In this episode, Dr. Kelly talks about the need to stand firm in the fight against anti-gay propaganda in schools and public schools across Canada. She also discusses the need for abstinence education in public schools and the importance of a biblical worldview in educating our children.
00:00:00.000I was involved in this about 10 years ago during the David Eggins NDP era in Alberta.
00:00:08.340And they had published the gender diversity best practices guidelines for our schools and were foisting on our children really an indoctrination.
00:00:18.440Myself and a colleague wrote a detailed medical letter, not using Christian speak, but using medical data, using citations from papers that we had researched and read and put together and outlined our concerns.
00:00:35.960They were medical concerns and in part parental concerns, but really we're focused on the medical side.
00:00:42.220And not surprisingly, it didn't go well.
00:00:45.520And the but I still felt, you know, we both felt really compelled to do this.
00:00:50.420And the letter went viral at the time and we were actually castigated and brought before the University of Alberta.
00:00:59.560All four years of the medical students were present and there was a petition that was signed that we should lose our credentials at the university.
00:01:08.220The narrative that's often, you know, put out there that's inevitable, there's nothing we can do is wrong and it's false and we can push against that.
00:01:17.820And in our in the province of Alberta, where I am, Premier Daniel Smith has done remarkable work in terms of banning transitorial surgery and puberty blockers, men competing in women's sports, parental opt-out for sex ed and parental notification regarding pronoun and gender ID change.
00:01:35.340So this has been a tremendous advance in our province, Alberta, I hope that we carry widely to support these people.
00:01:42.460And there's been some good work done for a pride pushback across the nation.
00:01:46.980We see the National Pride Walkout, Flag Walkout Day.
00:01:50.560We see a ban on pride or porn books, you know, school of porn books that focus on LGBT, as mentioned earlier by Tanya.
00:01:59.180And companies are dropping sponsorship.
00:02:01.640We saw that this now at the Toronto Pride, that there is a Home Depot, Google, Adidas, Nissan, they're all pulling out.
00:02:09.760They're not supporting the Pride parade in Toronto.
00:02:21.100And I think that, you know, the key thing is that we hold on to the gospel message.
00:02:23.920We encourage its full council proclamation, and we stand behind that.
00:02:30.340This is, as Charles Spurgeon said, the proclamation of the living gospel of Christ, the whole of it, will meet the whole of the ills of our society.
00:02:40.640And so I think Charles Spurgeon's notes then was really what he said in his day, you know, meets our current era today.
00:02:48.040And we need to teach Christian worldview to our children.
00:02:52.360We need to equip them and prepare them to be able to identify these lies and be able to say, not so.
00:02:58.540And to be able to have objective biblical truths to be able to stand on and to be able to understand how they can frame these complex ideas and understand them
00:03:09.460so they can have meaningful conversations with people and not be duped and trapped by such ideologies and to help others who are duped and trapped by those ideologies.
00:03:22.860And third and lastly, then, we promote church community and communities in general.
00:03:28.020And in the States, at Princeton University, Dr. Robert George is promoting what they're calling the Fidelity Month
00:03:34.680and celebrating, really, our commitment to God, our spouses, families, and communities.
00:03:43.040That's a positive spin on the whole Pride season.
00:03:47.080You know, rather than just saying, no, no, no, we say, how about yes, but yes to fidelity?
00:03:52.240And it's a beautiful idea, and I love that.
00:03:54.940But in all of this, then, we need to stand firm.
00:03:57.460And Jesus said, I'm sending you out like sheep among wolves, therefore be shrewd as snakes, innocent as doves.
00:04:03.800Not nasty as serpents and stupid as pigeons, as Preston Manning would say, but we need to be shrewd and innocent.
00:04:12.940And Martin Luther said, the loyalty to the soldier is proved when the battle rages, and the battle's raging here.
00:04:20.720And so, there's opportunity, and I think what Action for Canada is doing presently, we need to get behind that and support them with our monetary help and with our active involvement.
