00:00:34.720 Well, in news of the weird, you now have Joe Biden standing up promising to build the wall.

00:01:17.700 The Biden administration announced it will waive 26 federal laws to allow border wall construction in South Texas because of what they call an acute and immediate need.

00:01:32.740 Some 245,000 migrants have attempted to cross the border illegally in just that one sector since October of last year.

00:01:44.300 Hundreds of migrants rushed past border control agents near El Paso yesterday.
00:01:48.440 So when he was running for president, Biden made clear that he would not expand the border wall if elected.

00:02:07.300 The president also said today that former presidents have said to him that they wish that they had built a wall.

00:02:37.540 Nevertheless, it is very different than what President Biden campaigned on.

00:03:07.720 is 20 miles is great, but it's not near as much as we actually need.

00:03:14.680 And from the announcement, they're putting it down in the Rio Grande Valley in Star County.

00:03:20.500 That's an area of very high traffic.
00:03:22.400 So that that is beneficial if they actually follow through and build that section of the

00:03:29.040 But but here's the important thing to understand.
00:03:31.680 You can build a wall on the entirety of the border and it will not stop illegal immigration
00:03:37.820 unless, unless, unless you have an administration that will follow the law and deport the people

00:03:47.040 So when I'm down at the border, almost without exception, I sit down, I meet with the border
00:03:52.320 patrol agents.
00:03:53.080 I meet with ICE.
00:03:54.120 I meet with sheriffs.
00:03:55.300 I meet with local police and local law enforcement.
00:03:58.260 And I try to listen.
00:03:59.380 I try to ask them, OK, what tools do you need?
00:04:02.660 How do you actually secure the border?
00:04:04.940 Now, without exception, they say they need a wall, that a wall is beneficial.
00:04:10.200 But but understand that a wall alone doesn't solve the problem.
00:04:14.560 And why is that?
00:04:15.460 Well, there's the old line that if you build a 10 foot wall, someone brings an 11 foot
00:04:19.640 ladder.
00:04:19.960 And what law enforcement on the border tells me is that's true, that people bring ladders,
00:04:24.800 they get over the wall, that they get around the wall, that the wall is not the complete
00:04:29.960 solution.
00:04:31.280 The reason a wall is valuable is what is critical if you're trying to stop illegal immigration
00:04:36.980 is is the time between detection and apprehension.
00:04:40.440 And what a wall does is it slows people down.
00:04:43.480 It takes longer to get over a wall, to get around a wall than if there's no wall.
00:04:48.340 And in particular, a wall is valuable in more urban environments where there's there's not
00:04:54.460 much space between the border and disappearing into a heavy, heavily populated area.
00:04:59.480 So there are parts of rugged West Texas where you've got really tough terrain and and and
00:05:06.180 a wall, frankly, is not that useful in in an area where the terrain is already a natural
00:05:11.400 barrier.
00:05:12.060 But if you're dealing with a portion of the border that is by a heavily populated area
00:05:17.480 and an illegal immigrant is able to cross and suddenly disappear into the city, that's
00:05:22.840 where a wall is really valuable.
00:05:24.300 But even when the wall is built, what you have to have is an administration willing to
00:05:33.280 deport the people they apprehend.
00:05:35.300 And and what Joe Biden is not willing to do is to end catch and release.
00:05:40.580 And as long as catch and release remains the policy, this crisis will continue to get worse
00:05:47.640 and worse and worse.
00:05:49.100 And I think the purpose of this announcement is that they want a photo op of building a few
00:05:54.620 feet of wall so that it can assuage some of the blue state governors and blue state mayors
00:06:01.000 that are getting worked up.
00:06:02.200 But it will not work at all to reduce illegal immigration because Joe Biden intends to keep
00:06:10.120 releasing the illegals who come.

00:07:52.680 And for many people to understand the border issue, they'll understand that.
00:07:55.520 But there's a lot of people that are listening, Senator, that may not understand the policy.
00:07:59.380 There was a different policy under the Trump administration when it come to catch and release.
00:08:02.800 And immediately the Biden administration said, we're not doing that anymore.
00:08:06.740 Can you explain why that loophole, how dangerous it is, and also how many people it's allowed to come to this country?
00:08:15.320 We're talking about millions because of a simple policy decision.
00:08:17.940 And if he changed that, that would do more than building 20 miles of a wall, correct?

00:08:29.080 You and I did a podcast a number of months ago down on the southern border, and we interviewed Brandon Judd.
00:08:35.400 Brandon Judd is the head of the National Border Patrol Union.
00:08:38.180 He's a good friend.
00:08:39.160 And that's the union of all the border patrol agents, the men and women risking their lives to secure the border.
00:08:44.440 And we sat down.
00:08:45.340 We were down to the Rio Grande Valley with Brandon, and we sat down with him and interviewed him by the border.
00:08:50.940 And one of the things Brandon said that a lot of people don't realize, but it was striking, he said to secure the border, to fix this problem, he said, we don't need any more money.
00:08:59.260 He said, we don't even need more agents, although more agents would help.
00:09:03.700 He said, that's not really what we need to secure the border.
00:09:07.080 He said, what we need is policy, a change in policy, a change in executive policy.
00:09:14.440 And it comes down to one central question.
00:09:17.760 When you apprehend an illegal immigrant, what do you do with that illegal immigrant?
00:09:23.540 Now, under Donald Trump, when they apprehended someone, they put him on a plane, and they flew him back to where he came from.
00:09:30.800 They deported him.
00:09:32.580 That was critical.
00:09:33.940 And then on top of that, and I'll explain this in a minute, was the Remain in Mexico agreement.
00:09:38.780 And that together, those two together, produced the lowest rate of illegal immigration in 45 years.
00:09:46.200 Biden, literally his first week in office, he reversed that.
00:09:49.500 So now, when they catch someone, they'll give him a court date, typically several years in the future.
00:09:56.200 And then they'll ask him, where do you want to go in the meantime?
00:09:58.920 And they'll say, I want to go to New York City.
00:10:00.240 I want to go to Chicago.
00:10:01.020 I want to go to Dallas.
00:10:02.200 I want to go to L.A.
00:10:04.320 And the Biden administration will put him on a plane or put him on a bus and send them to whatever city they're in.

00:10:13.620 You told me you were sitting next to an illegal immigrant who was flying on the plane to New York with you.

00:10:26.420 He had all of his papers in a see-through, you know, kind of sheer plastic, you know, envelope.
00:10:34.040 And he had his Red Cross blanket that was with him.
00:10:36.720 He had his little NATSAC that the U.S. government gave him.
00:10:39.740 He had his cell phone.
00:10:41.820 And I speak very little Spanish.
00:10:45.540 But I was able to communicate enough.
00:10:46.840 I said, where are you headed?
00:10:47.380 He goes, I've come to America, and they're now letting me go to New York City.
00:10:53.640 And I said, oh, across the border.
00:10:55.460 And he said, yes.
00:10:56.740 And he was very excited.
00:10:57.700 You and I, as taxpayers, paid for that airline ticket.
00:11:00.360 We paid for all the stuff that he had with him that was, you know, new.
00:11:03.940 And I'm assuming there's a good chance that cell phone he had was probably issued by the U.S. government as well because they've been doing that.
00:11:09.740 But he wasn't the only one on that plane.
00:11:11.100 I mean, that was the first time.
00:11:11.860 There's part of me saying, yay.
00:11:13.440 I'm glad that he's going to New York City and not staying in Texas because that's what's going to end up fixing this problem is what we're seeing with the – they call it, you know, anarchy and chaos.
00:11:23.360 And they can't handle the illegal immigrants.
00:11:24.680 But that was the first time I'd ever witnessed it sitting there knowing, wow, I just paid for this guy just broke into our country to go to wherever he wanted to go.
00:11:32.360 And I witnessed it firsthand.
00:11:33.440 It was shocking to me when you're sitting next to it.
00:11:36.000 So – and I understand that, and I've seen that many times, particularly when you've got flights coming out of South Texas.
00:11:43.660 You can see half the flight or more filled with illegal aliens that the Biden administration is paying to fly all over the country.
00:11:51.080 And that's happening day in, day out.
00:11:53.440 By the way, that's not Greg Abbott or, as Eric Adams calls him, that madman in Texas bussing them to New York.
00:12:00.260 That's Joe Biden flying them to New York, and that's happening day after day after day.
00:12:06.140 But, you know, I will say if you didn't listen to the podcast we did with Brandon Judd, you ought to go back and listen to it because he explains that it is the policy of catch and release that produces this problem.
00:12:19.740 And Joe Biden does not intend to change, catch and release.
00:12:23.500 And I mentioned Remain in Mexico.
00:12:25.060 So Remain in Mexico was an agreement the Trump administration negotiated with Mexico that said that when people crossed illegally into Mexico, and many of them were coming from South America or Central America, that they would remain in Mexico, that they'd stay in Mexico while their U.S. asylum case was proceeding.
00:12:44.520 And that worked incredibly well.
00:12:47.260 That's what produced the lowest rate of illegal immigration in 45 years.
00:12:52.080 Now, one thing you said, Ben, that I think is probably not the case, you said you thought that cell phone likely was given to them by the federal government.
00:13:00.360 That probably is not the case because, in my experience, virtually 100 percent of the illegal aliens crossing the border have their own cell phone with them.
00:13:08.600 It's one of the few property items they carry.
00:13:12.140 And it's why catch and release is so pernicious, because what happens is they get here, they turn themselves in, they go look for a Border Patrol agent, they turn themselves in.
00:13:22.940 The Border Patrol agent asks, OK, where do you want to go?
00:13:25.900 They say, I want to go to New York City.
00:13:27.360 They say, great.
00:13:28.000 They start processing them.
00:13:29.220 And then what happens is the illegal immigrant, they pick up their cell phone and they call their friends, they call their family, they call their buddies and say, hey, guess what?
00:13:37.240 If you come here, you get to stay.
00:13:39.900 And by the way, when they let them go, the vast majority of these people are never seen again.
00:13:44.380 The court date is a complete fiction.
00:13:46.200 That is the source of the problem.
00:13:51.140 And Biden, the same week he halted the border wall, the same week he reinstated catch and release, that same week he pulled out of Remain in Mexico.
00:14:00.700 That caused this crisis.
00:14:03.120 So explain Remain in Mexico, the same week he pulled out, because people hear that.
00:14:08.080 What did that actually do?
00:14:09.520 What did it mean?
00:14:10.060 So what it meant is that asylum cases would proceed, but they'd stay in Mexico.
00:14:17.540 They would not be allowed to come to America.
00:14:21.480 They would stay in that camps in Mexico just south of our southern border where they'd stay while the asylum case proceeded.
00:14:29.820 But it meant they didn't get let go in America.
00:14:31.860 The critical thing about Remain in Mexico is they were not released in America.
00:14:37.620 And so you didn't have the magnet.
00:14:40.560 You didn't have the pull effect.
00:14:42.320 And so they'd call home and they'd say, hey, don't come.
00:14:45.980 I thought I'd get to America.
00:14:47.140 I got here.

00:14:49.040 And I'm stuck in Mexico, damn it.

00:14:58.900 And by the way, Trump leaned vigorously on the president of Mexico, on AMLO, to force him to agree to remain in Mexico.

00:15:15.180 You know, the southern border of Mexico is much, much smaller.
00:15:18.960 It's just a few hundred miles as compared to our southern border that's 2,000 miles.
00:15:23.640 And it's just obviously Mexico narrows as it goes into Central America.
00:15:29.160 The southern border of Mexico is much easier to secure than our southern border because it's much smaller.

00:15:37.040 The same AMLO that Trump, by standing strong, was able to get to agree to remain in Mexico.
00:15:42.880 When Joe Biden was president, let's go back to January of this year, January of 2023, where Joe Biden did a press conference with AMLO.
00:15:53.080 And AMLO praised him for building, being the first president in recent history to build not even a single meter of border wall.

00:16:48.280 And what he said, which we just played, and you could hear him in the Spanish in the background and then the female translator,

00:16:56.280 And what he said is, you are the first president of the United States in a very long time that has not built even one meter of wall.

00:17:10.540 And he goes on to say, and we thank you for that, sir.

00:17:21.620 And this entire time, AMLO is praising Biden for being the first guy in a long time not to build wall,

00:17:35.520 Biden is sitting there grinning like some silly kid while he's allowing an invasion of our country.

00:18:00.640 The Biden administration has been purposely cutting barbed wire at the border to facilitate more illegal aliens into the United States of America.

00:18:19.060 And now at Eagle Pass in Texas, our drone is up in the air again.
00:18:24.120 And this picture has not gotten better.

00:18:28.960 The state of Texas has put that barbed wire, the concertina wire down to block migrants or to dissuade them from crossing the Rio Grande River.

00:18:39.040 But every time you see this, you get a backup on the banks of that river and the White House puts a phone call in the Border Patrol and they cut that wire.
00:18:47.560 And then you see the line move.

00:18:50.440 It's a battle between the leadership of Texas and the White House and the people in Texas largely have to deal with it.
00:18:56.580 You know, 100,000 in New York is just, you know, a very small number compared to what they've had to deal with in Texas.
00:19:02.360 So it is an astonishingly situation, plus you have all these children who have been brought here by human traffickers and the cartel basically in charge of the operation.

00:19:12.740 And the federal government repeatedly challenges the state of Texas when they try and impede the crossing or the passing of those into that from the drone in Eagle Pass, Texas.

00:19:26.660 They're laughing at the idea that now you have a president saying got to build this wall, but we're cutting down the barbed wire to let people in.

00:19:40.780 But then we bring an announcement saying we're going to secure 20 miles of the border and the rest of it, I guess, are going to keep cutting down barbed wire.
00:19:47.340 This is literally the definition of total insanity, or they're just straight up lying to the American people, as you referenced earlier, to placate to these liberal mayors in places like New York that are freaking out.

00:20:49.620 Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and Alejandro Mayorkas, they want to accelerate illegal immigration.

00:20:59.740 He views doing his job well as getting more efficient, getting faster in processing illegal immigrants so that they shrink the time and make it even quicker and quicker and quicker to move illegal immigrants into the interior.

00:28:11.880 And Biden, to go back, tweeted in September of last year, quote, Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are a threat to the very soul of this country.

00:28:24.200 Christopher, FBI director, Christopher Wray, in sworn testimony said it's not just Trump supporters early this year.
00:28:30.760 He said House Republicans say the FBI document that they've obtained proved that several field offices contributed to a memo that targeted traditional Catholics.
00:28:39.020 We talked about this extensively on this show as potential terrorists and tried to turn parishioners on their fellow church goers.
00:28:49.160 So so if you just look at the last year, parents who show up at school board meetings are to be labeled domestic terrorists.

00:29:03.920 And now we are being told that heading into the 2024 election, that if you are a Donald Trump follower supporter, that you may be now monitored or targeted by the FBI.

00:29:48.140 It's not a broader problem now that they've admitted that it was multiple offices that participated in that.

00:30:27.960 And they claim that that if you are a MAGA Republican is defined as a Republican who voted for Donald Trump.
00:30:35.560 So, you know, 75 to 80 million Americans are defined, according to to this White House, as potential terrorists, as threats to democracy.
00:30:47.900 And this is this is how Democrats have become radicalized.
00:30:51.240 They now say, if you dare vote against Democrats, you are a threat to democracy.
00:30:57.780 Just understand, every time Democrats use the word democracy, what they mean is me.

00:31:42.320 Senator, I also think we should bring up in the Newsweek article, it says that if you voted for Donald Trump, the government will track you.

00:31:51.540 And in June of this year, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security filed a joint report with Congress.
00:32:01.740 And what they say in that joint report is they say, quote, threats from domestic violent extremists have increased in the last two years, and any further increases in threats likely will correspond to potential flashpoints, such as high-profile elections and campaigns or contentious current events.
00:32:25.520 So they're saying terrorists are associated with high-profile elections, and just to make sure there's no ambiguity that they're not talking about Antifa, they're not talking about left-wing terrorists, they are focused on Republicans.
00:32:40.300 Here's what the report concludes, quote,
00:32:44.720 socio-political developments, such as narratives of fraud in the recent general election, conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and conspiracy theories promoting violence, will almost certainly spur some domestic terrorists to try to engage in violence.

00:36:27.540 I mean, you remember back in January we had a rollercoaster ride of over a dozen different ballots before Kevin McCarthy was elected speaker, and it was very narrow.

00:36:41.080 At this point, there are several contenders that are talking about running.

00:36:47.440 One is Steve Scalise.
00:36:48.660 Steve Scalise is the majority leader, was Kevin McCarthy's number two.

00:37:00.780 And so Steve is running as the candidate that can unify both the moderates in the Republican conference and also some of the conservatives.

00:37:19.900 He is a prominent and well-known conservative.
00:37:23.480 The media is deeply skeptical of Jim Jordan, and they say he's too conservative to get elected.

00:37:31.680 There is also discussion that Kevin Hearn, who is a Republican from Oklahoma, that he may run.

00:38:32.680 It's not clear that they will, but they might.
00:38:35.780 And so at this point, I don't know what will happen.
00:38:38.540 My intention is to stay out of it and to leave leadership elections to House Republicans.
00:38:45.380 But the answer as to who comes out of it is going to matter quite a bit.
00:38:49.560 And so we will certainly watch with interest and continue to provide the best analysis we can.
00:38:56.700 One of the things I've heard over the last 24, 48 hours, Senator, is there are people that love Jim Jordan,
00:39:02.360 but they don't want to lose him on this investigation of Hunter Biden.
00:39:06.040 And they're afraid that if he became the speak expertise, is that a something that should be a concern?
00:39:12.340 Or could he still continue to do both or have more power as a speaker?
00:39:16.540 Well, look, there's no doubt that the speaker is by far the most powerful player in the House.
00:39:21.700 And the speaker of the House has enormous institutional authority.
00:39:26.080 The questions of what is the best role for each of the Republicans in the House are going to be questions that the House members are going to have to decide.
00:39:34.600 And I'm sure if that's a question being asked about Jim Jordan, I imagine Jim will be answering that question to his colleagues.
00:39:41.040 And I expect a whole lot of conversations on on between all the House Republicans throughout this weekend and throughout next week.
00:39:50.580 And my guess is we'll see multiple ballots and we'll see what ultimately comes out.
