08:34.500 Now, since returning to the White House in January, Trump has criticized Powell as well as other Fed governors for declining not to lower interest rates,
00:08:44.560 which are currently in the 4.25 to 4.50 range.
00:08:49.000 Fed chairs have long seen as insulated from presidential dismissal for reasons other than malfeasance or misconduct.
00:08:57.640 But Trump has threatened to test the legal premise with frequent threats to fire Jerome Powell.
00:09:03.500 Now, a Supreme Court ruling in May, by the way, eased concerns that Trump could fire Powell, as the justice called the Fed, quote,
00:09:12.440 a uniquely structured quasi-private entity.
00:09:17.100 So that leaves us at this point, where the president's clearly saying he believes Jerome Powell and his board are the wrong people for the job,
00:09:25.280 and he wants to move as quickly as possible to move the country in the right direction.
00:09:30.520 He also has made it clear that lower interest rates save you countless dollars in interest,
00:09:37.100 something that's good, he believes, for the economy.
00:09:40.220 So, if you want to know what's happening right now at the White House, it's pretty clear.
00:09:45.720 The president's getting ready for a very big 4th of July celebration,
00:09:49.900 and it's one that is going to give you a huge advantage in your pocketbook.
00:09:55.340 And he's not done there.
00:09:57.300 He's also now looking to lower interest rates for you as well.
00:10:01.660 And that is exactly what the America First agenda that Donald Trump promised you looks like as we go into the 4th of July.
