00:01:35.300 My name is Shannon Bosche.
00:01:36.580 I'm a candidate for Ottawa Carleton District School Board trustee in Zone 6.
00:01:43.480 The boundary of Zone 6 starts just in the Byward Market
00:01:47.260 and continues up until Blair Road, so very close by.
00:01:50.340 There are 12 zones in the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.
00:01:54.380 And I'm very excited to say that we have a great number of candidates running
00:01:58.140 to make people aware of what's going on in our schools.
00:02:02.700 I wanted to talk today a little bit, starting with a quoting of a Chinese proverb.
00:02:08.880 And that proverb is,
00:02:10.580 when everybody agrees that something is beautiful, that's truly ugly.
00:02:15.260 And the way I like to think about that is,
00:02:19.380 imagine how many votes that Vladimir Putin got in the last election.
00:02:23.760 Almost all of them, right?
00:02:26.100 And if you disagree with what is considered beautiful, the propaganda in Russia,

00:02:38.680 We're in a situation in Canada now where we are not allowed to speak
00:02:45.380 or question gender ideology as it's being taught in schools.

00:03:03.500 Just about a year ago, my friend Chanel Fall and I met with Billboard Chris,
00:03:09.960 who many of you know, Chris Elston, here in Ottawa.
00:03:13.020 And we stood on a public street corner with signs that said,
00:03:16.420 children can't consent to puberty blockers,
00:03:18.440 and no one is born in the wrong body.
00:03:22.420 And thanks to organizations like Horizon Ottawa,
00:03:26.440 our mayoral candidate Catherine McKinney,
00:03:28.880 Ottawa Carleton District School Board trustee Lyra Evans and others
00:03:34.460 who whipped up a mob.
00:03:38.240 Reports say that we were mobbed by approximately 300 people.
00:03:42.760 It was a defining moment in my life,
00:03:44.920 and I walked away from that stunned.
00:03:50.400 Now, I wanted to share with you a little bit about my background
00:03:55.380 and about, I think, why so many people are concerned about this issue.
00:03:59.100 And I share this, and I think it's gauche,
00:04:02.160 and I think it's something that we don't need to be talking about,
00:04:05.580 but I am an abuse survivor.
00:04:08.760 I grew up in a family of secrets
00:04:10.720 where you weren't allowed to talk about things.
00:04:13.660 And if you talked about things,
00:04:15.000 that got you in an awful lot of trouble.
00:04:17.220 And it seems like there are incredible parallels
00:04:19.720 to what we're facing now as a society.
00:04:21.800 This year, I traveled across the country.
00:04:25.120 I drove from British Columbia here,
00:04:27.200 and then to the Maritimes.
00:04:28.780 And on my journeys, I talked with teachers,
00:04:31.000 I talked with public service workers,
00:04:33.160 first responders,
00:04:34.460 people working at various levels of government
00:04:36.260 who are all being influenced by this unholy trinity
00:04:40.420 that we call diversity, inclusion, and equity.
00:04:42.960 It's a false teaching
00:04:46.220 because it delivers exactly the opposite of what it claims.
00:04:51.460 And baked into this diversity and inclusion and equity,
00:04:54.500 DI, is gender ideology.
00:04:57.800 Gender ideology is a terrifying construct,
00:05:01.800 and we're teaching it to children in our schools.
00:05:04.960 While I was on the road this spring,
00:05:06.760 the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal heard a case,
00:05:09.360 Pamela Baphoni versus the Ottawa School Board,
00:05:12.040 about her daughter in grade one,
00:05:15.100 who was taught that there's no such thing as boys and girls,
00:05:17.940 and you get to choose your gender.
00:05:20.700 Grade one.
00:05:22.260 Now, that event was almost five years ago.
00:05:25.120 The policies written into the Ottawa District School Board,
00:05:28.460 OCDSB, were put in place in 2014,
00:05:31.980 the diversity, equity, inclusion, and gender identity policies
00:05:35.320 by now Assistant Director of Education,
00:05:38.380 Brett Reynolds.
00:05:40.300 These policies are being further rolled out
00:05:45.680 and implemented in our school systems,
00:05:47.520 and this concept that children can choose their gender
00:05:50.200 is being taught to everyone.
00:05:51.920 Now, in the same period of time,
00:05:53.760 recently in a CTV article,
00:05:56.860 the head of the Ottawa CHEO Gender Clinic
00:05:59.680 said that in 2014,
00:06:02.780 there were 12 children who presented to CHEO
00:06:05.280 with gender dysphoria.
00:06:08.000 And in 2021, there were 250.
00:06:12.320 That's a 2,000% increase
00:06:15.360 in the number of kids presenting for medical transition.
00:06:18.060 And in Canada, at CHEO,
00:06:21.260 we often get kids prescribed puberty blockers
00:06:25.200 or cross-sex hormones, wrong sex hormones,
