Western Standard has been challenged by the CBC over the use of their logo in an article and social media they had been using earlier. We won't back down by any means. We own that logo, it's fair use, and we can have fun with it.

00:00:00.000 Hey there, Cory Morgan here with Western Standard, one of the columnists and podcast editor and
00:00:11.520 ranter. As you may have already heard, the CBC has sent a legal threat to the Western Standard
00:00:19.720 over the use of their logo in an article and some social media that the Western Standard
00:00:25.840 had been using earlier. We did a broadcast on that with Jonathan Dennis, who's speaking up for us
00:00:32.120 legally, and we won't be backing down by any means. We're taxpayers too. We own that logo.
00:00:39.040 But let's have some more fun with this. The CBC logo, we'd like to hold a contest for other people.
00:00:47.860 We've got so many creative listeners and viewers out there. Make your own parody CBC logo and send
00:00:54.240 it to us, and we will happily promote it. We'll have a prize, well, with honorable mention and a
00:00:59.140 write-up and such for the creative efforts of somebody else. There's lots of things we can do
00:01:03.200 with our CBC logo. Let's get them out there and have some fun with it. I've seen some with a hammer
00:01:07.320 and sickle within it. This one here from Defund the CBC has got, I don't know, some sort of meme in the
00:01:13.000 middle of it. This one's fantastic. It made the CBC logo out of baloney. They did that on the Defund
00:01:19.260 CBC Facebook page. So send us your creations on the CBC logo. Let's, you know, we're going to push
00:01:27.660 back legally. We're going to push back in every other way. We own that logo as taxpayers. It's
00:01:32.060 also fair use. We can use that, you know, for satire and parody, and there's a lot of fun we can
00:01:37.300 have this. So if you come up with a parody CBC logo, please send it to info at westernstandardonline.com.
00:01:44.880 You can send it directly to me. My email address is all over out there. Do it through a Facebook
00:01:49.620 message. Come up with something creative. Send it our way. I'll list a bunch of them on my live
00:01:53.980 rant on Monday night, and we will pick a top logo out of the ones submitted by Western Standard
00:02:01.260 viewers and followers. You can contribute in more ways than to our legal fund, which we could use as
00:02:05.540 well because the CBC does have 1.3 billion dollars they can play with. We're a little lower than that
00:02:11.320 on that. So again, CBC logo contest. You know, a graphic designer, it doesn't have to be great.
00:02:16.460 It just has to be fun. I still love this baloney one the best, but there's all sorts of things we
00:02:20.580 can do. So come up with your best. Send it our way, and we will list them all Monday night
00:02:27.240 and pick a winner out of the bunch. Thanks again.
