00:00:00.000 My name is Dave Naylor. I'm the news editor of the Western Standard and I'm here for your news
00:00:05.700 update for August 22nd. Sadly it's just me as Triggered with Corey Morgan is no longer on the
00:00:14.300 air but I'm sure Corey's beavering away on some columns to come up on the site so he hasn't left
00:00:21.480 as permanently and will be still his grumpy old self on our pages. It's been a busy morning but
00:00:29.600 the good news is we are now out of Twitter jail. We've been barred from Twitter since August 10th
00:00:37.280 because we did a story, we dared to do a story on Denmark refusing to give children COVID vaccinations
00:00:45.580 along with a good investigative story by Chris Holcorn in Saskatchewan about Saskatchewan social
00:00:52.580 service workers actually taking kids and making them get vaccinated. For this we were put in
00:00:58.520 Twitter jail told to take down our tweets. We refused to because they were accurate and just
00:01:05.080 reporting news we appealed and finally we heard back today that yes Twitter was wrong and they have
00:01:12.300 grovelingly apologized to us. Well maybe not the groveling part but we're back out of Twitter jail
00:01:19.660 now so that's all good to start the week. Other stuff going on it's a very busy news day on the
00:01:25.640 Alberta UCP election front. Our Linda Slobodian has got an exclusive with Brian Jean who says he's going
00:01:33.020 to entirely do away with how Alberta licenses things now from driver's licenses to fishing licenses
00:01:40.860 and he says it's not fair on the seniors to be having to pay these high license fees
00:01:46.580 and he also has some details on how he's going to change equalization so those those people in
00:01:53.060 Quebec can't keep heating their swimming pools on Alberta equalization money. There's also a
00:02:01.600 bit of a mini scandal this morning. There were some strange phone calls that apparently came from the
00:02:08.620 Daniel Smith campaign over the weekend which they were sort of controversial and very rude and
00:02:16.320 unprofessional. Well Daniel Smith has come out this morning to say wasn't as obviously a prank. Our call
00:02:23.740 centers weren't even working at the time. Chris Holkorn in Saskatchewan has got a story on the
00:02:30.540 a fairly angry Scott Moe is demanding from Stephen Gilbert the federal environment minister why federal
00:02:38.440 inspectors were trespassing on farmland in Saskatchewan to apparently trying to get test samples out of
00:02:46.420 test water samples out of dugouts. He says if they do it again they're going to be arrested.
00:02:55.020 We've got some must-see video this morning out of Arkansas of three police officers
00:03:00.000 actually beating the hell out of a suspect on the ground. You see one officer repeatedly
00:03:05.700 raining blows on this this guy's head even picks him by the head and slams his head into the concrete
00:03:12.460 while another officer is is seen repeatedly kneeing them or kneeing the victim on the ground.
00:03:19.180 So once again that's it for me Dave Naylor news editor of the Western Standard. Keep checking back
00:03:24.540 throughout the day as we update news as it happens. Have a good day.
00:03:30.000 you
