00:10:52.320 held at this amazing venue, the Telespark Center. As in the MLA for Calgary, I can tell you how
00:11:00.720 fitting it is to be holding this event here at the Telespark Science Center. This tremendous

00:11:58.240 billion dollars of visitor spending in alberta that's up 600 million dollars in 2019 that means
00:12:04.720 that we have yes both matched and surpassed our pre-pandemic spending levels and we're supporting
00:12:10.800 this growth by investing more than 20 million dollars this year to support tourism growth
00:12:16.000 across alberta this investment supports our more promising future for tourism in alberta
00:12:23.040 it's a commitment to create more opportunities ensure that the benefits of tourism reach every
00:12:29.520 corner of our province in our communities and showcase alberta to the rest of the world
00:12:34.080 because alberta has an amazing story to tell and people across canada and across the world
00:12:39.040 want to hear it as part of travel alberta's tourism investment program this funding has
00:12:45.360 already supported a number of exciting projects across the province including support for this
00:12:50.800 beautiful facility the telus spark science center which attracts hundreds of thousands
00:12:55.680 of visitors from across canada and even beyond our borders and outside our newly completed ring
00:13:01.680 road here in calgary we're supporting a number of other cool projects like metis crossing a
00:13:06.640 metis cultural center and boutique hotel the yamnisko wolf dog sanctuary and charm resorts
00:13:12.320 in crow's nest pass these investments drive local economies and allow albertans to share the best of
00:13:19.200 what this province has to offer the rest of the world and as we look forward to our bold and
00:13:24.400 ambitious goal of growing alberta's visitor economy to over 20 billion dollars a year by 2035
00:13:31.200 alberta's government will continue to prioritize tourism because we know that tourism means jobs
00:13:36.960 and careers by investing to develop new products and experiences we are creating economic
00:13:43.680 opportunities across alberta and we're helping tourism operators show visitors we know that
00:13:50.960 what we already know about this province that is alberta and alberta is the best place to live
00:13:56.080 to play and to visit and ask who does it better than us nobody thank you very much
00:14:10.480 all right great job thank you very much minister scowl uh next i'd like to welcome
00:14:15.040 the CEO of TELUS Spark, Mr. Roderick Tate. Sir, come on up. Thank you.

00:14:33.440 It's my great pleasure to welcome all of you today and also to express our gratitude and
00:14:37.840 thanks to the province of Alberta for their generous support of the great work that we
00:14:42.960 that we get to participate in, in Alberta here.
00:14:45.960 Specifically through the Travel Alberta's Tourism Growth Fund,
00:14:49.960 it allowed for us to welcome our newest robot to our robot family.
00:14:53.960 And behind me here is Rosie, the first ever robot coaster in Canada.
00:14:58.960 Yes, not only is Rosie an amazing marvel of engineering and innovation,
00:15:03.960 it's downright fun.
00:15:05.960 And again, it really demonstrates not only the culture and personality
00:15:08.960 of who we are as Albertans, but gives us an opportunity to engage with people
00:15:12.960 of all walks of life to discuss with them share with them and open conversations about why science
00:15:18.880 is important to all of us and not only do we want to take that message and share it with our community
00:15:24.400 we want to extend that across the planet and it's through initiatives like these that allow
00:15:28.640 us to continue to again demonstrate Albertans and our our innovation and our ability to be
00:15:35.280 creative in the way that we engage in meaningful conversations you know we do believe that at the
00:15:41.520 center of everything here it's an intersection of science and entertainment it inspires people from
00:15:47.200 all walks of life again to be engaged in conversations and these conversations really
00:15:52.320 start to foster a sense of curiosity and we believe that curiosity here is very important
00:15:58.560 at telespark it's the foundation of learning discovery and innovation it really is the
00:16:04.560 heartbeat of science and we believe so much in curiosity well we've got a capital campaign in
00:16:10.000 which we want to continue to build on that we're actively pursuing 45 million dollars for us to
00:16:15.120 continue to champion that message to build on incredible successes like this pro uh this uh
00:16:20.880 rosie behind us here and for us to continue to demonstrate how alberta is a place for all to
00:16:26.960 come and celebrate and enjoy as a part of the tourism economy and making alberta a great
00:16:32.400 destination so again i want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the province of alberta
00:16:37.520 and all of our guests who come and join us on a day-to-day basis and thank you for that support

00:17:04.320 that create amazing experiences that we have in calgary and really right across this province and
00:17:09.120 the outstanding work that minister minister scow and his team does on a daily basis alberta is

00:17:21.520 canadians and quite frankly the rest of the world to create lifelong memories in every corner of our
