02:37:52.000The Strait of Hormuz will open seven days after this, and there will be a ceasefire on all fronts in the conflict.
02:37:58.000And that means not just in the Persian Gulf, but also, I would assume, in the Red Sea and in Lebanon, in the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.
02:38:30.000I think the Iranians anticipate that if and when the midterm elections are held and Trump and his party are destroyed, then the gloves are off and Trump can bomb Iran with impunity.
02:38:42.000And he doesn't even really need to worry that much from a political standpoint about the price of fuel or the price of gas or anything like that.
02:38:50.000Because he will be free from any of those imminent political constraints, at least for another two years.

02:39:34.000And then simultaneously, the Houthis in Yemen have announced a total shutdown of the Bab el Mandeb.
02:39:40.000They say that now they're not only going to target Saudi linked shipping, but also any American linked shipping as well.
02:39:49.000And that's not just oil, but that's any commercial shipping.
02:39:53.000By the United States, linked to the United States, that goes through the Suez and into the Red Sea and near the Babel Mondeb.
02:40:01.000So it seems that they're pursuing a dual track.
02:41:07.000The second poll, which came out a couple days ago, shows that Trump overall is at a 32% approval rating, 28% approval of his handling of the economy.
02:41:17.000And then there was another new poll today, which says that Trump is basically getting killed with Gen Z. Among the 18 to 25s, his approval rating is below 20%.
02:41:29.000And Democrats have something like a 50, 60 point advantage over him with the young people.
02:41:40.000If these numbers are true, and we're going to find out very soon if they are, because if Republicans are underwater, let's say 11 points on the generic ballot going into the midterms, it is going to be a blue wave like we haven't seen in literally 20 years.

02:56:38.000We've increased the pressure on Iran by imposing a blockade of our own in the Strait of Hormuz.
02:56:44.000So, we're attacking any Iranian link shipping that's going into and out of the Persian Gulf.
02:56:49.000We're putting pressure on Iran's trading partners.
02:56:52.000We've increased the sanctions on Iran's other industries, including aviation, crypto, banking, trying to limit their access to foreign currency reserves.
02:57:02.000And this is in a bid to collapse Iran's economy without destroying their energy sector.
02:57:08.000We were under the impression, maybe let's say for the first six months of the war, that in order to collapse Iran's economy, we had to annihilate or seize control over Iran's energy sector.
02:57:20.000Now we're exploring new ways, including secondary sanctions and other forms of pressure, to force Iran to capitulate without touching their energy sector directly.
02:57:30.000And so one example of this recently is that one of Iran's largest airlines.
02:57:36.000Has been forced to stop operating in Oman and other countries in the Gulf, which has now effectively closed off the entire nation of Iran to air travel.
02:57:47.000Whereas before, Iran's commercial airliners could fly its citizens to Oman and a handful of other select countries to then go on to other destinations.
02:57:56.000Now, Iran is totally isolated from air travel.
02:58:22.000The U.S. Navy is escorting a lot of tankers through the Strait and shooting down projectiles that are launched at those vessels.
02:58:30.000We also have the ships turning off their transponders so that they're undetectable by Iran and also by some of the tanker monitoring companies using satellite imagery.
02:58:41.000And another thing that we're doing is we're facilitating the exchange of cargo between larger ships onto smaller ships before they enter the strait so that they can pass the strait more quickly and evade molestation by Iran's drones and missiles.
02:59:00.000We're increasing the pressure on Iran, we're alleviating the pressure on ourselves.
02:59:05.000Iran has retaliated against us by increasing the pressure on our economy.
02:59:11.000We are working to bypass their blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.
02:59:15.000So, Iran is now using its proxies in Iraq and in Yemen, the Islamic resistance in Iraq and the Houthis in Yemen, to put pressure on Saudi Arabia in their home territory and also in the Red Sea and the Bab el Mandeb.
02:59:30.000So, the Shiite militias in Iraq and the Houthis in Yemen are launching drones and missiles at Saudi Arabia's infrastructure, bombing military facilities, airports, their capital city, Riyadh.
02:59:42.000As well as bombing the east west pipeline that moves oil from the Gulf to the Red Sea.
02:59:47.000And they're also bombing a lot of the other oil infrastructure in the port cities, like Jizyan on the west coast.
02:59:55.000The Houthis have also imposed a blockade of their own in the Bab el Mandeb, attacking all Saudi linked shipping in the Red Sea and the ships that try to exit through the Red Sea south through the Bab el Mandeb.
03:00:08.000And this is meant to crack down on the U.S. energy allies so that they're not able to bypass the Strait of Hormuz blockade.
03:00:18.000And so this is the tit for tat that's been going on for the past five to six weeks.
03:00:21.000It's all economic attrition and it's all about energy.
03:00:25.000We're putting the squeeze on Iran's economy as much as we can, trying to get shipping out of the strait.
03:00:31.000And Iran is retaliating by shutting down Saudi Arabia's oil, where they produce it, and the other places where they export it and move it in the Red Sea and on Saudi's West Coast.
03:00:44.000Well, the midterm elections are approaching, and Trump has signaled that if the war is not over by the midterms, he's going to have a lot more flexibility after the election, and the gloves are going to come off.
03:00:58.000That once there is no political pressure or constraint on him to keep oil prices stable and to prevent the economy from melting down, and so far it seems the economy has been resilient, then after the midterms, we're really going to annihilate Iran and we're going to return to war.

03:01:20.000They're having to ration a lot of vital goods and services, they are reeling from it, and the damage is real.
03:01:25.000It's in the hundreds of billions of dollars for Iran.

03:01:34.000The UN General Assembly is being held in New York City, and Iran has sent a delegation, including its president, Mahmoud Pazeshkian, as well as its foreign minister, Abbas Arakshi.
03:01:46.000And they have presented to the United States a new peace plan.
03:01:50.000And the peace plan looks like kind of a desperate bid to end the war before the midterms, because what they've proposed is exactly the same as the Memorandum of Understanding.
03:02:02.000You might remember the Memorandum of Understanding was the original formal peace agreement back in June.
03:02:08.000And what the MOU said is that if the United States ends the war on all fronts, and if the United States ends its blockade over the Strait of Hormuz, then Iran will open up the Strait to shipping from the Gulf and American linked shipping.
03:02:25.000And then in a 60 day period, they would negotiate on Iran's nuclear program and its frozen assets.
03:02:34.000End the war, open the strait, and there would be a 60 day timeline to then get to the real cause of the war, the root cause, which is that Iran has a nuclear program and that the United States has imposed this enormous sanctions regime that strangles Iran's economy.
03:02:51.000So now, Iran's foreign minister has presented to the United States, they've transmitted this at the United Nations, a new plan.
03:02:57.000And the new plan basically says this it says the United States ends the war on all fronts.
03:03:03.000And that means in the Persian Gulf, and we impose a peace on Israel in Lebanon.
03:03:09.000We also end our blockade over the Strait of Hormuz.
03:03:13.000We waive sanctions on Iran's oil and let them start selling oil again.
03:03:18.000In addition to this, it says we unfreeze $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets.
03:03:48.000That means that shipping can move freely through the strait without coordinating with Iran and without being expected to pay Iran a fee?

03:05:28.000It says Iran's foreign minister said Thursday that Tehran had proposed to Washington a seven day plan to cease hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and then begin comprehensive talks on the country's nuclear program.
03:05:43.000Abbas Arachi, the foreign minister, told reporters at a press briefing at the UN General Assembly that the proposal closely mirrored the commitments.
03:05:51.000Laid out in a so called memorandum of understanding struck between the United States and Iran in June, but quickly unraveled.
03:05:58.000He said Iran was ready to begin putting the plan into effect as soon as Washington agreed to it.
03:06:04.000He said, We have introduced a plan to the United States through intermediators that if certain conditions are met, the Strait of Hormuz would be open on the end of the seventh day and talks would restart.
03:06:15.000He said it would be better if a deal was reached before the midterm elections in the United States.
03:06:21.000Under the conditions set by Iran for the agreement, During the seven days, all hostilities would end, including in Lebanon.
03:06:28.000The U.S. would release Iran's frozen assets, estimated at at least $12 billion, although realistically it could be as high as $200 billion, waive sanctions on Iranian oil, and lift the naval blockade on Iran.
03:06:41.000Then on the last day, the Strait of Hormuz would be opened.
03:06:45.000In the afternoon, Bahrain led 80 nations in condemning Iran's attacks in the Strait and the Houthis for their actions in Yemen and attacks in Saudi Arabia and the Red Sea, and they called for the immediate reopening of the Strait without tolls.
03:06:59.000After the seven days, Mr. Aragshi said comprehensive negotiations over Iran's nuclear program would immediately begin.
03:07:06.000Mr. Trump has said that his top goal is for Iran not to have a nuclear weapon and that he would either achieve that through a diplomatic deal or with more attacks.
03:07:15.000So here's the problem with all of this.
03:07:19.000As always, the devil is in the details.
03:07:21.000We have never reached an agreement with Iran in principle about any of these things.
03:07:27.000And let's start with let's work through the deal.
03:07:30.000So, the deal says that for this period of seven days, what our commitment is in the United States is we have to unfreeze all their money, we have to waive sanctions on their oil, we have to stop our blockade over the Strait, and we have to impose a ceasefire on Israel and Lebanon.
03:07:48.000Now, in the first place, we have never agreed with this premise.
03:07:54.000There's two mindsets about how any deal with the US and Iran will be structured.
03:07:59.000We have always insisted that we will give concessions based on compliance in a piecemeal and incremental and gradual way.
03:08:09.000In other words, if Iran upholds its commitments, then as a reward in increments, they get concessions.
03:08:17.000The sanctions are gradually lifted, for example.
03:08:22.000The frozen assets are gradually unfrozen.
03:08:25.000If there is some kind of investment from a consortium of sovereign wealth funds, which was floated during the MOU period, It happens conditioned upon their compliance.
03:08:36.000And the reason we need to do this is to ensure that they're going to hold up their end of the bargain.
03:08:41.000That if we give everything up front, they're not going to weasel out and try to cheat or skirt whatever restrictions we impose on them.
03:08:52.000And Iran insists that we give everything up front.
03:08:55.000We relieve all the sanctions first, and then they limit their nuclear activities later.
03:09:00.000We unfreeze all their assets first, then they open the Strait of Hormuz later.
03:09:04.000And so, in the first place, Iran is insisting on a deal that's very favorable to them because if you listen to it, we have to do everything first.
03:09:12.000And then, when we've done everything, they do something for us.
03:09:18.000So, we're going to unfreeze at the minimum $12 billion.
03:09:25.000We're going to unfreeze all their money.
03:09:27.000So, you get this huge injection of cash.
03:09:29.000And then, we're going to let you open up your ports in the Persian Gulf again, and your economy is going to be allowed to breathe.
03:09:38.000And we're going to waive sanctions on your oil so you can start selling oil at very high prices again.
03:09:44.000And then, not only this, we're going to impose a ceasefire on Israel.
03:09:48.000Because understand, there's already theoretically a ceasefire.
03:09:51.000The United States is not bombing Iran.
03:09:54.000So, when Iran says there'll be a ceasefire on all fronts, this is sort of a meaningless term now because the only place where there is really active hostilities is in Lebanon.
03:10:08.000The United States is not bombing Iran.
03:10:10.000Iran is not really bombing the Gulf, with some minor exceptions.
03:10:14.000The two theaters where there is fighting are the Houthis and the Shiite militias in Iraq are bombing Saudi Arabia and the Red Sea, and Israel is fighting Hezbollah.
03:10:25.000So, what Iran is saying is give us our money, stop blockading our ports, let us sell our oil, and then you need to go to Israel and make them stop fighting Hezbollah.
03:10:36.000And once again, so let's talk specifically about that.
03:10:39.000That has always been a major wrinkle from the very beginning.
03:10:43.000You had an informal ceasefire on April 8th.
03:10:46.000And the conditions of that ceasefire were that we had to impose a ceasefire on Israel in Lebanon.
03:11:30.000And so Iran was able to say, if you can't get them to stop, then we're not going to open up the strait because we don't have a deal.
03:11:38.000So Iran is submitting the exact same deal, and yet nothing has changed.
03:11:42.000Israel has actually intensified their fighting in Lebanon.
03:11:46.000We're giving them 60,000 2,000 pound bombs.
03:11:50.000I think it's actually 40,000 2,000 pound bombs, and then another 20,000 bunker buster bombs with a lower yield ordinance.
03:11:59.000So, we're giving Israel 60,000 serious bombs, probably to use in Lebanon, and Iran is telling us, no, no, you got to tell them to stop before we have a deal.
03:12:24.000After we have unfrozen their money, let them sell their oil, let them move goods through their ports in the Persian Gulf, after we force Israel to stop, Then they're going to open up the strait.
03:13:16.000And what I would imagine is that Iran is going to insist that shipping can only move through the strait with their permission, that all shipping is going to need to ask the IRGC.
03:13:27.000And even if they're not charging a toll right now, it sets a precedent that they will have the right to later.
03:13:33.000Because that is always what Iran has insisted on from the beginning.
03:13:37.000The Supreme Leader, from the beginning, and now the new Supreme Leader, Mochtaba, they've both said, under no conditions can we relinquish control over the Strait.
03:13:46.000And actually, they've said it's a national security imperative.
03:13:50.000If you recall, they talked about a deal about a month and a half ago.
03:13:54.000And the way they talked about the deal, it was with Oman.
03:13:58.000And Oman controls the southern end of the Strait.
03:14:01.000In that deal, which they proposed, they said, That Iran would control the northern part of the strait, which is inbound traffic going into the Persian Gulf.
03:14:10.000And they said that Oman would technically control the southbound lane, which is going outbound out of the Persian Gulf.
03:14:17.000However, Iran said they will supervise the outbound traffic as well.
03:14:22.000So they control and own the inbound lane in the north, and they also coordinate all the traffic that goes outbound through the south.
03:14:31.000Moreover, they said the reason they must control the inbound traffic. Is because the US Navy has used the Persian Gulf as a platform to attack Iran.
03:14:42.000The US Navy has its headquarters for its fifth fleet in Bahrain.
03:14:47.000And so to access this port, they have to go through the Strait, enter the Persian Gulf, and it is from this platform they're bombing Iran.
03:14:56.000So Iran says, if you're going to use the Persian Gulf to bomb us, we're not going to let your warships into the Gulf and we will block them in the Strait.
03:15:05.000They say this is a national security imperative.
03:15:08.000And that's why we have to control everything coming in.
03:15:12.000They said this about a month ago, maybe a month and a half ago.
03:15:16.000So, if from the supreme leader himself they are saying it is a national security imperative that they must control the strait, I don't imagine anything has changed.
03:15:25.000So, in other words, they still expect us to impose a ceasefire on Lebanon, which is not going to happen.
03:15:32.000They still expect us to give them everything up front, which we don't really like.
03:15:37.000Trump has demonstrated he's willing to do it, but we don't really like that.
03:15:41.000And then, on top of that, when they open the strait, I would assume once again it's on their terms.
03:15:57.000So they say, after the seven days, if you've held up your end of the bargain, we will open up the strait, and then we will begin these expedited nuclear negotiations.
03:16:08.000And they say, in accordance with the nonproliferation treaty, we will forfeit our highly enriched uranium, which is uranium enriched past 60%.
03:16:18.000And they say, we will allow IAEA inspectors into the country.
03:16:23.000But this actually doesn't address, once again, the fundamental problem.
03:16:27.000The problem is not just that Iran has highly enriched uranium, of which they have 900 pounds, which can be used to create an arsenal of maybe 10 nuclear bombs, 10 to 20 nuclear warheads.
03:16:42.000That's a problem, but it's not the only problem.
03:16:44.000The other problem is that Iran has nuclear enrichment capability.
03:16:48.000They've got centrifuges, they've got very advanced centrifuges, six generation centrifuges that allow them to very quickly.
03:17:02.000When the United States says Iran can never have a nuclear bomb, we're not really saying that.
03:17:09.000Iran has never said they want a nuclear bomb.
03:17:11.000Iran formally is not headed towards a nuclear bomb.
03:17:16.000What we mean when we say Iran can never possess a nuclear bomb is that they cannot have the capability to make one.
03:17:24.000Because if they have the capability, then we have to assume that they are eventually going to do so.
03:17:29.000And if they have other forms of deterrence, like drones and missiles and proxies in the region, that eventually, if they so chose to race towards a bomb, it would be very difficult to stop them.
03:17:42.000The facilities where they enrich uranium are so far underground, we don't have bombs that can hit them.
03:17:48.000It was bad enough trying to bomb Fordo and the Tons.
03:17:52.000They've got facilities even deeper under the earth than those.
03:17:56.000And we don't even know if we destroyed those facilities, we might have just damaged them.
03:18:00.000Or made them inaccessible by bombing the tunnels that get to them.
03:18:07.000And then let's presume that Iran is racing towards a bomb in these facilities, even if we had bombs that could hit them.
03:18:14.000We're talking about in three, five, maybe 10 years, Iran has made itself a drone and missile superpower.
03:18:22.000They've also rebuilt their proxies like Hezbollah and the militias in Iraq and the Houthis in Yemen.
03:18:28.000And if we even went in to disarm them, if we even intervened, To try to arrest their development of a nuclear arsenal, then they would be able to wage war against the whole region as they have right now.
03:18:42.000And they will be able to rain missiles and drones on the Strait of Hormuz, on Saudi Arabia, on all the Gulf countries, on our bases, Israel, Jordan.
03:18:50.000And their proxies would be able to pin Israel down in the north.
03:18:55.000Their proxies would be able to shut down the Red Sea and all these other pipelines that have been built to bypass Iran's blockade over the Strait.
03:19:12.000We can't let them have enrichment capability.
03:19:15.000And that has always been the contention for the most part.
03:19:20.000Iran has been a little bit less reluctant to give up its existing stockpile, but they have absolutely refused, obstinately, to give up enrichment.
03:19:32.000The final piece of this is to solve the root cause of the conflict.
03:19:37.000If you're following this, the deal is structured in such a way that we end the fighting between the U.S. and the Gulf and Israel against Iran.
03:19:45.000We open up the strait so that the global energy market can recover.
03:19:50.000But the third part is the most important.
03:19:52.000It is how do we negotiate to end the root causes that got us here?
03:19:56.000And the root cause is that Iran has a nuclear program.
03:20:00.000And so Iran is saying, well, we're going to have this expedited timeline.
03:20:03.000And here's what we're willing to give up we're willing to give up our stockpile and we're willing to let the inspectors come in.
03:20:10.000But what they're not addressing is the enrichment capability.
03:20:14.000And that is what the United States is going to have an issue with.
03:20:17.000We are going to insist that they not be able to enrich at all.
03:20:21.000We're not going to settle for restrictions on enrichment, like that they can only enrich up to a certain point, and international inspectors and monitors will come in to verify that they're complying with the deal.
03:20:35.000Because at this point, having dealt with Iran, we see that even if we get rid of their stockpile and the inspectors come in, all that we are realistically doing is giving Iran time.
03:20:48.000To rebuild their economy, rebuild their military industrial complex, which allows them to rebuild their drone and missile arsenal.
03:20:56.000They will then export this to their proxies and rebuild those in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and elsewhere.
03:21:03.000And then in five years, they once again have the ability to deter aggression from the U.S. and Israel.
03:21:10.000And once they've achieved this, they can race towards a bomb and expel the inspectors, and we would not be able to do a thing about it.
03:21:19.000So, all of this is to say, I don't think Washington is going to bite on this.
03:21:25.000It looks like they're ready to negotiate, but they're really not.
03:21:30.000If they're insisting on a ceasefire in Lebanon, if they're insisting probably that they will control the strait, if they're still not willing to give up the centrifuges, then what are we talking about here?
03:21:40.000This is the same proposal from June, which didn't work.
03:21:44.000It's the same proposal from February, which didn't work.
03:21:47.000It's the same proposal from last year before.
03:21:51.000Rising Lion and Midnight Hammer that also did not work.
03:22:05.000Iran understands that the United States is bleeding right now.
03:22:08.000We just authorized a 90 day diesel export ban because we're getting hit with these record high diesel prices, which will cause acute upward pressure on prices and inflation.
03:22:34.000And I know that Iran understands that if Trump can bring this war to an end before the election, that's a big boost for him.
03:22:42.000Not only do you solve this very acute problem, which is that this energy shortage is going to get really bad, but also you get to then turn the negative into a positive and say, look, we won the war.

03:23:02.000And maybe that's a political boost to Trump in the midterms.
03:23:05.000And what's more, the situation is very precarious in Saudi Arabia, like we talked about.
03:23:10.000At the same time that Iran is offering peace to the United States, its proxies are escalating the war against us and Saudi Arabia.
03:23:18.000At the same time they submitted this deal, the Houthis declared today that the Bab el Mandeb in the Red Sea is now not just close to Saudi Arabia commercial shipping, but also American linked commercial shipping as well.
03:23:31.000So they're increasing the pressure, tightening the screws against the Saudis, against us.
03:23:37.000The Saudis are holding back the oil to Europe because they want us to intervene in Yemen.
03:25:09.000If we agree to open the straight under any conditions, then they effectively get to control it and say it's ours now.
03:25:15.000We also, they also get a reprieve in Lebanon.
03:25:19.000If we get Israel to stop bombing Lebanon and we hold them to it, probably this is very bad for Netanyahu.
03:25:25.000His election is sooner than Trump's, his election's on the 27th.
