Verdict with Ted Cruz - Mayorkas LIED： Explosive Cross-Examination In The Senate Judiciary Committee

00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.

00:00:02.460 Guaranteed human.

00:00:05.480 Welcome.

00:00:06.300 It is Verdict with Senator Ted Cruz.

00:00:08.240 Ben Ferguson with you.

00:00:09.460 Senator, it was a unbelievable moment for you yesterday in the Senate

00:00:15.700 as you were going back and forth

00:00:18.280 questioning the Department of Homeland Security Secretary,

00:00:21.920 my Orcus, who really clearly,

00:00:25.320 after you went through this with him,

00:00:27.140 proved he doesn't know anything that's going on at this border.

00:00:31.100 Was he lying to you, or do you actually believe he really doesn't know what's going on?

00:00:35.520 I think he doesn't care.

00:00:37.020 I think he's a political operative.

00:00:38.440 I think he's willing to follow the orders of the Biden White House.

00:00:42.320 I think he is perfectly fine with open borders.

00:00:44.560 Not only perfectly fine, I think he views his job as expediting and facilitating open borders,

00:00:50.840 enabling illegal aliens to cross faster,

00:00:53.240 maximizing the number of illegal aliens coming into this country,

00:00:57.100 and I think he has no concern about the human tragedies,

00:01:01.440 about the suffering that is resulting from his manifest dereliction of duty.

00:01:06.780 I've never seen anything like it.

00:01:08.820 I want to play some of the highlights for this,

00:01:11.880 and just some of the basic questions that you asked him,

00:01:15.460 dealt with basic things that this man should be able to answer.

00:01:20.660 One of those was you asking him a question of,

00:01:23.260 is there a crisis at the border?

00:01:26.080 Take a listen.

00:01:26.920 For everybody that missed it, this was incredible.

00:01:30.000 Is there a crisis at our southern border?

00:01:32.760 Senator, there is a very significant...

00:01:35.060 That's a yes or no question.

00:01:36.140 There is a very significant...

00:01:36.780 Is there a crisis?

00:01:38.880 Senator, there is a very significant challenge...

00:01:40.780 I think your microphone is not on.

00:01:43.520 There is a very significant challenge that we are facing...

00:01:46.400 Yes or no, is there a crisis?

00:01:48.220 I believe I've addressed that question, Senator.

00:01:49.860 So you're refusing to answer?

00:01:51.220 Senator, there is a very significant challenge, and we are there for...

00:01:54.180 Will you answer if there's a crisis?

00:01:56.100 Therefore, we are dedicating the resources...

00:01:58.200 Okay, so you're refusing to answer.

00:01:59.500 Well, Secretary Mayorkas, I'll tell you someone who is willing to answer,

00:02:04.860 which is your and President Biden's chief of the Border Patrol

00:02:08.280 in a sworn deposition in July of 2022 when asked,

00:02:12.800 would you agree, Chief Ortiz, that the southern border is currently in crisis?

00:02:16.160 Answer, yes.

00:02:17.580 Notice, none of those wiggle words, none of that equivocation.

00:02:20.320 One word, one syllable, yes.

00:02:22.400 Are you willing to speak with the same clarity as Chief Ortiz?

00:02:24.940 Is there a crisis at our southern border?

00:02:26.500 Yes or no?

00:02:27.220 Senator, I'm very proud to work alongside...

00:02:29.340 So you refuse to answer.

00:02:30.360 Let me ask you the next question.

00:02:32.760 Has the crisis at our southern border made Americans less safe, yes or no?

00:02:39.040 Senator, we are dedicated to the safety and security of...

00:02:42.360 Has the crisis made Americans less safe?

00:02:44.260 I don't want a discourse.

00:02:46.000 It's a yes or no question.

00:02:47.560 Senator, we have a challenge of...

00:02:50.680 You refuse to answer the question.

00:02:52.220 Not...

00:02:52.780 Mr. Secretary, let me show you how someone doing his job

00:02:55.420 answers a question in a straightforward manner.

00:02:57.460 Senator, Chief Ortiz, is the crisis that is currently ongoing at the southern border

00:03:02.400 making the border less safe for Americans and aliens alike?

00:03:06.180 Answer, yes.

00:03:07.100 One word, one syllable, three letters.

00:03:09.460 That's how someone answers a question and does their job.

00:03:12.080 You're being a politician misleading the American people.

00:03:14.700 Let me give you a chance again.

00:03:16.360 Will you show the same integrity Chief Ortiz shows?

00:03:19.020 Is the crisis at the southern border making Americans less safe, yes or no?

00:03:24.820 Senator, we have 260,000 people...

00:03:26.700 You refuse to answer the question.

00:03:28.120 Let's move on.

00:03:30.080 You hear it, and it's shocking, Senator, because when you hear this,

00:03:35.200 this is the guy in charge of the border, and he can't even answer this basic question,

00:03:39.740 and his job is not supposed to be a political operative job, right?

00:03:43.100 He's not supposed to be like, I'm a Democrat who's in charge of the Department of Homeland Security, right?

00:03:48.920 No, that's exactly right.

00:03:50.540 What's utterly maddening is Mayorkas is a witness. 1.00

00:03:53.620 He may be the worst witness I've ever seen.

00:03:55.900 He will not answer a single question.

00:03:58.300 It doesn't matter what you ask him.

00:03:59.500 You could ask him what day it is.

00:04:00.800 You could ask him what time of day it is, and he will say,

00:04:03.920 Senator, we want to protect America, blah, blah, blah, blah.

00:04:07.500 He just reads his talking points, and it doesn't...

00:04:10.140 I've never seen a witness...

00:04:13.340 This was true in all of my questions.

00:04:15.040 I had a 10-minute round.

00:04:16.760 He wouldn't answer a single question I asked the whole time.

00:04:19.600 That was true of every other senator I saw.

00:04:21.620 He believes his job as a witness is stand up and just read his political spin.

00:04:28.700 And look, one of the things that shows is it shows a contempt not just for Congress but for the American people.

00:04:34.980 The reason you have an oversight hearing is under the Constitution, under Article I, Congress has the legislative authority and has oversight authority over the executive branch.

00:04:45.780 And when senators are asking those questions, it's not just me sitting there, like, asking some questions because I'm curious.

00:04:52.500 I have a job to represent 30 million Texans.

00:04:55.460 So when I'm asking that question, I'm trying to do my very best I can to represent what those Texans are feeling, what they're facing.

00:05:03.260 I can tell you Texans know the answer. 0.98

00:05:05.780 Is there a crisis at our southern border?

00:05:07.700 Hell yes.

00:05:08.380 Actually, Texans, it would be two words, not one, and I would forgive a hell yes instead of a yes. 0.61

00:05:13.680 But when he just shows contempt, he will not answer because it's all political spin, and he is not willing to answer to the American people.

00:05:29.300 But it's not just that he won't answer you and the oversight or the American people.

00:05:35.180 It's the fact that he's sitting there almost like he thinks this is beneath him to be questioned.

00:05:40.600 Yes, yes.

00:05:41.340 The arrogance that he showed, and I was watching this.

00:05:44.620 And by the way, Merrick Garland does the same thing.

00:05:46.260 The attorney general, Merrick Garland likewise won't answer a question.

00:05:49.640 This Biden cabinet embodies hubris.

00:05:54.700 They embody dripping contempt and arrogance.

00:05:57.520 Look, the last podcast we talked about John Kerry defending billionaires flying private jets to Davos, saying, well, you know, they work harder to save the world from climate change than most people.

00:06:08.640 So they ought to be sitting there having Grey Poupon and champagne with their Corinthian leather fancy private jets.

00:06:14.720 I mean, it is it is contempt that that characterizes the Biden cabinet.

00:06:22.360 It also reminded me a little bit of Fauci.

00:06:25.380 Oh, yeah.

00:06:26.340 Oh, yeah.

00:06:26.600 The narcissistic attitude of this is my world.

00:06:30.920 I have to check a box and come deal with you today.

00:06:34.120 And I don't have to answer to you or any of the American people.

00:06:37.980 In other words, I'm not working for the American people. 0.88

00:06:40.580 That seems to be what he thinks is that he gets to do what he wants to do.

00:06:44.880 And he shouldn't have to answer to anyone.

00:06:47.180 He works for Joe Biden.

00:06:49.100 He is a political operative.

00:06:51.280 Joe Biden has handed the immigration agenda over to the radical open borders, extreme left.

00:06:57.960 They want as many illegal aliens as possible in America. 1.00

00:07:01.560 And the amazing thing is they do not care.

00:07:05.460 I have to tell you, you spend time on the southern border.

00:07:08.200 I spend a lot of time on the southern border.

00:07:10.020 The suffering, the deaths, the misery that comes from this, the fact that, look, this official, Alejandro Mayorkas, is responsible for that suffering and death.

00:07:21.900 And I don't think he stays awake at night thinking about it.

00:07:25.300 I don't think he worries about it at all, even though Americans are dying, even though illegal immigrants are dying, even though children are suffering. 0.99

00:07:34.220 He's got a political partisan agenda.

00:07:36.420 And sadly, that's all that matters to him.

00:07:38.820 Yeah.

00:07:38.980 You mentioned that he doesn't seem to care.

00:07:40.880 One of the questions you asked him, and I want to play this for people, were how many migrants died under Joe Biden.

00:07:47.300 But before we get to that, I want to tell you about our friends over at Chalk.

00:07:50.560 If you're a guy and you're getting a little bit older and you feel like you've lost a little bit of that edge, there is an answer.

00:07:57.320 The patriots at Chalk are here to help real American men maximize their masculinity by boosting testosterone levels up to 20% over 90 days.

00:08:08.120 Now, I've been taking the Chalk Male Vitality stack, and I can tell you it works. 0.52

00:08:13.300 You can maximize your masculinity and say no to just feeling like you're getting older.

00:08:41.220 C-H-O-Q dot com. 1.00

00:08:42.740 Senator, you asked Mayorkas about a basic question that he, I'm pretty sure, knows the answer to, and I think it goes to what you just said.

00:08:51.060 He doesn't care about how many people die.

00:08:53.780 Listen.

00:08:54.200 Mr. Mayorkas, has the crisis made aliens less safe, yes or no?

00:08:59.560 Senator, we are seeking...

00:09:01.980 So you won't answer that question either.

00:09:03.800 It's a yes or no.

00:09:05.980 Has it made aliens less safe?

00:09:07.780 Senator, smugglers are exploiting...

00:09:10.380 Has the crisis made aliens, yes, less safe?

00:09:13.460 Are you willing to answer it?

00:09:15.600 Senator, the smuggling organizations...

00:09:18.180 Okay, you're filibustering again.

00:09:19.760 Let me ask you this question.

00:09:21.700 How many migrants have died under President Biden?

00:09:25.780 Senator, your phrasing of the question is actually quite misleading.

00:09:30.400 How many migrants died in 2022?

00:09:35.360 Approaching our southern border?

00:09:36.540 Yes.

00:09:37.660 Precisely why we are seeking to exclude this smuggling organization.

00:09:40.620 Do you know the answer?

00:09:41.360 Do you know how many died?

00:09:42.440 I do not.

00:09:43.180 You do not.

00:09:43.740 Of course you don't.

00:09:44.680 I know how many died.

00:09:46.420 853.

00:09:47.400 That is...

00:09:47.680 853.

00:09:48.900 And by the way, here are the numbers that have died every year.

00:09:51.760 You go back to 1998.

00:09:53.120 You see it's consistently between 300 and 400.

00:09:55.200 304 to 300 and 400.

00:09:56.720 Suddenly, 2021, what happens?

00:09:59.000 You get in office and that red line are dead bodies.

00:10:03.040 I've been on the Rio Grande and I've seen dead bodies floating there who drowned because

00:10:08.320 of your refusal to do your job.

00:10:10.360 You don't even know how many have died.

00:10:12.040 What do you say to the Texas farmers and ranchers who find pregnant ladies dead on their property, 1.00

00:10:18.160 who find toddlers dead on their property?

00:10:20.440 What do you say to them?

00:10:21.640 I say that is why, precisely, we are taking it to the smuggling organizations.

00:10:26.400 But you are not.

00:10:27.240 That is simply not true.

00:10:28.680 Number two, it is why we are...

00:10:30.220 Let me read from the Wall Street Journal.

00:10:33.140 The Wall Street Journal two weeks ago ran an article entitled,

00:10:36.200 It's Like a Graveyard.

00:10:38.060 Record numbers of migrants are dying at the border.

00:10:40.620 The story begins with this chilling line, quote,

00:10:44.100 Eagle Pass, Texas.

00:10:46.000 Local officials keep a refrigerated truck to hold the bodies of migrants

00:10:50.060 who drown in the currents of the Rio Grande while trying to cross the border into the U.S.

00:10:56.700 Mr. Chairman, I ask unanimous consent that this article be entered into the record.

00:11:00.260 Senator, it is like he just doesn't care,

00:11:03.780 which is so shocking to sit there and watch his facial expressions.

00:11:07.460 He's numb to these stats.

00:11:09.220 It doesn't matter to him.

00:11:11.580 I don't know how a Secretary of Homeland Security could not know the answer to that question.

00:11:16.820 How many migrants died last year?

00:11:18.700 It's 853.

00:11:19.780 It's the highest in history.

00:11:21.340 And he doesn't know.

00:11:22.740 He doesn't care.

00:11:23.560 I don't know that he's ever asked.

00:11:24.760 I don't know that anyone's bothered to tell him.

00:11:26.460 He feels no responsibility for it.

00:11:28.120 And I got to say, look, when you go down to the Rio Grande Valley, when I'm down there, I try to sit down with sheriffs.

00:11:36.260 I try to sit down with law enforcement.

00:11:37.820 I always sit down with Border Patrol.

00:11:39.840 I sit down with farmers and ranchers.

00:11:42.640 When you look in the eyes of farmers and ranchers, I've had them put photograph after photograph after photograph of dead bodies they find.

00:11:49.920 Dead bodies one after the other.

00:11:51.980 Imagine this.

00:11:52.760 I get them.

00:11:53.760 They send me texts.

00:11:54.700 If I was out of my ranch today, here are two dead bodies I found just abandoned on the ranch. 0.99

00:11:58.940 Because these human traffickers, they are vicious criminals. 0.98

00:12:02.040 They don't care. 0.97

00:12:03.600 If someone is weak, if someone's frail, if someone's sick, if a woman is pregnant and she's not able to keep up, you know what? 0.99

00:12:09.380 They just abandoned them to die in the heat.

00:12:12.480 And Mayorkas' view is, oh, well, tough luck.

00:12:16.680 You can tell he's not doing anything to stop it, and in fact, he intends to continue it.

00:12:22.320 So next year, that number is going to be higher than 853.

00:12:26.740 Because when you open up the border to the worst illegal immigration in the history of our country, you make the drug cartels and human trafficking cartels into massive multibillion-dollar global enterprises.

00:12:40.620 The election of Joe Biden, Joe Biden becoming president, is the single best thing that has ever happened to the Mexican drug cartels in their lives.

00:12:48.680 And Alejandro Mayorkas is the happy lackey turning these vicious criminals into billionaires and forcing the Border Patrol to essentially be the travel agents, to be the last mile of the human trafficking network facilitating this horrific oppression.

00:13:09.440 Senator, there was something else that was interesting as I was watching this, and I want to get your take.

00:13:16.540 And that was, it seemed that Mayorkas came in not necessarily ill-prepared, just not caring. 0.99

00:13:25.940 Most of the time, you get a briefing.

00:13:27.760 If you are going before Congress, you would have the numbers that you just mentioned.

00:13:33.760 You would have some stats and data.

00:13:35.820 You would prepare for this.

00:13:37.020 It was almost like he showed up and says, I don't have to prepare for this because I know ultimately what I'm doing now is going to keep happening regardless of what you asked me today.

00:13:49.240 Yeah, no, that's exactly right.

00:13:51.020 I mean, normally a cabinet member preparing for a Senate oversight hearing spends real time, spends several days, spends maybe a week preparing.

00:14:01.120 Normally they have a briefing notebook in front of them with all sorts of stats, and so if you ask them a question, how many migrants died, they flip to a tab.

00:14:09.660 They may not know the number off the top of their head, but they've got a tab, and they say, oh, well, in 2022, the number's 853.

00:14:15.520 That happens in Senate hearings every day.

00:14:20.120 That's what actually a witness who is testifying, who's providing testimony, providing information, that's what they do.

00:14:27.620 Mayorkas just sat there as a smug, content potentate with no sense.

00:14:35.900 He owes nothing, he believes, to the Senate.

00:14:38.940 He owes nothing to the law.

00:14:40.660 He owes nothing to the American people.

00:14:43.080 He is there to be a political lackey of the president, and nothing else matters to him.

00:14:49.080 You talk about the border.

00:14:50.580 The border czar was supposed to be, obviously, the vice president of the United States of America.

00:14:55.260 Biden, you know, basically—

00:14:58.500 Say that again?

00:14:59.720 Who?

00:15:00.760 I'm sorry, who's that person?

00:15:02.520 Oh, yeah, right?

00:15:03.200 Exactly, yeah.

00:15:03.840 The vice president of the United States of America.

00:15:05.880 Wasn't she supposed to be in charge of the border czar, right?

00:15:07.920 Wasn't that her job?

00:15:08.280 I'm sorry, I don't know who that person is.

00:15:10.300 She is not involved in the border.

00:15:14.760 I mean, it's sad that you're joking this way because it's so factually accurate.

00:15:20.340 The sad thing is I'm not joking.

00:15:22.200 Mayorkas doesn't talk to Kamala Harris.

00:15:24.180 Merrick Garland doesn't talk to Kamala Harris.

00:15:25.880 Kamala Harris doesn't go to the border. 0.84

00:15:27.460 She made a brief little photo stop in El Paso, but she's never been to the Rio Grande Valley.

00:15:32.240 She has no idea what's going on.

00:15:34.660 I mean, the only reason she was, quote, border czar is because Joe Biden can't stand her, so he figures, okay, the border's a mess.

00:15:41.260 Let's give it to Kamala and make the blame fall on her. 1.00

00:15:44.660 But, you know, she's not clever enough to understand, okay, they're screwing me by making me in charge of this.

00:15:50.560 And she's not – even if she did figure that out, she's not good enough to say, okay, well, if they're going to stick it on me, why don't I do something about it?

00:15:58.860 Nope.

00:15:59.500 You know what?

00:16:00.020 She has the same hubris as Mayorkas, the same hubris as Merrick Garland of I don't have to answer the American people. 1.00

00:16:06.740 It doesn't matter that I don't know anything about the border, that I've never been to the border, that I don't care about the border, that I'm doing nothing to solve it.

00:16:12.880 But, oh, well, no one will hold me to account, and it's – there's a consistent thread that runs through this entire administration.

00:16:21.420 It's not just a consistent thread.

00:16:23.580 It's a fact that this is their policy, that as we look at it as a failure, they're looking at this as a success.

00:16:31.500 And the success is for the border to be overrun and to remake this country. 0.51

00:16:36.080 Is that your take on this?

00:16:37.600 I mean, this was done by design.

00:16:39.060 This isn't by accident.

00:16:40.060 This was a deliberate decision they made to open the floodgates to this country, the fentanyl, the human trafficking, the sex trafficking, everything else that comes across the border.

00:16:51.280 They knew it was going to happen.

00:16:53.480 They then saw it was happening and have not changed course one time since they got elected.

00:16:58.480 Well, I think that's right.

00:16:59.880 I will say this.

00:17:01.020 I do think some Democrats are realizing that the utter disaster at the southern border is a political liability.

00:17:07.260 So what has happened – we talk about this a lot on the pod.

00:17:11.300 This White House made a political decision on every issue.

00:17:15.300 Let's give the agenda to the radical left.

00:17:17.620 So on immigration, it's the open border radical left.

00:17:21.140 On law enforcement, it's the abolish the police and George Soros prosecutors radical left.

00:17:26.540 On gender policy, it's the transgender mutilate children to change their gender radical left. 1.00

00:17:35.400 These are all views that have a tiny percentage of support with the American people.

00:17:42.080 These are not center-left views.

00:17:44.760 These are not center views.

00:17:46.120 These are 10%, 15% fringe views that on every issue, that's what they follow.

00:17:51.800 What is interesting is I do think a couple of White House aides and I think some Senate Democrats are realizing, wow, this border has gotten so bad, we're vulnerable.

00:18:04.440 And here's some of the evidence of that.

00:18:06.240 Biden tweeted out this week, we need to do more to fund securing the border.

00:18:10.380 And it's just – it's a deranged tweet.

00:18:13.700 And, of course, what he tries to do is blame it on Republicans.

00:18:16.260 It's Republicans that don't want to secure the border, which is – it's the most bizarre – but the fact that he's saying it shows vulnerability.

00:18:28.960 And I'll tell you one of the things that I found very interesting in yesterday's hearing, as I was vigorously questioning Mayorkas, and he started to get in real trouble and he started to panic.

00:18:43.540 And he looked over at Dick Durbin, who's the chairman of the committee, and he said, Mr. Chairman, would you help me?

00:18:48.720 And he kind of looked helpless and plaintiff.

00:18:51.300 And I've served 11 years on judiciary with Durbin.

00:18:54.200 Durbin and I go round and round and round.

00:18:56.260 And Durbin is, I think, the smartest of the Democrats on the committee, is the most effective questioner on the committee.

00:19:02.280 He and I have battled 1,000 times in the Roman Coliseum arena.

00:19:08.240 Dick Durbin is not remotely shy to come after me, and I'm not remotely shy to come after him.

00:19:12.260 And so often at these hearings, he and I go round and round.

00:19:14.940 I found it fascinating that when Mayorkas pleaded to Durbin to come in and save him, Durbin just looked at him and didn't do anything.

00:19:23.080 And what it said to me is Durbin was like, dude, you're on your own on this one, that I think Senate Democrats are not eager to get in the mud pit with Mayorkas. 0.88

00:19:34.240 And I got to say, it kind of felt like, and by the way, it's the only time I can think of it 11 years, when Durbin has refrained from coming after me on that sort of questioning.

00:19:42.740 Usually it would feature Durbin jumping in because he likes to do that.

00:19:47.340 And I actually took it as at least for some Senate Democrats, they're getting fed up with Mayorkas and they're looking at him saying, OK, this guy needs to be the sacrificial lamb.

00:19:58.340 He needs to go down. Let's blame this whole border disaster on him, have him fired and focus on the midterms.

00:20:05.740 I thought that was in many ways the most revealing, quiet moment of the hearing.

00:20:12.100 Nobody on the outside watching noticed it.

00:20:15.140 But but for sitting on the committee, it screamed from a mountaintop.

00:20:20.700 Yeah, there's been talk about Mayorkas possibly being impeached for literally not doing his job.

00:20:26.600 And that goes back to the most heated point of your back and forth.

00:20:31.120 And I want to play that for people, because it was also very telling when he got angry that you were coming after him with the facts and he was losing with those facts and then not being bailed out by Dick Durbin.

00:20:42.400 I'm going to play that in a second. But let me tell you about our friends over at Augusta Precious Metals.

00:21:59.060 Or online, AugustaPreciousMetals.com. That's AugustaPreciousMetals.com.

00:22:04.720 Senator, one of the most contentious parts of the back and forth with you and Mayorkas was clearly after Durbin wasn't going to bail him out.

00:22:12.880 And this was one of the most brilliant moments I've seen in a long time. Take a listen.

00:22:16.840 There's a photograph from just one day along the Rio Grande of hundreds of thousands of people walking across the border.

00:22:23.920 You have allowed this to happen. The photograph that was before. What are these wristbands?

00:22:31.280 I don't know what they are.

00:22:32.660 You don't know what they are.

00:22:35.120 Mr. Secretary, you have just testified to the American people you're incompetent at your job.

00:22:39.060 Because I've been to the southern border.

00:22:40.580 And if you go to the southern border, along the southern border, you see thousands of these wristbands.

00:22:46.480 Because the illegal immigrants wear them. 1.00

00:22:48.580 The drug cartels, every color corresponds to how many thousands of dollars they owe the cartels.

00:22:54.160 You have turned these cartels into multi-billion dollar criminal organizations.

00:22:58.560 And these are modern day leg irons. 0.82

00:23:01.660 Because these are children being sold into sex slavery.

00:23:05.520 And you don't even know what they are.

00:23:07.180 That is astonishing.

00:23:09.120 Mr. Secretary, how many children have been sold into sex slavery under your administration?

00:23:13.400 Senator, we are taking it to the cartels.

00:23:14.940 How many children have been sold into sex slavery?

00:23:17.220 Do you know how many children have been sold into sex slavery?

00:23:19.960 To an unprecedented degree.

00:23:21.620 Mr. Secretary, I want to say to you right now.

00:23:23.620 Your behavior is disgraceful. 0.96

00:23:26.520 And the deaths, the children assaulted, the children raped. 0.99

00:23:29.660 They are at your feet.

00:23:31.700 And if you had integrity, you would resign.

00:23:33.920 And I will tell you, the men and women of the Border Patrol, they've never had a political leader undermine them. 0.93

00:23:39.680 They despise you, Mr. Secretary, because you're willing to let children be raped to follow political orders. 0.85

00:23:46.620 This is a crisis. 0.99

00:23:47.620 It's a disgrace.

00:23:48.520 And you won't even admit this human tragedy is a crisis.

00:23:52.920 Claiming one minute chairman time, Mr. Secretary, would you like to respond to any of those questions?

00:23:57.020 What the senator said was revolting.

00:23:58.640 I'm not going to address it.

00:24:00.140 Your refusal to do your job is revolting.

00:24:02.260 I don't think you could have ended that any better. 0.61

00:24:06.120 Your refusal to do your job is revolting.

00:24:09.400 And all of the carnage that you just mentioned and everything that this man doesn't know.

00:24:14.320 How does he not know about the wristbands?

00:24:16.720 And do you believe that he lied to you?

00:24:18.320 Look, I'm sitting here now, hours after that cross-examination.

00:24:23.380 I'm still furious.

00:24:24.420 I'm angry because I spend a lot of time on the southern border.

00:24:29.560 I've seen these kids. 0.91

00:24:31.640 I've seen little boys and little girls who've been raped by the human traffickers.

00:24:35.360 I've seen the tragedy. 0.83

00:24:37.000 I've seen little girls who are pregnant because they were raped by the traffickers.

00:24:41.300 I've seen the – let me tell you something horrific.

00:24:45.740 When I last brought a group of senators down to the border, the Border Patrol agents told us about a phenomenon.

00:24:52.340 I'm sorry.

00:24:52.840 This is graphic.

00:24:53.500 But a phenomenon they're seeing that they call rape trees.

00:24:59.380 And what happens is the traffickers bring women over to the United States. 0.99

00:25:03.300 And on U.S. soil, they rape those women. 1.00

00:25:06.900 They then take their underwear and they hang them in the trees. 0.97

00:25:11.380 And border patrol or sheriffs, they encounter trees that will have 10, 15, 20 women's underwear hanging in the branches.

00:25:18.240 And they do it as a taunt, a taunt to the Border Patrol, a taunt to the police.

00:25:23.580 You can't stop us.

00:25:26.900 And so when I look at Bayorkas, that human suffering, I've seen too much of it, and he doesn't care. 1.00

00:25:36.880 And the reason I know he doesn't care is if he cared, he would act to stop it.

00:25:41.640 It is in his power to stop it.

00:25:42.780 But we had, the year before he became Homeland Security Secretary, the year before Biden became president, 2020, we had the lowest illegal immigration in 45 years.

00:25:53.560 We know how to solve this problem.

00:25:55.720 But Bayorkas and Biden made a political decision.

00:25:59.300 We want every illegal alien possible in America, and we don't care. 1.00

00:26:03.620 We don't care about the suffering.

00:26:05.280 And I have to admit, at the hearing, the answer he gave that surprised me the most is the one you just played a minute ago when he said he didn't know what the wristbands were.

00:26:17.640 I was startled at that because I got to tell you, when you stand on the banks of the Rio Grande, as I've had, they cover the grass.

00:26:26.180 They're everywhere because it's – look, it's like a QR code.

00:26:31.140 You got to understand, these cartels – in 2018, the drug cartels made roughly $500 million from human trafficking.

00:26:40.220 That's in 2018.

00:26:42.100 Last year, they made $13 billion.

00:26:45.460 That's a 2,600 percent increase.

00:26:48.420 The $13 billion they made, they have these wristbands on every person who comes over.

00:26:53.420 They collect the money.

00:26:54.660 They send the boys to work for gangs in cities all across America.

00:26:57.920 They send the girls to work in forced sex slavery. 0.99

00:27:01.840 And I look at these – I have a number of the wristbands.

00:27:06.920 So what you couldn't hear when I said, how do you not know, is I had a manila envelope full of wristbands that I collected at the border that I just dumped out on the dais and held them up.

00:27:17.720 Because I picked them up, and some of them are tiny.

00:27:20.300 Some of them obviously were on a little child, a four-, five-, six-year-old.

00:27:25.660 And as I said in that questioning, I look at those wristbands as modern-day leg irons.

00:27:29.940 I mean, we have today human slavery, just like the horrors of human slavery in the first century of our nation's history.

00:27:39.020 We have human slavery today, except today the people responsible for the slavery are Alejandro Mayorkas and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

00:27:48.000 And for him to say, I don't know what those are.

00:27:51.520 Like, I was genuinely flabbergasted, speechless.

00:27:58.340 Like, how do you do that job and not go down to the border, not talk to the border patrol agents, not go stand by the river and say, hey, what are these things?

00:28:06.200 How do you not listen to the men and women on the front lines who tell you what's happening?

00:28:11.540 And any person with a hint of morality, okay, fine, if the White House gives you a political order, we want open borders, we don't care what happens.

00:28:21.220 You know what a person with integrity does?

00:28:23.600 Says, Mr. President, I can't do that.

00:28:25.860 I can't sit here and turn a blind eye while people are brutalized.

00:28:30.200 I'm not going to be responsible for that.

00:28:33.060 That's what someone with integrity in that cabinet position does.

00:28:38.400 And Mayorkas, the idea hasn't even occurred to him.

00:28:42.460 And notice his response at the end when Durbin said, do you want to respond to any of that?

00:28:47.840 He didn't say, oh, of course I know what the wristbands are.

00:28:50.120 He had no idea what they were.

00:28:51.780 He didn't say, oh, the children being assaulted is tragic.

00:28:55.660 He said those questions are revolting.

00:28:58.380 It's that same contempt, that dripping arrogance that says, how dare anyone question what I'm doing?

00:29:08.000 And you know what?

00:29:09.020 If you're a mom of one of those children who've been assaulted, I got to say you watch this testimony today.

00:29:17.220 I don't know if you're filled with more grief and tears or anger or both.

00:29:23.280 But what's infuriating, he intends to change nothing, which means he intends to allow more people to be killed, more people to be sexually assaulted, more people to be brutalized, and more Americans to die of fentanyl overdoses as a result.

00:29:43.200 Canadian women are looking for more, more out of themselves, their businesses, their elected leaders, and the world around them. 0.98

00:29:50.580 And that's why we're thrilled to introduce the Honest Talk podcast.

00:29:54.300 I'm Jennifer Stewart.

00:29:55.480 And I'm Catherine Clark.

00:29:56.720 And in this podcast, we interview Canada's most inspiring women.

00:30:00.460 Entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, politicians, and newsmakers, all at different stages of their journey.

00:30:05.900 So, if you're looking to connect, then we hope you'll join us.

00:30:09.400 Listen to the Honest Talk podcast on iHeartRadio or wherever you listen to your podcasts.

00:30:14.820 Well, let's talk about the fentanyl for a second because this has been an issue that has affected so many families all over the country, is the ODing.

00:30:24.080 And we know that the fentanyl is coming across our open border.

00:30:26.640 We've seen it skyrocket.

00:30:27.920 The number one killer of young people in America today is now fentanyl overdoses.

00:30:31.940 I don't know a single family now that doesn't know someone who's died from a fentanyl overdose in my extended group of friends.

00:30:43.540 It's happening now on a more regular basis.

00:30:46.120 A week ago, I got a phone call of somebody who I worked with.

00:30:51.320 He was at an event, and they thought they were smoking marijuana.

00:30:56.440 No intent to die.

00:30:58.220 Three of the people collapsed right there.

00:31:00.780 Two of the three died.

00:31:02.260 These are individuals that were older.

00:31:04.440 They thought they were having a time, you know, just smoking some weed.

00:31:08.600 And that's now how my point is, how much fentanyl is coming across.

00:31:12.800 It's in everything.

00:31:14.220 It's being shipped in massive quantities in this country, enough to kill every man, woman, and child.

00:31:20.340 You and I have talked about this before.

00:31:21.880 But just from a drug standpoint, does he seem to even care about that at all either?

00:31:26.760 No, he has empty talking points.

00:31:29.980 And listen, when it comes to fentanyl overdoses, they're not even overdoses.

00:31:34.380 At this point, I think they're poisonings because they're different.

00:31:37.540 You think of someone who has a heroin overdose.

00:31:39.840 You think of someone that, say, is a heroin user, and it's tragic, and they're injecting, and they're injecting, and they accidentally inject too much.

00:31:46.240 And that's a tragedy, but it's a tragedy based on a really dangerous, slippery slope of conduct.

00:31:54.460 What's happening with fentanyl is a different beast.

00:31:56.760 Last year, there were over 100,000 people who died of overdoses, the majority from Chinese fentanyl coming across our southern border.

00:32:03.760 And what happens, as you describe your friend, look, as you know, my sister Miriam died of an overdose about 12 years ago.

00:32:11.760 It was not fentanyl, but it was painkillers, and she took too many of them.

00:32:15.180 We don't know if it was on purpose or not, but she took a whole bunch of pills at night and never woke up in the morning.

00:32:22.560 And I love my sister.

00:32:23.880 My sister was nine years older than me.

00:32:25.520 She was an amazing person who tragically made a lot of wrong decisions and ended up paying for those decisions.

00:32:34.440 The scourge of drug use has been massive, but with fentanyl now, it's qualitatively different because it's one guy at a party who smokes one joint.

00:32:46.860 And listen, when we were kids, when I was a teenager, I smoked pot.

00:32:50.980 I've admitted that.

00:32:52.520 I smoked pot.

00:32:53.540 I tried it as a teenager.

00:32:54.480 I haven't smoked pot since I was a teenager, but as a teenager, when I was in high school and a little bit in college, I smoked pot.

00:33:01.400 At the time, you know, you got high, you had fun, you wanted some Cheetos, and then you were done.

00:33:09.860 There wasn't really a risk of, okay, if I smoke this joint, I'm going to fall over dead.

00:33:16.300 There is right now that very real risk because they're lacing marijuana with fentanyl.

00:33:21.760 You look at parties where a kid, a teenage kid will say, hey, take a pill, have a Valium, have a Percocet, have a Ritalin. 0.51

00:33:34.200 And, you know, look, kids experiment, they do stupid things, and so some kid says, oh, that sounds like fun, and they take one pill.

00:33:42.260 Now, it used to be if a kid at a party took one pill, they might get a buzz or something, and it would be fine. 0.99

00:33:48.220 Now, if they take one pill and it has fentanyl in it and a little too much, the kid drops over dead.

00:33:54.220 And let's be clear what a little too much is.

00:33:56.220 It can be the size of the end of a ballpoint pen granular to put it in perspective of what too much is, what can kill you is.

00:34:07.660 So let me tell you an illustration that a DEA agent told me.

00:34:11.640 I was visiting with a DEA agent and a mom whose 22-year-old daughter was at a party, took one pill, and fell over dead from fentanyl.

00:34:19.900 And the illustration this DEA agent did is he said he brought with him some packs of sweet and low, and he said, open the pack of sweet and low.

00:34:27.480 And so we all did.

00:34:28.060 There were like a half dozen of us around the table.

00:34:29.700 We all did.

00:34:30.400 He said, dump out all of the sweet and low.

00:34:32.540 So we dumped it all out on the table.

00:34:34.340 He said, okay, now stick your pinky in the packet, the empty packet, and we did.

00:34:40.180 You pulled it out.

00:34:41.340 And there were a handful of little flecks of sweet and low on your finger, tiny. 0.98

00:34:46.560 He said, that's enough fentanyl to kill you.

00:34:48.340 The residue from the inside of the packet after you've emptied it out.

00:34:53.280 And I got to tell you, my girls, as you know, are 14 and 12.

00:34:57.580 I sat down with both girls.

00:34:59.440 I had them take a packet of sweet and low, open it up, dip their finger in.

00:35:03.660 And I'm trying to, they're reaching an age where they may go to a party.

00:35:07.340 And some kid says, hey, try this.

00:35:10.300 And I hope their answer is no. 1.00

00:35:12.400 But it used to be, if their answer wasn't no, the consequences were one stupid night and were not, you die right there. 1.00

00:35:21.400 I mean, it is terrifying. 0.99

00:35:24.260 And so the Biden administration has a talking point.

00:35:27.860 The Democrats have a talking point.

00:35:29.200 So much of this hearing, the Senate Democrats were trying to say, we think the fentanyl is terrible and we need to stop it.

00:35:34.380 But it's not our fault.

00:35:36.820 You know, Cory Booker said in the hearing, this problem was here long before Joe Biden.

00:35:42.420 No, no, this, this, this, the explosion of illegal immigrants was not here before Joe Biden.

00:35:49.140 In 2020, we had the lowest rate of illegal immigrants in 45 years.

00:35:53.020 Biden caused it.

00:35:53.880 It's why I had these charts that showed over and over again the explosion.

00:35:57.520 And, and here's what happened.

00:35:59.260 So, so their other talking point is they say the bulk of the fentanyl and drugs we find are at the ports of entry, not crossing the border outside the ports of entry.

00:36:08.540 Now notice the keywords we find.

00:36:11.080 Yeah, they've got hundreds of agents at the ports of entry.

00:36:13.840 So they find drugs there.

00:36:15.820 They pulled most of their agents off of the border.

00:36:19.340 So, you know, one of the things I questioned Mayorkas about in the last 18 months, there've been over 1 million gotaways.

00:36:25.880 What's a gotaway?

00:36:26.880 Anyway, an illegal alien they spot somewhere running who gets away.

00:36:31.400 I asked Mayorkas, all right, of the gotaways, you don't know how many of them are murderers.

00:36:35.000 Of course, the answer is no, they got away.

00:36:36.340 He doesn't know anything about them.

00:36:37.500 He refused to answer that, of course, because he's Mayorkas. 1.00

00:36:40.220 I asked how many of them are rapists.

00:36:42.000 He, he refused to say he didn't know.

00:36:44.080 Of course, he doesn't know.

00:36:44.820 How many are child molesters?

00:36:46.180 Of course, he doesn't know.

00:36:47.640 How many are terrorists?

00:36:48.840 Of course, he doesn't know.

00:36:50.380 But the one that's relevant to this, this line of questioning, how many are drug dealers?

00:36:56.180 How many are carrying fentanyl?

00:36:57.400 He has no idea.

00:37:00.400 And he doesn't care.

00:37:01.700 He just says, no, no, no, it's the ports of entry.

00:37:04.780 And here's what's happening.

00:37:06.120 And I've, when I go out on midnight patrol with the border patrol, here's what they tell me they do.

00:37:10.500 So the cartels will send several rafts across the river and they're portions of the river where the current runs pretty fast.

00:37:18.200 Now, the border patrol does not intercept the rafts in the river.

00:37:23.520 And some people say, oh, you should stop them.

00:37:25.520 Well, there's a reason they don't intercept the rafts in the river.

00:37:27.740 Because if they do, the border patrol, the cartel members will flip the rafts over, will deliberately capsize the rafts.

00:37:36.180 And the rafts have women and children.

00:37:37.940 And suddenly you'll have little kids.

00:37:40.080 You'll have a four-year-old kid getting swept away in the current and drowning.

00:37:43.160 And what happens when that happens is the border patrol agents dive into the water and try to rescue the vulnerable immigrants who are drowning.

00:37:52.420 And the cartels do that because they know that it consumes all the border patrol resources dealing with the humans being trafficked.

00:38:01.320 And then a half mile down the river, they send another raft across loaded with fentanyl.

00:38:06.420 And so they draw all the resources over there by tipping a raft over by having.

00:38:10.960 And by the way, we have border patrol agents.

00:38:12.740 We had a National Guardsman drown trying to save illegal immigrants who are drowning in the river.

00:38:19.300 It is incredibly perilous.

00:38:21.020 But these cartels don't care because they don't even view these people as cattle. 0.54

00:38:26.480 They are less than cattle.

00:38:27.820 They are objects to be discarded. 1.00

00:38:29.780 They view them like garbage. 0.80

00:38:31.520 But the infuriating thing is, even though Mayorkas gives professions, I care. 0.92

00:38:37.780 If you care, you would not continue to allow this suffering to happen. 0.69

00:38:44.480 And he does not intend to change a damn thing, which means at the end of the day, he doesn't care.

00:38:50.720 Let's talk about impeachment quickly.

00:38:53.280 And I want to get your thoughts.

00:38:54.680 There's been a lot of talk about impeachment of Mayorkas, that he is someone that should be impeached for literally not doing his job.

00:39:02.160 Before we get that, let me tell you about our friends at Patriot Mobile.

00:39:04.960 Look, you've got a cell phone.

00:39:06.280 Ninety nine percent of you listening have a cell phone.

00:39:08.940 The majority of you are actually probably listening to this podcast right now on your cell phone.

00:39:13.600 If you're going to have a cell phone, why not have it with a company that actually stands up for the values that you believe in?

00:39:20.420 That's where Patriot Mobile, the only conservative Christian cell phone company in the U.S., comes in.

00:39:26.100 They actually can save you money over what you're paying right now.

00:39:28.860 You get the same exact coverage you have right now on the same towers that you're using right now.

00:39:34.260 Now, the big difference and the reason why you want to switch and why you should switch is this.

00:39:38.200 They take a portion of your bill every month when you pay that bill, and they actually give it back to conservative causes and organizations that you help choose to support.

00:39:48.980 I'm talking about standing up for the life of unborn children.

00:39:52.540 I'm talking about helping with adoptions.

00:39:54.960 I'm talking about your first and your second amendment rights.

00:39:58.020 I'm talking about standing up for parental rights in our schools.

00:40:01.800 That's what they're doing when you pay your bill.

00:40:04.260 So when you make a phone call, when you send a text, and you're with Patriot Mobile, you're making a difference every day.

00:40:11.140 Make the switch to Patriot Mobile.

00:40:12.880 Go to PatriotMobile.com slash verdict.

00:40:16.840 PatriotMobile.com slash verdict.

00:40:20.500 Or call them.

00:40:21.960 878-PATRIOT.

00:40:23.240 That's 878-PATRIOT.

00:40:25.320 Use the promo code VERDICT when you call them, and you will get the best deals of the day.

00:40:30.720 PatriotMobile.com slash verdict.

00:40:33.100 Senator, there's been a lot of talk about impeachment.

00:40:37.620 Obviously, Mayorkas is carrying out the wishes of the President of the United States of America.

00:40:42.660 The President's wishes are clearly just flood the border, let everything in.

00:40:48.300 Whether that's because he's compromised by the Chinese or send the fentanyl, 0.99

00:40:52.620 or he's compromised by some of the deals that his family has done with people in Mexico, I don't know.

00:40:58.240 But it does seem odd to be going against Americans and protecting Americans.

00:41:03.800 So when you look at Mayorkas and the job he's doing, should the Republicans move to impeach him in the House and see what happens after that?

00:41:11.140 So I have three answers for that.

00:41:13.340 Yes, yes, and hell yes.

00:41:15.500 I believe they should impeach Alejandro Mayorkas.

00:41:18.120 I think it should be one of the very top priorities.

00:41:21.200 I think they probably will.

00:41:23.520 The one impediment is they have a narrow four-member majority.

00:41:27.920 So they can't lose – if they lose five Republicans, they're in trouble.

00:41:31.240 Because no Democrat will impeach him.

00:41:33.000 The Democrats don't care.

00:41:34.040 It doesn't matter what facts you put forward.

00:41:36.740 But it's not just that Mayorkas is not doing his job.

00:41:41.240 He's actively and aggressively defying federal law.

00:41:45.140 He's flouting federal law.

00:41:46.320 One of the other talking points Democrats had at the hearings today is Congress has failed.

00:41:50.640 We need to pass new laws to fix this. 0.99

00:41:53.780 What a load of crap. 0.99

00:41:55.620 We have laws. 1.00

00:41:56.540 We have laws that make it illegal to cross into this country illegally.

00:41:59.020 We have laws that mandate that you deport people who are apprehended.

00:42:02.300 Those are the existing laws that Congress has passed.

00:42:05.660 What our Constitution did not envision is a president and a cabinet secretary who utterly ignore the law.

00:42:14.140 They don't even pretend to follow it.

00:42:16.100 And in fact, they affirmatively and aggressively frustrate the law.

00:42:21.000 So that instead of deporting people who come here illegally, as the law requires,

00:42:25.680 the Biden administration puts them on planes and buses and ships them to every community in America,

00:42:31.960 pays for it themselves, and gives them essentially fraudulent work authorizations,

00:42:38.960 give them documents to go get jobs illegally.

00:42:41.920 Federal law says they can't work.

00:42:44.420 The Biden administration is essentially producing counterfeit work authorizations.

00:42:49.120 And they're doing it at the scale of five and a half million people.

00:42:54.320 That's bigger than a lot of the states in America.

00:42:57.800 And Mayorkas should be impeached because he is utterly flouting and defying and mocking federal law.

00:43:07.180 And he is causing death and suffering.

00:43:10.820 He is a direct cause of the hundred thousand overdoses we had last year.

00:43:14.900 He is a direct cause of the children who are abused.

00:43:18.400 He is a direct cause of the women who are sexually assaulted.

00:43:21.280 He is a direct cause of the murderers from MS, the murders from MS-13 and other gang members, 0.96

00:43:26.920 the illegal aliens who come and murder people here. 1.00

00:43:30.000 Yes, he should be impeached. 0.77

00:43:31.800 And you said, see what happens.

00:43:33.940 Listen, the reason to impeach Mayorkas is not because we believe he will be convicted and removed from office.

00:43:40.260 He should be.

00:43:40.880 I would vote in an instant to do that.

00:43:42.580 But impeachment in the House takes a majority.

00:43:46.840 If Republicans hold together, we will have that.

00:43:50.320 Conviction in the Senate, which is what is needed to remove someone from office, takes two-thirds of the Senate.

00:43:56.240 The chances that Senate Democrats will vote to convict are zero because Senate Democrats do not care.

00:44:03.380 Look, most of the Senate Democrats in judiciary skipped most of the hearing today.

00:44:08.560 They'd show up and throw some softball questions.

00:44:11.040 They'd say, gosh, shouldn't we get more H-1B work visas?

00:44:15.080 They don't care.

00:44:15.960 The Democrats, there was not a single Democrat saying, hey, wait a second.

00:44:20.960 How many kids are being sexually assaulted? 0.65

00:44:24.080 How many children are sold into sex slavery?

00:44:27.100 If the Democrats were really the compassionate humanitarian party they claim to be, wouldn't you think at least one of them would be worried about the modern-day slavery that the Biden administration is responsible for?

00:44:41.280 None of them cared.

00:44:42.160 None of them asked about it.

00:44:43.360 None of them were worried about it at all.

00:44:44.940 Instead, they had a political spin.

00:44:46.860 Oh, this problem was here before Biden.

00:44:48.540 It's not his fault.

00:44:50.400 The reason Mayorkas should be impeached, the reason we should have a trial is to put these facts before the American people because the press is complicit.

00:45:00.380 The corporate media does not want people to know these facts.

00:45:03.660 And Ben, the thing to understand, no Democrat defends these.

00:45:07.960 There's a reason Mayorkas won't answer my questions. 1.00

00:45:10.060 You can't defend what is happening.

00:45:14.540 It has crossed the point to being indefensible. 0.92

00:45:18.600 And so their only defense is hide it, is keep the American people ignorant and in the dark.

00:45:24.140 And the purpose of the impeachment is to force the press to cover some of these facts so people understand the horror that this administration has produced.

00:45:35.440 Well, I'll say it because I think there's a lot of people listening that are going to agree with me on this one.

00:45:38.980 Thank you for your tough questioning of Mayorkas today, coming in and challenging him, being prepared, something that he clearly didn't have time to do because it wasn't a priority to him.

00:45:49.440 But these are real questions that people want to get answers from, Senator.
