00:00:34.840 And in the last 48 hours, we have seen truly horrific demonstrations of anti-Semitism
00:00:40.920 on college campuses across the country.
00:00:43.620 This has been growing since October 7th.
00:00:45.720 We've seen it all over the country.
00:00:47.040 But the last 48 hours have been really uniquely stomach-turning.
00:00:52.700 We've seen it at Columbia.
00:00:53.820 We've seen it at Yale.
00:00:54.840 And it has reached a new level where we now have Jewish students and Jewish professors
00:01:01.100 actively fearing for their life.
00:01:03.320 We're going to do a deep dive into this and the sickness that has sadly taken over so many
00:01:08.820 of our universities that is threatening the next generation of Americans with a poison
00:01:15.080 from the left.
00:01:16.340 No doubt about it.

00:01:21.040 the people in Israel.

00:02:58.560 Senator, I want to talk about how this is almost an organized explosion of anti-Semitism on a
00:03:08.100 second level.
00:03:09.060 We saw this early on, right after the attack on Israel that was six months ago.
00:03:14.280 And we even saw some of the heads of universities come before Congress.
00:03:18.060 Some of them had to step down from their leadership roles, but didn't actually lose their jobs.
00:03:22.880 And they still get their major paydays.
00:03:24.560 And now we are seeing this second wave, which is even, I would argue, more grotesque than
00:03:29.560 what we saw at the beginning.
00:03:30.900 And it also seems to be somewhat orchestrated because it is growing, not getting weaker.
00:03:36.840 Well, that's exactly right.
00:03:38.860 And it seems clear that somebody is paying for this.
00:03:41.680 We don't know who, we don't know where the money is coming from, but it is organized,
00:03:45.680 it is persistent.
00:03:47.080 And to give you a sense of just how bad it has gotten, yesterday, the Orthodox rabbi at
00:03:53.900 Columbia Barnard sent a WhatsApp message to more than 290 Jewish students recommending
00:04:00.100 that they go home until it's safe for them to be on campus again.
00:04:04.740 And I want to read you this.
00:04:07.960 Dear Yavde, what we are witnessing in and around campus is terrible and tragic.
00:04:14.320 The events of the last few days, especially last night, have made it clear that Columbia
00:04:19.060 University's public safety and the NYPD cannot guarantee Jewish students' safety in the face
00:04:27.620 of extreme anti-Semitism and anarchy.
00:04:31.340 It deeply pains me to say that I would strongly recommend you return home as soon as possible
00:04:38.100 and remain home until the reality in and around campus has dramatically improved.
00:04:44.640 It is not our job as Jews to ensure our own safety on campus.
00:04:52.160 No one should have to endure this level of hatred, let alone at school.

00:05:15.600 We also witnessed video that went viral over the weekend of students that were actually
00:05:20.420 blocking Jewish students from entering a building on a college campus.
00:05:24.580 That was at Yale.
00:05:26.440 Yeah, that was at Yale.
00:05:27.460 And you witnessed this happening.
00:05:29.660 And my question is to the university, Senator, how are they not suspending students that are
00:05:34.540 involved in these actions?
00:05:36.280 So every administrator that is turning a blind eye, every administrator that is allowing this
00:05:41.360 to occur should resign in disgrace.
00:05:44.300 The university's basic job is to protect the safety of every student.
00:05:48.200 And these students are being threatened.
00:05:49.980 Look, that is an email from the rabbi at Columbia saying, if you're a Jewish student,
00:05:55.700 you are not safe on campus.
00:05:57.700 You are physically in danger because the school that you are paying hundreds of thousands of
00:06:02.920 dollars to go four years to is not willing to protect you because their ideology is so twisted
00:06:09.980 that they will allow people to threaten your lives.
00:06:13.820 That is truly twisted.
00:06:18.580 Look, and by the way, it's not just students.
00:06:22.920 It is also striking that a Columbia professor, Shai Dividai, sent out on Twitter, quote,
00:06:34.900 I just sent this message to the leadership at Columbia University.
00:06:37.900 I'm going to be on campus Monday morning, and I am requesting police escort, police escort
00:06:44.540 simply for going to my own place of work.
00:06:49.160 And here's the letter he sent.
00:06:51.160 He sent, dear President Shafik, who's the president of Columbia, Vice President Rosberg,
00:06:57.320 Chief Operating Officer Cass Holloway, General Counsel Rosen, Dean Maglaris.
00:07:02.980 Last I checked, I am still a professor at Columbia University.
00:07:06.980 Therefore, I plan to go tomorrow, Monday morning, and sit peacefully right in the center of the
00:07:15.760 illegal encampment that you have allowed the pro-Hamas mob to establish in the middle of campus.
00:07:23.360 I will be joined with several Jewish and Israeli students, faculty, and staff.
00:07:30.320 Since the events of last night have shown me that you have completely failed to protect the safety of your Jewish and Israeli students,
00:07:38.880 I am requesting approval to have a police escort of at least 10 cops with me.
00:07:44.280 I would ask for escort from the school's public safety, but they have proven themselves useless versus these mobs,
00:07:50.880 and I do not want to put their lives at risk.

00:08:11.160 Their own professors do not feel safe on campus because they've allowed hundreds of pro-Hamas protesters
00:08:19.200 to set up tents, to camp in the middle of campus, and to threaten the safety of Jewish students.
00:08:28.320 And let's talk about the makeup here, and this is where it goes back to the organization aspect of this.
00:08:33.640 Number one, yes, there are certainly in these groups of protesters students.
00:08:40.560 I think we need to make that very clear.
00:08:42.400 But there's also what you would refer to as outside agitators who are involved as well,
00:08:49.080 and this is well organized.
00:08:51.660 That is the part, and as you mentioned earlier, we don't know who's funding this yet.

00:08:57.400 Yeah, we've got to follow the money, but that goes back to my point.
00:09:01.360 If you're not a student center, and you're there as an agitator, and you're threatening the well-being of students,
00:09:09.760 doesn't that give the university even more grounds to be able to say,
00:09:13.260 you don't go to school here, you're out of here, like, arrest them, take them away?

00:09:20.040 And understand, what we're seeing here, this is not free speech.

00:09:28.480 Free speech doesn't give you the right to threaten violence, especially against other students.

00:09:38.540 If the Ku Klux Klan showed up on campus, burned a cross, and said,
00:09:42.760 we are going to beat up or kill African American students, they would naturally be arrested.

00:09:50.120 And it's important to understand, so you get in the sort of woke online world,
00:09:56.500 you get people saying, no, no, no, no, these are not pro-Hamas protesters.
00:10:00.460 These are just people who are standing with the innocent Palestinian people.

00:11:45.300 The opening line is Al-Qasam, you make us proud. Take another soldier out.
00:11:52.520 So it's calling on Hamas to murder Israeli soldiers. We say justice. You say how.
00:11:58.420 Burn Tel Aviv to the ground. Next line. Hamas, we love you.
00:12:06.080 We support your rockets to rockets that are aimed at civilians to murder civilians.
00:12:11.060 Red, black, green and white. We support Hamas's fight. It is right to rebel.
00:12:16.440 Al-Qasam, give them hell. It is right to rebel. Hamas, give them hell.
00:12:22.380 Free, free Palestine. These are open jihadists. They are cheering on Hamas murdering Jews.
00:12:32.160 This is not simply having a political discussion about the state of the Gaza Strip or the West Bank.
00:12:39.720 This is advocating in support of terrorists who are murdering civilians, and they are doing this on Columbia's campus and doing it directly to threaten Jewish students on campus.
00:12:52.740 So when you look at the universities now, I also think this brings up a bigger conversation.
00:12:58.400 And there was one of my friends that went to Columbia, for example, and said that they were never could have imagined that this would be their campus where they graduated from,
00:13:07.600 that they would be this ashamed of being an alumnus watching this take place on their on their college campuses.
00:13:14.980 We've seen a lot of others saying that. I think this is a moment of reckoning, and I mean it sincerely when I say this,
00:13:21.480 where parents have got to start looking at where they're sending their kids and what their kids are being indoctrinated with when they go to these schools.
00:13:29.740 It used to be simple. You go to the best school you could get into. That was the logic.
00:13:34.680 And then it was if you got into an Ivy League school, you should, you know, celebrate and run to that school.
00:13:40.060 What we're now witnessing in the indoctrination of anti-Semitism on these college campuses,
00:13:46.580 is this not a moment where people should really take a deep, hard look at, do you want to give your kids minds over to these people?
00:13:53.840 Look, sadly, it's something a lot of parents are considering.
00:13:57.740 A lot of parents are wondering, why exactly do I spend a half million dollars to send my children to an institution
00:14:04.460 to brainwash them to hate America and hate their mother and father?
00:14:08.940 Look, there was another image that was sent around, and this is again on Columbia,
00:14:14.880 where some Jewish students were holding Israeli and American flags.
00:14:21.820 And in front of them stood a young woman.
00:14:25.680 She is covering up her face in what looks like a Palestinian headscarf.
00:14:30.520 Although she's a blonde woman, by appearances, she certainly does not appear Palestinian.
00:14:34.800 And she appears like a blonde, young liberal.
00:14:38.540 And her sign is handwritten on cardboard, and it says,
00:14:45.320 Al-Qassam's next targets.
00:14:48.820 And it has an arrow pointing to the Jews behind her, waving Israeli flags and American flags.
00:14:54.500 Now, understand, she is deliberately threatening other students with murder, saying they should be murdered by terrorists.
00:15:05.640 And I'll tell you, I put out on Twitter yesterday, I said, if this is a student, she should be expelled.
00:15:13.920 If this is a Columbia professor, she should be fired.
00:15:18.000 No university should allow one member of the community to advocate the murder of other members of the community.
00:15:27.720 Now, understand, this is not free speech anymore.
00:15:31.380 Go back to the Klan example.
00:15:33.660 You would not allow a student to say,
00:15:37.220 the Klan should lynch these African-American students.
00:15:40.560 That would be grotesque.
00:15:41.740 And you would expel that student, because you don't get to threaten or harass or advocate the murder of your fellow students.

00:15:51.760 You can argue peacefully and civilly, but you do not get to threaten violence.
00:15:57.960 And when you are standing there saying, murder these students, that is exactly what you are doing.

00:17:08.720 They are so terrified of the politics of this that they're paralyzed, that they refuse to do anything about it.

00:17:20.460 He said, I just got this from a Columbia chat.
00:17:22.740 And this is someone who said, quote,
00:17:25.720 My husband just picked up our freshman daughter at school.
00:17:30.340 He double parked and barged through the gate to get her on college walk and escorted her out through a gauntlet of nasty protesters.
00:17:40.280 She tried to put up with being on campus, quote, staying strong and, quote, holding her ground.
00:17:47.380 But the noise and viciousness finally got to her, and she couldn't sleep or concentrate anymore.
00:17:56.660 My husband and daughter felt like refugees fleeing a war zone.
00:18:02.580 And to top it all off, at the 116th and Amsterdam gate, they yelled to my husband to, quote, go back to Poland.
00:18:12.600 And this is vicious, this is racist, this is nakedly anti-Semitic, and this is the poison being taught at our universities right now.
00:18:24.520 Yeah, it's World War II rhetoric if you want to get right down to it.
00:18:28.160 That is exactly right.
00:18:30.700 By the way, at Yale, they blocked Jewish students from going into campus, and one Yale student, a girl, was stabbed in the eye with a Palestinian flag and was hospitalized for it.
00:18:44.940 So this was not just threats of violence.
00:18:47.560 It was actual violence that is unfolding.
00:18:50.980 And you have to ask, all right, what is Columbia doing?
00:18:54.380 What is Yale doing to ensure that students are safe?
00:19:01.560 Yeah, and the question is, what are they going to do when it comes to the next round of students that are going to come through?
00:19:07.100 Is it basically, hey, if you're Jewish, you can come here, but we're not going to keep you safe?
00:19:11.140 We're not going to protect you?
00:19:12.080 Because that looks to seem like that is the policies of these universities so far.
00:19:16.660 The same universities that demand tolerance and safe spaces.
00:19:20.620 I remember just back a few years ago, Senator, when everybody was obsessed with having, quote, safe spaces.

00:19:27.260 Well, it is safe spaces only for leftists.
00:19:31.220 And look, we've talked about this a lot because, listen, there are a lot of people who are politically left of center who are looking at what's happening at campuses, and they're horrified.
00:19:41.900 They're just saying, I don't understand.
00:19:43.380 I don't understand where this anti-Semitism is coming from, and we've talked a lot on this podcast about it.
00:19:50.240 The origins is cultural Marxism, and cultural Marxism has taken over our college campuses.
00:19:56.300 It has become the dominant ideology.
00:19:58.400 And the Marxist worldview divides the world into victims and oppressors, and they have defined Jews.
00:20:08.460 And let's be clear, I'm not saying Israelis.
00:20:10.900 I am saying Jews.
00:20:12.440 If you're an American Jew, they have defined you as an oppressor, and they have defined Palestinians as victims.
00:20:20.460 Let's be clear, the people chanting anti-Semitic chants are not limiting it to people who live in Israel.
00:20:27.280 They are directing it at American Jews, and it is the poison that is being taught to our students, that is being echoed by professors, that is being echoed by administrators.
00:20:39.540 And it's why administrators are paralyzed to do anything about it, because they see the pro-Hamas protesters, and in their hierarchy of values, because they are protesting for Palestinians, they are more right, they are more just than the Jews who are coded as oppressors.
00:21:00.400 And it is wrong, it is a lie, it is vicious, it is racist, and it is the ideology that we have allowed to take over our campuses.
00:21:10.220 And as far as I'm concerned, any college president, we've seen the president of Penn and the president of Harvard resign, but any college president who does not act to protect students, who does not stand up and say, every student on my campus shall be safe.
00:21:23.900 And by the way, if you had a bunch of Jewish students threatening violence against Palestinian students, I'd say the same thing, but let's be clear, that's not happening.
00:21:33.360 This is not, you know, I will say online that there is a sort of whataboutism, there is a sort of both-sidesism, well, you know, both sides are doing this.
00:21:44.280 No, that's not right.
00:21:45.160 There are no pro-Israel protesters on college campuses who are threatening Palestinians.
00:21:53.760 It is one-sided only.
00:21:56.860 And so, for example, you know, I spent much of Sunday afternoon tweeting and pushing out these videos because you really need to see them.
00:22:04.760 And one kind of very outspoken person on the left came back and said, well, this is the problem with people like Cruz, the issue is framed, but it's not, it is not just the left.
00:22:20.280 Because what I tweeted was, wow, truly stunning.
00:22:24.900 Read what the Orthodox rabbi at Columbia Barnard wrote to Jewish students, return home as soon as possible.
00:22:31.220 Columbia, New York City cannot, will not protect your safety.
00:22:35.200 Radical leftist anti-Semitism is a sickness that is destroying our universities.
00:22:40.720 And this person pushed back and said, no, no, no, it's not leftist.
00:22:44.260 And my response was to say, it is not honest to both sides this.
00:22:52.060 All of the students attacking Jews right now on college campuses are leftists.
00:22:58.260 So are all of the professors.
00:23:01.620 This is the poison fruit of Marxist ideology.
00:23:04.760 Where universities teach that Jews are oppressors and Palestinians are victims.
00:23:11.020 And it is, it is direct, it is ideological.
00:23:15.440 And that is the poison that now has become commonplaces at universities.

00:25:28.520 We see the President come out and he has no problem jumping in if it's on something like Black Lives Matter.
00:25:33.560 But what we're not seeing is the White House condemn these actions in a real way.
00:25:39.200 White House press secretary was asked about some protesters this week chanting, long live Hamas.

00:25:48.120 And just to follow up on the protests, I get you don't want to go into specifics, but what does the President think about young people in America saying things like, we are all Hamas and long live Hamas?
00:26:01.020 I will say, look, this is a President that has been, since he's been in office, and the reason why he ran has been very clear about what he witnessed in Charlottesville.

00:33:56.380 a 100-year-old nonprofit group that operates Jewish community centers on campuses around the world, including Northwestern.

00:34:08.080 which seeks to introduce incoming students to campus life.
00:34:11.320 So imagine you're a Jewish student coming, going, oh, great, this is a welcoming place for me.
