The City of Calgary has reached agreements in principle with the Province of Alberta, Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation, and Calgary Stampede to proceed with the Rivers District Master Plan, supporting the development of Calgary s Culture and Entertainment District. Council approved these agreements, in principle, just this afternoon, in a unanimous vote. This is a generational investment in placemaking, creating space for community to gather. This entertainment hub will feature a new event centre and community arena, along with critical infrastructure required to support growth and development. We will be able to improve transportation connections, including the 6th Street underpass and multiple street and public realm improvements.
