Western Standard - Cory rips into the environmental movement

00:00:00.000 I mean, modern environmentalists have become a cult of Luddites, opposed to every development

00:00:04.600 made to make life more comfortable for human beings. And they can't be reasoned with. They're

00:00:09.560 blinded by ideology and an anti-human outlook. They can't be dismissed either, as they're

00:00:14.580 occupying the halls of power in both the government and the corporate world. They're imposing their

00:00:18.740 crazed policies, and they are crazy, and citizens are suffering because of it. Their sights are 0.97

00:00:23.700 most commonly set on climate change, and it's a convenient boogeyman for their cause. They can,

00:00:28.640 they can and do blame everything on climate change. I mean, from racism to obesity to weather

00:00:32.880 events. I know that sounds exaggerated, but I invite you to look it up. They blame everything

00:00:36.780 on it. Climate change is a catch-all term, and when coupled with the word emergency, of course,

00:00:41.720 policymakers then feel justified in pushing the most extreme and harmful of policies.

00:00:46.240 One of Trudeau's top men is Stephen Gilbeau. Gilbeau is an extremist well-known for being

00:00:51.080 led away in handcuffs in his orange prison jumpsuit, as you can see in that picture there, while he

00:00:55.960 manically grins after he's performed yet another extreme and criminal action, ostensibly in the

00:01:01.160 fighting against climate change. Normally, such a record would halt a developing political career.

00:01:05.500 In Canada, it got him a senior cabinet position in the government. Gilbeau doesn't feel a ban on

00:01:11.120 climate, uh, plastic cutlery goes far enough. He wants all disposable cutlery to be gone, whether

00:01:15.840 compostable or not. Have no fear, though. He has a solution. He says we should eat with our hands.

00:01:20.680 You can't make this sort of thing up. The climate change cult completely ignores the benefits of

00:01:25.760 modern energy sources. Reliable, affordable energy is essential for the survival of the developed

00:01:31.680 world. Eco-fanatics live in a crazed world of denial and hold this romanticized visions of a

00:01:37.300 blissful past where humans lived in harmony with nature and had no impact upon it. They love to push

00:01:42.760 visions of First Nations people living that way, for example. Now let's get back to reality. 1.00

00:01:46.660 300 years ago, the average lifespan for an indigenous person in North America was under

00:01:51.740 30 years. There are typically nomadic foragers and hunters, and they were at the mercy of

00:01:56.760 nature. Famines were common, as were deaths from exposure to extreme elements and territorial

00:02:01.960 wars as starving tribes fought over limited resources. Now I'm not faulting these people

00:02:07.580 for the conditions they lived in. It was just part of every, you know, human culture that

00:02:10.820 came up. But I do want people to understand life before modern energy was no paradise for human

00:02:16.120 beings at all. I don't expect we're going to be driven back to the Neolithic levels of human

00:02:20.080 development, but we're having our advances reversed. An obsessive anti-oil and gas movement

00:02:25.240 has been shutting down production of affordable energy throughout the developed world. Europe's

00:02:29.440 in an energy crisis right now, and they're going to be suffering as winter is starting to

00:02:34.240 loom. And this can't all be blamed on Russia. Europe was facing an energy crisis well before

00:02:38.540 the first Russian soldier headed west into Ukraine. Germany was advising its citizens

00:02:43.600 to learn how to cook over a candle in 2021 due to the energy shortage then. The reason Germany 0.65

00:02:49.540 is in such dire straits is they brought in and bought into the environmental religion 1.00

00:02:54.060 in full. They spent hundreds of billions on supposed sustainable energy sources such as

00:02:59.720 wind and solar. They inexplicably shut down their nuclear generating capacity on the advice

00:03:04.480 of eco-cultists, then discovered they're as dependent on fossil fuels as ever. And now are totally

00:03:10.100 beholden to Russia for their energy sources while they scramble to try and reopen coal

00:03:14.540 plants. Germany was warned. The rest of Europe was warned. Your engineers and business people

00:03:19.540 have tried to tell them there wasn't a viable replacement for conventional energy sources.

00:03:23.340 It didn't matter. The climate cult ignored reason and went ahead with their self-destructive

00:03:27.940 policies. Despite the stark failure of Europe's green energy efforts, Canada is insistent on following

00:03:34.680 on the same path. I mean, while the world's begging for our oil and gas, we're shutting it in. While

00:03:40.440 Dutch farmers revolt in Sri Lanka's government fell due to environmentally driven fertilizer bans,

00:03:46.200 Trudeau wants to do the same thing here. Quislings in the corporate world are falling over themselves

00:03:51.480 trying to appease the green cult and it won't work. While auto manufacturers commit to ending 0.98

00:03:55.720 production of gas-powered vehicles, electrical vehicles are nowhere close to becoming a viable

00:04:00.440 alternative. While oil and gas companies impose ever harsher emission controls upon themselves,

00:04:05.400 the climate cult still demands that they be shut down. They're not going to win, guys. Meanwhile,

00:04:10.040 the cost of energy continues to climb and contribute to an increased cost of living for the entire world.

00:04:15.000 The Luddites and the climate cult are winning. They're dragging human advancement backwards and they

00:04:19.720 don't care about the human cost. Now, while I don't expect we're going to end up back in medieval times,

00:04:24.040 we're heading in that direction. The only question is how far we're going to let the climate cult,

00:04:28.360 and they're cultists, it's time to start labeling them for what they are. And how far are we going

00:04:32.680 to let them pull us back before we stand up for ourselves and say that's enough? We should learn

00:04:36.760 from the Sri Lankan citizens. Unfortunately, people are going to have to get colder and hungrier before

00:04:41.320 they realize what they really bought into with this green new world.
