00:00:00.000 This is an iHeart Podcast.
00:00:02.540 Guaranteed human.
00:00:05.660 Welcome, it is Verdict with Ted Cruz,
00:00:07.880 The Weekend Review, Ben Ferguson with you,
00:00:10.100 and we had some very big stories
00:00:11.780 that you may have missed that we talked about this week.
00:00:14.280 First up, USAID, the abuse that has been found out
00:00:19.220 of our government tax dollars
00:00:20.920 going to corrupt organizations, even to terrorists,
00:00:25.120 is now all being exposed because of Elon Musk and Doge.
00:00:29.360 So what have we found out?
00:00:31.140 We'll give you the list in just a moment.
00:00:33.540 Also, what are the needs of Israel?
00:00:36.820 Well, Benjamin Netanyahu sat down with Senator Ted Cruz
00:00:39.920 for about two hours talking about exactly what's happening
00:00:43.920 in Israel and what they need from us.
00:00:46.880 We'll break all that down for you as well.
00:00:49.240 And finally, it's going to be a new day at the FBI
00:00:52.580 if Kash Patel can get the votes needed this week.
00:00:55.740 So what did he have to say to Senator Cruz?
00:00:58.840 We have that for you.
00:01:00.260 It is The Weekend Review, and it starts right now.
00:01:03.720 People that listen to the show and conservatives out there
00:01:06.420 said, okay, let's let everybody know
00:01:08.640 where your tax dollars is going
00:01:10.060 after Elon Musk and Doge, yet again, blowing the whistle.
00:01:14.920 They're going to, I mean, they got to be exhausted
00:01:16.580 because they're finding so much waste, fraud,
00:01:19.680 and abuse in our government.
00:01:22.220 And a perfect example of this is USAID
00:01:25.640 and some of the abuse that they found.
00:01:28.500 Walk us through it.
00:01:29.800 Well, I got to say, Elon Musk is doing a fantastic job.
00:01:32.860 He is working around the clock at Doge
00:01:35.460 and really focused on reining in government spending
00:01:39.100 and reining in the absolute abuse,
00:01:41.220 the abuse that you would never see in a private company,
00:01:43.940 but yet in government is commonplace
00:01:47.660 and is a result of politicians funding
00:01:51.460 their own political hobby horse,
00:01:53.720 their own political pet project.
00:01:55.840 And so I got to say, one of the areas
00:01:58.020 that Doge and the new White House has done
00:02:00.680 is freeze funding at USAID.
00:02:04.240 And Democrats in the media
00:02:05.640 have been losing their minds over this,
00:02:07.620 have been lighting their hair on fire.
00:02:09.780 In fact, a bunch of Democrats went to the USAID offices
00:02:13.020 to storm the offices this week,
00:02:15.060 which was really pretty ridiculous.
00:02:17.380 But they're really, they're very, very upset about it.
00:02:20.260 They're not upset, by the way,
00:02:21.480 about the abuse of the money and the fraud at all.
00:02:23.620 They're just upset that they've lost their power, right?
00:02:26.340 Well, they're upset that the abuse is stopping.
00:02:30.120 But, you know, when reporters have asked me about it,
00:02:32.580 I've said, listen,
00:02:33.880 the president got a mandate from the American people
00:02:37.360 and part of the mandate is to stop
00:02:38.880 the out-of-control spending and debt.
00:02:40.460 And USAID engages in all sorts of abuse.
00:02:43.360 Let me give you some of the examples.
00:02:45.940 USAID spent $1.5 million
00:02:48.520 for advancing DEI in Serbia's workplaces.
00:02:53.860 They spent $2 million
00:02:56.060 for sex changes in Guatemala.
00:03:00.200 They spent $6 million
00:03:01.760 for tourism in Egypt.
00:03:04.800 They paid for, quote,
00:03:07.140 hundreds of thousands of meals
00:03:09.140 that went to Al-Qaeda-affiliated fighters
00:03:12.780 in Syria.
00:03:14.360 They gave funding for the production of opium,
00:03:19.220 the primary ingredient in heroin,
00:03:21.460 in Afghanistan,
00:03:23.000 which benefited the Taliban.
00:03:25.600 Yeah.
00:03:26.000 They spent $1 million
00:03:28.560 to help disabled people in Tajikistan
00:03:32.500 become, quote,
00:03:34.800 climate leaders.
00:03:36.540 They spent $1 million
00:03:38.160 for Hamas-linked charity.
00:03:41.880 And they spent $15 million
00:03:44.420 for contraceptives and condoms
00:03:47.520 in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
00:03:50.840 This is all nonsense.
00:03:53.260 This is a waste.
00:03:54.680 And there's a reason Elon Musk is going after it.
00:03:56.980 There's a reason President Trump is going after it.
00:03:59.100 And there's a reason Democrats in the press
00:04:01.020 are horrified that this gravy train is stopping.
00:04:05.480 It is a gravy train,
00:04:07.140 and it's a very, very big one
00:04:08.860 that's costing taxpayers massive amounts of money.
00:04:11.440 Elon Musk said early on
00:04:13.160 that he thought there was probably
00:04:14.840 like 10% waste in our government.
00:04:17.100 He's now changing those numbers.
00:04:19.180 I want to get your reaction.
00:04:20.200 He's saying it could be well above 20%.
00:04:22.880 Yeah, there's massive waste,
00:04:25.700 and it is by design.
00:04:26.860 Understand, it's not just that they
00:04:29.000 picked things out of a hat.
00:04:30.620 These are all ideological.
00:04:32.300 This is the agenda of the radical left.
00:04:34.820 They're funding the agenda of the radical left,
00:04:37.500 but it shouldn't be the taxpayers
00:04:38.700 paying for this nonsense.
00:04:40.700 And let me give you an example
00:04:42.220 of one of the ones that I found,
00:04:43.800 frankly, funniest.
00:04:45.480 AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,
00:04:47.800 went off on Elon Musk this week.
00:04:51.160 And listen to what she says.
00:04:54.840 Her argument is that Elon Musk is a dummy.
00:04:58.200 Give a listen.
00:04:59.440 This dude is probably
00:05:01.580 one of the most unintelligent billionaires
00:05:04.100 I have ever met or seen,
00:05:06.980 or witnessed,
00:05:08.320 which, you know,
00:05:10.880 you can probably even glean that
00:05:12.680 from watching these people on TV.
00:05:14.800 Anyways, all of that is to say
00:05:17.020 is that they don't do their homework.
00:05:19.660 Clearly, like,
00:05:21.980 they're putting 19-year-olds
00:05:23.360 in at the Treasury.
00:05:24.540 This dude is not smart.
00:05:27.000 And the danger in not,
00:05:30.580 in the lack of intelligence
00:05:32.160 and the lack of expertise
00:05:33.760 that Elon has,
00:05:36.800 I mean,
00:05:37.120 this guy is one of the most
00:05:38.640 morally vacant,
00:05:40.500 but also
00:05:41.460 just
00:05:43.140 least knowledgeable
00:05:45.520 about these systems
00:05:46.980 that we really know of.
00:05:50.560 But the point is,
00:05:52.140 is that
00:05:52.680 what that means
00:05:53.880 is that they're going to hit a button
00:05:56.060 inevitably.
00:05:58.760 They're going to hit a button
00:06:00.200 and things can go sideways.
00:06:02.860 I mean,
00:06:04.020 this is one of those moments
00:06:05.440 where you actually get to watch
00:06:07.260 the you-know-what,
00:06:09.420 the sausage being made
00:06:10.460 in her brain.
00:06:11.320 She's making it up
00:06:12.800 and pausing as she goes
00:06:14.540 to try to figure out a way
00:06:15.660 to hit a guy
00:06:16.420 that's having massive success
00:06:18.040 at saving taxpayers' dollars.
00:06:20.020 Look,
00:06:20.460 I got to say,
00:06:21.600 I laughed out loud
00:06:23.620 when I listened to that
00:06:24.860 and watched that.
00:06:27.100 It should be
00:06:28.200 a Saturday Night Live skit.
00:06:29.520 Of course,
00:06:29.860 Saturday Night Live
00:06:30.420 wouldn't actually make fun of liberals,
00:06:31.820 so they wouldn't show it.
00:06:33.420 But,
00:06:34.100 listen,
00:06:34.360 you can criticize Elon Musk
00:06:36.260 on all sorts of fronts,
00:06:38.140 but the one front
00:06:38.880 you can't criticize him on
00:06:40.280 is being a dummy.
00:06:42.500 I've spent a ton of time
00:06:43.740 with Elon.
00:06:44.300 Listen,
00:06:44.600 I've been blessed, Ben.
00:06:46.480 I have known
00:06:47.420 a lot of brilliant people.
00:06:49.180 I've known
00:06:49.820 Antonin Scalia
00:06:50.860 and Clarence Thomas
00:06:52.580 and Chief Justice
00:06:53.900 William Rehnquist.
00:06:55.280 I have known
00:06:56.400 brilliant,
00:06:57.500 brilliant scientists
00:06:58.500 and world leaders.
00:07:00.500 And I believe
00:07:01.540 Elon Musk,
00:07:02.180 this is without exaggeration,
00:07:04.080 is the most brilliant man
00:07:05.680 I've ever met.
00:07:06.220 I've spent a lot of time
00:07:07.280 with Elon.
00:07:08.560 If you think about
00:07:09.820 the distribution
00:07:10.420 of intelligence,
00:07:12.220 you assume roughly
00:07:13.160 8 billion people
00:07:14.080 on planet Earth.
00:07:15.040 Intelligence is distributed
00:07:16.140 along a bell curve.
00:07:17.680 Someone is at the bleeding edge
00:07:19.540 of that bell curve,
00:07:20.620 and I think Elon Musk
00:07:21.720 is that person.
00:07:23.060 And,
00:07:23.200 I mean,
00:07:23.680 I've sat with him
00:07:24.480 for two,
00:07:24.980 three,
00:07:25.360 three and a half hours
00:07:26.180 talking with him,
00:07:26.860 and it's fascinating
00:07:28.040 watching his brain work
00:07:29.980 because the guy,
00:07:31.180 it's not even
00:07:32.120 that he thinks
00:07:32.620 outside the box,
00:07:33.580 he doesn't know
00:07:34.500 there is a box.
00:07:36.580 And so,
00:07:37.420 listening to AOC
00:07:38.580 say he's unintelligent,
00:07:41.080 I gotta say,
00:07:42.380 it reminded me
00:07:43.420 of a scene
00:07:44.060 from my favorite movie.
00:07:45.940 Oh,
00:07:46.360 I know where we're going
00:07:47.160 with this one.
00:07:48.120 And so,
00:07:48.740 give a listen
00:07:49.400 to what AOC
00:07:51.760 was saying,
00:07:52.840 and she was really,
00:07:53.560 she was channeling
00:07:54.560 Vecini.
00:07:55.080 Give a listen.
00:07:56.500 You're that smart.
00:07:57.620 Let me put it this way.
00:07:58.600 Have you ever heard
00:07:59.080 of Plato,
00:08:00.040 Aristotle,
00:08:01.180 Socrates?
00:08:02.260 Yes.
00:08:03.080 Morons.
00:08:04.080 Really?
00:08:07.500 So that's AOC.
00:08:09.900 Plato,
00:08:10.940 Aristotle,
00:08:12.040 Socrates,
00:08:13.140 Elon Musk.
00:08:15.280 Morons.
00:08:16.660 AOC.
00:08:17.980 She knows what's right.
00:08:19.640 Now,
00:08:20.140 if you want to hear
00:08:20.760 the rest of this conversation,
00:08:22.520 you can go back
00:08:23.280 and listen to the full podcast
00:08:24.680 from earlier this week.
00:08:26.740 Canadian women
00:08:27.620 are looking for more.
00:08:29.020 More out of themselves,
00:08:30.020 their businesses,
00:08:30.940 their elected leaders,
00:08:31.920 and the world around them.
00:08:33.140 And that's why we're thrilled
00:08:34.080 to introduce
00:08:34.740 the Honest Talk podcast.
00:08:36.780 I'm Jennifer Stewart.
00:08:38.040 And I'm Catherine Clark.
00:08:39.260 And in this podcast,
00:08:40.420 we interview Canada's
00:08:41.380 most inspiring women.
00:08:43.020 Entrepreneurs,
00:08:43.700 artists,
00:08:44.380 athletes,
00:08:44.980 politicians,
00:08:45.700 and newsmakers,
00:08:46.580 all at different stages
00:08:47.620 of their journey.
00:08:48.780 So,
00:08:49.120 if you're looking to connect,
00:08:50.580 then we hope you'll join us.
00:08:51.740 Listen to the Honest Talk podcast
00:08:53.340 on iHeartRadio
00:08:54.380 or wherever you listen
00:08:55.340 to your podcasts.
00:08:57.760 Now,
00:08:58.420 on to story number two.
00:09:00.200 Let's talk about
00:09:01.080 the humanitarian side of this
00:09:02.700 and the real needs
00:09:04.780 of the people in Israel.
00:09:07.200 What did Bibi say
00:09:08.660 from that standpoint?
00:09:09.700 Because there is,
00:09:10.660 obviously,
00:09:11.100 a great humanitarian need.
00:09:12.500 We're talking about
00:09:13.120 all this money with dodes
00:09:14.400 that we're finding
00:09:14.980 that we're giving
00:09:15.520 to all these people,
00:09:16.660 many of them
00:09:17.180 that it's just waste
00:09:18.160 and fraud and abuse
00:09:19.300 and absurd things
00:09:20.760 like transgendered plays
00:09:22.060 in certain countries.
00:09:23.720 You know,
00:09:24.400 as an American,
00:09:25.480 I don't mind
00:09:26.340 helping our allies
00:09:27.380 in times of need.
00:09:28.900 Israel is a great example
00:09:29.960 of this.
00:09:30.660 There is so much money,
00:09:31.880 though,
00:09:32.020 that's being used
00:09:32.760 in such fraudulent ways
00:09:34.240 that I do think
00:09:35.260 there's a hesitancy now
00:09:36.180 to just say,
00:09:36.680 okay,
00:09:37.100 what do you need?
00:09:37.840 Because it seems like
00:09:39.080 everyone was taking from us
00:09:40.800 and abusing it.
00:09:42.580 I think Israel
00:09:43.520 is very different
00:09:44.580 and that's why
00:09:45.160 I want to bring this up.
00:09:45.920 But what are the needs?
00:09:47.160 So let me say,
00:09:49.300 do you know what
00:09:50.120 the amount of economic aid
00:09:52.200 and assistance is
00:09:53.140 that we give to Israel?
00:09:54.760 How much?
00:09:56.160 Zero dollars and zero cents.
00:09:58.440 Wow.
00:09:58.920 We do not provide
00:10:00.020 economic aid to Israel.
00:10:02.080 Israel's not asking us
00:10:03.240 for money
00:10:03.740 to feed its citizens.
00:10:05.880 Israel's not asking
00:10:06.680 for money
00:10:07.200 to provide housing
00:10:08.600 or clothe its citizens.
00:10:09.920 Israel's not asking
00:10:10.700 for money for relief.
00:10:12.320 The only assistance
00:10:14.940 the United States
00:10:15.840 provides to Israel
00:10:16.960 is military aid.
00:10:19.400 Each year we provide
00:10:20.460 roughly three billion dollars
00:10:22.100 in military assistance.
00:10:23.420 But that's,
00:10:24.120 we do no economic assistance.
00:10:26.280 We're not paying welfare.
00:10:28.820 We are providing
00:10:30.200 military assistance.
00:10:31.340 And do you know
00:10:31.720 why we do that?
00:10:33.320 Why?
00:10:33.880 This is something
00:10:34.620 critically important
00:10:35.540 to understand.
00:10:36.300 We provide military assistance
00:10:37.920 to Israel
00:10:38.880 because it is good
00:10:40.620 for America.
00:10:42.380 Israel,
00:10:43.060 think about this
00:10:43.980 for a second.
00:10:44.460 everyone who hates
00:10:46.680 Israel
00:10:47.320 hates America.
00:10:49.960 Bingo.
00:10:50.420 And by the way,
00:10:51.540 those who hate Jews
00:10:52.680 hate Christians.
00:10:53.860 And everyone
00:10:55.340 who Israel
00:10:56.280 is fighting against,
00:10:57.960 they're doing so
00:10:59.800 to protect Israel,
00:11:01.420 of course.
00:11:02.520 Well, there's a reason
00:11:03.060 why it's almost simultaneous.
00:11:04.660 You hear death
00:11:05.200 to Israel chants
00:11:06.020 and death to America chants.
00:11:07.200 A lot of times
00:11:07.720 they're intertwined.
00:11:09.260 The Ayatollah
00:11:10.180 refers to Israel
00:11:11.420 as the little Satan
00:11:13.300 and America
00:11:14.920 as the great Satan.
00:11:17.260 And so, listen,
00:11:17.940 one of the things
00:11:18.420 I said to Bibi,
00:11:19.080 and I've said this
00:11:19.580 to him many times,
00:11:20.320 I said,
00:11:20.640 thank you.
00:11:21.460 Thank you for killing
00:11:22.920 terrorists,
00:11:24.360 for taking out Hamas,
00:11:25.660 for taking out Hezbollah.
00:11:27.080 These are lunatics
00:11:28.060 that want to murder Israelis
00:11:29.840 and they want to murder Americans.
00:11:31.220 And they have.
00:11:32.420 Look,
00:11:33.080 October 7th
00:11:33.900 was a horrific terrorist
00:11:35.000 attack against Israel,
00:11:36.240 but it was also
00:11:37.060 a horrific terrorist attack
00:11:38.380 against America.
00:11:39.820 Many Americans were killed.
00:11:41.060 Many Americans
00:11:41.500 were taken hostage.
00:11:43.100 And so,
00:11:43.800 we provide military aid
00:11:45.700 to Israel
00:11:46.260 because it keeps
00:11:47.000 America safer.
00:11:48.320 And it also
00:11:49.280 is incredibly
00:11:51.780 frugal
00:11:53.980 as a monetary matter
00:11:55.340 because the benefits
00:11:56.320 we get
00:11:57.000 from Israeli intelligence,
00:11:59.600 the Mossad
00:12:00.320 is one of the most
00:12:02.520 effective
00:12:03.180 and potent
00:12:03.740 intelligence networks
00:12:04.820 in the world.
00:12:06.160 And the Mossad
00:12:07.040 has incredible intelligence
00:12:08.360 on Hezbollah
00:12:09.360 and Hamas
00:12:09.980 on Iran
00:12:10.560 on
00:12:11.380 Al-Qaeda
00:12:12.980 and ISIS
00:12:13.480 and all
00:12:14.400 enemies of Israel
00:12:16.260 but also enemies
00:12:17.140 of America.
00:12:17.980 And historically,
00:12:18.500 they have shared
00:12:19.300 that intelligence
00:12:20.000 with us.
00:12:20.640 If we tried
00:12:22.020 to recreate
00:12:22.880 the benefits
00:12:24.080 we get
00:12:24.800 from Israeli intelligence
00:12:26.320 and their military,
00:12:27.240 it wouldn't cost us
00:12:29.300 three billion dollars
00:12:30.340 a year.
00:12:30.740 It would cost us
00:12:31.580 tens of billions
00:12:32.840 of dollars a year.
00:12:33.880 And so we make
00:12:35.300 that investment
00:12:36.140 because it keeps
00:12:37.080 America safe
00:12:38.400 and they spend
00:12:40.680 that investment
00:12:41.480 to be very clear
00:12:42.620 on taking out
00:12:44.260 the people
00:12:44.780 who want to kill
00:12:45.580 Americans.
00:12:46.320 When you look
00:12:47.220 at the money
00:12:47.720 and you look
00:12:48.360 at what's happening
00:12:49.140 and you look
00:12:50.540 at the meeting
00:12:51.380 today that you had
00:12:52.480 and the needs
00:12:53.260 that are there,
00:12:54.340 I think there's
00:12:54.960 a couple of just
00:12:55.900 overall themes.
00:12:57.320 One,
00:12:58.320 Israel now knows
00:13:00.140 that America
00:13:00.900 does in fact
00:13:02.060 have their back.
00:13:03.300 Two,
00:13:04.120 they can start
00:13:04.700 sharing intelligence
00:13:05.840 and talk about
00:13:07.260 honest plans
00:13:08.020 to protect Israel
00:13:08.940 and America
00:13:09.460 because they can
00:13:10.140 trust this administration.
00:13:12.040 And that seems
00:13:12.580 to be maybe
00:13:13.020 the most valuable
00:13:14.020 part of this.
00:13:15.120 Three,
00:13:15.720 we both have
00:13:16.480 a true,
00:13:18.120 genuine agreement
00:13:19.200 in our foreign policy
00:13:20.600 that we must stop
00:13:22.360 Iran from gaining
00:13:23.740 that nuclear weapon.
00:13:25.720 And that also means
00:13:26.860 now you've got
00:13:27.800 to figure out
00:13:28.300 how you're going
00:13:28.680 to stop it
00:13:29.180 from happening
00:13:29.880 and that could
00:13:31.100 be using
00:13:32.040 military prowess
00:13:33.500 to do it.
00:13:34.140 Which brings me
00:13:34.820 to my final question
00:13:35.880 to you.
00:13:37.060 Donald Trump's a guy
00:13:38.020 that has been
00:13:38.500 very proud about
00:13:39.340 saying I haven't
00:13:39.940 started any wars.
00:13:42.880 I get us out
00:13:43.840 of wars
00:13:44.400 and I try
00:13:45.380 to end them.
00:13:46.680 Would you look
00:13:47.340 at this as a war
00:13:48.260 or more of a
00:13:49.140 just a straight up
00:13:49.940 attack on a nuclear
00:13:51.000 weapon site?
00:13:52.040 How should Americans
00:13:53.020 look at this?
00:13:54.420 Well, listen,
00:13:54.940 it's important
00:13:55.720 to understand
00:13:56.360 President Trump
00:13:57.540 is right.
00:13:57.960 He's not started
00:13:58.740 any wars.
00:13:59.880 We did not have
00:14:01.060 and in fact
00:14:01.500 he ended wars.
00:14:02.400 He inherited
00:14:02.940 the war with ISIS
00:14:05.520 from Barack Obama.
00:14:07.380 ISIS had a caliphate,
00:14:09.320 had territory
00:14:10.140 about the size
00:14:10.860 of the state
00:14:11.260 of Indiana
00:14:11.820 and Trump
00:14:13.040 within months
00:14:13.780 defeated ISIS
00:14:14.620 altogether
00:14:15.140 and ended that war
00:14:16.400 because they were
00:14:16.880 defeated
00:14:17.200 and conquered
00:14:17.720 the caliphate.
00:14:19.420 There are some
00:14:20.600 who try to say
00:14:21.700 that America first
00:14:23.440 foreign policy
00:14:24.180 is isolationist,
00:14:25.100 is just withdrawing
00:14:25.980 from the world
00:14:26.520 and not engaging
00:14:27.280 with our enemies.
00:14:29.040 That has not been
00:14:30.380 the foreign policy
00:14:31.260 of Donald Trump.
00:14:32.100 It's worth remembering
00:14:33.000 that when President
00:14:33.900 Trump,
00:14:34.740 in his first term,
00:14:36.840 he gave the order
00:14:39.100 to take out
00:14:40.040 General Soleimani,
00:14:41.300 the Iranian leader
00:14:43.640 responsible for the murder
00:14:45.680 of over 600 American
00:14:47.060 servicemen and women,
00:14:48.080 the Iranian leader
00:14:48.940 who had played
00:14:50.160 a critical part
00:14:51.580 in planning
00:14:52.600 terrorist attacks
00:14:55.160 against the United States
00:14:56.980 and against Israel
00:14:58.140 for years
00:14:59.640 and Soleimani
00:15:00.720 along with Nasrallah
00:15:02.580 were probably
00:15:03.760 the two most important
00:15:05.200 terrorist leaders
00:15:06.000 on the face
00:15:06.680 of the planet
00:15:07.220 and President Trump
00:15:09.160 ordered General Soleimani
00:15:10.480 taken out
00:15:11.200 and Prime Minister Netanyahu
00:15:13.060 ordered Nasrallah
00:15:14.020 taken out
00:15:14.660 and now neither one
00:15:15.800 of them
00:15:16.200 are able
00:15:17.780 to threaten
00:15:18.420 America or Israel.
00:15:20.500 It's incredible.
00:15:21.040 I'm glad that you guys
00:15:22.440 got to have this meeting.
00:15:23.500 I also just am really thankful
00:15:25.380 as you described it
00:15:27.180 that now I think
00:15:28.120 Israel can trust
00:15:29.600 that they have a partner
00:15:30.980 in the U.S.
00:15:31.640 and they're not trying to
00:15:32.760 they're not having to hide
00:15:33.760 from the United States
00:15:34.820 what they're trying
00:15:35.740 to accomplish
00:15:36.320 and we have the same goals.
00:15:38.380 Yes,
00:15:39.000 and by the way
00:15:39.940 another aspect of it
00:15:41.140 so look
00:15:41.940 the efforts
00:15:42.740 to attack Israel
00:15:44.900 you saw them
00:15:47.580 directly through terrorism
00:15:49.020 through October 7th
00:15:50.140 you saw them
00:15:50.740 through Hamas
00:15:51.420 and Hezbollah
00:15:51.960 and to be clear
00:15:54.480 the Biden administration
00:15:56.260 was responsible
00:15:57.260 for a very substantial
00:15:58.560 part of the funding
00:15:59.640 for that October 7th attack
00:16:01.940 but you also saw it
00:16:04.240 through lawfare
00:16:05.000 through using
00:16:06.040 international institutions
00:16:07.860 to go after Israel
00:16:08.940 and one of the most
00:16:09.600 profound examples
00:16:10.600 of that
00:16:11.120 is the International Criminal Court
00:16:13.120 which has indicted
00:16:17.720 Bibi
00:16:18.280 for committing war crimes
00:16:21.060 and that decision
00:16:22.400 is grotesquely false
00:16:24.400 it was an anti-Semitic attack
00:16:26.260 on Israel
00:16:26.920 but it is also
00:16:29.020 a profound threat
00:16:30.260 to America
00:16:31.880 Israel is not a party
00:16:33.300 to the International Criminal Court
00:16:35.580 neither is America
00:16:36.460 and the International Criminal Court
00:16:37.960 there's a real risk
00:16:40.160 of it being used
00:16:41.360 to go after
00:16:43.020 American officials
00:16:44.340 and American soldiers
00:16:45.360 the same enemies
00:16:46.640 of Israel
00:16:47.320 want to use
00:16:48.640 the ICC
00:16:49.340 to accuse
00:16:50.740 American soldiers
00:16:51.760 of committing war crimes
00:16:52.880 when we stand up
00:16:53.720 to terrorists
00:16:54.320 and so
00:16:54.980 you know
00:16:56.140 just
00:16:56.540 a few days ago
00:16:59.060 in Congress
00:16:59.660 we voted on legislation
00:17:01.300 to sanction
00:17:02.660 the International Criminal Court
00:17:04.780 and I'll tell you
00:17:06.020 it was really sad
00:17:06.940 every Democrat
00:17:08.720 in the Senate
00:17:09.420 except one
00:17:10.100 except John Fetterman
00:17:11.060 voted no
00:17:11.560 they all voted
00:17:12.200 against Israel
00:17:12.920 amazing
00:17:14.100 and to be clear
00:17:16.700 is there going to be
00:17:18.120 hell to pay politically
00:17:19.140 you think for this
00:17:19.960 I mean the Democratic Party
00:17:20.940 has become
00:17:21.520 really
00:17:22.480 a lot of their leaders
00:17:23.620 are just straight up
00:17:24.180 anti-Semitic
00:17:25.200 is there going to be
00:17:26.300 hell to pay for that
00:17:27.140 at some point
00:17:27.740 well there hasn't been
00:17:29.480 so far
00:17:30.100 and the Democrats
00:17:30.800 feel that there are
00:17:31.720 no consequences
00:17:32.740 Chuck Schumer
00:17:33.640 was among the leaders
00:17:35.100 who met with Netanyahu
00:17:36.600 and was trying
00:17:37.280 to give excuses
00:17:38.180 for why
00:17:38.940 he and all the other
00:17:40.680 Democrats
00:17:41.220 voted against
00:17:42.560 sanctioning the ICC
00:17:43.960 today
00:17:45.600 President Trump
00:17:46.840 issued sanctions
00:17:47.680 as president
00:17:48.240 and they were
00:17:48.600 very strong sanctions
00:17:49.720 that's one thing
00:17:50.640 Bibi was very happy about
00:17:52.340 is he now had a president
00:17:53.940 that would stand up
00:17:54.820 to the International Criminal Court
00:17:56.600 for going after him
00:17:57.580 look
00:17:57.760 Bibi is not able
00:17:59.040 to travel to much of Europe
00:18:00.420 because they're European nations
00:18:02.520 who have threatened
00:18:03.220 they will arrest Bibi
00:18:04.440 if he steps foot
00:18:05.400 on their soil
00:18:06.140 that is a profound attack
00:18:09.020 on the government
00:18:10.400 of Israel
00:18:10.840 think about it
00:18:11.580 that there are many
00:18:12.160 European countries
00:18:12.920 that he simply won't go to
00:18:14.240 now let me ask
00:18:15.980 a simple question
00:18:16.760 to anyone listening
00:18:17.520 Trump
00:18:18.700 sanctioned the ICC
00:18:20.800 today
00:18:21.200 why didn't Joe Biden
00:18:22.220 the ICC did this
00:18:23.800 under Biden's presidency
00:18:24.880 and the answer is
00:18:25.840 I think the Biden
00:18:27.400 administration
00:18:28.000 wanted the ICC
00:18:29.440 to go after
00:18:30.460 Benjamin Netanyahu
00:18:32.440 and I think we're going
00:18:33.120 to see facts
00:18:33.820 come to light
00:18:35.180 in the weeks
00:18:36.360 and months ahead
00:18:37.280 that show some
00:18:38.080 real complicity
00:18:39.220 of the Biden administration
00:18:40.780 for the lawfare
00:18:42.200 attacking Israel
00:18:43.960 and that really
00:18:44.960 underscores the difference
00:18:46.440 one election can make
00:18:48.800 and thank God
00:18:49.800 we have a president
00:18:50.540 now who will stand up
00:18:51.520 for America
00:18:52.060 and who will stand up
00:18:53.720 and stand alongside Israel
00:18:55.120 as before
00:18:56.280 if you want to hear
00:18:57.100 the rest of this conversation
00:18:58.320 on this topic
00:18:59.440 you can go back
00:19:00.320 and download the podcast
00:19:01.640 from earlier this week
00:19:02.500 to hear the entire thing
00:19:03.780 Canadian women
00:19:05.480 are looking for more
00:19:06.540 more out of themselves
00:19:07.620 their businesses
00:19:08.460 their elected leaders
00:19:09.580 and the world are open
00:19:10.700 and that's why
00:19:11.440 we're thrilled
00:19:11.940 to introduce
00:19:12.600 the Honest Talk podcast
00:19:14.280 I'm Jennifer Stewart
00:19:15.620 and I'm Catherine Clark
00:19:16.860 and in this podcast
00:19:17.920 we interview
00:19:18.740 Canada's most inspiring women
00:19:20.520 entrepreneurs
00:19:21.080 artists
00:19:22.000 athletes
00:19:22.660 politicians
00:19:23.280 and newsmakers
00:19:24.160 all at different stages
00:19:25.480 of their journey
00:19:26.320 so if you're looking
00:19:27.640 to connect
00:19:28.180 then we hope you'll join us
00:19:29.620 listen to the Honest Talk podcast
00:19:31.220 on iHeartRadio
00:19:32.220 or wherever you listen
00:19:33.200 to your podcasts
00:19:33.940 I want to get back
00:19:36.680 to the big story
00:19:37.860 number three of the week
00:19:38.820 you may have missed
00:19:39.560 I want to move on
00:19:41.160 to another big issue
00:19:42.400 and that is
00:19:43.140 confirmation hearings
00:19:44.420 Cash Patel's
00:19:45.640 was at the end
00:19:47.140 of last week as well
00:19:48.320 and we are now
00:19:49.500 seeing a lot of people
00:19:51.180 that are getting
00:19:51.860 their audios
00:19:53.060 see you later
00:19:54.520 thanks for serving
00:19:55.600 you're out of a job
00:19:56.940 in the deep state
00:19:58.320 this is another reason
00:19:59.500 why we need to get
00:20:00.240 Cash Patel
00:20:01.080 in there quickly
00:20:01.980 let's talk about
00:20:03.340 where that is
00:20:03.900 and also you had
00:20:04.840 a very interesting
00:20:05.780 back and forth
00:20:06.600 with him
00:20:06.980 over some of the
00:20:07.960 things that the left
00:20:09.440 is trying to attack him on
00:20:11.040 well the hearing
00:20:12.760 the Democrats
00:20:14.340 went after Cash Patel
00:20:16.240 furiously
00:20:17.240 as I said
00:20:18.600 on Hannity
00:20:19.360 last week
00:20:20.080 the hearing
00:20:22.380 reminded me
00:20:23.280 of Shakespeare's
00:20:24.820 Macbeth
00:20:25.340 it was a tale
00:20:26.400 told by an idiot
00:20:27.260 full of sound
00:20:27.960 and fury
00:20:28.380 and signifying nothing
00:20:29.480 the Democrats
00:20:31.060 did not get any traction
00:20:32.240 they were foaming
00:20:33.300 at the mouth
00:20:33.820 they were coming
00:20:34.400 after him
00:20:35.200 ferociously
00:20:36.720 and yet
00:20:38.080 I don't think
00:20:38.580 they moved
00:20:38.960 a single vote
00:20:39.580 I think Cash Patel
00:20:40.840 will get confirmed
00:20:41.840 now
00:20:42.880 every Democrat
00:20:44.260 on the committee
00:20:44.760 is going to vote no
00:20:45.560 and my guess is
00:20:46.460 every Democrat
00:20:47.060 in the Senate
00:20:47.560 is going to vote no
00:20:48.440 on him
00:20:48.880 but I think
00:20:50.100 we will get
00:20:50.900 we might get to 53
00:20:52.680 but we will at a minimum
00:20:54.040 get to 50
00:20:54.840 with J.D. Vance
00:20:55.700 breaking the tie
00:20:56.560 and I don't think
00:20:57.700 the hearing moved
00:20:58.660 a single vote
00:20:59.460 when my questioning
00:21:01.340 occurred
00:21:01.880 you know
00:21:02.780 the week before
00:21:03.620 I had spent
00:21:04.380 a couple of hours
00:21:05.740 helping moot
00:21:06.980 Cash Patel
00:21:07.600 helping get him ready
00:21:08.620 I actually got to play
00:21:09.820 Sheldon Whitehouse
00:21:11.420 who's a very liberal
00:21:12.260 senator
00:21:12.620 in the moot
00:21:13.720 and I gotta say
00:21:14.700 it was fun
00:21:15.280 just raving at him
00:21:16.400 screaming at him
00:21:17.300 I tried to insult him
00:21:18.720 I was a total jerk
00:21:20.080 in the moot
00:21:20.760 which if you're doing
00:21:21.560 a moot well
00:21:22.220 Explain for people
00:21:23.540 that don't know
00:21:24.000 how this works
00:21:24.720 you get people
00:21:26.060 and I've gotten to do this
00:21:27.140 a couple of times
00:21:27.820 it's really fun
00:21:28.700 you get somebody ready
00:21:30.080 for a confirmation hearing
00:21:31.460 and many people
00:21:33.600 like you just described
00:21:34.640 you play the other side
00:21:36.400 you try to get them ready
00:21:37.760 for what they're going to face
00:21:39.040 and the setting
00:21:40.400 that you do it in
00:21:41.320 was this more relaxed
00:21:42.440 or was it more formal
00:21:43.360 I don't know
00:21:43.920 it was done exactly
00:21:44.900 like a hearing
00:21:45.540 he was sitting at a table
00:21:46.620 we were around him
00:21:47.940 like firing questions
00:21:49.420 at him
00:21:49.880 and sometimes you do it
00:21:51.980 this way
00:21:52.320 sometimes you don't
00:21:53.160 but in this instance
00:21:54.020 they gave me
00:21:54.780 the role of Sheldon Whitehouse
00:21:56.640 who's one of the most
00:21:57.420 partisan Democrats
00:21:58.240 on the committee
00:21:58.880 I've served with Sheldon
00:21:59.920 13 years
00:22:01.140 I know him well
00:22:02.100 and so you know
00:22:03.500 I mean I was screaming
00:22:04.700 at him
00:22:05.320 and my questions
00:22:07.240 were wildly unfair
00:22:08.480 but you gotta get ready
00:22:11.320 for wildly unfair questions
00:22:12.680 I was not trying
00:22:13.640 to be nice to him
00:22:14.360 in the mood
00:22:14.660 because that
00:22:15.280 if you're doing that
00:22:16.580 you're not doing
00:22:17.120 your job in a mood
00:22:17.960 and I gotta say
00:22:19.780 he did
00:22:21.020 so it was interesting
00:22:21.880 in the mood
00:22:22.260 a couple of times
00:22:23.300 like Cash
00:22:24.560 would try to pop back
00:22:25.640 and we would stop
00:22:26.360 and say look
00:22:26.960 it's not your job
00:22:28.320 to punch the Democrats
00:22:31.060 in the face
00:22:31.620 in this hearing
00:22:32.340 my advice
00:22:34.100 by the way
00:22:34.660 to every hearing nominee
00:22:35.880 is be boring
00:22:38.200 right now
00:22:40.180 today
00:22:40.480 you've got the votes
00:22:41.320 to be confirmed
00:22:42.000 from the Democrats
00:22:43.600 perspective
00:22:44.200 the only way
00:22:44.740 they can change that
00:22:45.900 is get you
00:22:47.460 to say something
00:22:48.260 in the hearing
00:22:49.000 where you
00:22:50.280 you step on a landmine
00:22:52.120 and blow yourself up
00:22:53.240 if you don't do that
00:22:55.200 you will be confirmed
00:22:56.200 and you will go do the job
00:22:57.480 the president
00:22:57.960 has asked you to do
00:22:58.840 and so
00:23:00.520 a good role
00:23:02.960 of a hearing
00:23:03.520 you know
00:23:03.800 someone you know
00:23:04.480 very well
00:23:05.060 is John Ashcroft
00:23:06.500 so when I was
00:23:08.820 a young baby lawyer
00:23:10.080 I was part of the team
00:23:12.360 that helped prepare
00:23:13.700 John Ashcroft
00:23:14.720 for his confirmation hearing
00:23:16.920 to be attorney general
00:23:17.940 and I was
00:23:19.440 you know
00:23:19.720 30 years old
00:23:20.560 a baby lawyer
00:23:21.160 but I'd been on the Bush campaign
00:23:22.740 and Ashcroft gets nominated
00:23:23.900 to be AG
00:23:24.380 so I remember
00:23:25.320 we're prepping him
00:23:26.500 and just like
00:23:27.960 with Cash Patel
00:23:28.880 we were asking
00:23:29.760 horrible questions
00:23:30.900 we were asking
00:23:31.560 I mean
00:23:32.800 we were just
00:23:33.480 just
00:23:33.900 and in the prep session
00:23:36.040 Ashcroft would get pissed
00:23:37.320 and he'd yell at us
00:23:38.600 and
00:23:39.400 and
00:23:39.760 and we'd say
00:23:41.040 we'd say
00:23:41.460 Senator you're exactly right
00:23:42.640 that that question
00:23:43.640 was terrible
00:23:44.400 it was
00:23:44.880 it was unfair
00:23:45.740 it was dishonest
00:23:47.140 it was abusive
00:23:48.020 Senator can we remind you
00:23:50.800 you have the votes right now
00:23:51.940 like
00:23:52.600 they want you
00:23:53.600 to get pissed
00:23:54.620 and so I was glad
00:23:56.000 he yelled at me
00:23:56.640 and he yelled at the other people
00:23:57.560 in the mood
00:23:57.920 because that
00:23:58.480 it got it off his chest
00:23:59.960 and
00:24:00.760 and I still remember
00:24:01.680 you go back
00:24:02.180 and watch Ashcroft's
00:24:03.300 confirmation hearing
00:24:05.000 and there was one exchange
00:24:07.000 and I'm paraphrasing
00:24:07.880 it was 24 years ago
00:24:09.300 but
00:24:09.580 but he had given a speech
00:24:11.800 about the second amendment
00:24:12.940 and he had talked about
00:24:14.760 the second amendment
00:24:15.720 that the framers
00:24:16.520 had intended
00:24:17.060 as a second amendment
00:24:18.220 as a check
00:24:19.600 on tyranny
00:24:20.580 from
00:24:20.900 from the government
00:24:21.620 and Ted Kennedy
00:24:23.480 who was questioning him
00:24:24.460 goes
00:24:24.700 tyranny
00:24:25.620 from our government
00:24:27.620 the American government
00:24:29.220 you know what that is
00:24:30.380 treason man
00:24:31.500 I say you're a traitor
00:24:32.700 and he like screams
00:24:34.460 at the top of his lungs
00:24:35.620 calling Ashcroft a traitor
00:24:37.720 and at the actual hearing
00:24:38.920 Ashcroft
00:24:39.560 I don't think his heartbeat
00:24:40.920 exceeded 65 beats a minute
00:24:42.920 and he very calmly said
00:24:44.020 Senator
00:24:44.320 if I'm confirmed
00:24:45.040 as Attorney General
00:24:45.900 I will follow the law
00:24:47.620 and I will enforce the law
00:24:48.960 and it got confirmed
00:24:50.280 so
00:24:51.660 Cash Patel likewise
00:24:53.060 he got some of his yelling out
00:24:55.260 at the mooters
00:24:55.860 actually
00:24:56.180 though not much
00:24:56.980 he did a good job
00:24:57.720 of not losing his cool
00:24:58.780 in the moot
00:24:59.920 and then in the hearing
00:25:01.040 I think he did an excellent job
00:25:02.500 when it came to my turn
00:25:04.520 they had been beating him up a lot
00:25:07.120 on January 6th
00:25:08.620 and so I wanted to give him a chance
00:25:10.160 to get out some basic facts
00:25:12.100 so give a listen
00:25:13.380 to my cross-examination
00:25:14.960 of Cash Patel
00:25:16.640 this past week
00:25:17.540 on his confirmation hearing
00:25:19.820 for director of the FBI
00:25:21.200 you will be
00:25:23.860 and have been accused
00:25:24.780 of just about everything
00:25:25.820 they can
00:25:26.340 but I want to focus
00:25:27.220 on what several Democrats
00:25:28.420 have done recently
00:25:29.560 which is trying to blame you
00:25:32.680 for the violence
00:25:33.440 that occurred
00:25:34.100 on January 6th
00:25:36.480 which even in the annals
00:25:38.420 of ridiculous attacks
00:25:40.840 this one really takes the cake
00:25:44.120 so let's just
00:25:44.840 let's just focus
00:25:45.660 on some facts
00:25:46.600 let me ask you a question
00:25:48.440 what role did you occupy
00:25:51.140 in the days
00:25:53.300 immediately before January 6th
00:25:55.560 Chief of Staff
00:25:56.220 of the Department of Defense
00:25:57.220 you were the Chief of Staff
00:25:59.160 at the Department of Defense
00:26:00.720 yes sir
00:26:01.440 so to be clear
00:26:02.800 you were not rioting
00:26:04.060 at the Capitol
00:26:05.260 no sir
00:26:05.820 where were you physically
00:26:08.360 on January 6th
00:26:10.400 in the office
00:26:10.940 of the Secretary of Defense
00:26:11.980 in the Pentagon
00:26:12.440 and what were you doing
00:26:15.520 on that day
00:26:16.700 on that day specifically
00:26:18.600 responding to
00:26:19.820 preparing to
00:26:20.740 mobilize and deploy
00:26:21.800 the National Guard
00:26:22.680 once we got the lawful request
00:26:24.540 from the local
00:26:25.140 governing authority
00:26:26.000 which was the mayor of DC
00:26:27.220 and the Speaker of the House
00:26:28.240 now how many days
00:26:29.920 in advance
00:26:30.600 were you working
00:26:31.600 to prepare
00:26:32.100 the Department of Defense
00:26:33.020 to help secure
00:26:33.860 the Capitol
00:26:34.340 on January 6th
00:26:35.400 days in advance
00:26:36.360 Senator
00:26:36.700 we were in the Oval Office
00:26:37.820 on an unrelated
00:26:38.580 national security matter
00:26:39.780 with the President
00:26:40.340 of the United States
00:26:41.100 the Secretary of Defense
00:26:42.220 the Chairman
00:26:42.700 of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
00:26:43.800 and myself
00:26:44.400 and the President
00:26:45.660 authorized up to 20,000
00:26:47.340 plus National Guards
00:26:48.360 men and women
00:26:48.940 to secure
00:26:49.880 any security measures
00:26:51.080 necessary related
00:26:51.740 to the Capitol
00:26:52.300 so we were moving
00:26:53.880 to the fullest extent
00:26:55.020 of the law
00:26:55.560 before the requisite
00:26:57.420 request came
00:26:58.560 from a local
00:26:59.100 governing authority
00:26:59.780 days ahead of time
00:27:00.760 and while you were
00:27:02.240 Chief of Staff
00:27:03.160 at DOD
00:27:03.840 how many times
00:27:05.120 did DOD
00:27:05.920 approach Capitol Police
00:27:07.980 and ask
00:27:08.720 if they needed
00:27:09.400 National Guard assistance
00:27:10.420 I believe those letters
00:27:12.140 are well documented
00:27:13.040 numerous instances
00:27:14.800 and numerous
00:27:16.560 of those instances
00:27:17.480 they were
00:27:18.240 those requests
00:27:19.120 were shut down
00:27:20.200 now am I correct
00:27:21.660 that the Capitol
00:27:22.200 Sergeant at Arms
00:27:23.080 said assistance
00:27:23.780 was unnecessary
00:27:24.440 that's correct
00:27:26.040 Senator
00:27:26.420 who did the
00:27:28.860 Sergeant at Arms
00:27:29.520 report to
00:27:30.060 the Speaker of the House
00:27:31.200 that would have been
00:27:32.260 Nancy Pelosi at the time
00:27:33.400 is that correct
00:27:34.060 yes Senator
00:27:35.460 and and
00:27:37.360 would that also be
00:27:39.100 Chuck Schumer
00:27:40.260 then the Senate
00:27:40.800 Majority Leader
00:27:41.400 the Sergeant at Arms
00:27:43.100 yes Senator
00:27:43.600 reports up there
00:27:44.420 did
00:27:46.340 Mayor Bowser
00:27:47.780 the Democrat
00:27:49.640 elected mayor
00:27:50.660 in D.C.
00:27:51.660 either request
00:27:52.760 or allow
00:27:53.300 National Guard
00:27:53.900 assistance
00:27:54.380 she put in writing
00:27:55.580 on the days
00:27:56.720 leading up to
00:27:57.200 January 6th
00:27:58.100 a declination
00:27:58.840 for National Guard
00:28:00.020 additional support
00:28:00.860 and that letter
00:28:01.860 is available
00:28:02.260 publicly to the world
00:28:03.240 so so
00:28:04.040 and and just
00:28:04.780 to to speak
00:28:05.880 English for folks
00:28:06.740 at home
00:28:07.140 a declination
00:28:07.860 meant she said
00:28:08.600 no don't send
00:28:09.600 National Guard
00:28:10.220 is that right
00:28:10.680 yes sir
00:28:11.240 let me ask you
00:28:14.260 a simple question
00:28:15.000 because from the
00:28:15.580 questioning from my
00:28:16.340 Democrat colleagues
00:28:17.160 they might think
00:28:17.740 otherwise
00:28:18.180 do you condemn
00:28:19.840 violence against
00:28:20.600 law enforcement
00:28:21.180 all of it
00:28:22.080 and by the way
00:28:23.900 is that true
00:28:24.700 whether the violence
00:28:25.600 is right wing
00:28:27.300 or left wing
00:28:28.020 or anywhere else
00:28:28.920 there is no
00:28:29.720 discriminating
00:28:30.620 between types of
00:28:31.480 violence against
00:28:32.080 law enforcement
00:28:32.580 and do you believe
00:28:35.200 those who assault
00:28:36.260 and commit violence
00:28:37.200 against law enforcement
00:28:38.660 should be prosecuted
00:28:39.940 and and should be
00:28:41.200 sent to jail
00:28:41.940 especially those
00:28:43.100 that kill them
00:28:44.140 let me ask you
00:28:46.060 how many years
00:28:46.700 have you worked
00:28:48.220 in public service
00:28:48.920 about 16
00:28:50.360 senator
00:28:50.780 and how many years
00:28:52.280 have you worked
00:28:52.780 in particular
00:28:53.340 in law enforcement
00:28:54.420 and prosecution
00:28:55.620 and national security
00:28:56.580 over a decade
00:28:58.120 senator
00:28:58.620 you know
00:29:00.560 I have to say
00:29:01.340 it is
00:29:02.160 ludicrous
00:29:04.800 but sadly predictable
00:29:05.900 that democrats
00:29:08.000 are endeavoring
00:29:08.860 to tarnish you
00:29:09.800 to paint
00:29:11.800 a false
00:29:14.020 caricature
00:29:15.100 based on
00:29:16.640 innuendo
00:29:17.200 and smoke
00:29:18.280 and so you're
00:29:19.000 working to protect
00:29:19.980 the capital
00:29:20.500 on January 6th
00:29:21.680 and yet they're
00:29:22.160 trying to blame you
00:29:23.320 for the violence
00:29:24.800 that occurred
00:29:25.440 let me ask you
00:29:28.880 to this
00:29:29.240 just as a
00:29:29.860 straightforward
00:29:30.220 matter
00:29:30.820 what is the job
00:29:34.380 of the FBI
00:29:35.320 and what will
00:29:37.820 the FBI's role
00:29:39.080 be
00:29:39.580 if and when
00:29:40.780 you are confirmed
00:29:41.520 as its director
00:29:42.560 the simple motto
00:29:44.680 on the website
00:29:45.600 of the FBI's
00:29:46.340 homepage
00:29:46.600 is to protect
00:29:47.340 American citizens
00:29:48.220 and uphold
00:29:48.880 the constitution
00:29:49.660 if I am confirmed
00:29:51.080 as the next director
00:29:51.940 of the FBI
00:29:52.460 that's what we're
00:29:53.600 going to do
00:29:54.080 and redirect
00:29:54.620 resources
00:29:55.280 and making sure
00:29:55.960 that occurs
00:29:56.520 every single day
00:29:57.620 thank you
00:29:59.000 for your
00:29:59.300 willingness
00:29:59.580 to do so
00:30:00.440 and this
00:30:01.100 committee
00:30:01.500 will hold
00:30:02.320 you to account
00:30:03.060 on restoring
00:30:04.060 integrity
00:30:04.700 at the FBI
00:30:05.460 and I thank you
00:30:06.180 also for your
00:30:06.780 commitment
00:30:07.120 to transparency
00:30:07.880 I think that
00:30:09.220 is incredibly
00:30:09.940 important
00:30:10.440 to bringing
00:30:10.880 back integrity
00:30:11.840 and I'm
00:30:12.520 grateful for it
00:30:13.180 wouldn't it be
00:30:13.680 nice if the
00:30:14.300 media would
00:30:14.760 fact check
00:30:15.540 the Democrats
00:30:16.460 on the committee
00:30:17.320 that were
00:30:17.680 trashing him
00:30:18.500 trying to
00:30:18.880 connect him
00:30:19.380 to January 6th
00:30:20.200 like he was
00:30:20.620 an insurrectionist
00:30:21.700 in their words
00:30:22.440 and just tell
00:30:23.700 the story
00:30:24.100 of what he was
00:30:24.520 actually doing
00:30:24.980 I'm so thankful
00:30:25.860 that you asked
00:30:26.460 those questions
00:30:27.160 yeah don't hold
00:30:28.560 your breath
00:30:28.900 on that
00:30:29.240 the media
00:30:29.920 has their
00:30:30.420 story to tell
00:30:31.160 and they're
00:30:31.440 not going
00:30:31.660 to let facts
00:30:32.340 get in the way
00:30:32.860 so last question
00:30:34.300 on this
00:30:34.780 this is a really
00:30:35.600 important position
00:30:36.880 being in charge
00:30:37.700 of the FBI
00:30:38.260 when are you guys
00:30:39.820 going to actually
00:30:40.440 get to vote
00:30:41.000 on this
00:30:41.480 so we will vote
00:30:42.800 on Kash Patel
00:30:43.800 in a week
00:30:44.380 so this week
00:30:45.000 there'll be
00:30:45.340 a markup
00:30:46.520 but the way
00:30:46.980 the Senate
00:30:47.300 Judiciary Committee
00:30:48.160 works is
00:30:49.480 the minority
00:30:50.000 has a right
00:30:50.860 on any vote
00:30:52.160 to hold it over
00:30:53.040 for a week
00:30:53.640 and delay it
00:30:54.200 for a week
00:30:54.700 so they will
00:30:55.600 do that this week
00:30:56.460 and so they'll
00:30:57.020 delay that
00:30:57.760 now Pam Bondi
00:30:59.620 will be confirmed
00:31:00.360 on the floor
00:31:00.840 of the Senate
00:31:01.260 this week
00:31:01.800 so by the end
00:31:02.400 of this week
00:31:02.980 she'll be
00:31:03.380 Attorney General
00:31:04.160 next week
00:31:05.840 we'll vote
00:31:06.640 on Kash Patel
00:31:07.460 and Judiciary Committee
00:31:08.380 and then I'll go
00:31:08.980 to the Senate
00:31:09.340 floor after that
00:31:10.160 as always
00:31:11.320 thank you for
00:31:12.380 listening to
00:31:13.200 Verdict with
00:31:13.820 Senator Ted Cruz
00:31:14.700 Ben Ferguson
00:31:15.420 with you
00:31:15.720 don't forget
00:31:16.200 to download
00:31:16.640 my podcast
00:31:17.440 and you can
00:31:17.980 listen to my
00:31:18.440 podcast
00:31:18.820 every other day
00:31:19.380 you're not
00:31:19.660 listening to
00:31:20.080 Verdict
00:31:20.320 or each day
00:31:21.120 when you listen
00:31:21.520 to Verdict
00:31:21.820 afterwards
00:31:22.400 I'd love to
00:31:23.380 have you as a
00:31:24.000 listener to
00:31:24.620 again the Ben
00:31:25.460 Ferguson podcast
00:31:26.300 and we will see
00:31:27.060 you back here
00:31:27.840 on Monday morning
00:31:29.000 this is an
00:31:30.680 iHeart podcast
00:31:31.620 guaranteed human
00:31:33.720 I Heart podcast
00:31:35.420 and I like
00:31:35.860 to make
00:31:39.180 it
00:31:39.720 to give me
00:31:40.040 a
00:31:41.380 trail
00:31:42.580 and I'll
