00:07:14.000 And you may remember that back in 2020 there was a commitment that was made, the Summer of Love for George Floyd.

00:07:21.000 All these major corporations made a commitment that they would try to reshuffle their boards and executive positions and they would try to increase the proportion of non-whites in response to the riots, which were apparently in response to historic inequality in America.

00:13:46.000 Our first story is about this new report about these S&P 500 companies.

00:13:51.000 Pretty outrageous and honestly it even surprised me.

00:13:55.000 And I remember when the George Floyd riots were going on they were making all these demands and they wanted to totally revolutionize the society.

00:14:04.000 It wasn't just about the police.

00:14:06.000 You know, they wanted to defund the police or abolish the police.

00:14:10.000 But there were also these calls about how it's not just law enforcement, it's the whole thing, and they always say this, the whole enchilada is racist, so we need more of everything.

00:14:23.000 We need more money, we need more jobs, we need more of them programs, more degrees, more whatever.

00:14:30.000 You name it, they wanted it.

00:14:31.000 More liquor, more iPhones.

00:14:34.000 That sort of thing.

00:14:36.000 And I remember at that time, everybody was on board.

00:14:41.000 Everybody felt like they had to do it.

00:14:42.000 It's kind of been amazing how the pendulum swings on this issue in particular.

00:14:47.000 Almost like no other issue.

00:14:50.000 Like Trayvon Martin getting killed.

00:14:53.000 That was a little bit before my time.

00:14:55.000 I hadn't really developed a political consciousness yet.

00:14:59.000 But it was the killings of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown.

00:15:04.000 They caused this modern iteration of race riots.

00:15:07.000 You had the race riots. 0.90

00:15:09.000 from the 60s and 70s when the blacks would go crazy over MLK or some other thing. 0.56

00:15:16.000 You had these, the Rodney King riots, but it was really Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown which kicked off this new wave and this BLM movement and all this. 0.57

00:15:25.000 But with Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, the pendulum swung in the opposite direction and it made maybe more people

00:15:33.000 than in a century in this country, racist.

00:15:37.000 Because everybody saw what happened.

00:15:39.000 They saw Mike Brown was this big huge guy, not a gentle giant.

00:15:42.000 He reached for the gun, he got killed.

00:15:45.000 And similarly with Trayvon Martin.

00:15:47.000 They heard the 911 phone call where he was beating up George Zimmerman.

00:15:53.000 And so in both cases there was this initial movement which created a lot of progressivism and created this

00:16:00.000 Big push to reform the police and other aspects of the country.

00:16:06.000 At the same time, I remember in 2016, so many of the people that were calling themselves alt-right or supported Trump, they were made racist or skeptical of a lot of the rhetoric on race by Mike Brown and Trayvon Martin.

00:16:22.000 Similarly, you remember in 2020, everybody was on board with George Floyd.

00:16:28.000 Everybody.

00:16:30.000 Even more conservative people were posting the black square and they were on the side of George Floyd. 0.97

00:16:35.000 It's hard to believe it now, honestly, which is actually a good thing.

00:16:40.000 But maybe you don't remember, with all the other hysteria around the coronavirus and other things, everybody was eating up this George Floyd narrative that the cops should be punished and all this.

00:16:54.000 Now everybody's racist again.

00:16:56.000 Now I go on TikTok and Twitter and every day my timeline is filled with black people messing around and all the comments are, well, well, well, you know, well, well, well. 0.94

00:17:08.000 It's a, it's a car chase in Georgia. 0.99

00:17:10.000 They pull them over and you see two white, you see two pink hands and black arms go up like this, like always.

00:17:19.000 Like they didn't do anything you know they're in a car crash and uh you know Georgia State Police Highway Patrol does a pit maneuver and they're in the bushes and they they put their hands up we ain't doing nothing you know and all the replies these days are well well well well well look who it is uh so it's amazing but back then everybody was buying into this and

00:17:43.000 Part of it was not just about law enforcement.

00:17:45.000 They said, we want money and jobs.

00:17:49.000 So we covered it back then.

00:17:51.000 All these big companies were giving millions, in some cases billions, billion dollar commitment being made towards BLM or towards like equity, whatever that means.

00:18:05.000 And they committed that they would reform their hiring practices.

00:18:08.000 And I think it was maybe more extreme back in 2020 where they were introducing these like mentorship programs.

00:18:16.000 And they were clearing the way where basically only black people were going to get promoted, only black people were going to be taken care of or hired.

00:18:25.000 Well, we've reached, I don't know if it's the final destination, but it's been a few years now, and as I said earlier, this new report says that 94% of everybody that's been hired at almost 100 of the S&P 500 companies have been non-white.

00:18:45.000 Which means just 6%, 6% of new hires at the biggest companies in America have been white.

00:18:54.000 And this is the report.

00:18:56.000 It says in 2021, 94% of new jobs at 88 S&P 100, I'm sorry, 100 companies were filled by people of color, according to an analysis from Bloomberg.

00:19:08.000 Following the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests sparked by the murder of George Floyd, many large corporations made pledges to address racial imbalances among their workforce.

00:19:19.000 Microsoft promised to double its number of black managers and senior leaders in the United States by 2025.

00:19:26.000 Meta pledged to increase its representation of people of color in leadership in the United States by 30% by 2025.

00:19:36.000 Amazon set a goal to double its representation of black directors and vice presidents.

00:19:43.000 A new analysis by Bloomberg of U.S.

00:19:45.000 Equal Opportunity Commission data found that many companies made progress on such promises a year after making them.

00:19:55.000 In 2021, 88 companies in the S&P 100 increased their headcount collectively by 323,094 people and 94% were from underrepresented groups, so-called.

00:20:10.000 That means they're not white.

00:20:12.000 So it's not even a small number either.

00:20:14.000 You might think, oh well maybe they hired a thousand people.

00:20:17.000 They hired 320,000 people in a year

00:20:23.000 And just 6% of them were white.

00:20:25.000 The rest?

00:20:26.000 Black, Hispanic, and Asian. 1.00

00:20:29.000 Totally deliberate, of course. 0.99

00:20:32.000 It says... And you may say, oh, it goes without saying that that's deliberate.

00:20:37.000 Well, what does deliberate mean?

00:20:39.000 When you get a proportion like that, what would that percentage be?

00:20:46.000 For every one white person, they're hiring 19 non-white people? 0.79

00:20:52.000 That's not an accident. 0.83

00:20:54.000 They're not hiring the most qualified. 0.70

00:20:57.000 They didn't happen to hire 19 non-white people for every one white person.

00:21:04.000 That doesn't just occur.

00:21:07.000 So what does that mean?

00:21:08.000 It means that they discriminated against white people.

00:21:11.000 It means that whoever's doing the hiring in these companies, in these offices, 0.70

00:21:17.000 They're making a concerted effort to discriminate against people on the basis of the fact that they are a member of the white race. 0.56

00:21:24.000 That's it. 0.75

00:21:26.000 You know, there's no other way that you can cut that. 0.96

00:21:29.000 Applicants are turned down because they're white. 0.79

00:21:34.000 You go to an interview, you're white, they don't consider you for the position.

00:21:40.000 How else do you achieve only hiring 5% white out of 300,000? 0.86

00:21:45.000 The country is 60% white. 0.99

00:21:50.000 At least, it might be a little bit more. 0.99

00:21:53.000 The country is close to two-thirds white, but it's 5% and 1 out of 20 are hired out of 300,000 in a one-year period.

00:22:04.000 That's evidence of discrimination.

00:22:06.000 That's evidence that they brought people in and if they were white, they weren't considered for the job.

00:22:11.000 And I wonder how many people watching this show are in that position.

00:22:16.000 Statistically speaking, a lot of people watching this show

00:22:21.000 That's what this data means.

00:22:22.000 That's how you interpret it.

00:22:23.000 It says the majority of those positions were in less senior roles.

00:22:46.000 The share of executive, managerial, and professional roles held by people of color grew by two percentage points from 2020, which is more than double the average gains from the previous years for large and mid-sized companies.

00:22:59.000 However, white people still accounted, still, you know, in spite of all this progress, they still account for over half of senior level and executive positions.

00:23:11.000 And

00:23:12.000 Regardless of how serious you took this back in 2020, or what your expectations were, if companies would follow through, I talked about this a lot back then.

00:23:23.000 That's the only way to regard these policies.

00:23:25.000 It really is a zero-sum game.

00:23:27.000 When it comes to any of these institutions, all these practices which liberals like, and I think even people in the middle, maybe they don't find them too problematic,

00:23:38.000 When you talk about affirmative action, at these selective schools, highly selective schools, it's a finite number of positions they have to fill every year.

00:23:48.000 There are only so many spots at Harvard for the undergraduate admitting class.

00:23:53.000 There's only so many spots to fill at Yale, Columbia, wherever. 0.58

00:23:58.000 And if you have a policy that says that you have to actively discriminate against white people, it means that in many of those cases, I think it's thousands, it's maybe fewer than 5,000 people at any one of those schools, that means that there may be hundreds of white kids that are more qualified, but are told, no, you don't get the spot because you're white. 0.68

00:24:23.000 You have to go to a different school.

00:24:26.000 And think about the way that that changes the trajectory of a person's life.

00:24:32.000 Let's say you're the valedictorian.

00:24:34.000 Let's say you're in all these extracurriculars.

00:24:38.000 That's what they call it now.

00:24:40.000 You're a high achiever.

00:24:42.000 You've done everything right.

00:24:43.000 You apply to an Ivy League school, but you don't get in because somewhere in Minnesota, a black criminal died in police custody. 0.64

00:24:51.000 So you don't get into an Ivy League school.

00:24:53.000 Now maybe you get into some other good school, but this changes the course of a person's life.

00:24:59.000 Maybe they go to a research university.

00:25:02.000 Maybe they go to like University of Michigan or something instead of Harvard.

00:25:09.000 Is it safe to say that a graduate of Harvard is more competitive in the job market than a graduate of Vanderbilt or University of Michigan or some other place?

00:25:20.000 Is it fair to say that the lifetime earnings of a Harvard graduate are higher?

00:25:25.000 What are these compound effects over time?

00:25:28.000 Where a white person is going to have less.

00:25:32.000 Their whole life changes because they were discriminated against for being white.

00:25:37.000 That's what we're talking about. 0.85

00:26:10.000 You might as well be saying, we'll only take as many white people as we absolutely need, otherwise you just better not even apply. 0.75

00:26:24.000 With such a low number like that, it almost sounds like they said, what is the absolute minimum number of qualified people that we can hire?

00:26:37.000 And then blacks and Hispanics. 1.00

00:26:47.000 These are goals that they set in 2020 for 2025, for 2030.

00:26:53.000 And the goal is not, let's do it for a year, let's do it for the next few years. 0.99

00:27:05.000 They want fewer white people in the boardrooms, fewer white people in these executive positions, fewer white people altogether.

00:27:34.000 List a company on the S&P 500, they take into account how diverse their board is.

00:27:39.000 And when some of these major funds, like BlackRock, determine which companies they'll buy and which they'll put in their portfolio, they now determine, they call it environmental social governance, they determine how much they're doing for climate, how much they're doing for equality, for women, for gay people, for blacks. 0.72

00:28:02.000 It's not even like Democrat politicians saying this.

00:28:07.000 It's the stock index.

00:28:08.000 It's the major funds.

00:28:10.000 And yes, in some cases it's the government also.

00:28:14.000 They're measuring these statistics as well.

00:28:16.000 I'm sure the Department of Justice is looking at this.

00:28:18.000 They'd love to make an example of some company that's not hiring enough black people.

00:28:24.000 And so, all these major firms, all the institutions in the society are saying that if you are more diverse, meaning less white people work there, it's better for you. 0.50

00:28:36.000 The government gives you a gold star, the rating agency gives you a gold star, BlackRock gives you a gold star. 0.89

00:28:45.000 It costs you money to not be diverse.

00:29:30.000 At Human Resources, at the DEI, ESG office, they're saying it's our job to make sure whites don't get hired, they don't get promoted, they don't get admitted to the university. 0.87
