00:00:00.000 Well, we've got some good news already on the website and more to come, Corey.
00:00:03.240 We've got the first poll in the UCP leadership race out today via Angus Reid,
00:00:08.860 showing its neck-and-neck race at the moment between Brian Jean and Danielle Smith.
00:00:14.460 Smith with 24% of the voters' support, Jean with 23%,
00:00:19.460 and the only other one above 10% is Travis Taves, and I think he's coming in at 13%.
00:00:26.240 So early days yet, Corey, but it looks like a two-horse race at the moment.
00:00:31.860 Significant development in Europe today where the European Union has given approval for the Ukraine to join them
00:00:41.260 if certain conditions are met, and, of course, Crazy Vlad not happy with that.
00:00:47.080 Our Eva Sudwick has the story on his reaction.
00:00:50.300 Our Arthur Green has got a great story, actually, on a Prince Rupert gentleman
00:00:58.180 who's a huge collector of Marvel comics and paraphernalia memorabilia.
00:01:03.820 He was a victim of a home invasion robbery this week in which he was hit on the head with a hammer
00:01:09.900 and was stabbed and really in a fight for his life.
00:01:14.320 And his wonder dog, Baloo, Rottweiler, chased the bad guys away and even bit one of them.
00:01:23.320 So that's good fun.
00:01:25.380 So we got – what else do we got?
00:01:27.920 Oh, we got Air Cadet Captain down in Ottawa charged with sexual offences against children.
00:01:34.040 And our Linda Slobodian, Manitoba political columnist, is working on charges laid after a multi-year investigation
00:01:41.760 into a residential school out there.
00:01:44.920 A 92-year-old priest has been charged with sexual offences against a 10-year-old girl at the time.
00:01:51.760 So that'll be coming up shortly and lots of other good stuff I can't tip you off to at the moment.
00:01:58.140 Great. Well, lots on the go, lots leading into the weekend.
00:02:01.160 So, well, we'll look forward to it as it comes out.
00:02:04.660 And, well, may the next rainstorm knock your chickadee population down. 0.87
00:02:09.880 I'm not hopeful, Corey. I need something.
00:02:13.340 All right. Thanks, Dave. I'll talk to you later.
00:02:15.540 Have a good weekend, Corey.
00:02:16.800 All right.
00:02:17.780 So, yes, lots on the go, and this is what I'd like to remind everybody.
00:02:20.580 I posted a picture earlier, actually, on Twitter.
00:02:23.340 If people follow me on there, Corey B. Morgan, if you really want to get the fights going with me,
00:02:27.060 that's the place where I like to have it out.
00:02:28.280 But it was a picture of all the gear laid out.
00:02:31.420 Nico's been hard at work.
00:02:32.440 We have a bunch of camera gear, microphones, all that sort of stuff.
00:02:35.060 We're expanding across the country for our reporters, giving them better media packages
00:02:39.800 so they can really get that unique content out there and get it to you guys.
00:02:43.800 And the reason we're expanding, the reason we've got so many reporters,
00:02:46.700 is because you guys have been subscribing.
00:02:49.180 So thank you to the thousands of people who have subscribed.
00:02:51.340 And if you haven't subscribed already, guys, get on board.
00:02:54.800 $99 a year, $10 a month if you're just going month by month.
00:03:00.000 And this is how we stay as independent media.
00:03:01.620 This is how we can keep getting those reporters, keep getting that unique content,
00:03:05.720 keep getting those columns.
00:03:06.680 There's that picture.
00:03:07.600 It looks a little strange there with all those big bags.
00:03:09.700 But, yeah, it's got cameras, tripods, microphones, data cards, all of that stuff.
00:03:13.540 So we will be bringing more and more to you.
00:03:15.580 And you don't have to rely on that wretched legacy media such as the CBC or CTV
00:03:21.640 or any of those ones who are basically beholden to the government.
00:03:25.200 So, again, thank you to those who subscribed.
00:03:28.120 And if you haven't already, get on board, guys.
00:03:30.160 And, hey, if you're looking to advertise, that's the other way.
00:03:32.600 I'll go into ads later, but reach out to me.
00:03:35.440 Get your brand or product on the show or get it on the website.
00:03:38.380 We're capitalists.
00:03:39.200 This is how we can keep these things rolling.
00:03:40.560 As Marilyn mentioned in the comments, yes, so it looks like the debate is back on.
00:03:46.440 It's a scaled-down version.
00:03:47.480 So the Western Standard was going to host a debate.
00:03:49.520 It was going to be a very large affair.
00:03:51.400 We were going to have the works of them out here.
00:03:53.840 One of the candidates pulled out.
00:03:55.420 It led to some problems, and we had to defer or basically cancel it.
00:03:58.800 But now there's a new one scheduled, and it will be held without that candidate
00:04:03.200 at the Petroleum Club on July 8th.
00:04:06.040 So it will be in the afternoon.
00:04:07.440 It's a Friday afternoon during Stampede Week.
00:04:09.240 And right now it's $25 a ticket you can get there.
00:04:12.580 And plus there will be a cocktail period afterwards where you could rub shoulders with
00:04:17.000 and meet some of those candidates perhaps in chat and listen to them where it's going
00:04:20.740 to be a Western-focused debate.
00:04:22.060 Of course, it's the Western Standard.
00:04:23.180 So we're going to talk about a lot of those local issues, things that are important to
00:04:27.060 us.
00:04:27.700 So I'm sorry.
00:04:31.120 I let those comments distract me.
00:04:32.540 I'll respond to you in a minute, Jet.
00:04:34.280 But so, yes, the debate's on.
00:04:36.440 Have a look on the website there, the Western Standard.
00:04:38.660 You can buy your tickets.
00:04:39.440 I guess half of them are already sold out.
00:04:41.960 So, you know, for $25, it's a good afternoon at the Petroleum Club.
00:04:45.380 You can have a look around in that storied establishment in downtown Calgary.
00:04:49.840 Anyways.
