00:00:00.000 I just returned from a two-week road trip through the United States, and it's always nice to
00:00:03.480 take a break from local issues and attitudes and absorb some of that hospitality and positive
00:00:08.300 attitudes of individualism you see down in the American Southwest. So for the driving time,
00:00:13.200 I chose to listen to the audio version of Barack Obama's book, A Promised Land. Yeah, yeah, I know,
00:00:18.220 before you all get going. It says I'm not suddenly a fan of Obama's progressive policies and his
00:00:22.480 high-spending Keynesian approach to economics. I do like to listen, read, and learn, though,
00:00:28.180 from former leaders, and there can be positive insight to be found in their writing. I mean,
00:00:31.900 really, Levesque's memoirs, for example, are a must-read for anybody interested in regionalism
00:00:37.080 and Canadian politics. I mean, love or hate Obama, or Levesque's politics, for that matter. It can't
00:00:41.980 be denied, though, that Obama is an intelligent, articulate, and skilled communicator. His voice
00:00:47.100 is comfortable to listen to, and he gets his messages out clearly. And then I was thinking
00:00:50.780 to myself as I was listening to it, what would Justin Trudeau's memoirs be like, though? And I
00:00:55.080 had to laugh to myself. I mean, to begin with, Trudeau would need somebody to write it for him.
00:00:59.740 A few, if any, words in the publication would be his own, unless perhaps it was a pop-up book.
00:01:04.540 I mean, and if Trudeau were to narrate the words for an audiobook, it would be unlistenable.
00:01:09.280 I'd rather spend a day under the tender mercies of a vivisectionist with a rusty razor than subject
00:01:13.620 my mind and ears to hours of Trudeau's vacuous, breathy oration. While a written version may be less
00:01:19.680 painful to consume, there'd be little of merit to be found. I mean, what would Trudeau talk about?
00:01:24.220 Eight years in power, but really what? His wardrobe decisions? Preferred surfing locations?
00:01:28.880 Maybe his favorite reality TV shows? I mean, I'm really going to ask the stubborn liberal supporters
00:01:33.760 out there who just can't seem to let Trudeau go, when will the novelty of this man wear off for you?
00:01:39.580 It's embarrassing enough, as a Canadian in general, when Trudeau pulls some ridiculous stunt
00:01:44.060 or does something idiotic on the world stage. How bad must it be, though, when you're on the liberal
00:01:48.820 team? I mean, this is your guy. Well, liberal supporters never tire of the gaffes and fiascos.
00:01:53.760 I mean, how much did it have felt for his supporters when Trudeau decided to use the Queen's funeral to
00:01:58.020 bring a celebrity entourage on a trip where he held an embarrassing and insulting karaoke party
00:02:02.580 in a hotel lounge? What about when Trudeau earned ridicule around the world as he insulted India
00:02:07.360 during his weeks over there with his bizarre penchant for dressing, playing dress-up in the
00:02:11.240 cultural clothing of other nations? How many more surfing trips during national days of remembrance
00:02:15.780 can his supporters endure? I mean, does it hurt internally for liberal supporters to see Trudeau ignored by
00:02:21.100 other world leaders at summits when they've found little time to spend on a guy who's too busy
00:02:26.660 wanting them to admire his latest cute socks rather than talk policy? I understand partisanship. I
00:02:31.860 understand some liberal supporters will never support the thought of or entertain the thought of voting
00:02:35.780 for a conservative party under any circumstance. It's okay. I can respect that. But can the liberals
00:02:40.340 at least start working on finding a new leader? I mean, the nation's in a tough spot. The economy's
00:02:44.660 sputtering, inflation's roaring, and unity is shattering. Canada needs a respectable, strong,
00:02:49.840 and intelligent leader in there, and Trudeau's incapable of providing any of those things.
00:02:54.040 I mean, there have been, and I know it's not what everybody likes to hear, but there have been some
00:02:57.940 bright, pragmatic liberal members in the party. Isn't it time to give one of them the top job? A new
00:03:02.560 leader would bring a new cabinet as well. And let's face it, Trudeau's unfortunately been prone to
00:03:06.620 stacking cabinet positions with people he sees as his intellectual peers, and it shows.
00:03:11.040 A leader less cerebrally insecure wouldn't feel threatened by filling cabinet positions with
00:03:16.940 strong, intelligent people. And Canada needs those kind of people in power right now.
00:03:20.740 I don't understand the appeal of the liberal party, but again, I can respect it. I'll never
00:03:24.360 understand the ability, though, of liberal supporters to endure idiocy from their leadership.
00:03:28.680 I'm beyond caring right now if Canada's prime minister is conservative or liberal. I just want
00:03:32.420 one who is intelligent. Is that too much to ask? Apparently it is. Canadian Shooting Supports Association.
00:03:38.720 Without the CSSA, our gun rights would have been taken long, long ago. These guys are on the front
00:03:44.460 lines, helping to draft smart and intelligent firearms regulations and legislation in Canada,
00:03:51.100 and more importantly, educating the public about how we keep guns out of the hands of the wrong
00:03:55.900 people. To become a member, it's absolutely worth every penny.
00:04:01.380 You can become a Western Standard member for just $10 a month or $99 a year for unlimited access.
00:04:08.720 you can become a Everyone from everywhere star. Maybe.
00:04:14.460 I can become a person in a business that is trying to live forút planets on the
