00:00:00.000 Your line is open.
00:00:02.000 Hi, Ms. Notley, I was hoping I could ask you a question.
00:00:06.000 I want to switch gears for a minute if I could.
00:00:09.000 I host a daily agriculture show, and I wanted to ask you a question about Bill 6.
00:00:13.000 As you know, it led to a number of protests throughout the province who were premier.
00:00:18.000 Several committees were formed to study the bill more closely.
00:00:21.000 If the NDP forms government again late next month, would you be reintroducing a bill similar to Bill 6?
00:00:28.000 There's no question that we remain concerned about safety for farm workers all across the province.
00:00:35.000 That's a really important issue.
00:00:36.000 I think that became super clear during COVID.
00:00:39.000 No question about that.
00:00:41.000 And as you know, when the UCP undid Bill 6, they also undid a whole bunch of other things.
00:00:47.000 Like, for instance, a minimum wage.
00:00:49.000 A lot of people don't know that farm workers in Alberta actually aren't necessarily entitled to be paid the minimum wage
00:00:57.000 under the UCP regime.
00:00:59.000 And that seems a bit inappropriate.
00:01:02.000 So, we would be looking at it, but you know, we learned from last time.
00:01:06.000 And we know that we need to consult with farmers and employers in that sector.
00:01:15.000 We know that we had made good progress after the fact last time in terms of having a whole bunch of,
00:01:22.000 reaching a lot of agreement with key leaders within the sector.
00:01:25.000 And so, we would go back to where that work had left off.
00:01:28.000 And then we would hope to be able to move forward on some elements of it after we've had a chance to really talk with folks.
