00:00:20.880 Some Republicans and others are saying that Democrats turned kind of a blind eye,

00:00:25.780 that they knew what he was up to or what the allegations were. 0.76

00:00:27.900 That is absolutely positive.

00:00:29.480 And it's true that they may say that, but it is absolutely not true.

00:00:33.120 You had no idea.

00:00:33.900 None whatsoever. None whatsoever.

00:00:37.600 I had none whatsoever.

00:00:39.280 You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.

00:00:43.320 Good Tuesday morning.

00:00:44.500 It is nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update.

00:00:47.820 And breaking overnight, one of the biggest advocates for attacking Donald Trump

00:00:53.380 and impeaching him, Eric Swalwell, is out of Congress

00:00:56.740 after shocking misconduct accusations.

00:01:00.600 The fallout is just beginning.

00:01:02.680 So why did the Democrats turn on him so quickly?

00:01:06.480 We explain all of it to you.

00:01:08.580 It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now.

00:01:11.980 Story number one.

00:01:13.040 The question every American should be asking right now is,

00:01:16.980 what did the Democrats know?

00:01:18.760 When did they know it?

00:01:20.240 And for how long have they been covering up the abuse

00:01:23.320 at the hands of Congressman Eric Swalwell?

00:01:26.740 Now, multiple women, at least four, have now come forward accusing Swalwell of sexual misconduct,

00:01:33.220 including allegations of sexual assault, non-consensual contact, sending explicit messages and images,

00:01:41.520 and in the most serious case, an allegation of rape involving a former staffer.

00:01:47.700 One accusation involves an alleged encounter in 2024 that prosecutors are now reviewing.

00:01:55.440 Swalwell has denied the most serious allegations, calling them false as he's resigned from Congress,

00:02:02.500 but acknowledges mistakes and judgment as he described it and said his resignation was meant to avoid becoming a distraction.

00:02:12.640 Now, the other part of this story that's really important to understand is why all of this and the investigations are now becoming the center point of Eric Swalwell's demise.

00:02:22.660 this was done by design Democrats knew for quite some time about what was going on behind closed

00:02:29.880 doors with Eric Swalwell and they did everything they could to protect him and make sure that none

00:02:36.880 of what they're now reporting on saw the light of day the only thing that changed was Eric Swalwell

00:02:44.100 was going to ruin they believe their chances in the governor's mansion could cost them the

00:02:50.460 governor's mansion in california and that is why they decided to get rid of him now which brings us

00:02:58.900 to all of the known investigations this is what has been confirmed so far number one there was a

00:03:07.760 house ethics committee investigation investigating the alleged sexual misconduct including towards a

00:03:13.820 staff member that could have led to discipline or expulsion if he stayed in congress which is part

00:03:19.780 the reason why he decided to resign now to be clear the same democrats that are saying we gotta 0.64

00:03:26.080 kick him out were the same ones protecting him when apparently he was sleeping with a chinese

00:03:31.960 spy which brings us to number two the manhattan district attorney criminal probe that is now

00:03:40.720 investigating at least one allegation of sexual assault and it focuses on a reported 2024 incident

00:03:48.340 in new york city the question becomes obvious again what did the democrats know and when did

00:03:55.280 they know it number three an additional local prosecutor review in california yes liberal

00:04:02.600 california the la times has said that authorities there are reviewing whether criminal conduct

00:04:08.160 occurred in their jurisdiction we go back to the same question what did the democrats know

00:04:16.140 when do they know it and how long have they been covering it up and then there's the fourth

00:04:22.520 investigation that we know about it involves the department of homeland security looking into

00:04:28.040 claims involving a nanny allegedly working without proper authorization now at least three separate

00:04:35.240 investigative tracks are happening that would be congressional criminal and federal they're all

00:04:41.700 active at the same time now these aren't the only controversies that have erupted over the last week

00:04:48.360 there's now the new nanny controversy that is separate from the misconduct allegations it's

00:04:53.980 another controversy that has absolutely exploded because democrats are willing to destroy eric

00:04:59.820 swalwell to protect the governor's mansion in california from going to a republican they knew

00:05:05.380 about this for quite some time the allegations are this that he continued to employ her after

00:05:13.000 her visa status lapsed paying her improperly or even under the table and using campaign funds

00:05:21.700 to cover child care expenses for his own family now here are the key distinctions that you need

00:05:28.560 to understand all of these claims are under investigation they originated from a formal

00:05:34.620 complaint but that complaint was filed by a figure described in reporting as a conspiracy theorist

00:05:41.560 which raises credibility questions i wish i was joking i'm literally not but the democrats said

00:05:48.100 let's do it anyway federal agencies including dhs are reviewing the allegations but no findings of

00:05:55.800 wrongdoing have been announced yet but the damage had already been done and that was the whole plan

00:06:01.060 of the Democratic Party which brings us back to the big question I mentioned at the beginning

00:06:06.400 what do the Democrats know and when and that is where the facts matter the most what is confirmed

00:06:13.960 is this Democratic leaders quickly called for accountability only after they saw the poll

00:06:21.260 numbers showing that Eric Swalwell could be a spoiler it is absolutely wild how the Democratic

00:06:27.940 party literally covered up for eric swalwell for decades because it suited their political

00:06:34.420 purposes and this new wave of sexual assault accusations against swalwell only hit on friday

00:06:43.480 and the time since a number in the media and the political sphere have claimed that they knew all

00:06:50.480 long that the california congressman was at best a pest and at worst involved in behavior that might

00:06:56.740 be criminal but they never went public with that information for decades as they enabled him made

00:07:03.700 him bigger more powerful and even covered for him when it was exposed that he was sleeping with a

00:07:09.500 Chinese spy named Fang Fang local reporter for example Stephen Tavares author of the East Bay

00:07:17.780 Insider said that he had been covering Swalwell for more than a decade beginning when he was just

00:07:23.500 a member of the Dublin City Council and that he and others had been well aware of Squalwell's

00:07:29.660 well excitement that he liked in his life for years quote I've covered Eric Squalwell since

00:07:36.480 he was a member of the City Council shortly after being elected into Congress in 2013

00:07:40.980 his behavior towards women was known by all levels of our local government and the Alameda

00:07:49.060 County Democratic Party is what the reporter posted on X adding don't get it twisted nobody

00:07:56.320 has been more critical of Swalwell over the years I tried repeatedly to get those stories out I can't 1.00

00:08:02.520 force women to speak out and when they choose not to I didn't publish I also knew that Swalwell was

00:08:08.960 known for threatening litigation but as critics are pointing out and I'm one of them knowing

00:08:16.920 information like that and not reporting it could put young women on his staff and around him at

00:08:23.000 risk radio host dana lash summed it up this way saying quote and at no time did you think gee

00:08:31.880 maybe i should report about this she's absolutely right you're giving yourself a lot of undeserved

00:08:38.140 credit with the words covered when you knew this information for at least 13 years before swalwell

00:08:45.480 was in Congress and never reported it is what another conservative commentator said about the

00:08:51.200 local man that claimed I've been covering him for years and I wanted to report it but I just

00:08:56.800 couldn't and it wasn't just by the way local journalists who said they had known for a long

00:09:02.180 time that they had dirt on Swalwell. Swalwell's situation was shall we say quote widely rumored

00:09:08.920 and it's interesting that the gossip doesn't seem to have made its way all the way to the big shots

00:09:14.760 out west is what a bloomberg columnist wrote this morning progressive activists and commentators

00:09:21.760 also are among those claiming to have known years earlier that swalwell's behavior was problematic

00:09:28.300 one of them saying this okay just to show how insane this is i was aggressively hit on two

00:09:36.000 separate times by eric swalwell one after dnc meeting at the hotel in front of a ton of notable

00:09:42.860 folks and one in my dms i don't think he remembered me from the first time when he hit on me or hit me

00:09:50.600 up in dms is what the liberal influencer posted on saturday i showed disinterest and like many

00:09:58.280 others heard stories which makes me wonder why house leadership who most certainly knew

00:10:04.380 continued to protect a member without looking into it the liberal commentator continued and

00:10:12.200 how pathological of him to pressure and allegedly essay subordinates and think he was protected

00:10:20.220 question mark i hope the new york ag's office investigates thoroughly and it sends a message

00:10:25.780 to other people in power who sexually abuse and harass to stop and get out of politics

00:10:30.680 and for other survivors to know they have a voice and power now this goes back to the core question

00:10:38.000 How many years or even decades did Democrats know what he was doing and they did everything in their power to make it disappear?

00:10:49.860 That is the question that everyone needs to be asking right now.

00:10:54.740 Swalwell is done, but not because he did anything wrong, but because the Democratic Party was worried they could lose the governor's mansion in California.

00:11:06.940 That is the only reason why any of this is coming out right now.

00:11:12.820 And so if you think the Democrats are doing the right thing, you're wrong.

00:11:17.100 Thank goodness they've gotten rid of him, whether it was for the right or wrong reason.

00:11:21.780 At least now he's been exposed for exactly who he is.
