00:00:38.000 And not only was he arrested for turning without signaling, basically, he refused an illegal search on his car.

00:00:44.000 There was no probable cause to have him get out of the car and have it searched again.

00:00:49.000 I mean, how many times have you made a right or a left turn on a small road and not signaled? 0.96

00:00:56.000 However, that didn't stop the cop from Grabbing him out of the car, searching his car anyway, bring him down to the station, and arresting him.

00:01:09.000 A fallen county driver did not, and that mistake landed him in jail.

00:01:14.000 An arrest for not using the turn signal is so rare that even the Melissa police chief has never heard of it happening.

00:01:21.000 But as Channel H Jonathan Betts explains, it's completely legal.

00:01:24.000 *throwing* Mark Robinson was driving through downtown Melissa last week when he was pulled over for failing to use his turn signal.

00:01:34.000 But instead of just getting a ticket, the officer took the 24-year-old to jail.

00:01:39.000 He was booked, strip-searched, and sat for three hours, he says, with criminals.

00:01:44.000 People talking about using drugs and shooting heroin.

00:01:48.000 They asked me what I was in there for, and I told them, well, a turn signal violation.

00:01:52.000 There aren't any warrants out for Robinson.

00:01:54.000 In fact, he says he's never even been in jail.

00:01:56.000 But he does admit to challenging the officer's questions during the stop.

00:02:00.000 It's just unacceptable to me to have my son thrown in jail for such a minor offense.

00:02:05.000 His father thinks the officer assumed he had drugs because of his age, which he didn't.

00:02:10.000 I think if they stopped me in the same circumstances, I would have never gone to jail or probably never even got a ticket.

00:02:15.000 In fact, News 8 contacted various cities in Collin County, many of which have not made a single arrest this year for turn signal violations.

00:02:23.000 Even the police chief and Melissa acknowledges he's never seen this happen in his own city.

00:02:27.000 In the six years that I've been the police chief, this is the first time.

00:02:31.000 But he stands behind his officer, saying state law gives him the power to arrest someone for many crimes, no matter how minor.

00:02:37.000 I can't discuss the specifics of the case.

00:02:40.000 The officer was within his right to arrest the person, and which he did.

00:02:44.000 Still, he tells News 8 this afternoon he will review department policy and may make changes.

00:02:50.000 For Mark Robinson, what he most wants is an apology.

00:02:53.000 He says for a trip he never should have been forced to make.

00:11:16.000 A half dozen police officers kicked and beat three men pulled from a car during a traffic stop as a TV helicopter taped the confrontation, reports the Associated Press.

00:11:28.000 It might even be a baker's dozen.

00:11:35.000 The video shot by WTXF TV shows three police cars stopping a car Monday, two days after a city officer was shot to death responding to a bank robbery.

00:11:48.000 Oh, well, we only beat these guys up because somebody got shot two days ago.

00:11:53.000 Sure, these aren't the same guys, and we really didn't have any reason to suspect that they were involved in the bank robbery, but they were a color we didn't like.

00:12:03.000 In other words, after a fellow gang member was shot and killed protecting the bank, the largest gang in Philadelphia wanted revenge and blood.

00:12:11.000 Of course, that's the real job of the cops.

00:12:14.000 Protect banks, not the public at large.

00:12:18.000 The tape shows about a dozen officers gathering around the vehicle.

00:12:54.000 Yeah, let's not rush to judgment after we watch the video of these guys getting beat to a bloody pulp by officers who are soccer-kicking them and wielding batons.

00:13:38.000 See, if they were really responding to a shooting and these guys, they thought these guys had guns, there's no way it would have went down the way it did.

00:13:49.000 What they do is they surround the car, they pull their guns, and then they get everybody out of the vehicle slowly.

00:28:38.000 I knew I have a fourth amendment right, and all that, and I said, you know, that whatever, I didn't even stop him from searching my truck, because he'd probably, you know, arrest me for- No, you'd probably go to jail downtown, right away, as soon as you start challenging the officers.

01:40:51.000 And to some extent, there were those within the Bush administration that were absolutely involved in the planning and the execution of this attack.

01:41:14.000 And he grabbed Justin Martel, put his arm around him, he said, you know, there's going to be a lot coming out about 9-11 in the next few years.

01:41:21.000 And this same man, when he was confronted by Luke Rudowsky about his meeting with General Mahmood Ahmed, the Pakistani funding arm of the hijackers, he said it was classified after he actually admitted that he was in a meeting and he was telling them to stop funding him.

01:41:39.000 I think that they're going to let it out at such an incremental level it'll never even be up for discussion in the mainstream media that we need to now eviscerate the Patriot Acts 1 and 2 and we need to get rid of Homeland Security.

02:25:07.000 Well, now they allow you to board a plane, but the last time I got on a plane with a lighter, they scanned through my bag.

02:25:13.000 I had three other lighters in there, and they're like, well, you got a choice.

02:25:17.000 They're like, oh, which one do you want to keep?

02:25:18.000 I'm like, I don't care, man.

02:25:20.000 I'm like, this is taking another 10 minutes because you want to take my lighters away, but I can have one.

02:25:29.000 But it's about maintaining this false sense of insecurity.

02:25:36.000 If we agree, which most people would, that, you know, the principal goal of terrorists is to create enough fear amongst the population.

02:25:52.000 So the only, you know, the only way they can do it is by generating enough fear to make people believe that their life is significantly threatened by potential terrorism if they don't follow all these ridiculous rules like, you know, getting rid of their lighters and carrying their liquid through airports in transparent plastic bags.

02:26:16.000 Governments are really trying to win a war on terror, as they constantly remind us.

02:26:22.000 And what they would do is sideline and downplay the ability of terrorists to carry out terrorism.

02:26:30.000 Because, as the figures show, you know, you've got more chance of drowning in your own swimming pool than being killed by a terrorist.

02:26:37.000 So the question is, why is the government inflating the influence of terrorists by fear-mongering about a danger that's minuscule?

02:26:47.000 Yeah, it seems like, you know, the terrorists, quote-unquote, hating our freedoms, and that's why they did it.

02:26:52.000 Well, if the terrorists hate our freedoms so much, no one has done a better job from taking those freedoms away from us than this administration and departments like that of Homeland Security, you know, legislation like Patriot Act 1 and 2, initially the Military Commissions Act, which ended habeas corpus the right to face your accuser.

02:27:12.000 And again, around since 1215.

02:27:14.000 And the Magna Carta folks, and that's gone.

02:27:17.000 They can literally charge you with something, scoop you up, throw you in a black hole, maybe take you to Gitmo for some waterboarding and such, and that's it.

02:27:25.000 They don't have to tell anybody about you, they don't have to report to you, they don't even have to give you a military tribunal at this point.

02:27:31.000 And that's the kind of legislation that has been passed, not through, you know, Muslim extremists, but by this administration and this country, and it's very scary to me, Paul.

They think that every time they go out on patrol that their lives is in mortal danger, because that's what they're being trained is happening out on the streets.

02:43:16.000 You know, so the universities that the government likes, they're going to allow them to be the major domain names, that way that, you know, the government can keep control over them and give an illusion Yeah, That's the norm.

02:43:39.000 I mean, we have little video games on the Internet now for children, for preschool-age children and kindergartners to fight terrorism.

02:43:50.000 they had those things through the FEMA website and so forth, but I mean, yeah, Universities have always been breeding grounds for minions of the elite.

02:44:08.000 The fact that Homeland Security and, in this country, MI5 are doing it is public knowledge.

02:44:31.000 I want to let everybody know that they use Google Ads, so sometimes a military ad for the Army or Homeland Security is going to pop up until they actually block that code or something for John McCain.

02:44:49.000 And, you know, we talked about how universities have always been used as front groups.

02:44:58.000 For instance, San Diego State University was just raided in this huge drug bust, and one of the students there that was, you know, in the criminal justice department, about to become a member of Homeland Security, Well, I mean, yeah, bad people gravitate towards power.

02:45:31.000 But I mean, yeah, I don't think many people would actively seek to be in Homeland Security.

02:45:53.000 I don't think many admirable people would gravitate towards Homeland Security unless they were aggressively recruited, which is what's going on.

02:46:43.000 And in the end, he tells me, well, it's your fault because, you know, you shouldn't be out here.

02:46:50.000 So it might be They have no authority, one state, commit a crime.

02:47:51.000 I'm a former law enforcement officer, and then the multiple agency drill that you were talking about with Homeland Security and all that kind of stuff, and then also to the airports.

02:48:03.000 As far as police and doing something, it took me over two and a half years to get into law enforcement.

02:48:09.000 It's not an easy process to get into.

02:48:12.000 Within about a year of being there, I made a decision to leave law enforcement because I felt that the cost of compromise for the ideology that you were taking on was much, much, much too expensive for what you were giving up.

02:48:31.000 It was like surrendering freedoms or taking freedoms from people on a daily basis.

02:48:35.000 It was just not a pretty situation for me personally to be in.

02:48:39.000 I didn't like it.

02:48:41.000 And when you look at the public, they condition the officers to do exactly what you said, which is to look at every person as a possible life-threatening situation.

02:48:52.000 And so therefore people don't get treated consistently based on the way they act.

02:48:58.000 They get treated based on the way that the officer is viewing the world.

02:49:02.000 He's saying things that he is not.

02:49:04.000 And Joe, isn't it true they train you to lie to these people to see what you can get out of them?

02:49:08.000 You're told in your training that it is not illegal for you to lie to them, so if you need to lie, then go ahead and lie.

02:49:16.000 And you're also told that if they lie to you while giving a statement for any reason, then they have perjured themselves because they are technically under oath.

02:49:28.000 Excellent, so it's a double standard in favor of the police to lie to you to try to get information out of you, and then if you don't feel like giving them that information, you say something to the contrary, automatically you've been perjured, now it's probably probable cause, now you have to get out of the car, now you need to be searched, and you can be taken down for questioning, correct?

02:49:48.000 At the very least, it's given them reasonable suspicion to continue to detain you, and so they feel that they can justify that in their report somehow.

02:49:58.000 I found that personally just defensive.

02:55:21.000 Yesterday, we had a story out of Melissa, Texas, where a man was actually arrested for turning without signaling.

02:55:31.000 I mean, it gets to that level where the police are being told that they can use any measure they like to try and go out there and pursue a criminal, and they've already decided that we're all criminals before, you know, guilty until proven innocent.

02:55:45.000 You know, and I played that news clip yesterday.

02:55:48.000 I'm sorry, the story from yesterday.

02:55:50.000 I played it earlier on the show, and you know, when the cop, the police chief, is actually asked about it, he's like, yeah, you know, I've been police chief for like six years, and we've never arrested anybody for a turn signal, but before all the info's in, I'm defending my officer, and he was well within his rights to do that.

02:56:07.000 You can arrest people for a lot of things.

02:56:09.000 He just broadened it to basically anything.

02:56:11.000 You could be jaywalking and be detained, apparently, and be brought down into a cell.

02:56:15.000 And the kid's sitting there talking with his dad to the news media, and he's like, yeah, you know, these other guys were like, oh, I'm in here for heroin, or I'm in here for crystal meth.

02:56:24.000 And he's like, I didn't put my turn signal on.

02:56:26.000 And even the criminals were like, come on.

02:56:28.000 Come on.

02:56:29.000 You got to be kidding me.

02:56:30.000 They wouldn't arrest you for that.

02:56:31.000 But I think it was more along the lines of, you know, like his father said, they pulled him over, they thought they were going to get some kind of a drug bust out of it or a score, especially when he said, you know, wait a minute, I am an American citizen, I have a Fourth Amendment, right?

02:56:44.000 I haven't done anything wrong.

02:56:46.000 No, you can't search my vehicle.

02:56:48.000 And then as soon as he says, no, you can't search my vehicle, alarm bells go off in this twisted cop's mind.

02:56:53.000 Uh-oh, I can't search his vehicle.

02:56:55.000 I have to search his vehicle now, whether I have probable cause or not.

02:56:58.000 And that's essentially what he does.

02:56:59.000 He rips him out of the car, he searches the car anyway, then when he doesn't find anything, he's thinking to himself, oh man, I didn't find anything, now what am I gonna do? 0.99

02:57:28.000 in philadelphia i think wanted to beat these guys not everybody gets involved but the more you see it you see people running and from different cars and it's it's just like i said earlier again if these people were really thought to be you know the guys who murdered this cop two days ago and arm there's no way the police were rushed the car like that they were surrounded the vehicle they would've pulled their guns they would have all three passengers get out with their hands up and go on their belly and then go arrest them instead they charge the car and literally just Beat the hell out of
