00:00:03.000 Be crammed into this rat name. 1.00
00:00:05.000 We should not submit to dehumanization. 0.98
00:00:08.000 I don't know about you, but I'm concerned with what's happening in this world.
00:00:12.000 I'm concerned with the structure.
00:00:13.000 I'm concerned with the systems of control.
00:00:16.000 Those that control my life and those that seek to control it even more!
00:00:20.000 I want freedom!
00:00:21.000 That's what I want!
00:00:22.000 And that's what Jay should want!
00:00:24.000 It's up to each and every one of us to turn into some of the greed, the hatred, the envy, and yes, the insecurities.
00:00:31.000 Because that is a simple mode of control.
00:00:33.000 Make us feel pathetic, small.
00:00:34.000 So we'll willingly give up our sovereignty, our liberty, our destiny. 0.94
00:00:39.000 We have got to realize we're being conditioned on a mass scale.
00:00:44.000 Start challenging this corporate slave state.
00:00:47.000 The 21st century, during the end of the century.
00:00:49.000 Not the century of slavery, not the century of lies, issues of no significance, and classism, and statism, and all the rest of the modes of control.
00:00:58.000 It's going to be the age of humankind standing up for something pure and something right.
00:01:03.000 No budget garbage, liberal, democratic, conservative, republican.
00:01:07.000 It's all under control of the two sides of the same coin.
00:01:11.000 Two management teams getting for control the CEO job are slightly incorporated.
00:01:16.000 The truth is out there in front of you when they lay out this buffet of pies.
00:01:20.000 I'm sick of it, and I'm not going to take a bite out of it.
00:01:23.000 Do you got me?
00:01:25.000 Persistence is not futile.
00:01:26.000 We're going to win this thing.
00:01:28.000 Humankind is too good.
00:01:29.000 We're not a bunch of underachievers.
00:01:31.000 We're going to stand up and we're going to be human beings.
00:01:34.000 We're going to get fired up about the real things.
00:01:36.000 The things that matter.
00:01:38.000 Creativity and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.
00:01:42.000 Well, that's it.
00:01:43.000 That's all I've got to say.
00:01:44.000 Senior Corps! ...of that entire region.
00:01:55.000 Problem, reaction, solution over and over again.
00:01:58.000 In fact, here's the analysis of Hamas history tied to Israel, United Press International, by Richard Sale.
00:02:06.000 And it details this.
00:02:08.000 Here is another one from the Center for Research on Globalism.
00:02:12.000 Israeli roots of Hamas are being exposed.
00:02:14.000 Not just the roots, but modern-day terrorism controlled by Israel.
00:02:19.000 I mentioned this story out of the Sunday Herald.
00:02:22.000 The Army asked me to make bombs for the IRA, told me I had the Prime Minister's blessing.
00:02:28.000 Exclusive confessions of a secret agent.
00:02:31.000 British intelligence.
00:02:33.000 Army intelligence.
00:02:34.000 IRA torture was in the Royal Marines.
00:02:38.000 Loyalist killer admits to being RUC informer.
00:02:42.000 Oh, before I forget, another tidbit in this information overload.
00:02:46.000 The London Guardian broke a story on March 26, 2001. It came out in court in Italy.
00:02:53.000 The former head of Italian intelligence said that in the 1970s, the left wing was getting out of the control of the government.
00:03:02.000 And so the CIA went in and hired the right wing to carry out terrorist attacks to be blamed on the left wing.
00:03:14.000 Headline, terrorists helped by CIA to stop the rise of left in Italy.
00:03:17.000 So the left gets out of the control of the globalists.
00:03:20.000 And off the reservation, the globalists will blow stuff up and blame it on the left.
00:03:24.000 If the right gets out of their control, they'll blow stuff up and blame it on the right.
00:03:28.000 It's done over and over and over again.
00:03:30.000 Just another example.
00:03:31.000 Here's another one.
00:03:32.000 Al Qaeda suspects hidden by UK agents.
00:03:35.000 Jack Straw, foreign minister for Britain, faces government grilling over Bali bombing.
00:03:41.000 Turns out that they, quote, had prior knowledge and told the Bali's government not.
00:03:47.000 To warn the people.
00:03:48.000 They also told the Taiwanese found out about it, and the U.S. government told them not to warn the folks in Bali.
00:03:56.000 And the evidence shows that it was a military job, and it looks like it was done to get the Australians behind the war. 0.72
00:04:01.000 A tourist bar was targeted full of Australians, and now the Australians are cracking down on their people and taking all of their liberties just over and over and over again.
00:04:10.000 The families of the victims in Australia aren't sitting down and taking it quietly.
00:04:15.000 They went after the Australian premier at a press conference on the volley bombing and accused them of having knowledge or being involved.
00:04:23.000 And the evidence is they were.
00:04:24.000 Here's another one from the Associated Press.
00:04:27.000 In 2003, FBI recruited and protected violent informants nationwide for decades.
00:04:32.000 And you read into the article, it's come out in court, the FBI controlled mafia hitmen.
00:04:38.000 And controlled the drug dealing on the East and West Coast and had killers going after people that were trying to stop drug dealers.
00:04:46.000 In some cases, police officers that were doing their job were being targeted by FBI agents using organized crime.
00:04:54.000 I mean, folks, and this is the government that wants to take all your liberties under Patriot Act II. Then you have Russia. 0.78
00:05:00.000 Putin was conclusively caught by Moscow police using the new KGB, the FSB, to carry out bombings.
00:05:06.000 And when a Russian media tycoon exposed the story, Putin tried to have him arrested, and he had to flee the country.
00:05:13.000 There are so many other examples of government-sponsored terrorism.
00:05:16.000 They've admitted under Project SHAD in the 70s, they sprayed our troops with chemicals and biologicals on ships.
00:05:24.000 Incredible illnesses and even some deaths resulted.
00:05:26.000 They admit that they sprayed U.S. states thousands of times from Alaska to Florida.
00:05:33.000 They just calmly announced it.
00:05:34.000 It's not even a major news headline.
00:05:36.000 That's one of the tactics the propagandists use. 0.98
00:05:38.000 They will minimize massive news stories by burying them in the paper and then have a hundred reports about how to bake a cake or roast a turkey.
00:05:48.000 And now the Army and Homeland Security are announcing that they're going to have biological spraying of Bracillus throngenesis, a dangerous bacteria, over many areas of Oklahoma.
00:06:00.000 Now, people in Oklahoma have been talking to me about this tonight and saying, you know, anything coming out of a plane landing on my state, I think that seems suspicious.
00:06:08.000 And the folks I've talked to tonight say they're feeling a sense of homeland insecurity.
00:06:13.000 Again, just setting the precedent.
00:06:14.000 They can spray us whenever they want.
00:06:17.000 Here's another headline.
00:06:18.000 Records, U.S. did open-air biological chemical weapons test in Florida.
00:06:23.000 Again, Associated Press, chemical weapons test by the U.S. in the 60s against servicemen.
00:06:29.000 Here was a Sunday Herald story out of Britain revealed how naval intelligence tested lethal plague bombs off Scotland that then blew into the coastline.
00:06:39.000 Porton down used soldiers for sarin gas test in 1983. Deadly gas.
00:06:44.000 These people died from it.
00:06:46.000 Red Cross faces scrutiny.
00:06:48.000 Sydney Morning Herald.
00:06:49.000 They got caught.
00:06:49.000 The federal government yesterday ordered an inquiry into the deliberate use of potentially contaminated blood to make medical products used by thousands of hospitals, patients, and hemophiliacs.
00:06:58.000 And it says they told people giving blood, we don't care if you have hepatitis C. Give us blood!
00:07:03.000 And publicly put it in the blood supply.
00:07:06.000 Here's another one.
00:07:08.000 UN complicit in forced sterilization.
00:07:10.000 Still going on.
00:07:11.000 Eugenics. 0.69
00:07:11.000 Nazi programs. 0.69
00:07:13.000 They call it bioethics today.
00:07:15.000 Here's another one.
00:07:16.000 Britain toy with ethnic cleansing. 0.75
00:07:17.000 Leaders considered forcibly moving Roman Catholics to Irish Republic.
00:07:22.000 This stuff comes out every day.
00:07:23.000 They just calmly announce it.
00:07:25.000 They're behind all the terror.
00:07:27.000 We've never found a terrorist incident of any real size or scope that was carried out by anyone but the government.
00:07:34.000 There's a few lone nuts that do a few Badly coordinated, tiny attacks, but every major attack is controlled by the globalists and their provocateurs.
00:07:45.000 I just want you to realize who we're dealing with, who we're facing here, America. 0.90
00:07:50.000 A bunch of criminal hoodlums, military industrial complex minions.
00:07:56.000 Using Madison Avenue advertising, propaganda, brainwashing techniques to neutralize opposition to the New World Order. 0.74
00:08:04.000 You know, they got you to deny its existence while they were building this worldwide police state for total enslavement.
00:08:10.000 Now it's upon you and they're saying accept it or the terrorists are going to get you.
00:08:14.000 Wake up, man!
00:08:15.000 Your kids are worth it!
00:08:17.000 The truth is getting out to the American people.
00:08:19.000 And as the liberals and the conservatives wake up to the fact that we have manufactured consent in this country and that there's no real debate about serious issues, just simply staged theatrical events, we can begin to get our Bill of Rights and Constitution back.
00:08:36.000 All Americans should be constitutionalists because the Constitution and Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence state the facts of history.
00:08:45.000 Governments become tyrannical.
00:08:47.000 They attempt to dominate populations, and they must be resisted.
00:08:53.000 And mistrust of government, a watchful nature, must be promoted and supported in a country if it's going to be free.
00:09:03.000 Elites throughout history have wanted just a few things.
00:09:06.000 To expand their control and to maintain that control, and to block any rivals to that control.
00:09:13.000 And to do that, they have to dumb down populations.
00:09:16.000 They have to create terrorist acts to scare them into submission. 0.54
00:09:19.000 And the New World Order is simply the latest in a long line of empires, of strong men, of king rats that have attempted to dominate and abuse their populations.
00:09:30.000 And they can't help it.
00:09:31.000 They will always abuse their populations because their own minions, their own servants, their own enforcers Enjoy abusing people. 0.97
00:09:39.000 They're sadistic.
00:09:40.000 And they like to expand their own little mini-empires inside of a tyrannical, dehumanizing, total enslavement program. 0.98
00:09:49.000 It is the law of the jungle.
00:09:51.000 It is the law of world history.
00:09:54.000 And as a great statesman said, those that don't know history are doomed to repeat it.
00:09:59.000 Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
00:10:04.000 And I know this.
00:10:05.000 Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.
00:10:09.000 Let's look at the Patriot Act 1 and 2 and what Homeland Security sets up here in the United States.
00:10:18.000 Using the pretext of terror, in the wake of September 11th tragedy, the federal government passed the Patriot Act 2. Members of Congress were not even allowed to read it.
00:10:29.000 They were ordered by committee chairmen to go out on the floor and vote for something they had never read.
00:10:34.000 Patriot Act 1 destroyed large sections of the Bill of Rights.
00:10:41.000 It annihilated the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th Amendment, seriously damaged the 7th and the 10th. 0.50
00:10:50.000 Now there's Patriot Act 2, as if Patriot Act 1 wasn't good enough.
00:10:58.000 Congressman Ron Paul, when speaking to Insight Magazine, told them that no member of Congress was allowed to read the First Patriot Act.
00:11:05.000 It was passed by the House on October 27, 2001. The First Patriot Act was universally decried by civil libertarians and constitutional scholars from across the political spectrum.
00:11:15.000 William Safire, while writing for the New York Times, described the First Patriot Act as powers by saying that President Bush was seizing dictatorial control.
00:11:23.000 On February 7, 2003, the Center for Public Integrity, a nonpartisan public interest think tank in D.C., revealed the full text of the Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003. The classified document had been leaked to them by an unnamed source inside the federal government.
00:11:38.000 The document consisted of a 33-page section by section analysis and the accompanying 87-page bill.
00:11:45.000 And all this time, after they were caught, the White House tried to deny it.
00:11:50.000 There is not a proposed terrorist act, too.
00:11:53.000 Then it turned out the bill had actually already been introduced as S-22 by the Democrats.
00:11:59.000 In fact, the title was almost identical.
00:12:02.000 Whereas the House version was the Domestic Security Enhancement Act, the Senate version was the Justice and Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003. The only difference with the Senate version is it's full of gun control laws, like Our Lady of Peace Act that registers gun owners, a national ballistics database, shuts down private sellers at gun shows.
00:12:25.000 It just dwarfs the 1968 Gun Control Act.
00:12:29.000 And by the way, Republicans are supporting this legislation.
00:12:36.000 89 has also been introduced.
00:12:38.000 It's the Universal National Service Act of 2003. Let me tell you, it's the hallmark of a command and control society.
00:12:46.000 The description of the bill is to provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons in the United States, including women, perform a period of military service or civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security and for other purposes.
00:12:59.000 We have looked at some of the programs the federal government has already been setting up for national service here in the new homeland and they include East German style tattletale squads of every type which are just basically a super tips program.
00:13:15.000 It's similar to programs they've had in Russia since Stalin's era and continuing to this day where they take junior high and high school students and train them in warrant service, gun confiscation, tax police. 0.73
00:13:27.000 A fugitive apprehension, you name it.
00:13:29.000 Literal Hitlerjugend, brown shirts. 0.59
00:13:33.000 Taking 11-year-old children and teaching them the finer points of collecting taxes.
00:13:38.000 And teaching them to do this.
00:13:42.000 These are their role models.
00:13:44.000 Russia's rough and ready tax police.
00:13:47.000 They knock on the door.
00:13:48.000 You know it's time to pay your taxes.
00:13:50.000 They wear black masks and are famous for beating up tax cheats in the Russian mafia.
00:13:56.000 Their motto?
00:13:57.000 We have guns, and we know how to use them.
00:14:00.000 The Patriot Act II bill itself is stamped confidential, not for distribution.
00:14:05.000 Upon reading the analysis of the bill, I was stunned by the systematically crafted tyranny contained in the legislation.
00:14:11.000 The Just Department Office of Legislative Affairs admits that they have indeed covertly transmitted a copy of legislation.
00:14:18.000 The Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert, and of course Roy told us the Democrats have already introduced the bill.
00:14:24.000 And there's dozens of sections in it, actually hundreds of sections in it, but Section 501 allows them to strip Americans of their citizenship and designate them for enemy combatants under Section 802 of the first Patriot Act that reads any action that endangers human life that is a violation of any federal or state law.
00:14:45.000 Now understand, you think this is just for, you know, Habib Ahmed, the terrorist suspect over in Jordan, so you don't think it will affect you.
00:14:53.000 It says over and over again to fight international terrorism, domestic terrorism, and crime.
00:15:00.000 The definition of terrorism, again, any action that endangers human life that violates any federal or state law.
00:15:06.000 That's the first Patriot Act.
00:15:08.000 They now say in Patriot Act 2 that they'll strip you of citizenship, secretly arrest you...
00:15:14.000 And yes, even secretly execute you in one of the subsections.
00:15:20.000 I mean, Hitler didn't even have the nerve to put stuff like that down on paper. 0.83
00:15:23.000 He just did it.
00:15:25.000 You're thinking, hey, Patriot Act 2 hasn't passed.
00:15:27.000 Well, as soon as they engineer a terrorist attack, it will.
00:15:30.000 And they've even said that if there's another terrorist attack, they'll pass it.
00:15:34.000 The war on terrorism was not just 9-11.
00:15:37.000 That was just one of the battles.
00:15:39.000 When you go to the grocery store and when you go to the football arena or other places, you have to think about these things differently.
00:15:45.000 So look what they've set up here.
00:15:47.000 Every time there's attack, they take more liberties while they leave the border wide open.
00:15:51.000 Just a few more attacks will be more enslaved than somebody in Soviet Russia. 0.51
00:15:56.000 And it also has a subsection where if you know that your neighbor was grabbed by the police and you tell anyone, you can be designated as a terrorist and then be grabbed.
00:16:06.000 I mean, this is something out of Alexander Shultzenitsa's Gulag Archipelago, but worse, and right here in America. 0.79
00:16:13.000 Section 501, the enemy combatant designation, and they're already grabbing citizens under this and federal courts are saying that they can do this because there is no constitutional rights during the war on terror.
00:16:25.000 It is my responsibility to provide a legal framework and context in which detentions are understood and sustained.
00:16:33.000 What a perfect war. 0.99
00:16:34.000 Some shadowy enemy you can never catch, and of course it's the government, carrying out these attacks, and the war just goes on and on and on.
00:16:41.000 Section 201 of the Second Patriot Act makes it a criminal act for any member of the government or citizen to release any information concerning the incarceration or whereabouts of detainees.
00:16:52.000 It also states that law enforcement does not even have to tell the press who they have arrested and they never have to release their names.
00:16:58.000 That's what we always heard about Guatemala or Communist China or Cuba.
00:17:02.000 They just, oh, you know, Felipe, they came and got him and he's gone and you don't talk about it.
00:17:08.000 Section 311 gives immunity to law enforcement engaging in spying operations against the American people.
00:17:14.000 We're going beyond governments.
00:17:16.000 We're going into the hearts and minds of individuals.
00:17:20.000 There's more sections who say that private corporations can spy on you and have no liability.
00:17:25.000 They even state in some of the other sections that you won't have...
00:17:31.000 Any rights under the Fourth Amendment and that police don't even have to get secret warrants anymore, that they can just break in your home if they feel like it without a warrant, take whatever they want and never tell you they were there, or plant things there.
00:17:45.000 My friends, you have got to read Patriot Act 2, and you've got to read our analysis of it at Infowars.com.
00:17:52.000 Section by section, you can then go to the bill, the House and Senate version, look at it.
00:17:57.000 For yourself.
00:17:58.000 We've been analyzing the House version here for you section by section.
00:18:04.000 It's just the end of America.
00:18:07.000 There's no other way to describe it.
00:18:09.000 Invasion of privacy.
00:18:10.000 How omniscient government supercomputers can work for you.
00:18:13.000 Losing something can be so frustrating.
00:18:16.000 It's hard to remember where we put things.
00:18:19.000 And psychics can be so expensive. 0.53
00:18:21.000 But thanks to the new Department of Homeland Security, losing something will soon be a thing of the past.
00:18:29.000 I'm the Constitution hugger.
00:18:33.000 Hey guys, where are my keys?
00:18:37.000 You guys are sweethearts.
00:18:42.000 Homeland Security is every Patriot's duty.
00:18:45.000 You can get into the act, too.
00:18:49.000 But, Stephen, you're probably being recorded as saying, Doesn't all this government spying on its citizens mean losing our basic freedoms?
00:18:57.000 Of course not.
00:18:59.000 It means gaining limits on those freedoms.
00:19:02.000 Something Uncle Sam likes to call Freedom Plus.
00:19:05.000 And there's so many more benefits.
00:19:08.000 In a fear-based economy, everybody's a spy.
00:19:11.000 Total surveillance means total employment.
00:19:13.000 Also, all additional benefits classified under the United States Patriot Act of 2001. For further information about these benefits, report to federal detention centers.
00:19:22.000 Happy clown candy centers.
00:19:24.000 Of course, not everybody can handle that much freedom.
00:19:28.000 For those who absolutely need their privacy, these convenient privacy boxes are just the ticket to get away from it all.
00:19:37.000 I'm Stephen Colbert.
00:19:38.000 I hope you've learned something tonight, but most of all, I hope you enjoy the police state.
00:19:45.000 Attorney General John Ashcroft.
00:19:47.000 Shortly after the passage of the first Patriot Act in the aftermath of September 11th in late 2001, told a Senate panel in Congress that the Patriot Act didn't take anyone's liberties and that people that talked about phantoms of lost liberties were aiding the terrorists and that they would lose their liberties, that they were adding to the fog of war.
00:20:14.000 Talk about doublespeak. 0.98
00:20:16.000 He's saying we're not taking your liberties, but if you say we're taking your liberties, you aid the enemy, we'll take your liberties.
00:20:21.000 But he one-upped himself when it comes to out-and-out bald-faced lies.
00:20:28.000 In 2003, while testifying before the House and Senate on two separate occasions, Mr. Ashcroft, upon being questioned about Patriot Act II that dwarfs Patriot Act I and its police state, Provisions.
00:20:45.000 They said, tell us about Patriot Act II, which everybody has a copy of and has been introduced in the Senate.
00:20:51.000 And Mr. Ashcroft said there is no Patriot Act II. Well, I guess in lawyers speaking, he was telling the truth.
00:20:57.000 The actual title of what is now known as Patriot Act II is the Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003. So let's go to some clips of...
00:21:09.000 Ashcroft back in 2001 saying they're not taking your liberty, and then lying again in 2003 saying there is no Patriot Act II. Under Director Bob Mueller, the FBI is undergoing an historic reorganization to put the prevention of terrorism at the center of its law enforcement and national security effort.
00:21:30.000 Outside Washington, we are forging new relationships of cooperation with state and local law enforcement.
00:21:37.000 We've created 93 anti-terrorism task forces across the country in each U.S. Attorney's district to integrate the communications and activities of state, local, and federal law enforcement.
00:21:48.000 In all of these ways and more, the Department of Justice has sought to prevent terrorism with reason, careful balance, and excruciating attention to detail.
00:22:01.000 Some of our critics, I regret to say, have shown less affection for detail.
00:22:07.000 Their bold declaration of so-called facts have quickly dissolved upon inspection into vague conjecture.
00:22:15.000 Charges of kangaroo courts and shredding the Constitution give new meaning to the term fog of war.
00:22:24.000 Since lives and liberties depend on clarity, not obfuscation, and upon reason, not hyperbole, let me take this opportunity to be clear.
00:22:36.000 Each action taken by the Department of Justice, as well as the war crimes commissions considered by the President and the Department of Defense, is carefully drawn to target a narrow class of individuals, terrorists.
00:22:50.000 Our legal powers are targeted at terrorists.
00:22:54.000 Our investigation is focused on terrorists.
00:22:57.000 Our prevention strategy targets the terrorist threat.
00:23:00.000 The United States government has defined terrorists as those who perpetrate premeditated, politically motivated violence against non-combatant targets.
00:23:11.000 My message to America this morning then is this.
00:23:15.000 If you fit this definition of a terrorist, fear the United States, for you will lose your liberty.
00:23:24.000 We need honest, reasoned debate, not fear-mongering.
00:23:29.000 To those who pit Americans against immigrants and citizens against non-citizens, to those who scare peace-loving people with phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this.
00:23:41.000 Your tactics only aid terrorists.
00:23:47.000 Senator, with your permission, I'd like to respond to the suggestion that there is a Patriot Act II. When individuals indicate to you that if there is a proposal, we'll confer with you, I believe they are right.
00:24:03.000 There is not a proposed terrorist act, too, from the Justice Department.
00:24:07.000 I want history to judge you as the one who, during a very difficult period, tried to strike a balance and not one who allowed people to get carried away to a point where we hurt ourselves and threw away our Constitution.
00:24:21.000 Man, it took a lot of nerve, didn't it, for him to get up there and say that? 0.99
00:24:24.000 But Ashcroft is counting on you to be stupid, to be fooled, to not check out the legislation. 0.98
00:24:32.000 I recommend that you routinely visit Infowars.com where we post key legislation that comes to our attention. 0.95
00:24:39.000 But look, we're not omnipresent, and we can't keep track of these tens of thousands of bills, so it's more important for you to go to the Library of Congress website at thomas.loc.gov.
00:24:50.000 And peruse the bills for yourself and maybe you can find something like Patriot Act II and alert folks in the alternative media so we can warn the American people and stop the New World Order from totally destroying the Bill of Rights and Constitution.
00:25:06.000 I am glad to see though that constitutional scholars on the left and right have been universally decrying Patriot Act II. Saying that it's even worse than the first Patriot Act.
00:25:19.000 In fact, the Center for Accuracy in Reporting said that it is basically the end of America.
00:25:26.000 Conservative backlash.
00:25:28.000 Provisions of Patriot 2 draft worry those on the right.
00:25:32.000 The opposite ends of the political spectrum are coming together over the war on terror.
00:25:36.000 But not in the way Attorney General John Ashcroft may have wanted.
00:25:40.000 And after all this heat, he tried to deny it even existed after it's introduced in the House by Republicans and enrolled in the Senate by Democrats.
00:25:51.000 And they go on to report that federal courts, despite the fact that legislation hasn't passed, are already ruling that the government can hold U.S. citizens as enemy combatants during wartime without the constitutional Protections afforded Americans in criminal prosecutions.
00:26:06.000 Isn't that nice?
00:26:08.000 You're guilty until proven guilty.
00:26:11.000 Not even guilty until proven innocent.
00:26:12.000 They've gone light years down the rat hole past innocent until proven guilty.
00:26:18.000 Another headline, CBS News, Feds win big on citizens' rights.
00:26:21.000 What a deceptive headline.
00:26:23.000 It goes on to say, Attorney General John Ashcroft himself had sat down to write a legal opinion that supported President Bush's immense power to strip U.S. citizens of his constitutional rights.
00:26:32.000 He probably could not have penned one more powerful and sweeping than the 54-page ruling offered Wednesday by the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
00:26:41.000 And it says you have no rights, you can be secretly grabbed and never seen again for no reason.
00:26:45.000 It actually says it.
00:26:48.000 In fact, the new Patriot Act says Section 802 of the first Patriot Act isn't strong enough.
00:26:54.000 Any action that endangers human life that's a violation of any federal or state law.
00:27:00.000 It's just nuts!
00:27:02.000 It's crazy!
00:27:04.000 The good news is my resolution, I've written a resolution.
00:27:09.000 For cities to pass and counties to pass countering Patriot Act II and towns from Utah to Florida have passed the resolution.
00:27:18.000 Hundreds of other cities as big as Seattle or San Francisco have passed resolutions that they've written reaffirming the Bill of Rights and Constitution.
00:27:27.000 You need to try to get it passed in your area.
00:27:29.000 At least the process of trying to get it passed will educate folks about exactly what has happened.
00:27:36.000 Tonight on Now, we consider the subject of our personal freedom versus the public safety.
00:27:41.000 It's not a philosophical question for the more than 1,000 Muslim men who have been secretly jailed, many of them secretly deported without having been linked to terrorism.
00:27:50.000 It's not just a philosophical matter for the rest of us either.
00:27:53.000 Our government's claim of broad new powers to deal with terrorism puts America in a twilight zone.
00:27:59.000 To those who scare peace-loving people with phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this.
00:28:06.000 Your tactics only aid terrorists.
00:28:13.000 And here in the libraries, they're asking people to let them know what books you are reading.
00:28:19.000 Sneak and peek in people's houses, tap phones, tap email.
00:28:25.000 These citizens in Northampton, Massachusetts, are petitioning Congress to repair the damage and repeal provisions of the Patriot Act.
00:28:32.000 Other groups across the country are doing the same.
00:28:35.000 If more people knew what...
00:28:47.000 The city council of Fredericksburg and my family that lives here in Fredericksburg, I am honored to be here and I want to thank the citizens of Fredericksburg for asking me last Friday to come out and present this.
