00:00:05.520 agriculture in alberta of course it is one of alberta's most important economic drivers and
00:00:12.880 really is a lifeblood of many communities across our entire province and our government is focused
00:00:19.440 on growing agriculture in the industry as a whole improving its productivity competitiveness
00:00:26.160 and working on its sustainability now digital technologies like sensors artificial intelligence
00:00:34.000 and data analytics are showing promise in contributing to this focus however this is new
00:00:40.400 ground and it's important that alberta adopt these innovations in a considered strategic manner
00:00:47.200 and that's why i'm pleased to announce that the government of alberta is providing the simpson
00:00:51.440 center at the university of calgary with 1.2 million over three years to conduct policy
00:00:57.600 research to better understand where the challenges and opportunities lie for the digitization of
