00:00:00.640 One of the biggest things we'll be doing this week is actually having conversations
00:00:11.280 with each other to find out what the priorities are for each councillor in each ward and how
00:00:16.040 we can work with each other to accomplish a lot of things and also figuring out which
00:00:20.720 councillors would like to serve on the various committees and boards and commissions so we'll
00:00:25.600 be organizing ourselves getting ready for next Monday. You declined to swear in Councillor
00:00:30.840 Sean Chu. Can you explain to us why you made that decision? I didn't feel it was appropriate
00:00:35.260 for me to swear him in. Why is that? Because I didn't want to swear him in. It did not seem
00:00:40.900 right to me. The justice was willing to do it and I felt that was more appropriate. Is
00:00:44.500 this the first time in history that a fellow member of council hasn't been swearing by the
00:00:48.100 mayor? I believe that there are various models that can be followed. I'm not sure what the
00:00:53.780 history is. I was incredibly thrilled to be swearing in many of my colleagues and I think
00:01:08.380 Justice Rook had a great chance to swear in a couple of members as well. I think it was
00:01:13.700 a good shared responsibility. But it's now that the swearing in process has gone on, one
00:01:18.960 with the justice and one and the others with yourself, is where does Councillor Chu fit in
00:01:25.960 now post swearing in? He's the Ward 4 councillor so he has an incredible responsibility as do the rest
00:01:31.760 of us and we will accomplish the tasks that we need to. But how are you going to be able
00:01:36.560 to sort of interact with him and make him part of this team you've been talking about, the council team?
00:01:41.560 Every team comes together in different ways. We shall see.
00:01:43.560 Councillor Chu has opened the door to sit down and discuss with you in person about the incidents
00:01:48.560 that are causing so much media storm. Have you taken him up on that opportunity?
00:01:54.560 I'm focused on working with new members of council and ones that have returned and letting them enjoy
00:02:00.560 this day of being sworn in. All of us are incredibly proud of what we've accomplished and we are
00:02:05.560 looking forward to celebrating this day as ours. So I'm choosing to focus on that today.
00:02:09.560 Do you plan to meet with him at a future time?
00:02:12.560 The future will dictate that. Today I'm incredibly focused on my family and my colleagues
00:02:16.560 who have achieved a great success here.
00:02:19.560 Thank you very much.
