Justin Trudeau and the coalition with the NDP want to ban hunting, but criminals bring in smuggled guns from across the border, not hunters. What would you do if you were a Canadian politician and you wanted to see more gun control?

00:00:00.000 Paige Parsons with CBC. Several of the incidents you mentioned, they're gun violence, and the
00:00:05.600 public inquiry into the worst mass shooting in Canada's history is calling for stricter gun
00:00:10.200 regulations. Their recommendations touch on cross-border gun smuggling and also restricting
00:00:15.620 high-capacity firearms and ammunition. And would you support the government if they brought in
00:00:21.080 some of the commission's recommendations? What we need to do is stop going after hunters
00:00:26.520 and start going after criminals. The shooting that you referred to was done with smuggled
00:00:33.420 guns, not legal firearms. So Justin Trudeau and the crazy coalition with the NDP want to
00:00:41.080 ban hunters. But hunters aren't committing the crime. It's criminals who bring in smuggled
00:00:47.460 guns from across the border. So here's my common sense plan. Instead of spending $5 billion buying
00:00:55.680 back hunting rifles from law-abiding hunters, I'm going to put that money into reinforcing
00:01:01.880 our borders to stop the flow of illegal guns coming from the United States which are responsible 1.00
00:01:09.540 for over 80% of the gun violence that occurs in this country. And I'm going to reinstate
00:01:16.680 mandatory jail time for repeat gun criminals so that we take those criminals off the streets
00:01:23.640 and put them behind bars where they can no longer do harm. And I would point out to the
00:01:27.480 CBC one last thing that's very obvious to everyone but Justin Trudeau and the CBC. And
00:01:33.460 that is banning hunting rifles will not stop knife crimes. I just listed a whole series of crimes
00:01:41.020 that were committed with knives. Banning a rural hunter from carrying out a great Canadian heritage
00:01:49.120 of the outdoors is not going to stop stabbings on the LRT system in Calgary or Toronto. Let's
00:01:56.160 go after the problem and stop with the distractions. I should also point out that the approach just
00:02:02.000 advocated by the CBC to go after hunters has been tried. That's what Trudeau has been doing
00:02:09.300 for eight years. And what is the result? A 32% increase in violence and crime. It hasn't worked. We
00:02:16.900 need to go after the criminals, not the hunters.
