The Middle East has exploded into war again, and it just never seems to come to an end. Today, we re going to talk about that, with a guest from the Western Standard, Dave Makachuk.
00:00:30.760Good day. Welcome to the Cory Morgan Show. This day isn't all that good. I mean, you
00:00:36.320know, everybody's seen it. The news is dominated by it. The Middle East has exploded into war
00:00:41.900again. The images are horrific. Israel and Gaza everywhere. It just never seems to come
00:00:48.260to an end. So yeah, of course, we're going to talk predominantly about that today. It's
00:00:52.640going to be a big story and it does impact us all, even if it is on the other side of
00:00:56.880the world, particularly when we see some of the reactions coming from people over here in Canada
00:01:01.640and overseas, a lot of very embarrassing reactions. And there's been some good ones. You know, I'll
00:01:06.740talk a little later, but Justin Trudeau actually, I think has been some of the best leadership
00:01:11.300demonstrated from him in his statements and things since he's been elected. So, I mean,
00:01:16.760it's a refreshing change because Lord knows I spend enough time explaining why Justin Trudeau
00:01:21.000is not a competent leader. I'm glad at least he found some strength this week.
00:01:26.880as well, I'm going to have a guest on, of course, as always, Dave Makachuk's going to come on. He's
00:01:31.300been on a number of times before. He writes for the Western Standard, and he's always specialized
00:01:35.460in military things and that. And yeah, this was booked a while ago. Dave's down in Washington
00:01:39.820actually at a show. It's the Association of the United States Army show. It's almost a military
00:01:45.200trade show. And yeah, some people think, oh, of all times, you're going to talk about this. Yeah,
00:01:49.380I know, but the show is on right now. And actually, there are some interesting things
00:01:51.780to examine and talk about there. For one, something out of the Canadian booth we'll talk
00:01:56.200about. But as well, I mean, with modern arms, believe it or not, if we aren't going to be able
00:02:02.120to escape from military actions, perhaps at least with some newer, more modern means of killing
00:02:09.380each other, we can try to reduce it to the combatants as much as possible. We haven't gotten
00:02:14.000to that world without war yet. All right, let's talk though. I'll give my views on some of the
00:02:18.640stuff that's going on and something that's got to happen. I want to talk about Gaza and I want to
00:02:24.420about Hamas. And a lot of people don't, it is a complicated history over in the Middle East,
00:02:29.960things of territory has come, it's gone. Gaza used to be a piece of Egypt, and then it was
00:02:35.620taken by Israel in 67. And then Israel gave it kind of back independent to 18 years ago.
00:02:42.220And it's just never been settled. Now, Hamas, it didn't emerge from a vacuum, you know, it was0.66
00:02:48.200popularly, it is a popularly supported organization in Gaza, it's their governing body, and it's been
00:02:54.140running them for 18 years. It was selected by the citizens of Gaza that represented. They were
00:02:58.780elected initially. Now they haven't had elections since, but they put them in there. Now it's time
00:03:03.740for the citizens of Gaza to abandon Hamas, if only for their own sake. I mean, it's only when0.78
00:03:08.860locals stop supporting and shielding the terrorist efforts of Hamas will those terrorist efforts come
00:03:16.060to an end. And when those terrorist efforts come to an end, Israel will stop retaliating. This is
00:03:20.940the cycle of events that has to happen. I mean, the active participants within Hamas might be in
00:03:25.660a minority, but it's looking like they still enjoy the support of most of the Gazans, if only
00:03:30.200passively, and that support has to end. I know that not every citizen of Gaza supports the
00:03:35.060terrorist act of Hamas, and I know that they're suffering under the retaliation. Innocent civilians
00:03:40.380are going to suffer, and they're going to get killed. I know it's easy for me to sit safely in0.90
00:03:45.020Canada and tell people in Gaza to turn on their fellow Hamas members. I mean, these members are0.99
00:03:49.700often friends, family, community leaders. I can't imagine the punishment for a citizen caught
00:03:54.940opposing Hamas and Gaza right now. But when the option is, having most of Gaza leveled in0.80
00:04:01.620airstrikes and shelling, the loyalties to the terrorists of Hamas has to start weakening.
00:04:07.820They can't just sit back and keep blaming Israel. What's Israel expected to do?
00:04:11.800The scumbags of Hamas slaughtered people at a music festival. They murdered babies,
00:04:16.520raped women and tortured them. They shot down entire families and now they're holding hostages.
00:04:22.720Is Israel supposed to just shrug and let bygones be bygones? Not going to happen, guys. Israel isn't
00:04:28.260going to stop now until this threat is neutralized and that threat is Hamas. It's going to be a long0.96
00:04:32.860and bloody war if Hamas can continue hiding among the citizens of Gaza. The terrorists of Hamas and0.53
00:04:39.120Hezbollah, they're cowards. They love using their own people as human shields. Cowardice is a hallmark
00:04:43.600of terrorism. I mean, they purposely put military installations in schools and hospitals and of
00:04:49.180course play victim when the inevitable retaliation occurs. I mean, clearly Israel had a breakdown in0.73
00:04:54.520intelligence that allowed them to be caught so off guard when Hamas attacked last weekend.
00:04:58.340And I'm sure they're working feverishly to figure out what went wrong and were going to prevent such
00:05:01.680a lapse from happening again. But how many Gazan citizens knew this attack was in the works?
00:05:07.040Tens of thousands of them must have known as the missiles were being stockpiled, the terrorists
00:05:11.840were being trained and the plans were being made. None of them were in Israel. And all of them must
00:05:16.920have known what retaliation was going to come. And that's because tens of thousands of Gazans
00:05:21.100support the terrorists of Hamas, if not hundreds of thousands of them. But there are millions of
00:05:25.280people there in Gaza. And they surely know the retribution is going to be swift and unforgiving.
00:05:30.740They remain silent. If Gazans want the violence to end, they have to stop supporting Hamas. They0.77
00:05:35.560have to stop feeding them, stop housing them, and stop donating to them. They need to stop hiding
00:05:39.520them and remaining silent when they know the terrorist acts are pending. No approach is going
00:05:44.840to stop all the violence that's surely coming and that we're going to be watching over the coming
00:05:47.640weeks, possibly months. But this violence isn't going to end until Hamas is gone. That's the way0.79
00:05:52.180it is now. The world's not going to defend Hamas. Sure, there's some sympathetic left-wing journalists0.98
00:05:57.520and union heads and academics, but when it comes to developed nations, civilized people, Hamas is0.78
00:06:02.360on their own. They've been condemned roundly by nations in sympathy for their plight as their
00:06:06.920Israeli retaliation ramps up is going to be muted, to say the least. Hamas didn't even pretend to
00:06:12.900make their actions look like a military strike. They targeted civilians with the intent of being
00:06:16.520as inhuman and cruel as possible. They dug their own graves as they went so far over the line of
00:06:21.800humanity that no civilization can offer them sympathy. Hamas is a dead organization, even if0.86
00:06:27.060they don't know it yet, and they're going to be brought down. The only question is by whom and
00:06:30.480how long it's going to take. If Gazans shed themselves at Hamas, the violence will end at0.68
00:06:35.100least more quickly and then leave them, you know, if they leave the task to Israel, it's going to0.52
00:06:39.740take a long time and it's going to be rough. They can only play victims for so long when they've0.84
00:06:43.240been clearly supporting this horrific terror organization. However, the reign of Hamas comes0.85
00:06:48.760to an end. It's coming to an end. Now, whenever it ends and Gazans start rebuilding, hopefully
00:06:52.780their new leadership can focus on the needs of their citizens rather than spending 18 years0.79
00:06:55.920building bombs and fostering hate as Hamas did. Israel pulled out of Gaza nearly 20 years ago.
00:07:00.960How long can they still be blamed for the mess there? Like I said, Egypt used to occupy that0.97
00:07:04.540land. Can they be blamed too? And again, Egypt isn't in any hurry to have it back. That's for0.84
00:07:08.680sure. Only Gazans can determine what's going to happen once this conflict settles down.
00:07:13.520Hopefully they're ready to look at ways of improving their state of affairs rather than0.61
00:07:17.040just fostering more hate and tearing down their neighbors. All right. Well, that's what I've got
00:07:23.680this morning to start things off. Let's get on to our news editor, Dave Naylor, and see what else
00:07:28.280is going on out there. Hey, Dave, how you doing? Yeah, good afternoon, Corey. Holy cow, what a
00:07:33.500over there. I can just bring you up to date now with the latest news that's happening a minute
00:07:39.700by minute. Israeli government spokesman has confirmed that Canadians are in fact being held
00:07:46.080hostage. So far we've got a total of three Canadians killed. Not sure how many are being
00:07:52.860held hostage but some Canadian citizens are being held hostage. The U.S. State Department today
00:08:00.620confirmed 22 dead Americans so far and obviously there'll be likely some Americans held hostage
00:08:07.260and the U.S. has dispatched another aircraft carrier to the region to join the one that's
00:08:14.520already there and some news out of from the bombings in Gaza where 11 United Nations workers
00:08:24.140have been killed and five Red Crescent workers, similar to the Red Cross, workers have been
00:08:32.880killed. And apparently 30 kids were killed when a bomb hit their school. Why they were going to
00:08:40.480school, I have no idea. But yeah, it certainly changes minute by minute, doesn't it, Corey?
00:08:47.420And unfortunately, we're just going to be seeing a lot of terrible images for weeks to come,
00:08:51.920As I said, I mean, you know, the more we have social media to be able to share these things, I guess we're getting faster news, but it isn't pretty.
00:08:57.380Yeah. On the site right now, we've got a story that's absolutely going crazy viral.
00:09:06.020Former Hamas leader Marshall has called for a global jihad on Friday, calling on Muslims around the world to to rise up.
00:09:16.780Tory MP Mark Strahl from Chilliwack Hope has called for Air Canada to fire that pilot who was photographed yesterday wearing a Palestinian scarf and also tweeting stuff about Israel going to hell and how Adolf Hitler would be applauding Israel and their movements now.
00:09:40.100And just coming up, we've got a story on an Alberta NDP candidate.
00:09:47.680She's a serving MLA, Calgary Klein MLA Lizette Teja,
00:09:52.320going on a rant about Israel committing genocide and barbaric acts.
00:10:01.320If you want a break from all the Israeli coverage,0.66
00:10:04.020Our columnist Barry Cooper has got a story on Canada being ruled by ignoramuses, and you can see the blackface picture of Trudeau there, so it doesn't take much to figure out who he's talking about.0.85
00:10:19.240And our columnist Barber is making an argument for limiting the number of immigrants that the Liberals plan to bring into the country.0.66
00:10:31.100And OPEC sort of stating the bleeding obvious as they are concerned with all these moves to the net zero movement.
00:10:39.700And I'm basically saying the demand for oil is not going to go down for decades to come.
00:10:47.180So extremely busy news day, Corey, and lots more to come.
00:10:52.220We were just putting up a story on a Mount Royal University professor who has written some interesting things, shall we say, about Israel and Palestine.
00:11:03.540And I know Mount Royal is set to put out a statement on it.
00:11:06.800So we'll have that for you as soon as possible.
00:21:20.660How does AI get that? Because everybody's talking AI. How does that affect your product?
00:21:26.960So the way it works, I was explaining at the beginning. So we are a very robust software company.
00:21:33.140That's what we are. We do make product and we do integrate with products from other companies.
00:21:39.840We're integrated right now with 45 other companies.
00:21:43.400What's really key about that is that if somebody over the past several years,
00:21:47.640A lot of people that have been investing in this type of technology, they have spent millions of dollars in different types of sensors and bringing those capabilities.
00:21:57.080And if they engage with D-Drone and utilize our particular products, we would not only bring them all the futuristic stuff, everything that is new to market right now, but I can also integrate all of their existing products as well so they don't lose their investment that they've already put in over the past several years.
00:22:16.840And then with all that, with our machine learning team, what those guys do is they're actually building machine learning models.
00:22:27.180And then those models are what's loaded up and what become the artificial intelligence.
00:22:41.160So this entire system, in the end, because of the AI, because of the artificial intelligence, this entire system will be able to operate autonomously.
00:22:50.300And the only part of it and what we call it is we no longer say like a man or woman in the loop.
00:22:57.540And what that is is that everything about this can be automated except for the actual hitting the mitigation button because that requires authority to do it in most places.
00:23:07.700so that you need a human involved to make the decision to hit the button to
00:23:12.420take that thing out of the sky and by taking it out it's it's it's not they
00:23:17.900don't crash into it they take it down with RF right we just take it we just
00:23:21.560take it down right and take it down right yeah appreciate this thank you
00:23:28.460for taking time for uh talk to uh western standard readers and uh so yeah okay thank you you can
00:23:39.000appreciate it thank you so much thanks carol so anyway i i just wanted to uh quickly tell you
00:23:45.360a little bit about a usa um uh there it is uh 700 different companies come here every year
00:23:54.120from 80 countries. And there are visitors from, well, basically about 35,000 people attend
00:24:04.180over a week. And it involves media like myself, industry company workers, strictly company and
00:24:16.460military from all over the world. I've seen soldiers from Germany. I've seen from Egypt.
00:24:24.120I've seen every and everybody is here company wise, except for China and Russia and Turkey decided not to come this year because they're doing better in the Mideast and they're having a hard time breaking into the American markets.
00:24:41.500But, I mean, we're talking, the U.S. has billions of dollars to spend, and they're all vying, these companies come here to present their products and talk to industry or military people in the U.S. Army.
00:24:59.720And also there's meetings, there's roundtables with U.S. generals, there's demonstrations.
00:25:07.360Like I say, the Axon here has a, they have a theater, they actually have a theater where they've made a film about their products.
00:28:23.660The wars aren't going away as much as we'd like them to, but if we could try to keep them between the combatants, it would be, I guess, less horrible.
