00:00:00.000 Mr. Speaker, on this Liberal RCMP political interference scandal, the Minister continues
00:00:04.720 to avoid accountability by using very specific legal words concerning ministerial directives
00:00:09.440 to the RCMP.
00:00:10.440 But we're not asking about legal directives, we're asking about political interference.
00:00:15.240 Did the Minister, his Chief of Staff or anyone from his office discuss the forthcoming Liberal
00:00:19.640 gun control legislation with the RCMP Commissioner or her staff between the dates of the Nova
00:00:25.000 Scotia mass murder and the April 28 press conference?
00:00:27.700 Did they politicize the deaths of 22 people, Mr. Speaker?
00:00:30.460 Yes or no?
00:00:31.460 The Right Honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Speaker, Canadians expect their governments to respond
00:00:37.980 quickly and effectively to crises and answer their questions.
00:00:42.200 But it's interesting to see how Conservative politicians are changing their tune.
00:00:46.260 I will remind the member that her colleagues from Leeds, Grenville, Thousand Islands and Rideau
00:00:50.940 Lakes and West Nova asked on at least three occasions between May 20th and May 28th, 2020,
00:00:58.860 when will all of this information finally be made transparent and public?
00:01:02.800 I'm focused on supporting the families affected by this tragedy and taking action to ensure
00:01:07.700 that it never happens again.
00:01:10.460 The member for Kildonan St. Paul.
00:01:13.460 This cover-up is coming out every day.
00:01:15.620 We've just learned that the RCMP Director of Media Relations, who also happens to be a
00:01:19.020 former Liberal staffer, Mr. Speaker, is being investigated for covering up the audio recording
00:01:24.860 that's at the centre of this entire scandal.
00:01:26.660 That same audio recording has the Commissioner directly contradicting the Minister.
00:01:31.580 There are lies here, Mr. Speaker.
00:01:33.160 So who's getting fired?
00:01:34.160 The Minister, the Commissioner, or both, Mr. Speaker?
00:01:37.160 The Right Honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Speaker.
00:01:42.160 As all Canadians know, when an emergency arises, accurate and timely information is crucial.
00:01:48.740 As the Commissioner stated, keeping the government informed through timely and accurate information
00:01:53.340 sharing is not interference.
00:01:55.980 It is standard procedure, and these situational updates are provided without compromising
00:02:01.080 the operational integrity of an investigation.
00:02:05.520 Canadians rightfully had questions about the public communications that occurred during
00:02:09.420 and after our country's most devastated intended mass casualty.
00:02:13.380 That's why that's the focus of our inquiry.
