00:35:40.000 The border incident occurred Thursday evening when border agents attempted to pull over a dump truck on Interstate 10 in Hudspeth County, Texas.

00:35:59.000 The driver abandoned the truck after it became stuck in the riverbed, escaped into Mexico.

00:36:15.000 The drunk truck driver returned with armed men, some of whom drove official looking vehicles and overhead lights.

00:37:36.000 Well, Huntsman County sits just east of El Paso.

00:37:39.000 We're pretty much a remote mountain desert area.

00:37:44.000 We've got quite an extensive stretch of Mexico border that we share.

00:37:51.000 This county covers approximately 5,000 square miles, and we've got a limited number of resources and manpower to cover it with.

00:38:02.000 And in all fairness to some of what you just said, the Governor has made available some finances for the sheriffs with the Border Coalition of Counties.

00:38:13.000 But it was only a few million dollars!

00:38:17.000 Well, that's true, but at this point in time, every little bit helps.

00:38:20.000 No, I'm talking about billions of dollars.

00:38:23.000 Sir, they spend $40 million for a pedestrian walk bridge here in Austin.

00:38:30.000 Well, I'm not in Austin, so I'll reserve comment.

00:38:34.000 But, no, we are very short on funds and very short on manpower.

00:38:40.000 And, you know, anything we get is appreciated.

00:39:32.000 I haven't read a lot of incidents in your area, but I would imagine you've got problems.

00:39:46.000 Well, again, I reiterate, they never actually came on to USA.

00:39:56.000 The persons that were armed pretty well stopped right in the middle of the river.

00:39:59.000 Of course, that's where the truck was stuck at.

00:40:03.000 And there was bulldozer there in their area that they were able to Well, I'm sure you've heard of the reports of them shooting citizens of the United States, kidnapping people, shooting police.

00:40:29.000 So far, most of that has occurred in Texas on the right end of the state.

00:40:36.000 I'm on the opposite end.

00:40:39.000 I guess it's fortunate that I don't have the population that they have in South Texas.

00:40:52.000 To date, we've been fortunate that nothing has actually occurred to our citizens.

00:40:59.000 In respect to the way it's been happening in Laredo.

00:41:02.000 Now obviously you guys are right there on the borderline in the middle of the riverbed.

00:41:06.000 I guess it's dry this time of year.

00:41:09.000 Describe how this happened.

00:41:12.000 It's the state troopers and of course people from your sheriff's office are there.

00:41:18.000 How many deputies?

00:41:19.000 How many state police?

00:41:21.000 How did this transpire?

00:41:22.000 Exactly what happened?

00:41:24.000 Well, Border Patrol had made initial contact with this dump truck as it came up on Interstate 10.

00:41:30.000 Of course, you know, we're talking about a large truck versus a small patrol-type vehicle.

00:41:38.000 And the truck proceeded south back toward the river.

00:41:43.000 Now, when it reached this area that we call Neely's Crossing, it became stuck in the river.

00:41:49.000 Once Border Patrol became aware of the fact that they had armed people approaching from the south side of the rivers when they called us for assistance.

00:41:59.000 We probably had seven to eight people from our department in that area.

00:42:05.000 And there was eventually about seven or eight Highway Patrol officers that came in, but it took a while to get these people into the area.

00:42:15.000 And by the time most of us arrived, the situation had already diffused itself.

00:42:20.000 The truck had already been pulled into Mexico.

00:42:23.000 So, you guys are there unloading it, the state police and the sheriff's deputies are unloading it.

00:42:28.000 Obviously, you guys then pulled back whenever you saw the armed Mexicans or what happened?

00:42:33.000 Well, actually, no.

00:42:34.000 I mean, it was like, grab what you can before they jerk the truck out from under you.

00:42:39.000 So, they're there right in front of you, hooking it up and you're busy grabbing marijuana off the back.

00:42:44.000 Right.

00:42:46.000 Well that's a story in and of itself!

00:42:50.000 So they just march up with their guns dressed up in what look like, you said they look like Mexican troops?

00:42:56.000 Well now they're dressed that way.

00:42:57.000 Now anybody can put on a uniform whether it be theirs or ours.

00:43:01.000 Uh, you know, now they had on military-style uniforms and they were carrying military-style assault weapons.

00:43:06.000 Well, I've got to tell you, I mean, as a teenager I've been on vacation down in Cancun and rented a car and drove out to see the pyramids and you'll just see Mexican troops standing in the backs of Jeeps with heavy machine guns guarding marijuana fields.

00:43:23.000 Well, I have heard that myself, although I have never actually seen it myself.

00:43:27.000 I've seen it.

00:43:29.000 So I don't think it's a stretch to...

00:43:31.000 I mean, everybody knows that a lot of the Mexican government deals drugs.

00:43:34.000 They just had that big federal raid in Nuevo Laredo I mentioned earlier where they had to arrest a bunch of the police because they were doing it.

00:43:41.000 Well, like I said, I have heard reports of that, but I've never actually seen it.

00:43:46.000 And I do not know proof positive who these people were, but I do know what they look like.

00:43:52.000 Can you specifically describe it for us, Chief Deputy Mike Doyle?

00:43:57.000 I mean, you told the press you were there, or you told the press you saw the military troops.

00:44:02.000 Were you there at the dump truck site or somewhere else?

00:44:05.000 No, I was en route to that location.

00:44:08.000 I did have a couple of my officers already there.

00:44:10.000 So it was your deputies that said they saw that?

00:44:12.000 Right.

00:44:13.000 Gotcha, because the newspaper doesn't have all those details.

00:44:15.000 We're just trying to flush that out here.

00:44:19.000 So basically, your deputies and the state police are there trying to get the drugs off the vehicle and they're busy dragging it away.

00:44:28.000 Pretty much, the deputies and the state police are there to make sure that the Border Patrol Uh, we're not assaulted while they were in the process of retrieving the marijuana.

00:44:39.000 Border Patrol was pretty well responsible for the retrieval.

00:44:42.000 Well, that really is a standoff then.

00:44:44.000 Literally, you guys are there, now the state police and the sheriff deputies are there with their guns.

00:44:51.000 Meanwhile, Mexican paramilitary forces, whatever they are, clearly Mexican troops, folks, whether on or off duty, and they're there just dragging away.

00:45:00.000 Were the deputies still, or not deputies, were the Border Patrol still there unloading the drugs while they're busy dragging it away, or did they jump off at the point they started dragging it away?

00:45:12.000 Well, at the point that the truck started to be drugged out, well, the Border Patrol vacated the truck.

00:45:20.000 So there's Border Patrol jumping off of the dump truck as they begin to drag it away.

00:45:29.000 I'm not going to swear to that, but that's the way I understood that it occurred.

00:45:32.000 Talking to your deputies, were they... I mean, the police will draw down on you if they...

00:45:41.000 I don't think anything is suspicious, so I would imagine, were your deputies aiming their firearms at the armed men?

00:45:50.000 There were weapons pointed in both directions, yes.

00:45:54.000 So this could have gone bad very quickly?

00:46:00.000 Well that's, you could make a TV show out of this one incident.

00:46:05.000 Well, you know, pretty much I think The whole reason for letting this story out and doing the press release.

00:46:18.000 But the public needs to be aware of the fact that we do need help from our government in order to finance and hire more people to try to do our job.

00:46:34.000 I mean, obviously, I'm here in Texas, so I read about it more than, say, somebody in Kansas City or up in New York.

00:46:54.000 Well, in past years, I think in 2002 and in 2003, there was also a couple more incidents down there.

00:47:03.000 In one case, there was a Border Patrol agent that was shot in the leg while they were trying to get in on another load of dope, a smuggling load.

00:47:15.000 And there's been another case where Border Patrol agents were ran out with a vehicle and there were shots fired.

00:47:25.000 We had another incident.

00:47:31.000 I don't know if you know what a quinceanera is, but it's like a birthday party, a 15th birthday party celebration for a young lady that the Mexicans celebrate and call it a quinceanera.

00:47:49.000 We had an incident where a car lifted came through on a road right next to where one of these parties was going.

00:47:55.000 There was a lot of small children in the area.

00:47:59.000 And proceeded south back toward the river and there were shots fired and exchanged on that incident.

01:16:51.000 But Noel Twyman, the author of Bloody Treason, about a 900-page book about the individuals and groups who appear to have been involved in the assassination, consulted with Roderick Ryan, a special effects expert who actually won the Academy Award in the year 2000 for his contributions to cinema, who told him that that had been painted in.

01:17:10.000 What we've discovered, Alex, is that the Zephruder film, which most persons tend to assume is an authentic record of the assassination, has been massively recreated using Techniques of optical printing and special effects, where you can combine any foreground with any background.

01:17:53.000 You may recall that when the frames were actually published in the supporting volumes for the Warren Report, that frames 314 and 315, which immediately follow the hit frame of 313, were published in reverse order.
