00:00:00.000 In late 2011, God moved Andrew and his wife, Catherine, from Toronto to Kingston to serve
00:00:08.280 as the associate pastor at a church in town.
00:00:12.880 They knew this is where God has called them, and they fell in love with Kingston very quickly.
00:00:20.420 In early 2014, God gave Pastor Andrew DiBartolo a vision for a church that was gospel-centered,
00:00:33.260 committed to making disciples of Jesus passionate in worship and intentional in pursuing intimate relationships.
00:00:43.400 Andrew became excited about planting the Encounter Church in Kingston,
00:00:49.520 where an estimated 79% of people do not attend church on Sunday morning.
00:00:56.980 Will you please help me welcome Pastor Andrew DiBartolo this morning?
00:01:12.000 I'm just going to pray to kind of start our time off, and I'll be saying some things a little bit later.
00:01:19.160 So join me as we pray.
00:01:21.380 Our Father in heaven, we thank you for this beautiful day that you have given us.
00:01:26.560 As the sun comes up, we remember the words to the prophet Malachi,
00:01:31.760 that those who fear your name are for those who fear your name.
00:01:35.280 The sun of righteousness will rise with healing in his wings.
00:01:38.620 And for those of us who love you and know you as the warmth of the sun hits our face,
00:01:43.340 we remember your goodness and your kindness to us.
00:01:47.360 We remember that as each new day dawns, your mercies are new.
00:01:52.920 You are good and gracious to your people.
00:01:56.420 And so as we feel the warmth of the sun,
00:01:59.140 may we remember and know your presence and your goodness that you provide and you care for your people.
00:02:05.580 Father, we are thankful for Barry, for his courage and his boldness
00:02:11.940 and simply standing on what should be uncontroversial truth,
00:02:16.420 but has become rather controversial because in our world and in our nation,
00:02:20.800 more specifically, we have abandoned your truth.
00:02:23.300 We've abandoned your principles.
00:02:24.720 We've abandoned your word.
00:02:26.520 We've abandoned your design for humanity.
00:02:28.580 And so we are grateful for a man who stands on these truths.
00:02:32.760 We pray that you would grant him peace as he is in there,
00:02:37.280 and that your spirit would comfort him, giving him joy and a right perspective.
00:02:43.560 And we do pray for your intervention.
00:02:46.040 We pray that you would grant wisdom to those who are hearing his case,
00:02:50.240 that justice would be done,
00:02:51.820 that we would find ourself rejoicing at the good news,
00:02:56.280 and that you would grant discernment to those who will be deciding on his case.
00:03:01.220 For those of us out here, we pray that you would fill us with hope and joy,
00:03:06.620 that you would help us to trust you.
00:03:08.880 We know that you are sovereign.
00:03:10.860 We know that you are in control of all things.
00:03:12.860 And so build our faith to believe that your plans are good
00:03:16.600 and that whatever happens this day does not change the fact that you are king of the universe,
00:03:24.340 that you are Lord even over Canada.
00:03:26.880 So help us to remember these things and live in the light of these things.
00:03:31.100 We ask and pray in your name, Jesus, and for your glory's sake.
00:03:35.400 Amen.
00:03:42.860 Amen.
