00:22:14.000Putting a unique identification on every small weapon manufactured would enable authorities that seize illegal arms to find their origin and determine where they were first sold.
00:22:22.000Then the authorities could start tracing how the arms became part of the illegal weapons trade and plugged leakage points.
00:22:28.000According to documents seen by AP, leading arms manufacturers from the United States, Italy, Austria and France met in Paris on June 26th with representatives from Canada, France, Nigeria, the United States, Britain and Colombia and outlined their agreement.

Edward Rowe, a senior executive at U.S. arms producers Sturm, Ruger& Company, representing the arms manufacturers and former French Prime Minister Michel Rocard, co-chair of the Eminent Persons Group, a 23-member independent commission that seeks to control the spread of small arms.
