00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.680 Guaranteed human.
00:00:04.520 Welcome. It is Verdict with Senator Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with you.
00:00:08.620 And we got a country to save.
00:00:10.540 I am under the weather, so if I sound a little bit lower key, I want you to know why.
00:00:15.760 Senator, you're beating me today.
00:00:16.820 You're somewhat under the weather, but I think you've got more energy than I do.
00:00:21.020 Well, I think that's probably right, but hopefully neither of us cough up a lung
00:00:24.960 and we can talk about the great things that are happening in this country
00:00:30.660 that are really threatening our nation,
00:00:33.140 and that gives you reason to fight even when you may not feel great.
00:00:37.560 Amen to that.
00:00:38.480 We've got a very interesting subject that has popped up, and that deals with Kamala Harris.
00:00:43.660 Well, that's right. Kamala's radical past keeps coming back to haunt her.
00:00:47.420 She's trying to run a presidential campaign pretending not to be a radical leftist,
00:00:52.220 and the problem is truth keeps getting in the way.
00:00:55.780 We now have video and audio of her at a rally chanting,
00:01:02.180 down with deportation, and amazingly doing it right next to discredited hustler Jussie Smollett,
00:01:11.420 and they're chanting with the whole mob, up with education, down with deportation.
00:01:15.640 It's really quite remarkable. We're going to talk about that.
00:01:17.620 We're also going to talk about a story unlike any I've ever seen before,
00:01:22.780 which is Ukraine's President Zelensky came to Pennsylvania
00:01:26.060 and is essentially campaigning for Kamala Harris,
00:01:29.160 and he's attacking Donald Trump and J.D. Vance.
00:01:31.660 It is shocking. I do not recall ever seeing a foreign leader do this.
00:01:35.860 It's infuriating. We're going to talk about that, too.
00:01:38.540 And finally, we're going to talk about a hearing yesterday in the Senate Judiciary Committee
00:01:41.940 where the Senate Democrats once again are attacking the U.S. Supreme Court.
00:01:45.720 And this hearing was all about the Supreme Court's decision on presidential immunity,
00:01:49.600 and they're trying to wrongly convince the voters that it's some sort of outrageous decision
00:01:54.740 that allows Trump to do whatever he wants.
00:01:58.420 That is a lie.
00:01:59.600 We're going to talk about that hearing and what the actual truth is.
00:02:02.780 Yeah, it's very interesting to see that take place there,
00:02:06.060 and we'll chat about that in a moment.
00:02:07.460 I want to tell you real quick about Ammo Squared.
00:02:10.240 Ammo Squared is amazing.
00:02:11.560 If you love to shoot, you're going to love what I'm about to tell you about Ammo Squared
00:02:15.900 because it is the easiest way to stock up on ammunition at a great price
00:02:20.880 and never have to worry about not being able to find ammo ever again.
00:02:24.520 There were a lot of people during COVID where you couldn't find ammo,
00:02:27.140 and the price of ammo went through the roof.
00:02:30.120 Ammo Squared helps ensure that you have ammo when you need it,
00:02:33.060 and it's an automatic approach to purchasing ammo on any budget.
00:02:37.140 It's simple.
00:02:37.820 You pick your calibers, you set your budget,
00:02:39.600 you select a shipping trigger, and that's it.
00:02:42.640 Your ammo grows slowly over time, and here's the other big perk for me.
00:02:46.520 It's stored for free as it builds up,
00:02:48.980 and then it's shipped with a click of a button
00:02:51.040 or automatically on your schedule, whatever you want to do.
00:02:54.120 Now, unlike a traditional subscription service,
00:02:57.160 you aren't forced into a set budget or a monthly shipment.
00:03:01.000 You decide your budget and change any time you want to,
00:03:03.620 and you schedule when you want your ammo to arrive.
00:03:06.340 Ammo Squared also offers nearly 70 different caliber options,
00:03:10.400 so maybe you have a hard time finding unique calibers for your collection.
00:03:14.860 Not anymore with Ammo Squared.
00:03:16.500 And each shipment contains a carefully curated mix of factory new ammunition
00:03:19.980 from brands that you know and love.
00:03:21.800 It's budget-friendly, customizable,
00:03:23.700 buy as little as a few dollars a month,
00:03:25.660 and use cost-dollar averaging to your advantage.
00:03:28.880 Now, if you ever want to trade out a caliber,
00:03:31.580 maybe you switch firearms, not a problem.
00:03:33.340 You can trade it back in for another caliber.
00:03:35.480 And if prices go through the roof and you ever want to sell your ammo back,
00:03:38.360 you can do it for big profits.
00:03:39.960 There's no minimum to buy, no memberships needed, and no extra fees.
00:03:44.240 Customers can buy ammo on a small budget and watch it grow.
00:03:47.180 Sign up today, and I'm going to give you free ammo in your account.
00:03:51.260 AmmoSquared.com slash Ben.
00:03:55.300 AmmoSquared.com slash Ben today,
00:03:57.460 and you're going to get free ammo in your account.
00:04:00.400 So, Senator, if you go back,
00:04:02.360 and it's amazing how many of these videos start to surface here,
00:04:06.780 and the media clearly isn't doing their job,
00:04:09.980 you've got this video, and it's Kamala Harris.
00:04:13.160 She's straight up out there.
00:04:14.780 She's very proud of it.
00:04:16.440 Shouting she's down.
00:04:18.720 She's not down with deportations at this rally.
00:04:22.700 And when you see this resurfaced video of her
00:04:25.300 protesting against deporting migrants
00:04:27.740 with a disgraced celebrity,
00:04:29.920 you go, man, I wonder how long the media had this
00:04:32.520 and they decided to sit on it.
00:04:34.660 Well, clearly they don't want people to see it.
00:04:37.380 And give a listen.
00:04:38.660 You need to listen to what Kamala Harris,
00:04:41.400 the sitting vice president
00:04:42.540 and someone who wants to be president of the United States,
00:04:45.520 what she was happily chanting with the mob on the street.
00:04:48.840 I mean, there it is.
00:05:12.720 Up, up with education.
00:05:15.000 Down, down with deportation.
00:05:16.960 Saying, we're not deporting anybody.
00:05:18.620 This is what she believes. Believe her when she says it.
00:05:21.700 Yeah. And when you watch the video, they're all dancing joyously.
00:05:26.540 I mean, it is. These are a bunch of radicals. They support open borders.
00:05:31.740 Kamala Harris is a radical. She supports open borders. She always has.
00:05:35.500 She's always voted for open borders. She's always advocated for open borders.
00:05:39.780 And right now, her strategy is to try to lie to the American people.
00:05:44.060 She is literally right now spending millions of dollars running ads, TV ads, with video of Trump's border wall,
00:05:52.340 something she's opposed from day one.
00:05:54.960 But for the next six weeks on the campaign trail, she's going to pretend that she's all for securing the border
00:06:02.180 and all for deportation unless, God forbid, she wins.
00:06:06.300 And then you're going to discover the open borders we've had in the last four years.
00:06:09.820 They're just getting started and they're only getting worse.
00:06:12.400 Well, and you talk about that just a straight up lying.
00:06:15.780 You know, her new ad shows Trump's wall, which she said was inhumane and that she would tear down and never allow
00:06:22.160 and it should never be allowed to be built.
00:06:24.200 Now, apparently she's in favor of it, but she's obviously not.
00:06:27.500 She's just trying to buy votes because she understands it's a liability what's going on at the southern border right now
00:06:33.300 and how every city in America has become a border city and every liberal city that was a sanctuary city
00:06:38.740 has now turned into a total disaster.
00:06:40.440 And then you see this video come back out or this video come back up that they were, I guess, trying to hide
00:06:46.220 because it's not popular right now.
00:06:48.480 And you know what she believes, Senator?
00:06:50.460 Like, it's very clear.
00:06:52.100 She wants to flood the border with illegal immigrants if she is elected president.
00:06:57.920 And this also comes as a new report has come out talking about how Mexico has launched a massive operation
00:07:06.220 through which migrants are intercepted and apprehended in northern states,
00:07:10.660 brought to the corner of the country furthest from the U.S. border,
00:07:15.020 then processed and released.
00:07:16.720 As the Washington Post summarized it, quote,
00:07:19.500 aided by the military, agents added checkpoints on the highways
00:07:23.560 and ramped up searches of trains and buses in the first half of 2024.
00:07:29.140 Mexico logged 712,000 apprehensions, nearly triple the number in the same period last year.
00:07:34.900 And what we're being told now is this all came out of the deal with Biden and Harris
00:07:39.060 when they had that meeting with the leadership in Mexico.
00:07:41.480 Like, hey, right before Election Day, we need the number of border crossings to drop.
00:07:45.240 Can you guys help us out?
00:07:46.600 And now we know the plan is actually working very well in Mexico.
00:07:50.900 Well, and listen, there is a reason that the left is not upset with Kamala
00:07:57.040 because they know this is who she is.
00:07:59.860 They know this is what she believes.
00:08:02.440 She's been the border czar for four years.
00:08:04.540 If she's president, the open borders get worse.
00:08:07.740 The 11 and a half million illegal aliens becomes 20 million, becomes 30 million.
00:08:12.100 That is their plan to fundamentally change the American electorate.
00:08:15.920 They view all of them as future Democrat voters, some voting illegally immediately
00:08:21.120 and some voting when Democrats seize control and give them amnesty.
00:08:26.220 That is their plan.
00:08:27.880 And nobody, you know, the radicals who were dancing in the street with Kamala
00:08:32.480 chanting down with deportation, they're not upset with Kamala's ads with the border wall.
00:08:38.520 Why is that?
00:08:39.460 Because they know she's lying.
00:08:40.980 They're perfectly happy for her to lie to the voters
00:08:43.480 and they think the voters are gullible enough that they'll be like,
00:08:46.180 oh, oh, she agrees with me on border security.
00:08:49.340 I got to say, I don't think the American people are nearly as gullible as Democrats think they are.
00:08:54.200 You look at the headline and it says,
00:08:56.720 Mexico goes into overdrive to help Biden-Harris administration
00:09:00.480 slow illegal immigration before election day.
00:09:05.300 So it's all a ploy.
00:09:07.260 This is all being done clearly on purpose.
00:09:09.420 They're saying today the illegal border crossings are now over 3,500 for the day.
00:09:15.360 That's down and they're going to campaign on this.
00:09:18.560 Do you really believe that this is going to work with the American people?
00:09:22.760 I don't.
00:09:23.720 But I got to say the president of Mexico is not the only foreign leader
00:09:27.560 who is trying to influence this election and wants Kamala Harris elected president.
00:09:32.520 President Zelensky is in the United States and he's effectively campaigning for Kamala.
00:09:39.800 This is a story, as I said at the outset, that just shocks me.
00:09:44.440 I've never seen this happen where a foreign leader comes.
00:09:49.020 He went to Pennsylvania, the biggest swing state in the country.
00:09:53.080 He went to an ammunition factory.
00:09:54.720 He arrived on an Air Force jet, presumably paid for by the taxpayers.
00:10:01.440 And he does this whole interview in The New Yorker where he slams Donald Trump
00:10:07.500 and he slams J.D. Vance.
00:10:09.920 Zelensky says in the interview that Trump, quote,
00:10:13.080 doesn't really know how to stop the war, even if he might think he knows how.
00:10:16.960 And and and then on Vance, he attacks Vance directly and says Vance is, quote, too radical.
00:10:26.840 Now, I got to say, who the hell is Zelensky to be trying to interfere in our election?
00:10:34.760 The arrogance of this guy.
00:10:36.400 And you know what?
00:10:37.600 In the Congress, this guy has gotten Republican support for military aid.
00:10:43.140 You want to find a way for that to disappear?
00:10:45.920 Here, this is an awfully good way to do it.
00:10:48.640 And the guy, I've got to say, is an absolute moron for coming to the U.S.
00:10:54.800 six weeks before the election and attacking Trump and Vance.
00:10:59.080 I don't care if Zelensky likes or dislikes what they have to say.
00:11:04.620 He is if he had the sense God gave a cricket.
00:11:14.800 He would have said on that question, you know what?
00:11:17.340 I'm not going to comment about U.S. elections.
00:11:19.520 That's for the people of America to decide.
00:11:21.820 That would have been smart.
00:11:23.400 But you know what?
00:11:25.260 Kamala Harris is perfectly happy to use this guy as essentially a campaign prop.
00:11:31.280 And as I said, it is absolutely infuriating.
00:11:34.900 Yeah, you look at what he was here for, and it was to get a check.
00:11:38.120 And that's the part I think people need to understand.
00:11:40.420 And it wasn't just to get a check.
00:11:42.540 It was also to, they described it as a victory plan, quote unquote, that he was going to lay out to President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
00:11:52.200 They also said he was going to show it to Trump, which made me laugh.
00:11:55.500 This is a two and a half years of war with Russia, and now they've come up with a victory plan.
00:12:01.660 Look, he knows if he wants unlimited cash, then Biden and Harris are the team.
00:12:07.900 And that means Harris now is the team because they will write him a check whenever he needs it.
00:12:12.680 And they will continue this for apparently another two and a half years or another five years, whatever it is.
00:12:18.680 But when he comes here on our dollar, how is this not an in-kind donation?
00:12:23.560 I mean, it used to be that when I was on campaigns, they would spend hours with us, Senator, going over campaign finance rules and laws so that none of us ever made a mistake.
00:12:34.840 And it was not a joke.
00:12:36.220 Like, they took real time of, like, the do's and don'ts and certain things that you can and cannot do.
00:12:41.980 This dude's flying over here.
00:12:44.020 Taxpayers are paying for it.
00:12:45.360 He's on a big, I mean, a big jet.
00:12:48.700 He lands in a swing state.
00:12:50.600 He gets off the plane.
00:12:51.820 He does the interview.
00:12:52.820 This is obviously a campaign contribution to the Harris campaign.
00:12:59.700 And no one bats an eye that the taxpayers are paying for this propaganda?
00:13:04.080 So, Ben, you're saying they didn't pick Pennsylvania at random?
00:13:07.120 It wasn't just, oh, let's throw a dart at the map and see where it hits?
00:13:11.540 It's the fact that it's the most critical swing state in the entire country was a factor in why Kamala Harris wanted him in Pennsylvania?
00:13:20.180 Yeah, for sure.
00:13:22.200 I mean, it's pretty obvious.
00:13:24.560 And listen, to combine that, ostensibly, what he said he was there is he was thanking the ammunition plant because they were making the ammunition that's being sent to Ukraine.
00:13:37.140 Doing that, I think, is unacceptable.
00:13:42.760 But combining it with explicitly attacking both Donald Trump and J.D. Vance is incredibly foolish.
00:13:50.320 And let's be clear, look, look, if you look at the polling, I don't know what the odds are that Trump wins.
00:13:58.960 I certainly hope and pray he wins.
00:14:00.840 But the odds are significant, whatever they are.
00:14:04.000 Neither of us know what the odds are sitting here today.
00:14:07.380 Zelensky, this is just dumb on his part.
00:14:10.860 Because if Trump wins, he's got a huge problem that just got bigger.
00:14:18.420 And if Trump loses, you know, good luck trying to get Republicans to listen to what he has to say if he just behaves like a Democrat campaign activist.
00:14:30.200 I want to tell you real quick about our friends over at IFCJ, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, with the rise in anti-Semitism and continued attacks on Israel, it is more important than ever to stand with Israel and the Jewish people.
00:14:44.560 And as we approach the one year anniversary, the one year mark of October the 7th, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is partnering with over 230 churches and other organizations across America in flags of fellowship.
00:15:00.200 By planting Israeli flags to remember the over 1,200 victims.
00:15:05.800 Now you can be a part of flags of fellowship as well.
00:15:08.580 There is tremendous need for food and basic supplies for evacuated families trying to survive in communities that are impacted by the ongoing war.
00:15:18.360 And that's why I'm asking 1,200 of you today to make a gift of $100 to help provide emergency food boxes for displaced families in Israel.
00:15:29.800 Israel needs our support now more than ever.
00:15:33.980 So join me and let the world know that you stand with Israel.
00:15:38.340 You can make your gift right now by calling 888-488-IFCJ.
00:15:45.400 That's 888-488-4325.
00:15:51.360 Or you can go online and securely give there at supportifcj.org.
00:15:56.760 That's one word, supportifcj.org or 888-488-IFCJ.
00:16:06.600 One other question I want to ask you is about Zelensky real quick was going to this, you know, ammo plant that they went to.
00:16:17.620 It made me laugh that he's like acting like, you know, there's some do-gooders that are giving him this ammo.
00:16:23.100 To be clear, the American tax dollars are paying for the ammo.
00:16:27.060 He would never need to go there if this wasn't for a political stunt because they're going to cash the check.
00:16:32.240 And that's how they've set this up where, hey, they make the ammo.
00:16:35.520 America pays for that ammo.
00:16:37.320 The ammo then goes to Ukraine.
00:16:38.700 And it just was such a made-for-TV propaganda moment.
00:16:44.480 And I want people to understand that that's what this was, to support and advocate for the campaign.
00:16:50.320 Yeah, no, that's exactly right.
00:16:52.120 And I'll tell you, an additional point that was made by Donald Trump Jr. on Twitter I think is really quite significant.
00:16:58.200 So Trump Jr. tweeted, so a foreign leader who has received billions of dollars in funding from American taxpayers comes to our country and has the nerve to attack the GOP ticket for president.
00:17:11.500 And he does this right after a pro-Ukraine zealot tried to assassinate my father.
00:17:20.600 Disgraceful.
00:17:21.160 And that's a point.
00:17:23.240 Look, this lunatic who camped out on the golf course and was there to assassinate President Trump, the facts that have come out on him is he was truly a pro-Ukraine zealot,
00:17:35.340 so much so that he flew over there and was trying to enlist to fight with the Ukrainians.
00:17:40.360 And he was such a kook, the Ukrainians said, we don't want you.
00:17:44.240 But that really does add insult to injury.
00:17:49.000 It does.
00:17:49.920 And it also, I think, tells you just how tone-deaf they are, or maybe they just don't care at all.
00:17:54.900 I'm not sure that they care at all.
00:17:58.480 Look, I think, I don't know, but I think it was remarkably foolish.
00:18:03.540 And, you know, look, I normally try to give some grace and leniency to a leader in wartime.
00:18:11.880 I mean, he's fighting for his country.
00:18:13.220 I understand what he's doing.
00:18:14.760 This was foolish.
00:18:16.220 I still want Russia to lose.
00:18:17.680 But I think what Zelensky did today was one of the greatest unforced errors I've seen a foreign leader do.
00:18:27.940 I've never seen this happen in my entire life.
00:18:31.740 And I think it really was a bad, bad mistake by Zelensky.
00:18:36.380 Yeah, I agree.
00:18:38.280 And again, if you're going all in because, you know, you get unlimited funds and you came over here for a check and every time you show up, America writes you that check.
00:18:46.720 He's probably just looking at the politics going, hey, this is my meal ticket.
00:18:51.040 Harris is the meal ticket.
00:18:52.440 Let's go help her win reelection or get elected, I should say.
00:18:55.620 And then I get the funds flowing for another four years.
00:18:59.980 And they obviously made that calculated decision.
00:19:02.480 I agree with you.
00:19:03.360 I think it was really, really foolish.
00:19:05.380 Canadian women are looking for more.
00:19:07.580 More to themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world around them.
00:19:11.700 And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the Honest Talk podcast.
00:19:15.440 I'm Jennifer Stewart.
00:19:16.620 And I'm Catherine Clark.
00:19:17.580 And in this podcast, we interview Canada's most inspiring women, entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, politicians, and newsmakers, all at different stages of their journey.
00:19:27.360 So if you're looking to connect, then we hope you'll join us.
00:19:30.600 Listen to the Honest Talk podcast on iHeartRadio or wherever you listen to your podcasts.
00:19:36.180 I want to move on also to something else that you mentioned earlier.
00:19:39.780 And it's happened today, set the stage for everybody in Congress, and explain exactly what was going on.
00:19:48.160 And it dealt with presidential immunity.
00:19:51.300 Well, Senate Democrats for two years have been engaged in a relentless assault on the Supreme Court and trying to undermine the Supreme Court.
00:20:00.400 And so today, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the Supreme Court's decision on presidential immunity.
00:20:06.240 And the whole purpose of the hearing was to say that the Supreme Court's decision is ridiculous, that it's out of bounds, that it basically said Trump is a king, that he's unaccountable, that it's some bizarre decision.
00:20:19.800 And they're trying both to attack Trump and to delegitimize the Supreme Court.
00:20:26.720 And so among the witnesses testifying was Michael Mukasey, who was the former attorney general of the United States under George W. Bush.
00:20:35.780 And he was a federal judge for nearly 20 years before that.
00:20:39.180 And he was one of the witnesses.
00:20:41.000 And so I took the opportunity to actually question the former attorney general and to lay out the utterly false narrative the Democrats were putting forward.
00:20:52.980 Give a listen to my questioning of Attorney General Mukasey.
00:20:56.140 Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
00:20:57.860 The nub of the Democrats' argument today is that the concept of presidential immunity is somehow unprecedented, is somehow remarkable.
00:21:07.540 That claim is utterly ahistorical and disconnected from the entire constitutional history of the republic.
00:21:14.500 General Mukasey, before 2023, how many times has a president of the United States been indicted?
00:21:21.380 No.
00:21:21.580 None.
00:21:22.460 Before 2023, how many times has a former president of the United States been indicted?
00:21:26.440 None.
00:21:27.420 In the last two years, how many times has President Donald J. Trump been indicted?
00:21:32.780 Four times, I believe.
00:21:33.900 Now, many presidents of both parties have engaged in controversial actions, and yet none of them have been indicted.
00:21:43.480 Let me ask you, General Mukasey.
00:21:45.220 If a private citizen were to erect an internment camp and to forcibly kidnap American citizens, to single them out because of race, and to imprison them based on their race, would that private citizen be subject to criminal prosecution?
00:22:02.580 Would.
00:22:02.860 When President Franklin Delano Roosevelt did the exact same thing and erected Japanese internment camps, was FDR prosecuted?
00:22:11.260 It was not.
00:22:11.960 Let me ask you, similarly, if a private citizen were, say, to detonate a nuclear weapon over a city and kill over 140,000 people, and then if that private citizen, a few days later, detonated another nuclear bomb over another city and killed 75,000 people, could that private citizen be criminally prosecuted?
00:22:35.060 He would.
00:22:35.500 Was President Harry Truman prosecuted for detonating nuclear weapons over Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
00:22:43.540 He was not.
00:22:44.860 All right, how about this?
00:22:45.680 If a private citizen launched a weaponized drone and killed a United States citizen, could that private citizen be criminally prosecuted?
00:22:56.280 He would.
00:22:56.760 Was President Barack Obama criminally prosecuted when he killed United States citizens using drones without notice and without due process?
00:23:07.620 He was not.
00:23:09.060 Although, as far as due process is concerned, I believe the comment of my successor to that question was that Anwar al-Awlaki got, quote, all the process that was necessary.
00:23:20.600 Well, although I suspect he might disagree with that assessment, were he able to present his case?
00:23:25.800 Right.
00:23:26.760 Um, all right, let's contrast that with the rules that govern other federal officials.
00:23:36.440 You were a judge for 19 years.
00:23:38.520 As a federal judge, did you have immunity from your official acts?
00:23:44.420 My official act?
00:23:45.520 Yes.
00:23:46.620 Do federal prosecutors have immunity from their official acts?
00:23:50.400 They do.
00:23:50.740 Now, the distinction between official acts and personal acts is not a terribly shocking distinction.
00:23:58.180 Under the decision of Trump versus United States, if any president walks onto the sidewalk and just shoots a citizen, is that president liable to be prosecuted?
00:24:09.340 He is.
00:24:10.540 How about this?
00:24:12.560 If a president steals funds from his campaign, does that president face criminal liability?
00:24:18.680 He does.
00:24:19.440 How about this?
00:24:21.100 If a president sexually assaults, let's say, an intern in the Oval Office, is the president subject to criminal prosecution for that?
00:24:31.240 He could be.
00:24:32.240 He could be.
00:24:33.300 So that distinction, again, is not a shocking distinction.
00:24:38.300 The founding fathers vested the executive power in a single president of the United States.
00:24:47.040 What we have seen in the last two years is we have seen Democrats deliberately weaponizing the Department of Justice and our legal system to target their political opposition.
00:25:00.880 It is not an accident that every indictment against President Trump was brought by a Democrat and was brought after he announced his campaign for president of the United States.
00:25:14.040 Understand, the target of those indictments was not ultimately President Trump.
00:25:19.660 It was the voters.
00:25:21.040 It was prosecutors who were terrified that the voters would choose to reelect President Trump.
00:25:26.940 One of the great things about the United States is we're not a banana republic.
00:25:30.880 Since 2000, the nation of Pakistan has had six former prime ministers prosecuted and convicted.
00:25:38.040 Brazil has had three former presidents arrested and imprisoned.
00:25:41.620 Last year, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega arrested, charged, and imprisoned 40 political opponents.
00:25:49.180 General Mukasey, you were Attorney General of the United States.
00:25:51.500 Is it the proper role of the Department of Justice to prosecute and target the political opponents of whoever happens to be president of the United States?
00:26:00.220 It is most assuredly not.
00:26:02.460 Thank you.
00:26:03.420 He says it most certainly is not.
00:26:06.960 But the reality is Donald Trump keeps getting attacked by the left and they keep trying to lock up their political opponent.
00:26:14.980 Yeah, no, that's exactly what they're doing.
00:26:16.680 And their claim that the ruling that a president can't be criminally prosecuted for his official acts is contrary to the law.
00:26:25.480 It's why I use the examples I used.
00:26:28.280 It's why I use, look, the Japanese internment camps.
00:26:30.840 Presidents can do a lot of things in exercising their official power that ordinary citizens cannot.
00:26:36.960 And we would want our commander-in-chief.
00:26:40.240 Our commander-in-chief can send our troops into combat, can use lethal force, and they do regularly.
00:26:47.940 And so the Supreme Court naturally said, well, we don't want a situation where each new president who comes in,
00:26:54.940 the first order of business is let's criminally prosecute the last guy for the things he did as president that I disagreed with.
00:27:02.360 And so, you know, the hearing was really a dog-and-pony show by the Democrats to mischaracterize the Supreme Court decision.
00:27:12.100 So I thought it was important to explain the actual law in the real context.
00:27:16.620 Let me ask you another question about this.
00:27:21.020 Will there be a correction?
00:27:22.720 I mean, if Donald Trump is the president next time, will there be a correction?
00:27:27.920 Or once the cat's out of the bag, is there any way of getting it back to where we were before, as you described it, 2023?
00:27:36.440 I don't know.
00:27:37.860 I certainly hope we are not in a world where we are a banana republic, where it is routine to prosecute your predecessors.
00:27:45.340 I don't know.
00:27:47.140 But I do think the Democrats have gone down a road that it's very hard to turn around and come back from.
00:27:54.420 Yeah, it is going to be very, very tough, to put it mildly, to turn this thing around.
00:28:00.180 And I think once they realize they can do this, I don't see Democrats being responsible moving forward with it.
00:28:05.420 That's my biggest concern.
00:28:06.800 So is there anything we can do to protect former presidents?
00:28:10.560 Or does something need to change with the law?
00:28:12.480 Look, the biggest thing we can and should do is re-elect Donald Trump as president.
00:28:18.340 Elections have consequences.
00:28:20.260 We're six weeks away from Election Day.
00:28:22.500 The outcome of this election matters immensely.
