00:00:00.000 Data out today shows that food prices are exploding.
00:00:03.680 Anyone who's been to a grocery store already knew it,
00:00:06.360 but what is the Prime Minister's solution?
00:00:08.540 He wants to raise taxes on the farmers that produce our food
00:00:12.900 and the truckers that ship it,
00:00:14.580 which means more expensive groceries at the grocery store.
00:00:17.420 It's part of his plan to triple, triple, triple the tax on heat, gas and groceries.
00:00:25.000 The Prime Minister loves to jet around at other people's expense,
00:00:28.000 burning fossil fuels.
00:00:29.940 Will he show some decency and some compassion for the people he's harmed
00:00:33.960 and cancel this April 1st tax hike?
00:00:36.880 The Right Honourable Prime Minister.
00:00:40.780 Mr. Speaker, when I sat down with farmers a few weeks ago
00:00:43.700 to hear their concerns and to talk with them about how we're moving forward,
00:00:47.300 they expressed to me their real concerns and, quite frankly,
00:00:50.680 their leadership in the fight against climate change
00:00:53.280 and their leadership on protecting the environment.
00:00:55.260 And that's why I underline to them and to all Canadians
00:00:58.600 that the Leader of the Opposition is simply wrong
00:01:02.220 in his approach on not fighting climate change.
00:01:05.800 The price on pollution puts more money back in the pockets of Canadians
00:01:09.880 while keeping our air clean.
00:01:11.920 Indeed, a family of four in the Opposition Leader's riding
00:01:15.000 received over $185 from our government in January
00:01:19.080 thanks to the Climate Action Incentive.
00:01:21.000 The Honourable Leader of the Opposition.
00:01:26.260 $185 won't even cover a week's groceries for the average family
00:01:30.060 after food prices have exploded under this Prime Minister.
00:01:33.300 If he thinks our farmers are doing such a great job
00:01:35.640 fighting climate change as I do,
00:01:37.540 then why does he have to tax them again
00:01:39.460 with a big fat tax hike on April 1st?
00:01:43.220 It's worse.
00:01:43.640 It's not just food he's taxing.
00:01:45.140 He wants to increase home heating costs and gas prices.
00:01:48.280 It's a full $0.14 a litre tax,
00:01:50.700 a tax that he wants to triple, triple, triple.
00:01:53.940 Will he cancel his planned April 1st tax hike
00:01:56.780 so that Canadians can afford to eat, heat, and house themselves?
00:02:00.280 The Right Honourable Prime Minister.
00:02:04.040 Mr. Speaker, again, as of April,
00:02:07.200 the Climate Action Incentive will increase
00:02:12.180 in the member opposite's riding.
00:02:14.560 A Canadian family of four will receive $244 in his riding.
00:02:19.420 We've made that because even as we move forward
00:02:22.100 on putting a price on pollution,
00:02:24.300 we are putting more money back in the pockets of Canadian families
00:02:28.220 because Canadian families know that we do have to fight climate change
00:02:31.960 while making sure things are more affordable.
00:02:34.420 That's why we stepped up on issues like dental care and rental care,
00:02:37.680 two issues that the Conservatives voted against.
00:02:39.880 Honourable Leader of the Opposition.
00:02:42.500 Now he calls single mothers polluters because they buy groceries.
00:02:46.540 He calls farmers polluters because they use fuel.
00:02:49.500 He calls seniors polluters because they heat their homes.
00:02:52.460 This is from a guy who we just found out
00:02:54.460 one of his four government-funded mansions
00:02:57.260 spent $8,000 a month on utilities
00:03:02.100 to heat the pool and the sauna.
00:03:04.000 He flew 17 times in one month,
00:03:06.280 including one 10-minute flight
00:03:08.140 because he didn't want to drive an hour from Waterloo to Toronto.
00:03:11.100 Why doesn't the Prime Minister
00:03:12.260 stop his high-carbon, high-tax hypocrisy
00:03:15.700 and cancel this hack?
