03:08:50.000The U.S. Central Command claims we struck 1,000 targets in Iran in basically the past two weeks after the MOU collapsed.
03:08:58.000And Iran was retaliating against the United States in the Gulf.
03:09:02.000As we talked about, Iran was focusing its firepower on northern Iraq, Iraqi Kurdistan, where all the U.S. and Israeli assets are.
03:09:12.000On Jordan, where the United States has a lot of radar systems and other ISR systems that detect Iranian rockets, drones, missiles that are launched actually at Israel.
03:09:22.000And they were also attacking Bahrain, where the U.S. Fifth Fleet is stationed, and Kuwait, where there's other U.S. infrastructure and personnel.
03:09:31.000So the U.S. was retaliating against Iran because Iran was harassing shipping in the Strait.
03:09:38.000Iran was retaliating against the U.S. attacks attacking Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, northern Iraq.
03:09:45.000But then on Saturday, if you recall, Trump stopped the attacks.
03:09:49.000Trump called off the U.S. onslaught, which had been going on every day for two weeks, hitting over 1,000 targets.
03:09:56.000Trump unilaterally stopped the attacks.
03:10:00.000And Iran, in kind, responded and said, We will launch no more attacks because ours are retaliatory in nature.
03:10:07.000Iran basically said, As long as we don't get hit, we're not going to hit anybody else.
03:10:12.000And so now, all of a sudden, on Tuesday, in the middle of this informal truce, Iran launches an offensive attack on Jordan.
03:10:22.000Now, the United States is unofficially claiming that maybe this is the work of freelancers in the IRGC.
03:10:29.000And there's been a lot of talk among the U.S. intelligentsia, or U.S., I should say, intelligence community, not intelligentsia.
03:10:36.000There's been a lot of talk in the U.S. intelligence community that there is factionalism in Iran, that there are some members of the civilian or military leadership that want to make a deal with the United States.
03:10:48.000And then there are more radical, hardline elements in the regime that want the fight with the United States.
03:10:54.000They actually want the war to go on longer, they want to draw the United States further into the fight.
03:11:00.000They want this decisive confrontation because they believe they can win.
03:11:05.000And so, U.S. officials are saying, well, maybe it's a fluke, basically.
03:11:09.000They're saying maybe because diplomacy is progressing, there are elements in the IRGC that want to sabotage diplomacy because they want the fight.
03:11:19.000And there's a possibility that this is true, but I also think that's a convenient out for the United States.

03:11:38.000We stopped our attacks on Iran on Saturday because this tempo of fighting was hurting us more than it was hurting them.

03:12:49.000then it tells us that Iranian missiles are either sophisticated enough to evade U.S. air defenses, or they're getting guidance from Russia to hit CIA bases and personnel and ISR targets in allied countries.

03:13:16.000We're running out of the munitions to actually shoot down and intercept the drones and missiles.

03:21:50.000So if Trump pounds Iran and we go back to war with Iran and we hit them really hard, why and how would that?
03:21:59.000Produce a different result than the more severe attacks in the beginning or the less severe attacks a few weeks ago.
03:22:06.000This is Iran putting pressure on Trump to effectively put up or shut up here.
03:22:11.000So that's the big development concerning Jordan.
03:22:14.000Here's the other development concerning diplomacy.
03:22:17.000So, as Iran bombs Jordan in an offensive action, at the same time, Iran is also stonewalling diplomacy.
03:22:25.000So, like we talked about, Trump said on Saturday, we're not going to continue to hit Iran because we're talking with Iran and we want diplomacy to prevail.
03:22:34.000Well, the Iranians immediately denied that.
03:22:36.000They said, we're not talking with the United States.
03:22:38.000We have not made any overture toward Washington in 17 days.
03:22:42.000So basically, since the collapse of the MOU, Iran says we've not talked with the United States.
03:22:48.000However, on the sidelines, Iran has conducted a bilateral negotiation with Oman.
03:22:55.000And Iran stressed that the United States is not a party to this, and neither are the mediators.
03:23:01.000Not Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, they're not involved.
03:23:05.000Iran said this weekend they held talks with Oman.
03:23:11.000If you've been following the show, you already know the answer.
03:23:14.000The MOU collapsed because, under the provision of the MOU governing the Strait, it said that the Strait of Hormuz would be jointly managed by Iran and Oman.
03:23:26.000Strait of Hormuz is bordered by Iran in the north, Oman in the south.
03:23:31.000And so, the provision in the MOU that governs the Strait says that together they will manage the Strait and they'll figure out a way to govern it with the consultation of the other GCC nations, like the Emirates and Saudi Arabia and the rest of them.
03:23:46.000But it was the ambiguity in that provision that caused the MOU to collapse because Iran insisted that what this provision meant is that they're going to control the strait.
03:23:55.000They're going to determine which ships get in and out.
03:23:58.000They're going to determine if there's going to be a fee and what it'll be used for.
03:24:02.000They will collect it and so on and so forth.
03:24:05.000Washington came in and said, that's not the deal.
03:24:08.000Washington came in and said, the provision of the MOU says it will be jointly managed by Iran and Oman.
03:24:15.000So, when Iran insisted that all the commercial shipping get permission from the IRGC to transit the strait, Washington and Oman together opened up a separate lane of passage and they began allowing commercial shipping to go through this strait,
03:24:33.000to go through the southern side of the strait without Iran's permission.
03:24:37.000And Iran rightly pointed out that that undermines their negotiating power.
03:24:42.000If Iran allows Oman to basically have their half of the strait and in Oman's half of the strait, The shipping doesn't need the IRGC's permission and they don't need to pay Iran.
03:24:53.000Well, then the United States and Oman control half the strait and Iran has no leverage over Washington.
03:25:00.000So, this is why Iran began attacking shipping in the strait again, saying, Look, the strait is open, but you have to go through us.
03:25:05.000If you don't go through us, it's still closed.
03:25:09.000So, Iran met with, and this led to the collapse of the MOU.
03:25:13.000Iran attacking the shipping led the United States to intervene against Iran, which led to Iran retaliating against the United States.
03:25:20.000Leading to the tit for tat strikes for the past two and a half weeks.
03:25:25.000So, after the United States suspended its attacks on Iran on Saturday, Iran met with Oman to negotiate over how they're going to manage the strait.
03:25:33.000And the Omanis did actually work with the mediators to come up with a proposal.
03:25:39.000And it was with Egypt, Qatar, Pakistan, and Turkey that they presented to Iran a new proposal that said they would split the strait 50 50.
03:25:53.000Iran said the way that we want it to be is that we're going to have our half of the straight, which is ours, and you can have your half of the straight, but that's also going to be ours too.
03:26:04.000Iran said the inbound traffic to the Strait is going to be controlled totally by us.
03:26:09.000They said in the outbound lane will be jointly managed by us and you.0.83
03:26:14.000So, in other words, they're going to control all of it.
03:26:17.000And this is a story from the Wall Street Journal about this.
03:26:21.000It says, quote, Iran rejected a proposal to evenly divide control of the Strait of Hormuz, Oman, which sits opposite Iran across the Strait, suggested a temporary plan to establish even lanes of control.
03:26:35.000But Tehran demanded Tuesday that it take the lion's share of the waterway.
03:26:39.000Officials in mediating countries said they were incensed by Tehran's rejection of the Oman plan.
03:26:45.000Tehran will only move to the next stage of negotiations if Oman agrees to Iran's Hormuz plan, said Iran's deputy foreign minister.
03:26:54.000Oman had proposed an equal division of transit routes between the two states.
03:26:58.000Tehran countered with a plan under which one direction of traffic would pass through solely Iranian waters, and part of the opposite lane would also be Iranian.
03:27:08.000In talks with Oman, Tehran insisted on retaining full control of the waterway because U.S. military supplies used to attack its territory transited the strait.
03:27:17.000A U.S. official said on Tuesday The strait is an international waterway and Iran cannot control or restrict transit through it.
03:27:25.000They said Iran is overreaching with unreasonable demands.
03:27:30.000Mediators say Iran's rejection of the Omani proposal has undermined their attempts to resuscitate a preliminary peace deal signed by Tehran in Washington last month.
03:27:39.000So, not only has Iran launched an offensive attack on the United States and Jordan in contravention of the informal ceasefire that Trump and Iran indirectly agreed to on Saturday,
03:27:54.000but at the same time, they're also stonewalling diplomacy.
03:27:58.000Oman comes to Iran with a proposal backed by Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan, and Qatar, all the major middle powers in the region, and they say, let's just share the strain.
03:28:54.000I mean, what is the legal basis for this war?
03:28:57.000We don't have a legal authority under right to protect.
03:29:01.000It's not like we're intervening to stop a genocide, it's not like we're intervening to stop an ethnic cleansing.
03:29:06.000Under the United Nations, you can launch a preemptive war because a state has the right to protect minorities or a right to protect the human rights of the people of a country.0.98
03:30:56.000They're saying we need to control the strait because you have used the strait to move assets into position to attack us.0.88

03:31:40.000And Iran is also saying, we insist on controlling the strait because you use the strait, you transit the strait to move the U.S. Navy into a position to attack our country.
03:31:52.000So Iran says, no, we're not going to open up the strait.

03:32:14.000And the United States is coming back at Iran and saying, well, no country can exert control over the waterway.

03:34:27.000Iran does not want to stand on a stage with These murderers in the United States that killed all of their colleagues, that killed all of their brothers, that killed everybody in the IRGC.
03:34:38.000You know, Trump is out there saying, I want to meet with the Supreme Leader.
03:34:42.000And I'm sure Trump would love nothing more than to stand on a stage with the Supreme Leader and shake hands and get the Nobel Prize and have a big peace treaty with Iran and unfreeze the assets with Iran and so on and so forth.

03:35:04.000And Iran knows that what's going to happen is regime change in the United States.

03:38:05.000The United States, Iran thinks, is weak.
03:38:10.000Iran, and they're on the money on this, they sense that the Trump administration has no appetite for this conflict.
03:38:18.000Trump thought it was going to be quick and easy, now it's becoming long and costly.
03:38:23.000They know that Trump is facing these midterm elections coming up.
03:38:26.000They know the public doesn't support the war.
03:38:29.000They know that the Pentagon is already cash strapped, like they literally have a cash problem.
03:38:34.000They know we're running short on these exquisite standoff munitions that we have.
03:38:39.000And so, the Trump administration is basically begging Iran for a way out.0.60

03:41:52.000But you also have rocket attacks from the Houthis in Yemen, not just against Saudi commercial shipping in the Red Sea, but also against their oil infrastructure.0.62

03:43:31.000How much longer can we defend everything in the Middle East?
03:43:35.000Defending Israel, Jordan, Northern Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the Emirates, while escorting shipping through the Strait.
