03:02:23.000The Strategic Petroleum Reserve just hit a 50 year low, it dropped below 300 million barrels for the first time since they started filling it in 1983 under the Reagan administration.
03:02:36.000Now, the latest development in the conflict today, based on all of this, is that now Iran has finally begun to set the terms.
03:02:44.000And Iran's foreign ministry came out today and they said, We are done talking to Washington.
03:02:50.000We're never talking to Washington again.
03:02:52.000Iran said, We are not talking to the U.S. until Trump is out of office in 2029.
03:02:59.000Iran said they very well may reach an agreement with Oman about how the Strait of Hormuz will be governed, but Iran said, We're still not opening it.
03:03:08.000So, in other words, even though Oman is collaborating with the United States in their negotiations with Iran to figure out the terms of how Hormuz will be governed in the future, Iran says that is independent of the conflict.
03:03:23.000Iran says we very well may reach an understanding with Oman about how the strait opens and under what conditions and what the fee will be and where the ships are actually going to transit, whose territorial waters.
03:04:11.000To relieve them of the sanctions on their oil.
03:04:15.000They want us potentially to unfreeze hundreds of billions of dollars in assets, and they want us to move all of our U.S. military assets out of the Persian Gulf and away from Iran in the broader region.
03:04:28.000And Iran says if they don't get all of this, then the strait doesn't open.
03:04:32.000And they're not negotiating, they're not talking to us.
03:04:40.000It says, quote, Iran said on Monday that any deal with Oman on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz would not lead to the waterway being fully reopened.
03:04:49.000And that the route would remain closed until the United States agreed to demands, including lifting a naval blockade.
03:04:55.000Esmail Begay, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said at a news conference on Monday that the focus of the talks with Oman was, quote, on reaching an understanding over a route for the safe passage of shipping.
03:05:08.000His comments echoed remarks by Abbas Aragchi, Iran's foreign minister, who said on Saturday that Iran and Oman were very close to an agreement, but that reopening the strait was contingent on other conditions.
03:05:20.000The U.S. and Iran are not negotiating directly, although Secretary of State Marco Rubio said last week that the talks between Iran and Oman were being conducted with American input.
03:05:30.000Last week, a top Iranian national security official issued a set of demands that are part of Iran's longstanding public negotiating stance, and that he said the United States must meet before Tehran would fully reopen the waterway.
03:05:47.000Those included the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade and sanctions on Iran, the withdrawal of American forces from around the country.
03:05:54.000Payment of war reparations, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and the end of attacks on Iran's allies in the region, which would be Hezbollah and the popular mobilization forces in Iraq and the Houthis in Yemen.
03:06:07.000So Iran is giving us an ultimatum and saying the strait doesn't open until we give them everything they want.
03:06:27.000They're sending out these maximalist demands in the hopes that the United States will beg Iran for mercy and Iran is going to see how much they can get.
03:06:36.000We've effectively given them the straight.
03:06:38.000Now it's a question of how much else are we going to give them?
03:06:42.000So is that a real negotiating tactic or is that their real position?
03:06:49.000And I think that surely Tehran must understand that they cannot push their luck and that they're almost certainly not going to get all of that.
03:06:57.000They're not going to get all their unfrozen money.
03:06:59.000They're not going to get sanctions relief on everything.
03:07:02.000I think at the minimum, the United States might not even be possible for them to maintain U.S. military outposts near Iran because many of them have been destroyed.
03:07:12.000So the United States might consider that a foregone conclusion.
03:07:18.000And we're going to say, well, we were going to move these bases anyway.
03:07:33.000And so I think when all is said and done, maybe that is part of the framework of a U.S. capitulation Iran will control inbound traffic in the strait.
03:07:43.000They'll have some say over outbound shipping.
03:07:48.000I think that some U.S. bases that are near Iran will permanently close.
03:07:54.000And I think it will be done in a way that is face saving for the United States.
03:07:58.000I imagine that Iran will get their sanctions waivers, and this will be branded as.
03:08:03.000An economic boon to the United States.
03:08:06.000If Iran is able to sell their oil, well, then the supply of oil goes up and the price goes down.
03:08:12.000And I'm sure that the United States will continue to try to force Israel into a ceasefire or some kind of settlement with the Lebanese government and withdraw from some of their positions on the ground.
03:08:24.000If there's going to be a deal, I imagine those are going to be the contours of it.
03:08:28.000And those are the kinds of things the United States might be willing to compromise on.
03:08:33.000And I think the things they're less willing to compromise on are the frozen assets and the sanctions.
03:08:46.000We have our blockade of Iran's ports in the Persian Gulf.
03:08:50.000Obviously, any deal that opens the Strait would have to be reciprocal.
03:08:53.000So that's not going to be a long term tool.
03:08:56.000But if we're going to maintain any pressure, if there's going to be any kind of pain mechanism or a stick, a disincentive against Iran, it's going to be the sanctions regime.
03:09:06.000It's going to be the sanctions regime.
03:09:08.000It is going to be in some form taking their frozen assets and effectively stealing them.
03:09:14.000We have their hundreds of billions of dollars frozen at institutions across the world, and the U.S. government will begin seizing them to pay ourselves back for the conflict.
03:09:24.000And that might be a punitive measure we could take against Iran.
03:09:28.000So I think if there's going to be a U.S. capitulation, there's going to be a lot of things we're going to give up on, and some things I think are less likely.
03:09:37.000The question, though, now is that the ball is in the U.S. and Israel's court.
03:09:43.000And let's talk a little bit about the United States.
03:09:45.000Obviously, the United States wants out of the conflict.
03:10:50.000100% out of these attack them weapon systems, mostly out of Tomahawk missiles.
03:10:56.000And then famously, we're also out of the defensive systems too.
03:11:00.000The THAAD system, Patriot missile batteries, we're out of interceptors for these as well.
03:11:05.000And this is because we have been defending so many targets in so many countries for such a long period of time against this onslaught of Iranian drones and missiles.
03:11:14.000We are now having to make decisions about where and when to prioritize defense and where and when we're going to let Iranian projectiles actually hit their targets.
03:11:25.000What's more, we talked about this too, Iran's missiles are getting more sophisticated.
03:11:31.000Their targeting is improved because of help from Russia, and they're more maneuverable in the terminal phase of the missile's launch sequence.
03:11:41.000And so, as the missile is heading for its target, it's actually able to evade in a smart way our defensive systems, which not only makes the missiles more deadly, but also makes it less economical for us to intercept.
03:11:55.000If we're launching interceptors and not handing drones and missiles, it means we're expending more ammunition per drone, per missile launched at us.
03:12:18.000This is after we've coordinated the release of 400 million barrels worldwide.
03:12:23.000We pumped a bunch of oil into the economy.
03:12:26.000And then there's the military part of the equation, which is we just don't have the ammunition.
03:12:31.000And again, what's more, let's say even if we had the offensive and defensive capabilities, even still, It wouldn't be enough because we simply cannot suppress Iran's ability to control traffic in the strait.
03:12:46.000And what you must understand is that this is a very particular problem.
03:12:50.000The strait is so narrow, it's about eight, nine miles long where the ships actually go through.
03:13:00.000And so it does not require a ton of precision from Iran's huge coastline or its many islands.
03:13:08.000To hit a ship, you can launch a drone, you could hit it with artillery, you could hit it with an anti ship missile from the islands, from the coast, from the interior of the country, and you're 100% going to hit a ship.
03:13:23.000And all you need to do is be able to hit a ship every now and then, which causes the insurance on those ships to skyrocket, which means the ships are going to be trapped in the strait.
03:13:35.000And so the task before us is either we have to destroy the Iranian regime, which we failed to do.
03:13:42.000Or we prevent Iran from launching a drone or a missile or any kind of projectile from anywhere in their country, which is a third the size of the United States.
03:13:53.000So, good luck finding every small platform where they're launching these very tiny drones, every platform where they're launching a missile, which is in a car, behind a bush, or a shoulder mounted weapon.
03:16:35.000On their terms, and now they're going to dictate to us the terms of surrender.
03:16:42.000Since they have us trapped by closing the strait, and since they're pushing us out of the conflict, now we are actually having to pay a toll to open up the strait.
03:16:52.000They're telling us, You want us to open the bear trap?
03:16:55.000You want to be freed because you're stuck?
03:17:17.000And the United States, I think, in a vacuum, might be willing to give.
03:17:22.000Like I said, I think that if we were in a vacuum, if Iran and the United States and the Gulf, if these were the only players involved, I think the war would end and the contours of the deal would look like what I said.
03:17:36.000The Gulf countries don't want to fight, and this is a problem because the Gulf is.
03:17:41.000What we're using as a platform to attack Iran.
03:17:44.000Saudi Arabia wants out because they are getting obliterated by rockets from Iran's proxies.
03:18:04.000Qatar cut a deal with Iran at the very beginning in order for Iran not to target Qatar's desalination and liquefied natural gas facilities.
03:18:15.000Qatar cut a deal with Iran and said that if Qatar stopped producing LNG, if they slowed the rate of production of liquefied natural gas, which would hurt the U.S. economy, of course, limiting production raises prices, then Iran would not attack their infrastructure.
03:18:34.000In other words, Qatar said we'll help Iran pressure the United States by voluntarily hurting the energy market so that Iran doesn't have to bomb the infrastructure and irreparably damage the energy infrastructure.
03:18:50.000To reduce the global supply of energy.
03:19:43.000And if you're paying attention, if you watch the show for years, you already know what I'm going to say.
03:19:49.000After October 7th, Iran, or rather, Israel vowed.
03:19:54.000That ultimately they were going to begin a quest that would lead to the eventual decisive confrontation with Iran and decapitation of their regime.
03:20:06.000They're going after all of Iran's tentacles, which is Hamas in Gaza, Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the West Bank, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Assad regime in Syria, the Houthis in Yemen, the PMF in Iraq.
03:20:20.000And then ultimately they're going to have to confront Iran decisively.
03:20:26.000And so after October 7th, they used that as the justification to eradicate Hamas and to raid the West Bank.
03:20:34.000And because Hezbollah was bombing Israel to divert Israel's resources away from their invasion of Gaza, Israel used that as the pretext to launch a full scale attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon.
03:20:49.000It was the pager attack on their command, control, and communications, followed by thousands of airstrikes, then the ground incursion.
03:20:57.000Shortly after that, the Assad regime mysteriously vanished overnight in December of 2024, and Assad became a refugee to Russia.
03:21:06.000Now, the new Al Qaeda regime in Syria wants to make peace with Israel and is allowing Israel to basically invade southern Syria.
03:21:14.000Israel launched major airstrikes on the Houthis in Yemen.
03:21:18.000And now, now that the path has been cleared, now that these proximate threats to Israel's security on their border had been neutralized, now Israel has been freed up.
03:21:34.000Don't have to worry about the Houthis.
03:21:36.000Now that all of these proxies have been defeated in detail, systematically, confronted piecemeal, one by one by one, and temporarily put down or paralyzed, now Israel is freed up.
03:21:52.000And with their ally in the White House, Trump, now they're able to confront Iran.
03:22:01.000That if they can achieve regime change in Iran, then they have regional domination.
03:22:08.000And with regional domination, then they can meaningfully eradicate the proxies on their border because they no longer have patronage from Iran.
03:22:17.000With Iran out of the picture, the lifeline, that umbilical cord that replenishes and resupplies the proxies, will be permanently cut.
03:22:28.000And then Israel can meaningfully eradicate Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis.
03:23:07.000Well, because we did not stumble into a conflict with Iran.
03:23:11.000We were dragged into one by Israel as part of this larger agenda.
03:23:16.000And it's important to understand this because you realize that Israel, not Iran, not the United States, but Israel has actually orchestrated, they have controlled the tempo, the pace, all the terms of engagement have been set by Israel.
03:23:33.000Why did the United States bomb Iran last year?
03:23:40.000When our negotiations were deemed to be too slow or lacking progress by Israel, Israel took the initiative and launched a surprise attack on Iran, dragging us into the fight 12 days later.
03:23:56.000Months before February 27th, Netanyahu visited Mar a Lago and implored Trump to go back to war with Iran to degrade their missiles and further degrade their nuclear infrastructure.
03:24:08.000And then in February, Netanyahu told Trump, We're going in.
03:24:13.000Whether you come with us or not, just as we did a year ago, Israel said we are going to take advantage of the crisis in Iran, the run on the bank, the uprisings that are going on, the soft Kurdish invasion from the West, and Israel is going to launch another offensive, dragging the United States in.
03:24:35.000It is to understand that how and when the war ends, it's not up to Iran.
03:24:43.000And it's not up to the United States and it's not up to Saudi Arabia or the other Gulf countries.
03:24:48.000It is up to Israel because Israel is in the driver's seat of all of this.
03:24:53.000Israel drives the United States, Israel catalyzes events in the Middle East.
03:24:59.000They force countries to act in ways maybe they ordinarily wouldn't because Israel knows how to provoke and they have the art of deception.
03:25:09.000In 2024, Israel killed seven IRGC commanders in Syria, which Provoked Iran into attacking them.
03:25:17.000Israel assassinated the leader of Hamas in Tehran in July of 2024, provoking Iran to retaliate.
03:25:25.000A week before the Memorandum of Understanding was passed in June, Israel attacked Beirut, where Hezbollah is headquartered, after Iran explicitly warned them that if they did that, Iran would retaliate and break the fragile ceasefire.
03:25:41.000So every step of the way for years under the Biden administration, under the Trump administration, You see Israel's fingerprints over every escalatory act.
03:25:52.000Every time there was a fork for us to escalate or de escalate, there is Israel putting their finger on the scale and tipping us in favor of escalation.
03:27:31.000Our economy is experiencing stagflation because of the high gas prices, inflation ticking back up.
03:27:38.000Kevin Walsh won't cut rates any further.
03:27:42.000So we are all finding ourselves to exhaustion.
03:27:45.000It appears that a deal is emerging because of this, which reflects the reality of the situation.
03:27:52.000And so, the question mark is not what America will accept and what Iran will accept, it's what Israel will accept.
03:28:00.000And what Israel has been telegraphing for weeks is that they're going to escalate with or without us.
03:28:05.000That is what they have been telegraphing.
03:28:07.000And so, simultaneously in the news, you see Israel.
03:28:10.000Or rather, Iran is saying they're preparing for a preemptive attack by Israel without the United States.
03:28:19.000In Iranian media today, they're saying they're preparing for Israel to launch a major offensive with or without the U.S. Israel says the same thing.
03:28:29.000When the U.S. began its two week punitive campaign against Iran for violating the MOU, Israel would not get involved because their minister said, well, we don't want to have anything to do with this contained fighting.
03:29:02.000Well, the limits are very clear from the White House since the beginning.
03:29:06.000When Israel attacked the southern Pars gas fields in Iran and Iran retaliated by attacking energy in the Gulf, The US apologized to Iran and said that will never happen again and admonished Israel.
03:29:22.000And when Iran was trying to kill, or rather, when Israel was trying to kill Iran's negotiators, the foreign minister and the speaker of the parliament, Arachi and Halibaf, Trump privately warned Iran through the Arab mediators that Israel was preparing to do this.
03:29:40.000No limit, no strategic limits means Israel wants to attack Iran's energy to destabilize the regime and they want to.
03:29:48.000Continue to assassinate the personnel to destabilize the regime.
03:29:52.000And the United States does not want to totally destabilize Iran.
03:29:56.000The United States does not want Iran and the Gulf to destroy all of each other's energy infrastructure and irreversibly destroy the energy supply in the Middle East.
03:30:11.000The other timeline is that Netanyahu is facing re election on October 27th, and he's very vulnerable and very unpopular.
03:30:20.000That's something like three months away, a little bit less than three months away.
03:30:25.000And it's going to be a referendum on what Netanyahu can do vis a vis Lebanon and Iran.
03:30:32.000Netanyahu, in order to keep power, is going to need to demonstrate that everything that he has done has been worth the price.
03:30:41.000Israel has isolated itself from the world, they have ruined relations with Europe, they have alienated the American public, they have created enmity, not just between Israel and the Democrats.
03:30:53.000But also between Israel and the Republicans, which is truly remarkable.
03:30:57.000Israel has galvanized all of their previous allies in the region to become enemies and actually normalize relations with Iran, countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt and others.
03:31:10.000And so, for Netanyahu to survive, he's going to need to demonstrate that this immense cost to Israel's reputation and diplomatic standing was worth it.
03:31:21.000One of two things Netanyahu is either going to need A real victory against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
03:31:28.000And he can say, I have made our northern border secure by creating a security buffer zone in southern Lebanon.
03:31:36.000I've meaningfully eliminated or defeated Hezbollah.
03:31:39.000And as such, all of those civilian populations that live on the northern border can resettle there because they were displaced from the fighting.
03:31:50.000Another victory condition is that Netanyahu can decapitate the Iranian regime or demonstrate that he's winning against the Iranian regime, which means the war, at the minimum, has to still be going on.
03:32:02.000At the minimum, he needs the war and he needs us in the war and he needs to be winning.
03:32:08.000Ideally, he'd like to topple the Iranian regime.
03:32:11.000So, those are the goals that Netanyahu has to stay in power before October 27th.
03:32:18.000And if you're a student of all this and you're paying attention, you're going to realize there's a really big problem with these two goals.
03:32:26.000Which is, one, the U.S. cannot, does not want to continue the war with Iran.
03:32:34.000So, it's going to be very hard for Israel to keep the war up with Iran without the United States involved.
03:32:48.000So you say, well, Netanyahu will keep fighting in Lebanon.
03:32:51.000Well, Iran has inconveniently conditioned a peace with the United States on a peace in Lebanon.
03:32:59.000For Iran to open the strait and to have a meaningful peace with Washington, Iran insists the condition for this, the precondition, is that the U.S. must stop Israel and Lebanon.
03:33:14.000So, in other words, for the U.S. to achieve their goals, get out of the war, Iran is going to need us to stop fighting them and to get Israel to stop fighting Lebanon.
03:33:25.000So, for us to win, we have to thwart and frustrate Netanyahu's two goals, his two andor imperatives to win the election.
03:33:34.000For us to win, we need to shut the war in Iran down and shut the war in Lebanon down.
03:33:39.000For Netanyahu to win, he needs us to be fighting in Iran and he needs to keep the fighting going in Lebanon andor.
03:33:47.000So, it puts us on a collision course with Israel.
03:34:00.000I don't go off of what Barack Ravid reports in Axios or what's reported in Reuters, where every week they say, it's looking like there's progress on a deal.
03:34:11.000Talks were described as constructive by those briefed on the discussions.
03:35:22.000I'll give you these examples, like I just said before.
03:35:26.000April 24, when Israel needed a confrontation with Iran, they killed a bunch of Iranians in Syria and made Iran bomb them.
03:35:34.000In July 24, Mossad infiltrated Tehran and assassinated Hamas's political leader on the inauguration day of Iran's new president, Pazeshkian, provoking Iran to retaliate.
03:35:47.000When the U.S. announced negotiations, Netanyahu went on TV and said, The only deal we'll accept is if we blow up Iran.
03:35:56.000When the deadline for the negotiations expired, Netanyahu launched a war against Iran without telling us.
03:36:40.000And we're going to be reluctant to do it.
03:36:43.000Even if we're somehow able to achieve a deal, which will be extremely difficult because Iran won't even talk to us and they're not going to give any concessions.
03:36:51.000And it's going to be very humiliating for us.
03:36:53.000Even if we get it across the finish line, Israel is going to.
03:37:12.000And at this NATO summit, they discussed a variety of things.
03:37:16.000All the heads of state were in attendance, and they discussed the conflict in Ukraine, and they discussed Greenland, and they discussed the war in Iran, too.
03:37:24.000But that was really more on a back burner.
03:37:29.000Promising that he would give F 35 fighter jets to Turkey.
03:37:34.000Turkey was originally part of the F 35 program 26, 27 years ago, but they were removed from the program when they bought advanced anti aircraft systems from Russia.
03:37:45.000They imported an S 400 anti aircraft system about 10 years ago.
03:37:49.000So they were kicked out of the program, and we don't deliver F 35s to their country.
03:37:56.000When Israel was misbehaving, when Israel would not implement the MOU and allow us, To achieve peace with Iran, Trump was threatening to give Turkey F 35s because Trump knew this would upset the military balance between Turkey and Israel, who have increasingly become rivals.
03:38:16.000Turkey and Israel have talked about fighting a war, they're engaging in competition in Cyprus and in Syria, and Turkey's been outspoken condemning Israel's actions in Gaza.
03:38:28.000And so, would Trump give Erdogan F 35s?
03:38:33.000This would change the military balance.
03:38:35.000It would increase Turkey's qualitative military advantage over Israel, something that Israel is very sensitive to.
03:38:46.000Trump is in Turkey, which is now an enemy and a rival of Israel.
03:38:50.000Trump is in Turkey to flirt with the idea of giving Turkey an advanced U.S. weapons system that might give Turkey parity from an Air Force perspective with Israel.
03:39:03.000Again, a very sensitive issue for Israel.
03:39:06.000Now, the big story from today is that when Trump was in Turkey to deliver this message, to give Turkey the F 35s, there was apparently a very big concern about Trump being assassinated when he was leaving Turkey.
03:39:20.000And so initially, it was reported some weeks ago that Trump flew into Turkey on the old Air Force One jet, and he was going to leave Turkey on an Air Force jet that was given to him by Cutter.
03:39:33.000Famously, Cutter gave the United States of America one of these Boeing aircraft that would serve as a future Air Force One transport aircraft for the president.
03:39:45.000So Trump was going to fly away in this new plane.
03:39:49.000At the last minute, though, they changed the logistics.
03:39:52.000And Trump, instead of taking the Qatari jet, used the old Air Force jet.
03:39:58.000They said, well, the reason is because the new jet isn't outfitted with the right defensive or other security technology that is required for an Air Force One jet.
03:40:12.000That was the excuse they gave at the last minute.
03:40:29.000Well, it came out around the time of the summit that the reason they made the switch is because they were worried that Iran might blow up Air Force One.
03:40:40.000So they thought that maybe the jet that Qatar gave us was rigged, or maybe Iran would be able to shoot it out of the sky.
03:40:48.000Maybe it wasn't prepared for an attack from some Iranian cell in Turkey or something like this.
03:40:53.000So they said, well, the real reason is we're worried Iran is going to kill the president.
03:41:00.000Well, there's a new development today, which is that it was even more extreme than this.
03:41:03.000Not only did Trump at the last minute switch from the Qatari jet to the old jet, they didn't even put him on the old jet.
03:41:10.000He got on the old jet in front of the cameras, and then they snuck him out the back of the aircraft in a catering cart and put him on a military aircraft where he was covertly transported to the United Kingdom with the former Air Force One jet serving as a decoy with the entire press.
03:41:30.000Pool and the mobile White House, they were all on Air Force One, where Trump was also believed to be, including even the press pool.
03:41:38.000They thought they were traveling with the president.
03:41:40.000In reality, they snuck him out of the back of the plane on a catering cart and onto a smaller military cargo aircraft.
03:41:53.000It says, An Iranian assassination threat against President Trump prompted an extraordinary operation last month in which he flew secretly from Turkey on an alternate military aircraft.
03:42:03.000Well, the White House said he was aboard Air Force One.
03:42:06.000The clandestine mission, which has not been reported previously, was carried out unbeknownst to journalists and some White House staff members who believe they were on the same plane as the president.
03:42:16.000The administration claimed that Trump departed Turkey on July 8th on the former Air Force One.
03:42:23.000Trump said on social media that he would use the former Air Force One rather than the plane that flew him there, a newer Boeing 7478 gifted to the U.S. by Qatar.
03:42:34.000In Ankara, Trump boarded the old Air Force One jumbo jet in view of television cameras.
03:42:39.000He was then secretly shuttled minutes later to a smaller plane, an Air Force C 32A, via an airport catering truck.
03:42:48.000That made Air Force One a decoy with media and some White House staff aboard.
03:42:53.000Trump had been in Ankara for a NATO summit with world leaders.
03:42:56.000The operation occurred a night after U.S. forces renewed military strikes on Iran at Trump's direction following a breakdown of negotiations between Washington and Tehran to end their months long war.
03:43:10.000So, if you're following this, they really believed Iran was going to blow the plane out of the sky.
03:43:17.000That's why they went to these extraordinary lengths.
03:43:22.000They said they switched to the old jet at the last minute because of a security issue.
03:43:28.000In reality, they even didn't trust that plane.
03:43:31.000They thought Air Force One would get shot down.
