00:00:00.000 How in the world did Christianity, a quote, upstart religion, they called it, was able to overtake, eventually, the Roman Empire?
00:00:09.820 That persecuted them, burned them at stakes, threw them to lions for hundreds of years, for a couple hundred years, right?
00:00:16.940 How in the world did they do that?
00:00:18.820 Well, the secular historians admit there were three things.
00:00:22.040 Number one, they could give a defense for the hope that lies within them.
00:00:25.240 they were amazed at how they were able to articulate their faith and defend their faith
00:00:30.360 against the skeptics right number two uh they were amazed at how they loved one another
00:00:38.920 because the christians came from all different walks of life some had wealth some didn't some
00:00:44.800 were slaves some were just average joe but they all got along they all loved each other and some
00:00:50.500 that had a lot and those that didn't they shared freely they loved each other like wow who wouldn't
00:00:54.860 want to be a part of that family. The third one was they loved not their lives unto death,
00:00:59.980 as Revelation says. They were willing to die for their faith, which again is the complete opposite
00:01:04.780 of a selfish person. And so those three things they admit were the three things that overtook
00:01:13.340 the whole Roman society, and that's secular research. So really, it's plan A. What do you
00:01:19.000 do as a Christian? You get up out of bed, I'm living for Jesus. Jesus, use this life to bear
00:01:23.940 fruit for you. Well, how do you do that? Well, again, it's twofold. If you're a Christian and
00:01:29.600 you're around other Christians, plan A is this, salt, light, last day's resistance. You speak up, 0.86
00:01:37.620 you love each other, you get along, you work together as God's team, and you make a difference
00:01:43.980 where you're at. I don't care if it's a city, I don't care if it's a teeny tiny town with 50
00:01:47.720 people. If you got Christians there and you're a Christian, work together, love each other,
00:01:52.560 and make a difference. Number one. And that'll keep you busy every day. The other thing that'll
00:01:56.800 keep you busy is the other plan A is, shocker, if you've run into a non-Christian, what do you do? 0.94
00:02:04.740 You share the gospel with them. You lead them to Jesus. There you go. That's not hard. 0.96
00:02:11.300 Yeah. So you wake up every day and you be a Christian and you make a difference. And if
00:02:16.480 you've got other Christians around you, work together. Oh, and by the way, if any of you come
00:02:20.960 across somebody that's not safe, you share Jesus with them. You know what? You'll be busy until the
00:02:25.420 Lord takes you home. And you know what? That's where you're going to start seeing the fruit.
00:02:29.360 So I agree with you. We have to keep living up to who we are as Christians. We need to work
00:02:35.020 together as Christians, right? We have to get rid of any pessimism and apathy. And with what time
00:02:42.580 we have left, we need to make a difference. Be the what? Salt, light, and what you're doing,
00:02:47.620 The resistance.
00:02:48.820 You're resisting when you get the truth out.
00:02:50.920 You're resisting when the government says no, and you say, oh, yeah, well, I'm going to do it anyway, with what freedom I got left. 0.98
00:02:56.380 The government says, shut your mouth.
00:02:57.640 He says, no, I'm going to speak up for Christ.
00:02:59.700 And by the way, that's biblical.
00:03:01.460 A lot of people during the pandemic, they tried to beat us over the head with Romans 13 and say, you've got to obey the government.
00:03:06.840 That's completely out of context because Scripture interprets Scripture, and you look at the apostles in the book of Acts.
00:03:14.400 when they were told by the authorities, shut your mouth, don't speak about Jesus ever again,
00:03:19.940 or we're going to flog you. We're going to beat you up. You're going to pay a big price. 1.00
00:03:25.260 And what'd they say? You tell us whether we obey you, the authority, basically man or God.
00:03:33.580 And they went out and defied the authority because God always comes first. And the context of Romans
00:03:40.240 13 is, of course, we bear the government. God gave us government for, you know, I'm glad that
00:03:45.720 we have a military and police and helps crime. But if the government asked me to do anything
00:03:50.920 against God's will, against his truth, I say no.
