Western Standard - Trump slaps more tariffs on Canada

00:00:00.000 hey welcome back to this beautiful

00:00:29.840 afternoon in calgary uh it's a hot one out there uh if i wasn't doing the show today i would be

00:00:37.360 out on the river but i'll do that tomorrow i'm gonna head out on the river and go for a float

00:00:42.220 um you know before uh lots to talk about again today lots to talk about and as i've said many

00:00:49.760 times we're this is a call-in show please uh call in number uh john the producer will put the number

00:00:56.600 down on the screen and here in a second but uh don't be shy call uh let me know where you're

00:01:01.960 calling from name and what you want to talk about the show is about you guys right now i mean we're

00:01:06.040 making it about current events it's been a busy week and we got lots to talk about uh i want to

00:01:11.080 talk about the the new tariffs the premier's meeting in pei um the secrecy around the gordy

00:01:19.480 how bridge uh deal uh and and the bridge reopening uh what else inflation uh the weird viral incident

00:01:28.920 of the guy with the kerpan at the uh at the gym there at the good life gym and things like that

00:01:35.080 so but before we dive too deep into the show quickly uh just just a reminder um unfortunate

00:01:42.440 event going on in calgary like i think we're on day seven or eight a young boy named parker wells

00:01:49.480 has been missing um parker is diagnosed on the autism spectrum and his parents are worried that

00:02:00.160 he might have wandered off and he has a tendency to go hide and he might and close doors behind

00:02:06.340 him and he might be hiding somewhere closing a door behind him he might be in the shed he might

00:02:12.640 be he could be anywhere and so the search is ongoing so if you have any uh information anything

00:02:19.460 You know, there's websites, there's places, there's even calls for volunteers, I guess, to go do some looking.

00:02:28.780 My kids are all grown and luckily I had very healthy kids, but I did have an adventurous youngster.

00:02:38.040 So my youngest, Raymond, went missing twice, two memorable times in our life.

00:02:43.480 and one of them was when we were camping uh we were camping up by dunvegan up in the peace river

00:02:49.560 area he was the youngest at the time he was about three or four and his sister his oldest sister is

00:02:56.760 you know seven eight years older than him so 11. the kids were gone went for a walk around the

00:03:01.720 campground sarah comes back with nick and patrick and i said like where's your brother raymond and

00:03:08.760 sarah kind of looked at me like i don't know i'm like what do you mean you don't know he was with

00:03:12.440 you you know and i and i don't blame her i mean it wasn't necessarily it wasn't her responsibility

00:03:17.720 to look after raymond but anyways we mobilized everybody in the campground to go looking for

00:03:22.280 raymond and eventually we found raymond had wandered down by one of the creeks and was you

00:03:27.080 know throwing rocks in the creek but but you know those those few minutes where we were looking for

00:03:32.360 him were frantic and gut-wrenching and uh i can't imagine what's going through the minds of uh of

00:03:39.240 parker's parents so uh good luck with that and i hope it comes out with a happy ending um all right

00:03:45.800 so i listen i'm gonna jump right into it um you know the the title of the show today uh trump

00:03:51.960 slaps more tariffs on canada we got to talk about that we got to talk about that i mean it's it's a

00:03:58.760 it's a year and a half we're in a trade war and we're losing the trade war but but i want to go

00:04:03.720 back to to sort of the beginnings and I want to ask people a question right have you ever you know

00:04:10.900 have you ever taken something have you ever received a benefit that you didn't pay for like

00:04:16.760 I don't know have you ever you know used somebody else's wi-fi you got a neighbor who didn't secure

00:04:22.080 their wi-fi and you got to use their wi-fi or back in the good old days maybe you lived in an

00:04:26.300 apartment with a with a bunch of people and you had you know coax splitters and you would split

00:04:31.960 cable uh have you ever gone to work like do you have an employer somewhere that provides you with

00:04:40.040 a plug-in for your car and over the year and you've bought yourself an electric car and now

00:04:45.320 you plug in your car there even though the plug-in was just to keep your car warm uh or maybe

00:04:51.320 somebody's taking advantage of you right maybe you know maybe you're the person who has a nice boat

00:04:56.520 you had a nice boat at the lake and nobody else has a boat at the lake and for years everybody

00:05:00.920 took uh you know jumped on your boat went for rides on the boat if you went out water skiing

00:05:05.560 you invited people and you never asked for a dime for that boat but you certainly appreciate it if

00:05:10.920 somebody said you know here's 20 bucks for gas for after an afternoon of water skiing right so

00:05:18.040 people have been on the receiving end of that or on the giving end and and then all of a sudden

00:05:21.960 you know what happens when when the neighbor suddenly says hey uh uh i'm not i'm not gonna

00:05:27.720 give i put a password on the wi-fi and then you get upset because your neighbor put a password

00:05:33.400 on the wi-fi and you're no longer getting free wi-fi well is that you know what what's the

00:05:40.200 situation there well i think the situation there i'm getting to something that's what to me that's

00:05:46.520 what happened with the us when donald trump got elected okay so donald trump got elected

00:05:51.400 two years ago and donald trump has always said it clearly that um he felt in that a lot of nations

00:05:59.480 around the world had been taken advantage of the of their goodwill but in particular he he turned

00:06:06.040 and he pointed fingers at us at canada right so we uh we live north of the u.s so we're granted

00:06:14.120 huge protection right sure we we you know we we had our own military but in reality if somebody

00:06:20.200 if the russians came over the arctic and invaded us the americans would be there the americans are

00:06:25.160 the ones who patrolled the the coast the north and the atlantic and and the arctic and protected

00:06:32.440 vessels when when we have a ship that's transporting goods from from japan back to canada or vice versa

00:06:39.000 and those ships are in international waters and they get in distress they're calling americans

00:06:44.040 canadians are calling on americans all the time um the anyway so lots of things lots of examples

00:06:51.000 of that you know american car manufacturing having divisions in the in canada and building cars here

00:06:57.240 and so forth so donald trump gets elected and and he's got a he's got a beef right he he doesn't

00:07:05.240 like the trade imbalance between our two countries okay there's always going to be a trade imbalance

00:07:10.440 but he doesn't but in his mind it's it's less than it's worse than it should be so there's a

00:07:15.720 trade imbalance uh we are opening he's opening his border he's allowing canadian banks to do

00:07:22.480 business in canada but we don't reciprocate uh we have two you know we force his manufacturers

00:07:28.960 to provide services that are bilingual there's the dairy cartel there's all sorts of things right so

00:07:34.320 trump is just upset and he gets elected and he's mandated by his people to reform their economy

00:07:41.840 turn things around bring back manufacturing into the u.s and make america great again and

00:07:48.800 and that for us it's unfortunate it had a negative consequence on us right right away but to me that

00:07:57.520 should have just been a wake-up call okay it's just a wake-up call we were lucky we got the

00:08:02.800 free internet we were lucky for years and finally when when the neighbor says enough is enough and

00:08:08.640 i'm not giving you the free internet so donald trump says enough is enough i'm not letting you

00:08:12.720 just build cars and and export and re-export them back to my country uh at a higher cost i'm going

00:08:20.720 to put an end to that and i'm going to put tariffs on your products well i was always of the opinion

00:08:27.360 that we shouldn't retaliate with tariffs that that was a wake-up call and that we should have just

00:08:32.080 used it as an opportunity to smarten up and get more efficient but canada decided to retaliate

00:08:40.700 with tariffs and so there's only and there's only a handful of countries at the and at the beginning

00:08:45.560 trump didn't just pick on canada he picked on a lot of countries broadly and he implied imposed

00:08:51.640 tariffs on a lot of nations and by the way a tariff is not a penalty on us on the exporting

00:08:58.080 nation it's a penalty on his own country right so when he put a tariff on um you know call it uh

00:09:04.560 lumber he's not punishing us per se he's saying to the americans find a cheaper place to buy your

00:09:11.120 lumber but now in effect once the tariffs in place yes we might lose a bit of market share but what's

00:09:18.400 our incentive if the tariff is 10 then reduce your cost by 10 and stay competitive so donald

00:09:24.240 trump was a wake-up call but and it was a wake-up call to a lot of nations and a lot of nations

00:09:30.320 responded in a very positive way they said yeah yeah sorry sorry we agree and and we're going to

00:09:35.920 rectify things we'll we'll we'll buy more from you guys we'll adjust the trade imbalance and so forth

00:09:40.880 and so forth but then you got canada that doubles down and immediately says no we're going to impose

00:09:45.680 tariffs on you counter tariffs we're going to strike back and then you got carny going over

00:09:51.360 the top saying you know the relationship is forever damaged and we can't count on the americans

00:09:56.080 anymore and we're going to start the new world order and and uh and and antagonize and then you

00:10:01.920 got doug ford who stepped in right remember doug ford like a year ago pouring uh um you know

00:10:09.520 running ads in the u.s during the the world series criticizing donald trump and so forth and so forth

00:10:15.600 and and this rhetoric between our two nations has kept on going and trump hasn't changed

00:10:21.960 his stance fundamentally he keeps repeating it that you know he doesn't well there's a couple

00:10:28.320 of things he doesn't like he doesn't one of the things he really doesn't like is the dairy cartel

00:10:32.520 the fact that we are protecting a small uh industry in that's that's really only in a

00:10:38.660 couple of provinces we're protecting the dairy cartel in quebec and ontario and and trump doesn't

00:10:44.820 like that and by the way i i think that if we stop protecting the dairy cartel our own dairy farmers

00:10:51.060 would still do fine because as long as you produce like there's a there's a demand people want good

00:10:56.400 milk good cheese good yogurt and things like that and our you know our government our our farmers

00:11:02.320 always are proud of the fact that we have i don't know less antibiotics in it and less growth

00:11:07.680 hormones and it's whatever it's a more organic milk if that's the case and that's what people

00:11:12.620 want then you should be able to compete on an open market so and the dairy cartel keeps coming up all

00:11:17.740 the time all the time all the time so we've had this back and forth and and originally when carney

00:11:24.220 was running to get elected this served him well right he had an instant boogeyman south of him

00:11:30.700 he's got donald trump who's attacking canada it's a wake-up call fall folks he wasn't attacking

00:11:38.140 canada but the liberals played it that way that trump was attacking us and carney was the man

00:11:44.780 that could stand up to trump and carney played that card at the beginning and it got him it was

00:11:51.180 popular and it got him votes and and it helped them win an election but he's been playing that

00:11:56.220 card over and over and over and over and now it's become this stubborn battle and it's a stubborn

00:12:02.140 battle that we're going to lose because the u.s economy is 13 times 14 times bigger than us and

00:12:09.020 it's so don't call it giving in to the americans we're not giving in to the americans we have to

00:12:14.320 be realistic they are our number one trader geographically they're right next door and

00:12:19.880 if their demands we kind of have to meet their demands which some people call it bullying but

00:12:25.780 it it's it's just that they're in a better bargaining position and they're taking advantage

00:12:30.720 are the better bargaining position so we're not capitulating to the americans when we if we had

00:12:37.440 just simply accepted the tariff and became more competitive not initially and that's the way most

00:12:44.000 countries approached it but canada went with strict tariffs and so did china and this battle

00:12:49.200 is ongoing so this battle is ongoing and so this week we just had another week where where trump

00:12:54.800 announced more tariffs and and so the original um now remember we have a trade deal between

00:13:01.760 canada the us and mexico the can the the kumsa or the usmca whichever country you're from

00:13:08.320 whatever acronym you want and so trump wants to impose tariffs luckily that trade deal is in place

00:13:15.520 and it limits the goods and services that he can tariff but despite that this week he announced

00:13:22.240 another round of really big tariffs on another on a on a whole bunch of products from canada

00:13:28.640 he did this to canada now he didn't do this to mexico he didn't do this to another any other

00:13:32.720 countries he singled out canada okay that should tell you a lot he singled us out and these tariffs

00:13:40.240 go into place on august 19th and about three weeks from now and look at what our country is doing

00:13:46.480 again right we are doubling down on the rhetoric rather than addressing trump's initial concerns

00:13:55.200 his initial concerns are simple right we should just get rid of the the dairy cartel by the way

00:14:01.280 we can't even do that now one of the first things that carney did when he got elected is they passed

00:14:05.920 bill i believe it's c2 or maybe c3 one of the very very very uh initial bills passed by our government

00:14:13.680 explicitly states in the bill that in any ongoing trade negotiations the dairy cartel is off the

00:14:21.960 table that's how entrenched that dairy cartel is in in uh in canadian um politics like it's

00:14:30.720 untouchable and and it's yeah okay enough on the dairy cartels but so we're not addressing the

00:14:36.640 original uh complaints another original complaint that trump had was that we weren't spending enough

00:14:43.460 on defense that he was picking up the cost for most of nato and he wanted countries like ours

00:14:50.100 to increase our spending as a percentage of gdp from two to five percent a pretty reasonable

00:14:56.140 request certainly in canada in light of the fact that our military has pretty much been decimated

00:15:00.900 for the last couple of decades right so and how could we have addressed that initial complaint by

00:15:07.340 trump well look we're miss we don't have navy our boat our fleet of boats is is in disrepair we don't

00:15:14.860 have any vehicles anymore because we lost them all in afghanistan we don't have any tanks our

00:15:19.180 snowbirds can't even fly okay so we need military spending and what do we do normally in canada

00:15:26.380 we study problems to death and we make ridiculous requirements and we engage in competitive bidding

00:15:32.860 and then we we end up buying stuff from other nations that's not off the shelf that's customized

00:15:38.620 that's overpriced that's complicated that's expensive that often doesn't work and what we

00:15:44.620 could have done quickly when trump brought up these issues is we could have just gone to the u.s

00:15:49.740 and said you're right donald we're not spending enough money on defense um how about we buy i

00:15:55.420 don't know 30 f-16s from you or f-18s and how about we buy two uh harleyberg class battleship

00:16:03.820 or not battleships destroyers and maybe one submarine and a whole bunch of whatever armored

00:16:09.900 personnel carriers we could have done a quick deal like that but what are we doing even there even

00:16:15.020 even in the process of of of ramping up we just announced that we're buying submarines from from

00:16:21.820 germany which to me is a lose lose lose right we're pissed we continue to antagonize trump

00:16:27.420 we're not helping any if if we wanted at least we could have at least uh if we're going to

00:16:33.420 antagonize trump we might as well help our own local industry and buy locally we didn't even

00:16:37.740 buy locally we didn't buy the cheapest of the best subs which would have been to buy from the koreans

00:16:42.700 but instead we go to europe and we buy german subs you know what i mean so it's lose lose lose

00:16:47.340 lose and and trump's watching this and he's he's picking up on this so he imposes these tariffs this

00:16:52.060 week and and then how does canada respond you have doug ford standing on stage yesterday and the day

00:16:59.820 before almost daily now doug ford is on stage um being critical of of trump still and then and then

00:17:08.940 this week in particular we had a a first minister's meeting in uh pei so all the

00:17:16.140 premiers of the of the country got together in pei and you'd think that our that our premiers

00:17:21.500 would be preoccupied with this and that this is what they would be focused on but what did they

00:17:26.780 discuss while they were there well i mean they still talked about health care and transfer

00:17:33.020 payments and the threat of alberta independence and a few other things like that they never they

00:17:37.900 never really addressed the plan to to deal with trump and to respond to his initial concerns

00:17:45.900 and then what do we get out of pi this week we get another mou we get an mou now that the

00:17:51.580 provinces are going to work together to further eliminate inter-provincial trade barriers

00:17:56.460 specifically those around booze like like alcohol so the the whole country is in trouble with the

00:18:05.100 americans and we're and our premiers are talking about alcohol like it's dominating the news this

00:18:10.220 week dominating the news is is david eby in british columbia saying there will be no american booze

00:18:17.340 on british columbian shelves and on and and doug ford in ontario saying almost the same thing by

00:18:22.940 the way just just just for that after this show on my way home tonight i'm gonna go stop and i'm

00:18:28.300 luckily we live in alberta where we still have uh private liquor stores i'm gonna go film in

00:18:34.940 one of those private liquor stores what the american section looks like i'm pretty sure

00:18:38.540 it's well stocked and i'm going to go find myself a nice american bourbon and that's not because

00:18:43.020 i'm anti-canadian i'm i'm yeah i'm i'm canadian i'm definitely pro-albertan i drink my fair share

00:18:50.220 of alberta whiskeys but in this instance just to spite doug ford and david eby i'm going to go buy

00:18:56.220 myself a nice american bourbon for tonight um and and and i mean and it doesn't even stop there like

00:19:03.420 today this morning there was somebody there was an interview and there was a wine a winery owner

00:19:10.940 in british columbia who was on being interviewed by the cbc and he let out a big secret out of the

00:19:17.740 he let the cat out of the bag i don't know where that expression came from but he literally said

00:19:22.460 that despite he's from bc and he said despite tariffs from the u.s it's still cheaper for him

00:19:31.340 as a canadian winemaker to do business with the u.s than it is for him to do business with the

00:19:37.100 rest of canada like let that sink in right so okay folks i've talked like my opening monologue was a

00:19:44.300 little bit longer than i wanted to i'm sure like what what are your guys's thoughts on on on pei

00:19:51.740 on trump on uh doug ford david eby maybe this mou right i mean the mou like the mou i'm beginning

00:20:00.460 to hate the word mou memorandum of understanding like it's getting uh to me now the mou at this

00:20:06.780 point is basically when um when nothing concrete can be accomplished let's let's sign an mou right

00:20:13.580 so mou now between uh danielle smith and and mark carney now there's going to be mous between all

00:20:20.540 the premiers and and don't get me started on the fact that we we shouldn't even need an mou right

00:20:27.340 that's the whole that's fundamentally shows the flaw of of a country you know of confederation

00:20:34.220 when provinces have to negotiate so hard just to uh just to advance projects uh who said that so i

00:20:43.100 got a sign on the or a chat on the screen he said memorandum of uselessness great interview who said

00:20:49.820 that was that the was that the uh wine person talking this morning look at all the acronyms

00:20:55.820 for mou i got mostly optics useless um mou equals kick the can down the road yeah okay cool um

00:21:08.220 jesse and gp says someone better call or you'll have to hear my diatribes again no one wants that

00:21:14.620 hey no no i mean it's okay to have regulars i appreciate having regulars who call uh or comment

00:21:22.220 all the time uh jess if you want to call give give me a buzz but yeah you know um

00:21:30.380 yeah doug ford what do i say okay well so let me continue on that topic right

00:21:35.660 so here's the uh so i wish i wish we could play clips oh just lost the screen there john what

00:21:42.620 happened okay that's the big screen's gone the little screen's still here um uh there was a clip

00:21:48.540 uh there was a clip of doug ford basically making these veil threats right so doug ford had a clip

00:21:56.340 where he said we have to i can't remember his exact words um we have to not retaliate but

00:22:02.540 almost like we have to annihilate the americans john did i lose the caller or call on the line

00:22:08.400 all right go ahead caller marty yes hello marty yes marty hey how are you doing good good 0.80

00:22:18.480 it's diane from devon hi diane another regular yeah um so i mean you just went through the whole

00:22:30.400 list of everything and you made my blood pressure go up again i was having a nice relaxing afternoon

00:22:37.860 sorry about that it's it's okay it's okay it's it's it's our lives um so it's it's being

00:22:47.300 that's managed to a degree that like we've never seen before what is the end game because the

00:22:56.460 train's going down the track and it's going to derail at some point so what is what is the end

00:23:06.420 game um for i mean the independence um that we support aside what is the end game with carney

00:23:18.920 and all these people so what what what is it let me clarify so you're asking me what my end game is

00:23:25.340 or what do i think carney's end game is the end game for canada the the people who are mismanaging

00:23:32.780 it and and really we we can't do anything about it we're just getting dragged along while this

00:23:40.180 game is being played whatever game it is yeah what is their end game yeah i think that i think

00:23:46.580 they've told us what their end game is right their end game is is things like the un agenda 2030

00:23:52.380 um and and agendas and the agenda of the klaus schwabs of the world and the world economic forum

00:24:00.000 Right. Their end game is that there's these weird, evil people that envision a different world where they're in power and we're all subservient.

00:24:10.780 And and there's countries like Canada that are the testing grounds for this.

00:24:15.780 Right. If we're an easy country to capture, we're letting ourselves be captured.

00:24:19.640 We're letting ourselves be led down this evil path. And I think that's the end game.

00:24:24.200 there's there's look at the un agenda 20 it's at 2030 it's a it's a redistribution of wealth

00:24:30.040 it's a world without borders it's um it's it's it's it's a form of socialism on steroid where

00:24:40.440 the average person will own nothing and be happy all those sentences that we used to think was just

00:24:46.440 um people with bad intentions they're coming true and we're realizing that they're more powerful

00:24:52.940 than we thought like it it's it's playing out i think do you agree or do you see it differently

00:24:59.820 absolutely absolutely i'm and and donald trump is the stumbling block yes because donald trump

00:25:09.100 is for his country you might hate him you might hate his rhetoric blah blah blah you might hate

00:25:15.020 a lot of things about him but he is he's the only one standing up because britain and the eu

00:25:23.900 and canada you're absolutely right we have like everybody in the cabinet is a young global leader

00:25:31.420 anybody knows what that is yeah yeah that's in the cabinet you brought up a point that i didn't

00:25:38.460 sorry diane you brought up a point that i didn't even have on my list for today which is uh um

00:25:43.740 um uh care starmer from uh from england stepped down and then they replaced him with a guy who

00:25:50.320 makes the carney look almost like uh tame so a lot every country's going down this path and

00:25:57.240 and anytime there's resistance yes and they're friends carney and burnham are a burn bomb or

00:26:04.900 burnham they're they know each other they've been previous associates in in business 100% yeah and

00:26:12.040 and and then carney like don't be surprised if carney like carney to me looks like he's kind

00:26:16.920 of failing down this path and i wouldn't be surprised if carney doesn't last a full four

00:26:20.920 years and um and then and then they'll just put somebody else in place to try and finish the job

00:26:26.760 but they don't have anybody right now right there's nobody but yeah no we're on the same page

00:26:31.480 now just to finish on your question just to finish on your question i think you and i and a bunch of

00:26:37.240 us in alberta have identified what's going on right and that's one of the things we've always

00:26:41.000 said like when as an albertan why am i for independence because we're seeing this this

00:26:47.400 madness in the rest of the country and we're like we got to protect ourselves from this madness and

00:26:51.640 one of the only ways we can do it is by separating and and and forming your own country to try and

00:26:57.720 resist it i i mean i hope i hope we can resist and i hope it's not futile but but that's why

00:27:03.080 i'm a separatist i i see what's happening in the rest of canada and there's nothing changing them

00:27:07.320 like they they know yeah I think honestly Marty there's a lot of people in Alberta who are going

00:27:19.300 to vote yes I think there's a lot of people that when you were doing your your campaign a lot of

00:27:28.680 people didn't want to show up because people were afraid but every day things get worse and worse

00:27:35.700 works with all the censorship and and and so on so on like everything and i think there's a lot

00:27:41.860 of people who are gonna stand up and vote yes there's a still a group of people though that

00:27:49.940 they don't even all these issues that you've just talked about and i have just addressed

00:27:54.820 there's a lot of people who say because i start the conversation and just the most minor thing

00:28:04.260 they either don't know or they do not want to know they are willing to let that train hit that cement

00:28:12.100 wall and then they're going to say what happened but they don't want to know what it all this is

00:28:18.820 that's going on it stresses them out or it upsets them or it's not the canada that they love and

00:28:24.340 so on so forth awesome uh well i appreciate thanks for calling in hopefully you broke the

00:28:28.820 ice for the rest of the gang and other people will call in today have a great day diane

00:28:32.420 yeah you as well take care of yourself cheers um yeah she brings up a bunch of good points but i

00:28:40.920 just want to go back to um i i want to go back to that the alberta independence was on the topic

00:28:48.320 this week uh in pi but i i want to talk about how um how suddenly everybody wants alberta on

00:28:57.680 team canada and i keep saying this like they want us on team canada when it's convenient

00:29:02.000 and then as soon as it's inconvenient they'll kick us off the team right like they that that's

00:29:07.320 that's my opinion and this week was another example of that Doug Ford Doug Ford's been in

00:29:12.920 front of the mic all week long and keep keep putting the mic on him folks because every time

00:29:17.080 he talks like it's comedy and so he he had the mic on him today and he was or yesterday and like

00:29:23.600 I said I can't find the exact words but he was saying something like along the lines of we can't

00:29:28.180 take it sitting down from trump we need to like retaliate and annihilate like he was using that

00:29:34.500 kind of language right and and and then and then he went from there and talking about we

00:29:41.180 how he was going to do that and will annihilate them by denying them you know energy and power

00:29:47.480 and stuff like that and right away everybody who was listening to him especially from alberta were 0.70

00:29:52.280 like doug those are things you don't even have right and and so doug ford that doug doug i'm

00:30:00.540 talking to you man you have no oasis up your sleeve in terms of how you're going to deal with 0.63

00:30:05.700 donald trump you have nothing that donald trump needs nothing maybe you got a little bit of you

00:30:13.480 got a bit of critical minerals you got some copper maybe up in northern ontario and you got a few

00:30:19.080 things but fundamentally what does donald trump need that he can't supply himself and then he can't

00:30:26.560 get quickly from other places you're on to something doug donald trump needs oil the u.s is

00:30:32.140 a net importer of oil so they need like 12 million barrels of oil per day that they consume and they

00:30:38.100 produce about 10 so they need two from somewhere else so they get it from us they actually get more

00:30:42.700 from us than the two they buy four and then they resell a couple so they're a net importer of oil

00:30:48.340 so they need our oil and they can't replace that quickly with anywhere anybody else's oil not

00:30:52.700 venezuela's not nobody else's that just takes time they need natural gas from us they produce a lot

00:30:58.560 of natural gas and they export natural gas but they're doing the same thing the americans are

00:31:02.320 doing the same thing we are they're going down this ai path and they need to burn a lot of natural gas

00:31:06.940 to make electricity to power their ai facilities and uh and they're great at exporting but the

00:31:13.380 gulf of mexico is exporting like millions of metric tons of lng per year to uh europe so they'll

00:31:19.760 buy all the natural gas from us for cheap and resell it so they need that they need nuclear

00:31:24.460 okay they need uranium the americans don't produce uranium they really don't and they have this huge

00:31:31.860 fleet of they project their power around the world right they are aircraft carriers and they're

00:31:36.960 submarines and they project their power and their power is powered by nuclear energy so they need

00:31:44.080 uranium from us and they can't get that from anywhere else i mean they could get it from

00:31:47.640 russia doubt that's going to happen and then they can get it from other countries but it needs to

00:31:52.160 be enriched a lot more and it's different so we get the best uranium for them so so far i've said

00:31:58.340 oil natural gas that comes from alberta a little bit from bc uranium that comes from saskatchewan

00:32:04.280 the americans need potash okay potash is critical for growing stuff for growing carrots potatoes

00:32:12.520 corn whatever so they need potash and we're like the number one two or three producer of potash

00:32:18.840 on the planet the other ones is australia and places like kazakhstan or whatever so the americans

00:32:24.400 can't uh produce enough potash for themselves so they need to import it and they get it from us

00:32:30.540 and it's super critical it might as well be a critical mineral for them so they need potash and

00:32:35.980 then um what else do they need um that's about it they need a couple of other things but that

00:32:42.940 but almost everything else they can produce in sort of suitable quantities for themselves

00:32:47.180 so i mentioned four things well so and those four things i mentioned come from saskatchewan alberta

00:32:54.380 and a bit from british columbia quebec oh minerals yes let's go i mean we don't produce a lot of

00:33:01.020 rare earth minerals but we do produce quite a few important critical minerals that the americans need

00:33:06.560 um you know like the the tungsten and nickel and magnesium and lithium and some of those things

00:33:14.320 and um that they have the ability to source of from a few more places around the world but

00:33:21.440 they'd rather source it from us and again the minerals come from yeah northern quebec northern

00:33:26.920 ontario a little bit of places like that but i basically ranked them in order and so the americans

00:33:31.700 need that stuff from us and when doug ford was threatening the americans i'm sure trump was

00:33:37.180 laughing because trump knows that hey you personally dougie you don't have anything that i

00:33:42.720 need yeah dougie needs to sit down somebody that's exactly right and doug in his exact sentence

00:33:48.700 started mentioning the things i mentioned which is and then he appealed i knew i said yesterday i

00:33:54.680 said how long before doug ford appeals to alberta to jump on team canada and help out and what does

00:34:02.140 doug ford want us to do on team canada he wants us to take one he wants us to shoot ourselves in

00:34:09.040 the foot and he wants us to cut off the oil and the natural gas to the u.s he wants one he wants

00:34:14.380 us to take one for team canada hurt our own economy and take one for team canada so the

00:34:19.340 dougie can you know stick it to the americans luckily uh danielle smith today being interviewed

00:34:26.060 said you know she wants no part of that and i don't blame her and by the way that would actually

00:34:30.420 be uh an act of war like shutting off another nation's supply of energy even though it's done

00:34:37.260 as part of trade i mean that's how uh the americans and the japanese uh got into a conflict

00:34:42.760 that the uh you know in world war ii the americans cut off japan's oil supply so i'm not i i don't

00:34:48.760 think we should be cutting off america's oil or gas supply and uh it's potentially an act of war

00:34:55.880 and it would only hurt us and that and elevate things so all that to say that i don't like the

00:35:01.240 path that this is going down i think the solution is obvious which is you know uh lift the dairy

00:35:06.600 cartel which and i think the dairy cartels could take care of themselves buy some stuff from the

00:35:11.640 americans work on the imbalance lift the uh lift the um our tariffs and uh focus on becoming more

00:35:19.800 efficient but you know carney's refusing to do that and he's gonna keep being stubborn and and

00:35:25.960 go down this path for uh for as long as possible and i don't think it's going to end up well for us

00:35:32.440 uh where to go next um i got so many places i can go um let's actually let's let's just i'll

00:35:43.060 finish picking on carney i'll finish picking on carney and then i'll move on uh this week we're

00:35:48.160 getting so you guys know the story of the gordie howe bridge um back in about 2008 under the harper

00:35:56.820 government so this started under the harper government we decided that we needed to somebody

00:36:02.500 was thinking into the future okay this is good this is forward looking somebody saw that there's

00:36:06.740 a problem there's a bottleneck at the border the uh peace bridge is not or the peace bridge or the

00:36:12.660 whatever bridge is down in that windsor uh detroit corridor was insufficient somebody mentioned on

00:36:18.740 somebody tell me what the name of that bridge was in the chat there please so we we had a vision and

00:36:23.700 we decided we're going to build a bridge across and uh d bottleneck the traffic which would help

00:36:31.380 for the import exports of auto parts and things like that good good good right infrastructure

00:36:36.100 and then we didn't quite negotiate a really good deal with the americans and we basically

00:36:41.700 unilaterally built this bridge so canada builds the bridge and then canada sets up the toll and

00:36:48.660 canada is going to collect the tolls but then donald trump gets elected donald trump's a wild

00:36:53.620 man and he says no we're not opening this bridge on our side so we pay billions of dollars build

00:36:59.220 the bridge we expect to have it open and we're going to collect tolls and trump says nope you

00:37:04.340 should have signed a better deal and uh i'm not opening this bridge until so he's using it as a

00:37:09.540 bargaining chip right and this and then carney tells us that oh i i i went and met with trump

00:37:17.300 we negotiated and the bridge will open and it's all good so then people start digging and went

00:37:22.580 oh wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute and so uh carney got challenged on this

00:37:28.980 and carney almost refused to talk about it turned away from the mics wouldn't talk about it and now

00:37:34.020 we're getting the whole story the bridge is going to open and uh we will recover the cost of the

00:37:41.380 the bridge through tolls but in the meantime regardless half the tolls we collect on this

00:37:47.800 bridge are just going to go to the U.S. so the U.S. who put no money into building this bridge

00:37:52.160 is going to is going to get money revenue from the bridge and now it's going to take us twice

00:37:58.700 as long to pay off this bridge because half the money we're getting every year is instead of going

00:38:04.440 to pay off the bridge is just going to go to the U.S. so another example of an absolute monumental

00:38:09.500 failure on the part of carny and um and and and this is you know was it a bad deal to start with

00:38:16.920 sure but remember he was touted as carny the magnificent the guy who could negotiate anything

00:38:22.760 and so far he just hasn't negotiated anything whatsoever for us i'm scrolling through the

00:38:29.280 comments folks there is a lot of comments there um all right well i'll keep pei is a place that

00:38:38.260 is all no okay cool folks uh numbers on the screen there i i know it's uh just after lunchtime maybe

00:38:43.620 you're digesting maybe you're at work and you're uh you don't want to be uh uh you got rules you

00:38:49.460 can't uh make phone calls on i don't know what the deal is but come on folks uh there's the number

00:38:55.860 on the on the screen there and give me a give me a call um all right where do i go from here

00:39:03.220 uh i want to talk about this one i don't know how long i'll be able to talk about this one but this

00:39:07.940 was another one of those weird stories this week um how many did you guys all see that um gentlemen

00:39:16.580 the the the young man of uh the seek persuasion who went to the good will or good life gym uh

00:39:26.660 in somewhere in ontario and made a big deal so this guy's an influencer and he's obviously likes

00:39:33.460 to film himself doing things and so he goes to the gym he's not wearing a shirt and he's

00:39:38.820 got his kerpan right that little curved um ceremonial knife and and the gym a lady who

00:39:47.460 works at the gym walked up to him and said i'm getting complaints and people uh would like you

00:39:55.460 to you know cover up and hide that kerpan or keep it in your in your locker and i mean this thing

00:40:02.180 that like he was openly wearing it and this thing was long right like not not just a little

00:40:06.980 ceremonial thing this thing looked like a hunting knife kind of thing and she and and then he got

00:40:12.740 into this back and forth with her and he posted it on the internet and then he posted all these

00:40:17.380 all these other videos came out about it and there was at first there was a rumor so

00:40:23.460 i'm i'm gonna try and keep this concrete but at first there was a rumor that good life had fired

00:40:30.740 the uh lady in this in the in the business the the gym attendant that turns out that no that wasn't

00:40:36.420 the case i wouldn't be surprised if there's a lawsuit against good life that comes out of this

00:40:43.060 but he's an influencer i get it but then other people piled on right and so then jagmeet singh

00:40:50.020 former leader of the ndp his brother comes on and now everybody's making a big deal about how

00:40:55.300 this is a human right folks i looked into it and uh the i mean this is an this is an awesome debate

00:41:04.100 right now and i and i like it i i think it's going to backfire on that guy yes the courts have ruled

00:41:11.380 that um the gyms have to accommodate that they're allowed to bring a kerpan but the the court said

00:41:18.980 a small one like a four a four to six centimeter one and that it has to be sort of not visible

00:41:26.420 under the shirt kind of thing etc etc and so there there's attempts to accommodate and the gym

00:41:35.220 i think has accommodated and is accommodating but this is a example i this is where i i get upset

00:41:42.420 we live in a country where we are extremely accommodating to all sorts of people for all

00:41:48.100 sorts of reasons even when it's not required by law okay we're just a nice nation of accommodating

00:41:54.740 people if somebody comes to me and says you know i need uh i i can't work on saturdays or i can't

00:42:01.620 work on fridays because because because i'll accommodate if somebody came to me in in the

00:42:07.140 camp that i managed and said i need a quiet place to go pray i'll accommodate we'll find you a quiet

00:42:13.540 place but if you come to me and say i need you to build me a temple at the work site so i can go

00:42:18.660 pray i'm not going to build you a temple at the work site right that's the concept of accommodating

00:42:22.660 is means that you do something that's not too unaccommodating for me not too intrusive not too

00:42:29.140 complicated it's not just religious it's uh it's it's it's in other instances right you come to me

00:42:35.780 and you have a wheelchair but you're perfectly capable of doing a job but you just need you know

00:42:41.300 i need to provide you an office with wider doors and do something like that we will accommodate

00:42:45.780 that's not going i don't it's not crazy accommodation doesn't mean i have to you know

00:42:52.020 widen every single door in the office and and pave every sidewalk that's the you know what i mean so

00:42:58.820 that's that's what accommodating and we live we're living in a world now where um we accommodate we

00:43:04.580 give an inch and they'll want a mile and it's starting to backfire so i i didn't like that

00:43:09.780 story and i i think we're in i think we're seeing a tipping point because online i didn't see too

00:43:15.940 many people that were on side with this gentleman now i want to just add one other thing that was

00:43:21.700 interesting despite accommodating this debate brought up other uh other groups that want to be

00:43:31.460 accommodated which is interesting because so i went and looked at the supreme court ruling on

00:43:38.340 this one that said a business had to accommodate one of the things that said in there is that

00:43:44.100 simply having a kerpan or something like that looks like a weapon does not prove intent to

00:43:51.060 use as a weapon and i looked at that and go oh that's interesting so just because you have a

00:43:56.420 knife doesn't mean that the knife is a weapon and the supreme court went on to say other things like

00:44:02.820 in a gym the dumbbells could be used as a weapon so it said a weapon cannot be defined by just

00:44:10.980 the purpose of the object almost anything can be a weapon and almost anything that's

00:44:15.060 a weapon could be used as a non-weapon you know where i'm going with this so if you have

00:44:20.740 so in one instance the the the courts rule that just having a knife doesn't

00:44:25.620 prove any intent well then what about somebody who's walking around with a firearm

00:44:29.460 i guess just owning a firearm is not intent on using the firearm you see where i'm going with

00:44:36.360 this i got a caller i want to definitely prioritize callers go ahead where are you calling from what's

00:44:40.340 your name please hey marty it's jess and gp thanks for calling jess our thanks good how are you dude

00:44:49.480 good good um accommodate is that another you know there could be another term for accommodate and i

00:44:56.180 I would liken it to consults, just like consultation.

00:45:00.260 Oh, I was going to go there. You beat me to it.

00:45:04.400 Right? It's a perfect segue to what we're encountering with the two-tier justice that we see evident.

00:45:14.120 And let's even correlate that with what we see with the Forever Canadian, what's happening here.

00:45:21.980 It all works together, it seems, right?

00:45:25.500 yeah and and accommodate and consult have similar words and then consult definitely doesn't

00:45:30.900 necessarily mean uh agree right or um um or what's the other terms i'm thinking of uh i i see where

00:45:41.080 you're going with this i was going to go with this perhaps in the context of uh of major projects

00:45:46.020 right now and consulting and accommodating first nations and things like that um but you yeah i

00:45:53.420 i like where you took it yeah because condone i think would be a word that you're looking for as

00:45:59.980 well we you know or um we're consulting doesn't mean we uh doesn't mean we take oh yeah the word

00:46:07.580 that wab canoe used trying to think of that well i think he used did he use consent or consensus

00:46:13.420 there's there's there's those terms get mixed up too right so yeah consent yeah accommodating uh

00:46:20.780 consulting is a tough one right i i've dealt with that right consulting i mean uh some people could

00:46:26.020 interpret consulting as me simply telling you what i'm going to do right i'm going to build uh

00:46:30.720 i'm going to build a road in your neighborhood next year and i'm giving you time to know that

00:46:35.860 it's going to happen so you can adjust i'm not necessarily seeking your permission to do it but

00:46:40.400 these days consulting has become um uh equivalent to a veto and everybody is uh you know is assuming

00:46:49.440 that they they have to get absolutely everything that they want and and that's not what consulting

00:46:54.240 means exactly yeah and i agree 100 percent um and this you know this just goes to show for many

00:47:02.560 reasons um you know including the the uh uh the uh poking the bear of donald trump right

00:47:11.840 and we didn't vote for any of this no no absolutely not and i and i like what diane

00:47:17.280 said earlier right and that that that donald trump is doing what's good for the americans

00:47:22.320 and that's yeah i mean like him or not that's one thing i fundamentally like about him yeah i don't

00:47:27.120 like all his rhetoric and sometimes i wish he'd just get off x and stop trolling us but at the

00:47:32.800 end of the day he's doing what's best for his people like he's that's what he got elected to do

00:47:38.400 and if only we had somebody that did that here can you imagine

00:47:41.520 all right well thanks have a good day yeah thanks for calling awesome um boy this again another hour

00:47:50.940 that's just going to fly by and i'm going through my list of things and and uh i'm not even going

00:47:55.740 to have time to cover all of the topics that i wanted to talk about um so anyways uh where do

00:48:02.920 i end off on uh on the good life um it's well to see i i guess we're going to see what happens

00:48:10.940 um i i feel bad for them already they're they're already the subject of memes they're already the

00:48:17.500 subject of boycotts and things like that and uh and and that's too bad like it's i i guess i'm

00:48:24.200 going back to accommodating and i think we are next actually this is one thing i wanted to say

00:48:28.460 i'm going to tie this in accommodating and and other things it's it what's really interesting

00:48:34.020 is when accommodation starts to uh accommodating one person impacts another and even when you have

00:48:42.320 well intentions right good intentions so I'll give you an example right I talked about wheelchair

00:48:47.080 access and so in order to make a property wheelchair accessible you might have a property

00:48:52.900 like a you know I might have sidewalks with a curb and so somebody can't go up and down the sidewalk

00:48:58.920 when they're in a wheelchair so to accommodate somebody with a wheelchair i might put a little

00:49:04.320 area at the end of you see it in city streets right the sidewalk suddenly smooths down and

00:49:09.040 that's to accommodate a wheelchair but when you accommodate a wheelchair by removing that curb

00:49:15.100 you are inconveniencing a blind person who is walking along with the cane and who's relying 0.56

00:49:21.140 on that curb to know where something is you know you see what i'm saying so this whole concept of 0.99

00:49:26.600 of completely accommodating everybody on everything all the time is impossible right you can't please

00:49:34.100 all the people all the time so it's the same thing with accommodating it you you end up with a you end

00:49:39.860 up with an overlap in a conflict and an example of the conflict that showed up this week with this

00:49:44.940 gentleman you know I gave the example of the guns which is perhaps a stretch because um you know

00:49:51.040 i'll leave it at that but somebody else brought up a very real case like if a young lady has a

00:49:57.940 bear spray and brings a bear spray to the gym because she's nervous and she's worried um how

00:50:05.440 come she's not accommodated or or should women expect to be accommodated by having a separate 1.00

00:50:11.820 hours at the gym or a separate area of the gym and stuff like that right so that that's where 1.00

00:50:16.460 whole accommodation thing keeps on uh on on on going and uh and i'll leave it at that um okay

00:50:23.820 i wanted a couple of things i wanted to talk about uh maybe i should have brought these up earlier

00:50:29.420 might have resonated more with people locally elections alberta this week elections alberta has

00:50:34.460 been in the news a lot this week they're uh they're actually almost asking that uh influencers

00:50:39.660 like myself stop talking about them okay that's an interesting one right so when the government

00:50:45.820 or an institution doesn't want us to talk about them uh why and so i find that elections alberta

00:50:52.060 lately is going out of its way to defend itself they're running a big ad campaign you know

00:50:57.660 promoting themselves as impartial this blah blah blah this week uh for them the they're they're um

00:51:06.060 they continue to be under call under criticism by a lot of valid uh by a lot of separatists who

00:51:14.540 who are bringing up points of why actually let me let me bring this back we had a very successful

00:51:20.700 uh telethon last uh saturday uh five days ago where we promoted all the third party advertisers

00:51:27.180 we did a 12-hour telethon and during the telethon i got to interview one of the third party

00:51:32.460 advertisers and talk in depth about you know what they have to do to comply with the elections

00:51:39.880 Alberta rules regarding raising money campaigning and stuff like that that the advertiser I got to

00:51:45.280 interview was Jason Levine of the Levine show but you know right here Corey Morgan is a third

00:51:53.200 party advertiser and others and so we are held they are held to a very high standard of transparency

00:52:02.480 by Elections Alberta when it comes to all these things and there's been a lot of criticism this

00:52:08.220 week that thomas lukasik's group the forever canada group is not being held to the same level

00:52:13.260 of compliance and elections alberta's excuse is that they're not campaigning they're just

00:52:19.900 promoting something and you know and elections alberta went as far as issuing a bulletin

00:52:25.700 trying to clarify the situation and when you read the bulletin it just looks like they're

00:52:29.480 making excuses for thomas's group uh go ahead caller where are you calling from what's on your

00:52:34.160 mind. Oh, Marty here from Abbotsford, British Columbia. I'm glad there's a referendum. Yeah,

00:52:43.120 it's Donald. You know who I am. So we're having problems here with fires right now here in the

00:52:49.080 Boston Bar. We have a lot of talking about this regime and NBP. I want to talk about Michaela

00:52:56.280 the Resistance, the so-called left-wing Antifa girl who literally went up to Daniel Smith and

00:53:02.440 I called her an F of fascist parenthood. 0.98

00:53:06.120 Like, is this woman mentally ill or is she – how do I feel it? 1.00

00:53:12.340 Is she nuts or something, Marty? 1.00

00:53:16.180 Listen, stay on the line for a second. 1.00

00:53:18.660 She's nuts. 0.98

00:53:19.520 Okay, I wanted to talk about that today. 0.99

00:53:21.160 I was going to talk about that.

00:53:22.040 That was on my list of things.

00:53:23.940 Folks, what happened there is Danielle Smith finished her campaign

00:53:28.660 or her stampede week.

00:53:31.200 so now she's up back in edmonton doing klondike days she was having a breakfast this lady

00:53:36.320 uh had a camera on her started talking to danielle you know how do you like my shirt this that all 0.96

00:53:42.000 over the place danielle kept her cool calm answered some of her questions and then the 1.00

00:53:47.360 lady got a little bit belligerent and so um security intervened grabbed the lady and hauled 0.98

00:53:54.560 her away and as she was being hauled away she said i don't think i can repeat it on the air but she 1.00

00:54:00.080 said f your fascist pancakes which okay so to answer your question yes she's a lunatic right 0.98

00:54:09.620 the girl who said that is a lunatic what's more disturbing to me though is that there are 0.99

00:54:15.360 politicians who are playing this card right so and yeah like like like the like the ndp 0.71

00:54:23.200 NDP person, what's her name? McPherson, who wears that

00:54:26.680 kegel in the House of Commons

00:54:31.080 sometimes. I can't remember what her real name is.

00:54:35.360 Her name is McPherson. She has a cop

00:54:38.880 which I'm not going to say on the air. She says

00:54:42.320 pancakes or whatever. Yeah, she's another 0.99

00:54:46.880 NDP lunatic who supports fascism 0.99

00:54:50.900 and supports terrorism and supports all this stuff like you know what i i want to have pancakes now 0.95

00:54:56.500 so guess what i guess i'm a fascist i would love to have some pancakes well i want to say i think

00:55:01.860 it's uh i don't it's not it's heather mcpherson is the lady so yeah that's it and she's more than

00:55:07.860 just an average like she's that she's a federal mp okay so she's she's she's a federal mp she's

00:55:14.820 the only ndp federal mp in alberta she's in edmonton and she posted a picture of herself

00:55:21.940 holding a cop a coffee mug that said f your uh fascist pancake with the with the funny music 0.92

00:55:30.980 basically accusing and agreeing she's basically agreeing that danielle smith is a fascist and i

00:55:36.980 think i think that's dangerous identity politic that's care that's that's really careless like 1.00

00:55:43.460 i want my politicians to step up politicians to me should have condoned that lady saying 0.60

00:55:48.740 this is not how you engage the premier that's it but but to to to to to not only support what she

00:55:56.260 said but to agree with it and to use it uh politically that's that's gross right mcpherson

00:56:02.580 should know better daniel smith is no is is as far from being a fascist as i can possibly think

00:56:09.060 Daniel Smith has been a lot

00:56:13.900 on a podcast and all that stuff

00:56:16.000 like Bird of Dad, Rebel Media

00:56:17.620 and all that stuff 0.99

00:56:18.440 and these little lunatics 0.99

00:56:21.660 and all that stuff are calling you guys 0.99

00:56:23.380 fascist

00:56:26.020 separatist 0.95

00:56:27.440 extremist and all that stuff

00:56:29.540 when these people are

00:56:31.580 extremists themselves

00:56:32.620 now let's talk about the so called

00:56:35.380 nerds here blocking freezing 1.00

00:56:37.460 bank accounts because

00:56:38.760 they can't get their own way so they want to now block infrastructures they want to attack people

00:56:45.080 they want to do checkpoints they want to do all this stuff like i agree there has to be some audits

00:56:50.900 on these band members i like to know how much money they're getting from the mvp and from these

00:56:56.440 ngos yeah yeah okay cool uh save some of that for next week where yeah you're you're you're giving

00:57:02.340 me too much thought but now i'm looking at the screen and my god that the hour went by so fast

00:57:07.060 appreciate the call thanks for uh we'll chat again next week sorry about no worry about that

00:57:11.820 martin it's like one it's one o'clock here yeah yeah no worries have a great weekend thanks

00:57:16.000 okay so i i got a couple of minutes i think before uh the hour is up i mean john i think

00:57:23.400 we're gonna have to go maybe we'll wait until after summer but after summer we're gonna have

00:57:27.020 to go to 90 minute shows because um i'm having no problem filling i'm literally having no problem

00:57:33.040 I'm filling an hour of just monologuing with a handful of calls.

00:57:36.260 I really want you guys to call in.

00:57:38.720 So, like, tell me what's keeping you from calling.

00:57:41.420 Is it the time of the day?

00:57:42.680 Like, do I need to shift the show to another different time zone?

00:57:46.540 Do I need to bring in more guests?

00:57:47.900 I mean, like, I'm feeling like there's no problem for me to fill 90 minutes,

00:57:51.900 especially if I bring a guest.

00:57:53.580 I think we'll run the summer on this schedule, and then come fall,

00:57:57.320 we'll, you know, I'll put some serious thought into going to a 90-minute show,

00:58:01.380 maybe at a different time slot.

00:58:03.040 um i like let me just finish on elections alberta so elections alberta's is really backed in the

00:58:08.880 corner defending himself and especially their decision to they they really appear to be um

00:58:15.760 biased and not as impartial as we want them to be um and and to me the more an organization or

00:58:22.560 business fights saying hey we're impartial or we're this or we're that the more they fight

00:58:27.120 to convince you of something the more i get suspicious so i don't like what's going on with

00:58:31.040 elections alberta and and the other thing i wanted to talk about but i'm kind of running out of time

00:58:35.360 is elections alberta this week uh opened the uh portal so that people can go register to vote on

00:58:42.400 uh by mail for the upcoming referendum i'm not gonna lie um i'm not a big fan of mail-in ballots

00:58:49.840 i think they're one of the most abused forms of voting i'd be i am okay with mail-in ballots under

00:58:56.080 certain circumstances i think when you apply for a mail-in ballot you should have to give a reason

00:59:01.900 why you're applying for that ballot you maybe you're studying abroad maybe you have a plane

00:59:06.220 ticket and you're going to be on vacation maybe your business takes you away something but i i

00:59:11.720 want some sort of valid reason i don't want it to make it just wide open you don't need an

00:59:17.300 explanation and it's very clear on the elections alberta website that you do not need an excuse

00:59:22.560 for requesting a mail-in ballot you just request one and it's yours so like a lot of other things

00:59:28.700 i'll go through the process next week and i'll uh i'll request a mail-in ballot to see um how that

00:59:35.240 works out and and whether or not i feel that there's uh you know areas for improvement uh who

00:59:41.140 knows all right we never got around to i wanted to maybe i'll save this one for next week i wanted

00:59:45.440 to talk about stats canada's report on crime and uh i wanted to talk about uh well actually i

00:59:52.160 covered almost everything i was going to talk about inflation and stats canada report on climb

00:59:56.400 but i never got around to those uh covered everything else pretty good okay uh it is the

01:00:02.800 hours up my god the hour went by so fast um thanks for calling in as always we can't bring you this
