00:02:10.600 chip away its support for Daniel Smith's premiership they haven't really been able to crack her support

00:02:14.800 in Alberta the coronation of the head and inchie as NDP leader garnered them no new traction and I mean

00:02:20.320 while Smith's government hasn't been surging in the polls they haven't had much to fear from the

00:02:24.060 morbid NDP but that might all change and fast I mean we got a recipe for a perfect storm coming

00:02:29.420 together and if it blows up it could spell the demise of the Smith government Alberta's legacy

00:02:34.160 media outlets and NDP they're salivating right now this story is one of possible corruption within

00:02:39.560 the ranks of the provincial cabinet procurements and contracts may have been improperly awarded and

00:02:44.560 senior bureaucrats might have been pressured and even fired for resisting pressure to direct funds

00:02:48.560 towards certain service providers I mean that story on its own sounds bad enough and with the issue

00:02:53.360 emanating from the health department it becomes a potential catastrophe I mean citizens hate seeing

00:02:59.100 public funds being misappropriated they you would think they'd be getting used to seeing it in Canada

00:03:02.840 but they hate even more when the misdoings appear to be happening in the sacred health care file

00:03:07.600 this is the sort of thing that can lead to a collapse in public support for a party and fast

00:03:12.560 the the affair affair the affair that's a tongue twister appears I gotta write things differently

00:03:19.480 you know it'd be more of a he said she said state right now the recently fired CEO of Alberta Health

00:03:24.340 Services has fired filed a lawsuit for wrongful dismissal and is packed with troubling allegations

00:03:29.180 she's seeking 1.7 million dollars and she's pretty strongly motivated to take a run at the government to 1.00

00:03:34.360 get it is it a case of a bureaucrat scorned taking it out on the government or is she a whistleblower

00:03:39.280 exposing deep rot in government practices I mean for what right now anyways was lacking is solid

00:03:44.360 evidence anybody can make allegations in a lawsuit until they're proven in court though they are

00:03:48.640 nothing more than allegations still this file has been passed to the auditor general the ethics

00:03:52.580 commissioner and the RCMP so far the RCMP hasn't indicated they seen any criminal wrongdoing yet that

00:03:57.560 might change I don't know we need evidence the head and entry of course is trying his hardest to

00:04:01.620 make hay from this issue he ridiculously and prematurely demanded the resignation of the premier

00:04:05.500 and in his zeal he's already kind of undermined his own credibility on the affair

00:15:51.100 constitution for alberta right give us some give us some real details about what it could be and what

00:15:58.880 it should be and we brought in a whole group of people and a lot of uh a lot of very very uh

00:16:05.380 intelligent and and well-educated people to to look at that so we've already got the basis for that

00:16:11.500 uh america fund of course the other spokesperson is peter downing so uh peter and i a little while

00:16:18.560 back and some other businessmen as well we uh we came together as then and partnered with america fund

00:16:25.480 as the mechanism by which we could fund uh do the things that need to be done for ab 51 as a concept

00:16:36.380 right now um so that's a little bit about the group and um and and and its focus is to educate

00:16:44.960 people and say look there is a there is a path there is this is a good thing for alberta the

00:16:51.240 financially economically for our children our grandchildren this is a good thing and really

00:16:56.940 in our view really the only way to go forward considering current geopolitical and and geoeconomical

00:17:04.320 circumstances that look we need to have a path to protect uh albertans uh and western canadians as a

00:17:12.080 whole um and and give us uh something solid that we can we can actually uh that's been well thought

00:17:20.280 let's put it that way yeah so this concept's been around for for quite a while we were talking

00:17:24.360 earlier i was working with patrick beauchamp uh you know over 25 years ago and he was trying to

00:17:29.420 promote it it was difficult to get that that concept out there and that's what you're saying

00:17:33.420 it's an educational concept but it really has a re-emerged on the scene i don't know if it's

00:17:38.720 taking widespread support on the ground but people are talking about it more than ever thanks to

00:17:42.340 president trump uh repeatedly uh mentioning that oh he's been talking about the whole country

00:17:47.280 as a 51 so so we don't we've been looking at this a long time we don't see it as a whole country

00:17:54.140 thing okay economically canada's got a problem its governance is a problem everybody knows this i mean

00:18:01.320 the canadian system is broken it's not fixable a new leader goes in same problems it's already and

00:18:19.160 got a problem and we need to really change that but at but what we're interested in is dealing with

00:19:54.800 the constitution for alberta and come up with something that is a a viable path to be able to do this

00:20:14.640 do we actually do this i mean clarity act forget about it right you got 51 percent it's got to go to

00:20:20.200 to um to the parliament three quarters of parliament have to agree it's never going to happen it's set up

00:20:26.720 for for a failure um but now that we have an american protectorate and an offer that says

00:21:32.140 they would in canada a hundred percent resource ownership and it's the same thing with the state

00:21:37.700 the state has that the government can't dictate your economic uh decisions we can't have a japan losing

00:21:46.880 a trillion dollar deal on lng and alberta because the eastern canada the laurentian elites say no no

00:21:54.260 no we don't want you to have that over there and so guess who's getting an l the u.s right they're

00:24:36.320 you need to present an option to the people and stop the fear-mongering because the fear-mongering

00:24:46.480 brought out for president trump for a lot of these questions out i i wonder how much uh necessarily

00:24:56.960 kind of galvanized a sense of patriotism among albertans even within canada as you said there's

00:25:00.840 some of that team canada where it's misgiven i mean i think some of you as you say it's strategic

00:25:05.260 on trump's part yes but when you one of an analogy i use in a sense is you know alberta and the rest

00:25:11.480 of canada already eastern canada been like in a domestic dispute and squabbling for a long time

00:25:15.100 but you got to watch it when you step in between a couple of seven domestic dispute because you

00:25:19.160 could find both of them turning on you and uh you know say hey we're yeah i can't stand that

00:25:24.200 will be this isn't your business let us sort this out and then we'll talk with you i'm just saying

00:25:29.400 it you know it's brought the discussion up but i think it might have made some people dig their heels
