00:11:02.200And the definitive factor about them is that they hold high seats around the well of earth and they give judgment to men.
00:11:14.360They measure out the doom or judgment of mankind or folk.
00:11:21.220And that's what makes the 24 unique compared to the Austvenir or the Himenverder.
00:11:33.460And so Eir is brought under the dominion of the gods of order.
00:11:40.260his domain is given over to the gods and the anchor point is made he is the primordial
00:11:51.140being of the deep ocean and the gods need to cinch up every loose pocket in the middle world
00:12:01.220And one of them is the soup of Ymir's blood that still contains beasts from his time.
00:12:11.200And so they lock in and that takes the form of the great cauldron.
00:12:17.600And so he is coming up into the heavenly realm to have a discussion with the gods, and he is much like or akin to a guest that would have experienced very similar in our ancestors' time.
00:12:38.640of coming amongst an established people.
00:12:43.280They have fashioned temples and forges and have weapons
00:12:47.580and all the good things that a people should have.
00:12:51.580And he's sitting amongst them, asking them questions.
00:12:56.840And he is speaking to the scald of the gods, Bragi.
00:16:14.200You own the land and you are you are a caretaker of it.
00:16:18.880So a wife coming from Anglo-Saxon, meaning a wiefman, a soft person or a person who is gentle, and then husband or husband coming from the Old Norse, landowner.
00:16:40.840um so he laments my nine thralls just killed themselves and i am not going to make harvest
00:16:51.360so it was then that odin called himself ball worker in bowie's presence bowie asks
00:17:04.400lord odin in the original story because again bear in mind these are condensements
00:17:10.860of the stories he asks what is your name what is your what is your heighty what is your title
00:17:18.960and he says my name is ball worker which means bail worker so immediately
00:17:27.360the audience would know he is here to do whatever he must do in order to ensure
00:17:38.040attaining what he wants and that means even if he needs to work balefulness woe or evil is is the
00:17:49.820other word for it um he has come here because the long chain of events that has led to the demise
00:17:58.900of kvasir the first storyteller of the gods means that now he is coming in and he is coming in like
00:18:07.080uh just a force of nature something beyond anything that they could even prepare for
00:18:42.560bowie declared uh that he had no control what whatsoever over the mead or where it was or his
00:18:55.820brother and he said that sutungur was determined to have it for himself but he promised to go with
00:19:03.740Bolverkur and try, if they might, get the mead. I can't control it. I can't control my brother,
00:19:12.600but I will aid you in going there. And so this now brings Lord Odin one step closer
00:19:20.200to the mysterious destination of where it's been hidden.
00:19:24.280so uh during the summer bovoker accomplished nine men's work for bowie but when the winter came
00:19:37.300he asked bowie for he uh he asked bowie for his hire then they uh let me see sorry the
00:19:49.040light is bothering so then they took out for sutunger's hall bowie told
00:19:57.600sutunger his brother of this bargain with the mysterious bulwaker bail worker but sutunger
00:20:07.080flatly refused told him no i don't care what kind of deal you made with this stranger you're not
00:20:14.540going to get the location or even an a drop of the mead that i have so then bolverker made a
00:20:26.600suggestion to bowie that they try a certain wiles a certain trickery if perchance they might find
00:20:36.680the means to get at the mead and bowie agreed regularly thereupon balver drew out an augur
00:20:49.160a drill a hand drill called ratti saying that bowie must bore into the rock so he's
00:21:00.360He's kind of referencing to the idea that the drill being like the chattering or the clacking of teeth is taken by the Jotun, the bigger one.
00:21:20.020He can drill into a mountain and there is supposedly the hidden mead.
00:21:27.900So, he said, at last, Bowie said that the rock, oh, excuse me, thereupon, Bulwerker drew an auger and called it Ratti, saying that Bowie must bore into the rock if the auger could cut it.
00:21:46.040he did so at last bowie said that the rock was bored through but bulverka blew into the auger
00:21:55.900hole and chips of stone flew back at him he then discovered that bowie would have deceived him
00:22:05.120and he bade him to bore further through the rock so this part here whether our ancestors are
00:22:14.000drilling through wood or through stone um there is hesitance on bowie's side he drills in and as
00:22:23.880he's drilling in he begun he begins to realize this is a tiny hole and uh he doesn't know how
00:22:31.640balverick is going to work with this but he certainly can't work with it either so he can't
00:22:37.560get his hands on the mead so he says oh it's drilled all the way through the drill bit has
00:22:43.420gone as far as it can and uh bulver blows into the hole and it blows back chips of rock and he's
00:22:53.860like no keep going keep going keep going so there's this kind of exchange that happens in
00:22:59.200the original story that might not be conveyed here so he then discovered that bowie would have
00:23:08.120deceived him and he bade him to bore through the rock bowie bored anew and when bolverker blew the
00:23:16.680second time then the chips were blown in by the blast then bolverker turned himself into a serpent
00:23:26.040and crawled into the auger hole but bowie thrust at him from behind with the auger nearly missing
00:23:35.320him ball worker proceeded to place to the place where gun love battle song was and he laid with
00:23:48.120her for three nights and then she gave unto him to drink three drops of the meat in the first
00:23:59.400draught he drank every drop out of the cauldron called ordre uh ordre ordre excuse me the stirrer
00:24:11.800of inspiration and in the second he emptied barton and in the third he drank son and then
00:24:24.520when he had all of the mead in his gullet he then turned himself into the shape of an eagle
00:24:33.240and flew furiously up through the top of the mountain but when sutungur came in he sees
00:24:44.120lord odin take the shape of an eagle and he looks at gun low then he's
00:24:49.720i will get to you and then he himself turns into an eagle
00:24:57.500so now lord odin is tracking from jotunheim back into heaven and it's not long before
00:25:10.700all of the gods specifically heimdall heimdall sees them coming and he tells
00:25:17.600all of the gods, that Lord Odin is coming, and he is in the shape of an eagle, and he is weighted
00:25:24.380down, and I don't know why, but he is not alone. So he assumed the fashion of an eagle and flew
00:25:32.720after Balvargar. When the Aesir saw Odin flying straight away, they began to set out vats inside
00:25:45.360the courtyard and when Odin came into Ausgard he spat up all the mead into the vats. Nevertheless
00:25:54.540he came so near to being caught by Sutungur that he sent some of the mead backwards or it dribbled
00:26:03.740out or over and no heed was taken of this and whosoever would might have that and we call those
00:26:13.820the poet tasters part. We call that mead the poet tasters part, but Odin gave the mead of
00:26:23.860Suttungur to the Aesir and to those men who possess the ability to compose words.
00:27:19.640Yeah, so one of the things I, you know, is obviously looking deeper.
00:27:31.200not written here explicitly but lord othen attaining the mystery from the feminine from
00:27:42.400the horn bearer and he goes into the mountain meeting gunro the battle song and from this drink
00:27:54.800as or the drink of the the three cauldrons three wells or um three bowls sometimes it's it's in
00:28:03.440essence it's like vats that are that the mead is brewed in now the mead comes from fossier's blood
00:28:13.680to connect people back to what we were talking about before there is the first storyteller that
00:28:19.920walks amongst the gods of the folk and amongst the dvergar or the dwarves in the lower realm
00:28:29.520he is a storyteller and he is made up from the mouths of all of the gods after they had made
00:28:37.040union following the war most people remember the hostages or um as a kind of the end of the war
00:28:46.560but there is also kvassir and we went into explaining the primitive or uh primordial drink
00:28:57.200called um kvatch and how uh kvatch and mead and the ascendancy of kvatch to mead
00:29:07.600was uh most likely a very physical thing that happened in our culture um but this mead is not
00:29:17.120just mead it's it's the inspiration of poetry and so when we have um order yard
00:29:28.480Odriars, meaning stirring of inspiration.
00:29:38.060The point of the gathering of the three is, again, another Aryan mythos cycle.
00:29:47.020Everything is done in threes, especially in relation to dynamic formulation when things begin to move.
00:29:55.800They're no longer stagnant. They're no longer held in seclusion. They're no longer solitary. They're no longer in a static position. They begin to move. And as soon as they do, there is the number three kind of happening.
00:30:12.400You'll always see the number three either right before or right after a catalystic moment.
00:30:21.720And when he comes into the courtyard, one of the things that's not mentioned is they light fires along the walls of Ausgarth.
00:30:31.720And they light the fires so that when Suttung comes in, he is lit ablaze.
00:30:40.240And in the panic, Lord Odin releases some of the mead of Kvasir out into the world, and it descends.
00:30:53.540And this goes back to cosmology, our ancestors' understanding of cosmology.
00:31:00.280when the the cosmology is kind of spoken about in stories our ancestors seeing that the gods live
00:31:11.940in him in there or him in uh in the heavenly mountains so he is flying from the east
00:31:21.460over the world of men and he is ascending up into the central mountains of the gods
00:31:28.900towards Ithaval where the gods live and when he does so he sprinkles some of the mead down over
00:31:37.940the world of men since it is the middle world and it is the middle world so because it is surrounded
00:31:44.960on all sides and above and below it. So this progression of him traveling there, and then
00:31:54.560when he comes up over the mountain edge, he descends towards Ithaval, and the gods see him
00:32:01.100coming, and they set up the fires, and they time them just right as the very large and imposing
00:32:09.960Sutungur, who can also take shape, is in pursuit, talons out, ready to snatch him up and drag him
00:32:20.060back to Jotunheim, but he doesn't make it. And then Lord Odin dispenses the mead into receptacles
00:32:28.260in heaven, and that mead that's been through the entire process of, like alcohol, it's this process
00:32:39.340of taking the raw materials, placing them together,
00:32:43.120and then working their way through where alcohol is created,
00:33:07.920It connects them all together. Much like when we hold bloat and we ask the gods to bless mead so that we may drink of their blessings, we share that horn.
00:33:24.960We have done that since our time in memorial, or I would, you know, again, from the resurrection of AUSA through Founder McNallan, we have always done this.
00:33:53.580And so, Kvasir's blood is a connecting point between all of the gods. And at the same time, a drop of it, a sprinkle of it, is the inspiration of the poet, the inspiration of the artist or the wordsmith.
00:34:17.100um or you know i i kind of believe it's when someone shows something that shows that
00:34:27.920ability to speak to the people and inspire them to such great lengths that's why like in movies
00:34:35.980we have the whole war the war speech and you know hitting the spears before the charge it's
00:34:44.940It's so intrinsic in our culture of this inspired moment. And sure, yes, absolutely the scald, absolutely the poet, but also to the leader who speaks aloud and doesn't address one single person,
00:35:10.380but all of the host and says this is what we're doing or this is why we're doing it and it just
00:35:19.060rises in the blood um to move forward towards victory that is the gift of the icier so now
00:47:14.640And Bragi said, there is metaphor and there is meter.
00:47:20.640What manner of metaphor is used for Scaldic writing?
00:47:27.760Three are the types of Scaldic metaphor.
00:47:32.540Which, thus, first, calling everything by its name.
00:47:38.920The second type is that which is called substitution.
00:47:43.960The third type of metaphor is that which is called peripherous.
00:47:51.300And this type is employed in such a manner,
00:47:54.900Suppose I take Lord Odin or Thor or Tyr or any of the Isir or any of the Alvar, the elves, and to any of them whom I mention, I add the name of a property of some other of the Isir, or I record certain works of his thereupon.
00:48:20.060he becomes owner of the name and not the one whose name was applied to him.
00:48:27.420Just as when we speak of victory Tyr, or Tyr of the Hanged, or Tyr of the Cargo,
00:48:46.840So, also, with the title Tyr of the Wane, what he's explaining is there are certain people out there who are trying to say that by the usage of the name Tyr, somehow the god Tyr is not feasible or real.
00:49:12.580no it's actually Odin but what he's explaining right here again is that even the gods titles
00:49:21.700can be used as adjectives in relation to other gods and that's why he is laying that groundwork
00:49:31.320explaining to the young Skald that if you call this god victory Tyr it's not that he's Tyr it's
00:49:40.140that he is Odin, but the very title of Tyr, the very actions of him have warranted his name to
00:49:50.500be utilized as a title, which is pretty awesome. If everyone doesn't like it, like, oh, are you
00:50:00.640joshing me? That's terrible for Josh. But if you say, I don't know what would be something for
00:50:08.800like victory or just really a home run, every time they said a home run, they said your name,
00:50:17.220that would elevate your presence. That speaks about how they culturally view you. So that's
00:50:25.120kind of what's going on here is that the titlings of the gods can be utilized as adjectives in
00:50:32.240relation to other gods and uh their functions you know or or something of that nature this uh say
00:50:42.480this thing is um an evil and wellspring because either one gives unto the gods their uh sacred
00:50:54.000energy, then it would be likened unto that. So he explains some of that, and he also speaks
00:51:03.320some of the heitia of Lord Odin, where he is called Tyr of the Hanged. And again, this
00:51:12.280references back to Lord Odin and those of the Crossroads, those of the Lost Souls. The Wild
00:51:20.820hunt picks them up um tear of the cargoes uh he is the god of of uh
00:51:31.140riches and that which comes through trading so uh this again lends to understanding our ancestors
00:51:40.020would pray to lord othen for money and success in business
00:51:45.620um so we see as he's explaining this um then uh there's tear of the wane or god of the wagon
00:51:57.800and this could be referencing to um holy frere um so we begin to see how this spreads um and he's
00:52:08.260starting to lay more formulaic framework of skaldic craft in eight he says words just to younger
00:52:18.580skalds so another point is we can also see that a lot of this is snorri's formulation he's using
00:52:31.140elder lore to formulate with his own personal inflection certain things, especially when it
00:52:43.360comes into the nitty gritty of poetry. And that is the organic nature of our faith. Our poems are not
00:52:54.000a book that where the authors in their varied states say, oh, no, no, this is absolutely the
00:53:04.180word of this God. No, it's an organic faith built around the oral tradition of speaking and telling
00:53:11.240stories. So Snorri is continuing that. And for the longest time, he was the last one until the
00:53:20.960resurrection and return of our faith um so words just to younger scalds but now one thing be said
00:53:33.580to young scalds to such as yearn to attain to the craft of poetry and to increase their store
00:53:43.240of figures with traditional metaphors, or to those who crave to acquire the faculty
00:53:50.900of discerning what is said in hidden phrases. Let such an one then interpret this book
00:54:00.300to his instruction and pleasure, yet one is not so to forget or discredit these traditions
00:54:08.420as to remove them from poetry, those ancient metaphors with which it has pleased chief
00:54:16.960scalds, to be content, nor, on the other hand, ought Christian men to believe in the heathen
00:54:27.600gods, nor in the truth of the tales otherwise, than precisely as one may find here in the
00:54:35.140beginning of the book. That is a very interesting way to phrase that. He is covering himself,
00:54:45.520but he does say the truths herein, I'm not saying you're supposed to believe in the gods.
00:54:52.740That's him covering himself up, but he does say the truth in the tales. And he also says,
00:54:59.580don't deviate away from it these were passed down by our ancestors don't start chucking things out
00:55:09.040just because they're from a time when our ancestors were not Christian so I think this
00:55:18.040is really important one of the big criticisms that people like to throw out and I think unfairly
00:55:25.220is that um oh we can't believe it because snorri was a christian
00:55:32.900first i often don't think that that is a well-intentioned criticism i think that that is a
00:55:42.100easy cop out to make up whatever you want or to you know discard all the stuff you don't like
00:55:51.620or whatever i don't i don't think it's come by honestly a lot in the times that it is come by
00:55:56.340honestly yeah because christians wrote stuff but most of the i don't know a wealth of scientists
00:56:08.340and academics and scholars of all ages have typically been christian from you know 1 000
00:56:20.100until 50 years ago so that in itself shouldn't be disqualifying and i think this line in here is
00:56:31.060important to note that he took it seriously and he tells everybody like hey you don't have to
00:56:35.620believe this but don't lose even a drop of this knowledge don't lose don't forget it don't discredit
00:56:42.420it don't mess with it you don't have to believe it but you have to keep this remembered you have to
00:56:48.580keep this recorded he was an excellent scholar and it's very unfair to suggest otherwise he's
00:56:55.300also a proud son of iceland who preserved for us the faith of his ancestors in a clear way
00:57:04.260that surpasses anyone else in history we should be very grateful for that and with uh with that
00:57:16.660Let's hit some of these questions that we've got stacking up.
00:57:25.760All right, so a couple of these were asked, I guess, previously, but they were addressed
00:57:43.500all i have ever heard about them is that they are bad my middle name is faye so it
00:57:48.620means something more personal to me thank you uh is that the spelling is f-e-y uh f-a-e
00:58:03.660yeah she doesn't mean f-e-y uh yeah i mean i've heard both um
00:58:10.140kind of uh both spellings for it i don't know what changed i know that the fey and the fae
00:58:20.220sometimes people have done that just like they do with uh magic with a k
00:58:25.500or something they kind of do a variation um no the the fey are
00:58:30.940are Lanvetir. And just as Snorri mentions here in the poem, he says that sometimes the attachment
00:58:42.120and title are synchronized. So I always point out when I do classes at Thorsoth, Lord of the Rings,
00:58:52.560Gandalf. And most people say, oh, that's a kenning for Lord Odin. It's not. It's actually
00:58:59.540pulled from the dvergatal, the listing of the dwarves, but you'll notice something poetically
00:59:06.000there. Anytime there is the usage of the word alf or alvar, there is a word before it. So
00:59:14.680gandalf, wand elf, magic user. Sailors, vikingr, vikings are called skip alf or
00:59:27.840beings of the ship and so it means perfect synthesization through or into the formulation
00:59:38.000of what that alf is whether it's the darkness whether it's the light or whether it's the
00:59:46.160swarthy or the sooty the the granular material um that makes them perfectly unified
00:59:57.680Now, when we get into the fey, the fey kind of fall into what we would generally refer to as landvaitir.
01:00:07.840Landvaitir, or land spirits, are so numerous that they can't be defined one way or the other.
01:00:21.040It is really built about the relationship that you have with them.
01:00:26.060It is saying there are spirits of the land, and if I interact with them, I take stewardship of my land, and I give them honor, then I am reciprocated in this relationship.
01:00:46.820But if I do not, if I care not, if I treat the land foul and poison the land, then they are capable of messing things up, even all the way down to possibly hurting me.
01:01:04.820like if you look up elf shot in anglo-saxon um legends so they had the capacity to be
01:01:16.460dangerous but so do people and uh so do the gods it is really built around your relationship to
01:01:29.480them um and your building of a relationship to them so i wouldn't say that the fey or the lambatier
01:01:38.360as we would use in a in a more uh germanic context um are evil um and bear in mind after christianity
01:01:48.840Across the board, many different subsections of magic and of these beings has been infantile or infantilized or childized into where it was, you know, the troll became a little fat, you know, man with one tooth like a hobo fishing.
01:02:18.840And the Fae were, you know, flower cupped headed, little winged bug people. And the way our ancestors looked at them was no, they were not like that because they held great power.
01:02:37.960So making them childlike or diminutizing them was an effect of trying to tell the folk they don't have as much power and they're just children's stories. Insignificant.
01:02:55.760but anybody that looks around even on the internet today when we talk about cryptids
01:03:05.020or we talk about hauntings or we talk about things like that there is this serious sense of power
01:03:12.340oh in europe they're gonna hug you and give you tea that's because they're still framed in
01:03:19.800the uh kind of infantile way that christianity pushed that uh separating the folk from the land
01:03:30.200and bringing them predominantly insular the religion being insular and the religion being
01:03:36.980based in the the the church and within the book um whereas you can see there's eventually there's
01:03:45.500always a call back to an understanding that the folk should respect the land because the land has
01:03:51.840power um so but is that power evil or good it depends on the person
01:03:59.040yeah it's uh it's confusing and it's one of the it's one of the reasons that we stick with
01:06:32.000as an example in our language too the perfect uh kind of just to comparative monster you could say
01:06:42.240this person is a monster or you could say i encountered a monster uh while i was whistling
01:06:50.080in appalachia at night and suddenly very very different meanings it's a title it's it's it has
01:06:59.600um worth that can be applied through multiple contexts as i was hearing what he said um
01:07:10.880all right so i'm going to skip ahead to the very last question that we have just because it's being
01:07:16.320talked about in the chat room a little bit and it's worth commenting on are books written by
01:07:21.600Mark Currier or the Naranis Society good for using to study? Svon?
01:07:26.960I tried to find the silver lining in all things, so I do have kind of a yes and a no.
01:07:40.160I think that formulating information and looking it over and dissecting it is good. And if you
01:07:48.560have that in a format that is fine the bad part of this is is that the translations are not always
01:07:56.880correct so don't immediately think oh somebody has done this and should that's i should just
01:08:05.360believe it 100 the uh austral folk assembly encourages that everyone read all of the
01:08:11.920different translations it's the very reason why we rush to look something up because we want to
01:08:18.480ensure that we are giving the true or at least the uh whole possible interpretation of things
01:08:28.240instead there is this movement there with purrier where he um will say oh this means that and um i
01:08:38.720think the most egregious ones that i saw that i can just river off the top of my head is that um
01:08:44.640And the wolf children that surround Valhall is a reference to Heimdall. And I was like, oh, you know, I, okay.
01:09:00.260And, you know, I had always, especially not just myself, but within those that were translating lore, took that as these are, you know, the berserkers of Lord Odin, the children of the wolf.
01:09:18.220The, because he's telling King Gerov, there is a gate, there is a moat, there are berserkers, there are all of these defensive capabilities surrounding Valhall.
01:09:33.740And the only reason why I would, you know, I would know that is because I'm Lord Odin.
01:09:38.920That's the whole context of the story.
01:09:41.020So for someone to just blatantly say that was kind of odd.
01:09:48.220And then another point is the separation of the rivers
01:10:17.180numerous places but there are other rivers mentioned and I am of the belief
01:10:24.740that there are the there are polaric rivers in heaven and in the middle world
01:10:31.940but for whichever ones that he in essence couldn't account for he just
01:10:38.180said oh that's a name for a sacred river I'm not even giving context to the
01:10:45.560actual meaning of the of the name of the river so you know it's it if it's not particularly useful
01:10:55.160in uh projecting forward an idea it's generally dropped and so there isn't a huge commitment
01:11:04.600to ensuring that the reader is getting everything instead it's a focal point towards
01:11:13.160uh a directive and um that is one of the the good and the downside to to all of it i was trying to
01:11:27.160when swan said that he tried to find silver linings it occurred to me and i was going to be
01:11:32.440like i mean reading stuff's good is it beneficial to read the communist manifesto or to read the
01:11:39.480bible or to read the quran yeah you learn something you don't have to agree with you
01:11:45.000that you learn something but i can't say that about the norena society material
01:11:52.600because it's not learning something different it's confusing and
01:11:59.800And I don't want to say deliberately so, but I think it's the best way I can explain.
01:12:13.440And what Svahn said, certainly, and I know that people, when they process the law, and I respect,
01:12:23.540I think that if you just give an academic regurgitation, a million people do that.
01:12:30.560If you sincerely believe in our faith, drawing conclusions and having opinions on it is essential to moving forward and growing an understanding.
01:14:26.880Sometimes the exception being noteworthy proves the rule,
01:14:31.000But I think oftentimes in their way of thinking, one exception is worth creating your whole new rule. Aha, I found the one odd instance that doesn't match. Let's go with that.
01:14:46.480It's almost like a bizarro world Occam's razor where given the option of the thing that makes the most sense, we should always choose the more obscure or occult thing.
01:15:01.000And in doing so, I think a lot of impieties occur.
01:15:06.500His, I think they put far too great an emphasis on the Gesta De Norum, which I think is probably the least valuable piece of our lore.
01:15:27.920it is the most euhemorized work that exists dealing with dealing remotely with the topics of
01:15:38.080of our high mythology and it it's interesting but there is a disproportionate value i think
01:15:50.120noranus society places on that in doing so they condemn magic they condemn any kind of female
01:16:00.120magic any kind of safe practice um by doing so they i think do a great empire to lady freya
01:16:10.520um and i think a lot of their conclusions a lot of their stuff just inaccurate
01:16:16.440and they are very quick to take a fringe theory that occurs to them and present it as if it is
01:16:22.760the overwhelming and obvious fact that anyone with common sense would understand that's just
01:16:28.840not true um and it happens a lot and it's not mentioned as a special norena society belief
01:16:39.000it's presented as if that's what the work said to begin with and so it's very very confusing
01:16:45.560and i say that i haven't read an arena society book in years because the ones that i did read
01:16:51.720were erroneous in the ways that i mentioned i don't know if their newer stuff is better than
01:16:56.360their old stuff i don't think mark is ill-intentioned i think some of those guys
01:17:01.720are jerks and are ill-intentioned i think others are atheists that just want to nerd out about
01:17:07.240something but i think mark is a good man i just don't agree with how he comes at our lore i don't
01:17:15.160agree with his thought process on it and i don't think that reading their material is is helpful
01:17:22.120and i wouldn't advise it but you know you are all arian men and women and you can make your own
01:17:28.360choices if that's something you want to read but i would not advise it may i say one thing that
01:17:32.760emphasizes your point so because anyone can listen to alsir go the and say well well that's just your
01:17:38.520opinion but i have physical proof i would uh say anybody that wants to uh verify what we're saying
01:17:49.160to be true would just look at the cosmology representation of the norena society so
01:17:56.680So in the Gilviking, it says that the root, there is the third root of Yggdrasil in heaven, and that the gods gather together at the base of the tree.
01:18:11.540So there is that. And that because there was no consideration of the idea that heaven, from our ancestors' perspective, is in the center of the world and upon the heavenly mountains, and that Yggdrasil is in the center.
01:18:30.580So if we're looking at the world as a giant flat plain, and in the center, there are the mountains and there is Yggdrasil. Yggdrasil is the Axis Mundi. It's there. It's centralized. And then the roots spread out and go into the different worlds and different depths and all of that. It's stated clearly in the lore.
01:18:53.120However, they couldn't have that. They didn't want that or they couldn't have it. So they changed the interpretation. And when they made their cosmological drawing, it's what I call the, even though it clearly says in the lore where things are.
01:19:11.400and it was because the conception wasn't there that they forced the lore to fit the conception
01:19:20.080um it is very much the same with bivrost bivrost is depicted as being this rainbow that arches
01:19:28.820over everything and that uh it is uh kind of like a dome or a a rainbow line between two
01:19:38.540points in the underworld that goes up into the heavenly realm instead of the fact that bivros
01:19:45.020the shimmering bridge is a bridge that is hard to find it's it's uh not traversable by anyone access
01:19:56.060into heaven isn't so and on top of this coming from heaven so this access point into heaven
01:20:05.100this fragile bridge built to break under the weight of the enemies,
01:20:10.820but is accessible to those who are worthy to be in heaven.
01:20:17.100You lose all of that when it's, oh no, it's just simply this arched bridge
01:20:22.660or a kind of dome structure that just happened or, you know,
01:20:31.200And that the gods can take it down. I don't know if they take it down and then jump off into the middle marshmallow or what have you, but it's clear in our lore that Bivrost is a defensible bridge, which the whole fragility point, anybody who knows castle and medieval and dark age defense systems would know that has double meaning.
01:21:01.200There's a very viable meaning why you make the bridge fragile so it can't be overrun, but they missed the entire point of the accessibility to heaven.
01:21:15.540And this is juxtaposed to the bridge to Helgard, which is wide and covered by the lore, meaning that it is easy to access the bridge because death is, the hell's road is the road all of us will take.
01:21:34.840the other last thing i wanted to say is the judgment seats the judgment seats are spoken
01:21:42.520of as being directly around the well of urd in heaven but they move urds well to the lower realm
01:21:51.180and then they compound that by saying every human soul goes down there and stands judgment before
01:21:58.520the gods and that your philkia is kind of like your lawyer and that's when we start to get really
01:22:05.960strange so this is this compounding of things the notion is that we can't have the tree with
01:22:14.760roots in every level but yet span the entirety so we're going to make it uh impale everything
01:22:22.920and all the roots that are described as being in heaven or in the middle world
01:22:27.400are now in the lower world and then there's going to be the judgment seats which are now in the
01:22:32.840underworld and again you look at all of the arian mythos um lord thor the the the striker never
01:22:43.800crossing into the underworld if you compare it to the hellenics the slavics and um the other uh even
01:22:52.520even the uh uh arian uh hindu the striker does not descend so it immediately starts to create this
01:23:04.520domino effect of falsehoods so you have to be careful with that
01:23:12.680yeah there's there's a lot of those things we could we could go on about them indefinitely
01:23:17.400there's the tic-tac-toe thing there's there's a bunch of stuff but that's from nigel pennock
01:23:24.920that is even for from the norena society is nigel pennock's runic
01:23:29.480nine yeah but he doesn't say that any other but he doesn't say this is illegitimate if you don't
01:23:35.960stand in a tic-tac-toe board but all right so all that aside um the next one's super easy so we'll
01:23:42.520do that one quick and then we'll go back to where we left off in the questions. 1010, I'm not sure
01:23:48.920if you are watching this or if you are listening, assuming you are watching. Nick, can you go throw
01:23:54.120up the map of our Hoff Districts, please? All right, so Phrase Hoff is the Hoff that is in the
01:24:05.960the very, very, very, very, very light blue.
01:24:12.960Frazehoff itself is in Austintown, Ohio.
01:28:21.340So, before I interrupted you, though, Swan, did you have a thought or a, you know, how do you envision hell to look?
01:28:30.480So, I have generally always taken the zeitgeist of our folk.
01:28:38.100I think that the zeitgeist of our folk, whether or not it is done by Ausatru or not, there is a kind of a yearning in our blood to reconnect to the gods.
01:28:51.840And that we have a tendency sometimes to take, or not we, but say our culture will take something and produce it almost as if it's like a reflex.
01:29:08.900And so I, I view the one half, which is mentioned in the lore as being black, which bear in mind that that color is blue. So she is blau and then she is flesh covered.
01:29:26.200And so down the middle is the general way that I have always perceived her. And in all of my art on my harger at home is that she is half blau or black and half flesh colored.
01:29:46.880colored but that's all that's mentioned um but i don't have any issue i've seen uh some really
01:29:54.880interesting artwork where she is um dead from the waist down and that in essence her femininity her
01:30:05.520motherhood is a reclamation of souls where life cannot be born so that gets pretty interesting
01:30:14.720And then I was going to bring up the cloak of hell or the cloak of death, the pooling of the blood in the back.
01:30:23.940And or, you know, it could just be referencing to the pooling of the blood, no matter which way a body lays. This is what happens. And so the direct correlation to she who is death, that poetic point is being made when it's referenced that she is half blau and half flesh colored.
01:30:49.740But I've never had a strong inclination either way, because I generally believe that the gods can be seen in different ways. I drew Holy Frey and Holy Freya as children at Njortzhov.
01:31:07.740Um, I have drawn Lord Odin with his brothers, Vili and Vey, and he does not have an eye missing.
01:31:18.740So, I think that the spanning of the way we can interpret or build that relationship with the gods through symbology can change depending on how we perceive maybe the timeline of the stories.
01:31:34.740I have seen Hel drawn as a child, where Lord Odin is kneeling before her and he's telling her, I'm going to give you a direction. I'm going to ordain you to hold the souls of the folk.
01:31:53.280Other stories say he casts her out. You know, there's different versions of that. But I found that infinitely interesting of the idea of her being a little girl. And I think that that's okay.
01:32:09.820I think that is very much one of the beauties of the way that we relate to our divine is they eventually exemplify the paragon of what they're supposed to be or how they are in our lives.
01:32:32.660But I say paragon of what they're supposed to be is in relation to, say, like Lord Odin as the Lord of Wisdom and the eye is missing because that has direct correlation.
01:32:44.660correlation. So these symbols are built up and we canonize in the Hoffs, but it doesn't necessarily
01:32:59.220mean that it's completely cordoned off from everyone else and or everyone's interpretations
01:33:07.120or a tattoo that they get. I don't think that there's anything wrong with perceiving them
01:34:00.840I think wondering and pondering over that, we can add our own layering of things that
01:34:07.840are meaningful, especially when the image is not specific.
01:34:11.240And I also think that we shouldn't over-obsess. The picture is to help us understand the essence of hell, not, you know, drawing a, you know, composite sketch for us to be able to identify her.
01:34:32.420Um, I think that the imagery is really important, but I don't think we could take that imagery and like, put it up to the actual, you know, stick it next to the actual goddess and have to match up all of the imagery in our war conveys the essence and the projection of what this God would appear.
01:34:59.520i don't think the reality of that goddess has the same
01:35:07.760physical limitations on form and on you know what you would see so i think the the depiction
01:35:16.220teaches us truths and stuff and because it's not made really specific here it gives us a lot of
01:35:22.580chance to apply meaning to the way that we conceive her and the way that we might draw
01:35:28.580her or depict her or think of her knowing that she is both has the appearance of being half living
01:35:38.140but also half dead you know half beautiful and half you know ugly with decay affects how
01:35:46.840we perceive her and the image that we have in our mind of her and i think that's the more
01:35:52.740important thing and that can kind of be left up to the beholder to a degree um spawn if you could
01:36:04.980if you could pick two which of our heroes you personally think
01:36:09.220are most likely to have ascended to the halls of the ic
01:36:12.340oh this is a great question um um i would say first and foremost would be uh
01:36:31.940Ragnar, Lothbrok, Lothrbrok, and secondly, I would say Eilskala Grimson.
01:36:44.280And the second one is very interesting in point, if you consider the way he died.
01:36:50.300And because of our belief in post-death ascension, that is something unique, I think, of our church comparatively to people who either say nothing about it or have the whole, you know, I'm only way to get into Val Hall is to die, brother.
01:37:12.380that kind of mindset um is that eoskala grimson dies of old age and i believe the ascendancy
01:37:26.500of the soul now does the soul go and uh get a chance to enter in and meet the ancestors
01:37:37.660Yes, I believe that they do, but that this is the key point. The root that leads up into heaven, which is why it's kind of important that you don't go against the lore and start moving the roots around and things of that nature.
01:37:57.120All roots draw up. That is why Nid-Augr is trying to break that root, is that there is a connection point between even the lowest realm, where the souls are protected and hidden from the onslaught during Ragnarok.
01:38:17.820There is still a way to come up and Yggdrasil produces the dew that drips into the well.
01:38:29.660And there the gods have their council seats.
01:38:33.260So all of the processes is being allocated through a choke point to the gods of order.
01:38:40.560That's what I'm reading when I'm just reading the lore.
01:38:44.780I'm not doing anything to fit the narrative. I'm reading the lore, and then I'm attempting to see the patterns.
01:38:54.840And so Eilskala Grimson dies of old age and then goes down, but the involvement of the gods in his life would lend me to believe that he was blessed with ascension after.
01:39:15.120We are still talking about him today. We still speak his story. And Lord Odin is actively engaged in his life. And then the deepest and kind of most tragic part is that he doesn't understand why he has lived so long.
01:39:39.720And again, the Nornir are the determiners of the fate, but they are there at the well in heaven, as well as the gods in the council seats.
01:39:54.080And so sometimes I think things that are taught ascend beyond the battlefield.
01:40:00.060And in Eil Skalagrimson's case, he was so formidable that the lessons learned by him, apparently to be taught to him by Lord Odin, and even some of the tragedies that he suffered were built in hardening him after his fighting age.
01:40:23.680and i believe that he was uh post um ascended after death and that might be a kind of a hot take
01:40:34.220but so i don't know i mean there's a lot of stuff to choose from and we could
01:40:42.500him and haw on it um i would say uh rather the strong and uh olivera i say that because they
01:40:59.400were practicing dothar they were engaged full they were fully engaged in the worship of the
01:41:10.520gods when they died for their loyalty to the gods. I think that puts them in a special stead
01:41:19.500that we don't necessarily see of the others. We have other heroes who are Gothar. We have other
01:41:27.500heroes who died for their faith in the gods. These two specifically were Gothar who died for their
01:41:34.880faith in the gods. So I would say those two. Do you think the spouse, Swan, do you think the spouse
01:41:42.400of someone ascended to the halls of the Iseer is likely to be ascended too? What about
01:41:48.740in a clear-cut example of devotion slash assistance to that ascendant from early adulthood unto death?
01:41:57.320i think that greatly depends on the situation i think it's worth noting when we look at the
01:42:07.300patterns of the lore um that idun being the source of the revitalization of the gods through
01:42:15.920her holy light in the golden apples is the feminine that feeds the force and organizational
01:42:25.940building of the gods when uh lord baldur is slain there is a succession of events that follow in
01:42:41.300exact accordance to orlaw or weird or dharma or whatever you want to call it and one of that is
01:42:50.580is that Hodr is going to traverse as well.
01:43:02.140At Baldrsof, you will see that Nana is kneeling
01:43:05.580and she's holding up a horn with one hand on a wolf
01:43:10.060and a horn being raised to Lord Baldr.
01:43:14.400There is this symbolic sense of the hornbearer
01:43:18.080giving over the feminine sacred to Lord Balder. And he is now in a different place. I'm not saying
01:43:31.000that the story facilitates an idea. What I'm saying is that the gods are so intrinsically
01:43:36.460tied with Orla that when something happens to one of the gods, there will be a succession of
01:43:46.600correct movements and one of them is is that lord balder needs the nourishment of the feminine to
01:43:56.540empower and focus him and that is through the devotion of nana and the the goddess nana
01:44:04.920and her exemplification of devotion that's why she has her hand on the wolf in the mural
01:44:12.140if you're furiousness or ferocity and all of those things are fine you can say you are going
01:44:20.440to slay the dragon but the reality is can you show up to clean the hoth every week or every month
01:44:30.060that devotion trumps the proclamation that you're going to one day fight the mythical dragon
01:44:37.620And that is what Lord Balder is having the relationship with Nana and why she is the goddess of devotion, even though I don't like to say that the gods are like, this is the god of this specifically.
01:44:55.720it's it's there in that relationship that establishes the title so as he is moved into
01:45:04.420a world away from the gods of order and into the misty realm the undefinable realm he is placed
01:45:12.700there with the souls of the folk so bear that in mind as well it's the uh because we are we have
01:45:20.760the ond we are fragments of the divine that the whole divine soul that is balder goes to this
01:45:28.600same respite place which is why i don't view helgard as being some terrible place it's just
01:45:35.880symbolically talked about terribly because it's death and death is scary um it's you know the
01:45:41.640calamities of man if you will vipers and venom and uh all the things that would kill people and
01:45:48.600people didn't fully understand why i just yeah this you know danger noodle just bit me ah now
01:45:54.920i'm dead and and that was scary very scary and so um balder descends into the the respite place
01:46:08.280of the souls of the folk and he is there and nana is there and hathor is there because that's what
01:46:15.080needed to happen. That's why Vali slayed Hodor, was to make correction in the heavenly realm.
01:46:23.920And he then gains sustenance from her devotion. Now, when we talk about mortals, that is,
01:46:35.820If I'm following the measurements of things, then the only way that that possibly could happen is by the decree of the gods. If the devotion of the mortal was strong enough, then they could certainly decree it.
01:46:55.320But we have to remember that the rainbow bridge, the ascendancy, is built on exclusivity.
01:47:05.400There is no sense of equality or necessarily, unless the gods decree otherwise, I mean, and again, anything I'm saying, the gods can say, no, you're wrong.
01:47:17.300We can do this at any time. But proximity and relationship does not always equate to entry into heaven. It's not like a ticket, you know, you know, somebody saying my husband was devout to the gods and he is, you know, post ascending into he goes up the route and comes out and into the heavenly realm.
01:47:43.820And he's fitting someplace like Skirnur or any of the other beings spoken of in the heavenly realm, not gods, not Alvar, and no longer men.
01:48:00.380And that kind of point is, I think, outside of the scope of what has been explained in our patterns and in our lore.
01:48:11.620But it's also worth noting that anyone, if you had the ability here on earth to know that someone you love was able to ascend to the holy gods and you were not sent with them based on proximity, there should be nothing but elation and joy and absolutely filled with honor.
01:48:37.420If I knew that one of my ancestors was taken up into the heavens because of how exclusive it is, or if my children or my wife, or I would be overwhelmed with pride that I was in the skein of Orla, I was tied in the same threads of weird with them.
01:49:02.400and that their success I was able to see, I was able to interact with.
01:49:10.500It's just the same as like being in the glory of a great leader or a great general.
01:49:15.560It doesn't mean that I get to go, but it does mean that I was there
01:49:21.520when I saw the very tangible things that made them ascend.
01:49:31.280maybe i think that's kind of the thing that is really important
01:49:39.040we feel very entitled in the modern west to stuff if you check certain boxes you get x
01:49:51.580doesn't work though um our heroes are granted ascension by the benevolence of the Isir and
01:50:04.060according to their will not because they check a certain box um so the Isir can us you know can
01:50:16.240pull up whoever they would like and we have no reason to believe that that comes with a plus one
01:50:24.540we have no really reason to believe that it doesn't something that is interesting is you do
01:50:30.600see um you see our gods and others beyond the veil with you see them partnered and you don't
01:50:40.740see them necessarily partnered with an equal. You see them partnered with their partner. Not
01:50:46.340necessarily of the same significance, but there tends to be an accommodation. You know, if you
01:50:51.500are one of the named Iser that has a bunch of position in the All-Father's Court, your spouse
01:50:58.080is also there. They may not be listed, you know, amongst the most important gods to worship or
01:51:04.700whatever else but you see them have a place there you see that um you know in the balder and nana
01:51:12.780example you see it in a number of places um so a spouse accompanying their husband to
01:51:23.020their new station it wouldn't that would not surprise me i don't think that would be out
01:51:28.140of keeping with the lore we just don't know um our next one here is there's
01:51:37.660a four there's four questions so first one i was finishing up the replay on the last show
01:51:44.620of spawn and had a couple of questions both loki and valley are listed as present at the meeting
01:51:51.420with Aya. Because of this, Sfahn mentioned it occurred before the Kinslaying. However,
01:51:58.020I believe Vowli was birthed in direct response to the Kinslaying. Loki and Vowli at the table
01:52:04.880together. Does this mean Vowli existed before the Kinslaying, or Loki was allowed to attend
01:52:11.360even after Chain? Or perhaps I'm missing something. So Sfahn, I don't remember what
01:52:17.280you said at the time is there anything you would like to clarify well i one thing is is that snorri
01:52:24.640stutlason um i do not believe that snorri stutlason was ousted through i do not believe he was
01:52:32.160secretly holding bloat uh in his basement or at a at a half um he was very devoted as a uh
01:52:41.760filled with national pride being an Icelander, especially since Iceland had been treated so
01:52:49.760foully by the crowns of both Norway and Denmark. I believe that he was
01:52:56.600desperately trying to make sure that the traditions did not change. So he wasn't trying
01:53:05.920to interject a bunch of garbage in there he was just more or less kind of steering the boat
01:53:16.400but one of the things that you can definitely see as being kind of inconsistent or having
01:53:23.920some problems is chronologic chronologically set things and also names just names in general so
01:53:35.920So the idea that, and again, you have to understand the way this works as well, is that you have a large group of people scribing in, I forgot the name of the rooms, that they would be dedicating their whole time to writing things down.
01:53:59.160transferring them over from perhaps notes or uh simon dur and his uh writings in latin and then
01:54:09.220you know they're bringing them over into uh old norse there are there is room for um inconsistency
01:54:19.940and uh chronological mistake and i it's just an opinion though bear that in mind that uh
01:54:30.220yes this is a chronological kind of um misstep in relation to loki and uh valli and i would
01:54:42.280argue that it would probably be more in inclination that loki is not there but um
01:54:52.200yeah there you we see this quite often where um we try to make a linear timeline of the stories
01:55:00.680and when we do so we start to see things but oh wait a minute why doesn't that that doesn't quite
01:55:08.200fit, but we forget that this is a group of men under the stewardship of Snorri Stuttleson
01:55:16.200copying things that he has written and things that are compiled in notes and are being
01:55:25.000directed to be put together. It's bound to have some mistakes. The biggest thing to understand
01:55:34.420is that the belief of Lord Odin being the one who instigates this seed
01:55:41.500being made specifically in Iceland at the time
01:55:45.820in order to ensure that it will germinate many, many years later
01:55:51.180despite the invasion of a foreign faith
01:55:56.200which did help fight against another foreign faith
01:56:00.300and if you are familiar with the stories
01:56:03.420you know that the wisdom and forethought sometimes requires sacrifice and i think that lord odin was
01:56:10.700directly involved in the purposing of the sagas but when we get into some of the details i think
01:56:19.420that's when i switch over to the more mundane and say okay this uh could very well have just been
01:56:27.420chronological inconsistency. Especially when we get into the Scalpers Mall versus
01:56:37.020like the Volospow and all of the other works, because those seem to be set and are kind of
01:56:45.900more or less moved or joined together. That's another point. Like in the Halva Mall,
01:56:53.780Most people are familiar with it. And it looks like it may be three separate distinct Skaldic poems that are placed together. That decision was made. It was made because the Runatal is connected to Lord Odin.
01:57:12.580And the sayings of Lodfafnir are connected to Lord Odin.
01:57:18.440So we take this and this and this, which are all deeply connected to Lord Odin, and we place them together.
02:01:13.140well you know i i the first half of the question is very formulated around um you know the genetics
02:01:22.420of the jotuns the genetics of the gods and then at the end it's what does it symbolize so i'm
02:01:28.340going to focus on that part there because i think all mythos is allegoric to um the truth beyond uh
02:01:43.140it's it's like painting the truth with words and the picture that is painted is the the
02:01:49.700the message to lead to the truth so um when you speak about the yachtins the ancient ones
02:01:58.340We know that, and oftentimes people get confused and think, oh, the Yotin, that word, has to be
02:02:05.420Ymir. No, it means the consumers, the elder beings, and the ancient ones like the mountains,
02:02:15.020and it is Avrumla who creates the first house, whose name is Böri, and she nudges him into
02:02:24.900Niflheim, and there reside Jotnar, ancient beings. And so he goes amongst them, takes a wife,
02:02:34.300and he has a son, and his son's name is Bor, and Bor takes a wife. So this is where the Jotnar title
02:02:43.240interlinks with the gods. But these Jotnar are ancient beings that have existed in Niflheim,
02:02:52.680primordial matter long before emir is shaped or giving birth of his own kin so there are
02:03:03.600again it's that titling that gets a little confusing um i'm not saying too that all of
02:03:11.400the children of emir are immediately bad or like some mythical other foreign race or anything that's
02:03:19.820That's actually not, it's proclivity towards, it's purpose and understanding of what one group of people to another.
02:03:31.220It's not just your physical, it's what you produce.
02:03:37.160It's the four pillars of what makes a race or an ethnicity or what have you.
02:03:42.780If you're interested in that, the first essay in Tyr, volume one by Dr. Stephen Flowers, goes into that.
02:03:51.720And it's really, really great because it talks about how the physicality is just one aspect.
02:03:59.140But the gods are of the Yotnar or the ancient source from the primordial.
02:04:07.820And they come into the center and they realize that Ymir, the Roarer, he will pose a great threat. His children pose a great threat. And that is when the triplets decide to descend upon him and slay him and change everything.
02:04:28.420and then there isn't some upper body yotnar and lower body yotnar uh that norena society
02:04:36.500goes on about this where there's like noble yotnar and ignoble and it's based on whether or not
02:04:44.580like symbolically it's the belt line of emir no all of emir's line are drowned in the blood
02:04:51.620except for Ber-Yelmer, the one who bears forth the yelling, because he is now the heir.
02:05:02.220So he is the new yelling, or he bears forth the new sound, and his wife.
02:05:09.260And they float to the east, and there they become Jotunheim after the gods push them out.
02:05:16.900They use the eyelash or the eyebrow or basically the force beyond sight.
02:05:26.140And there they, the older Jotnar of Ymir, hold grievance towards the gods for slaying their progenitor.
02:05:38.500But there are still the Jotnar in Muspelheim.
02:05:41.900There are still the Jotnar in Nivelheim.
02:05:44.360and they are not descended from Ymir. So I think that's really important to clarify that people
02:05:52.000kind of get mixed up because of the word Yotnar and they see it as like a racial nomenclature
02:05:59.800and not a title. So with that, when Idun is taken, the evolution of the gods starts when
02:06:12.680they claim ethel. And again, this is symbolic. We're not speaking in literal sense. They find
02:06:21.660their place in the heavenly realm, on top of the heavenly mountains, in the valley of work or
02:06:28.100renewal. They create their gardr, and the very usage of the word gardr meaning enclosure.
02:06:35.880They build their enclosure, and they create everything that they need there, and they build
02:06:42.340temples and they build forges. And that throws a lot of people off. Like, why would they build
02:06:48.060temples? Who are they praying to? No, this is simply stating that the audience would know
02:06:54.480that a Aryan society, a noble society would do these things. It's like a checklist. You would
02:07:03.320have games and you would have weapons and you would have temples and you would have smithies
02:07:08.820Because if you're not, you're basically a troglodyte living in a cave.
02:07:13.480And so the gods are doing what the folk do and the folk do what the gods are doing.
02:07:19.700It's symbiotic or circular, I should say.
02:07:23.060Anyways, so in this evolution of the gods, there is no story.
02:07:30.500And I don't know if it was lost or what may be.
02:07:35.660But the coming of the importance of the apples in relation to the gods, at some point, there is this sense that the gods are not fully Yatnar, and they intermix with them occasionally or are descended from ancient lines, but that there is this source that keeps them eternal.
02:08:02.940And again, this is very Aryan, all the way back with every group, every branch, the gods having ambrosia or soma or what have you, there is a sustenance of the heavenly realm that is cultivated so that the gods may remain focused and locked into their positioning in all of the spectrums of the world.
02:08:31.320So, again, symbolically, it's the golden apples. And that has a lot of cultural significance. And I like to focus too on the usage of golden and light. And that we see the usage of light amongst all of the gods all the time.
02:08:54.700And we barely take note of it. But, you know, it's Edwin's golden apples, light. We think of Heimdallar and his golden teeth, speaking light. Or, you know, that, of course, Lord Balder, light.
02:09:10.900you know all over the place with with his hall um and it meaning like gleaming like blink um
02:09:21.260because it's so shiny you just have to look ah so the gods are they are uh above like say what
02:09:30.840i would say traditional light like with the leo salvar they are in this heavenly light and you see
02:09:39.180it everywhere even lord odin which i think it's fashionable to turn him into the dark batman um
02:09:47.580and kind of you know no his costume has got to be black leather it's got to be black leather
02:09:52.300um no it he lived it's he's glad time and he's the he's the uh tier of cargo he gives bounty
02:10:03.580and and and people kind of just gloss over it's it's about perception it's about looking at and
02:10:10.960and finding these clues so there is an evolution that when the gods attain their guard one of the
02:10:18.140key components is a cultivation an orchard so they are cultivating they're not just simply
02:10:25.620happenstance finding things no they they create a system to cultivate the light to cultivate the
02:10:36.300heavenly sustenance the thing that makes them last or go beyond so that even ada in utgard
02:10:46.300which Lord Thor fights, cannot touch them.
02:10:51.800So where that is, it's never really gone into,
02:11:38.380They don't just exist in a stable thing without struggle.
02:11:46.280There is constant motion and constant struggle and constant action and involvement.
02:11:53.200And I think that characterizes our gods in a really important way that might be different than some less personal prime mover kind of force conceived in different religious conceptions.
02:12:08.380uh matt you were asked the different titles of the afa i noticed you didn't mention the
02:12:13.820law speaker was that just one that didn't pop into your head or is that not an official
02:12:20.380is that an unofficial office um it's official but it's unique um
02:12:28.380i don't know in deep antiquity in the afa if the position existed the position existed
02:12:40.860as far as i know exclusively with alan because he is an actual attorney um i don't think we have
02:12:50.780the you know reciting of the law kind of function that at a thing in the days of our ancestors might
02:13:00.780be necessary what is really important is that alan is actually our attorney he is a lawyer that sits
02:13:10.140on my counsel the specking are that can advise me to legality and best practices and navigating
02:13:22.380proper procedure from a very real you know bar certified attorney position
02:13:30.140i don't know that if we didn't have an attorney among us it's not a position that someone would
02:13:36.940fill if there's no one to fill it it doesn't exist a successor to alan who is also an attorney
02:13:44.220you know i'm fine with that being there but it's not one of the fundamental titles in the structure
02:13:49.340it's not like a fundamental level of title in the afa hierarchy it is a very unique and particular
02:13:55.820position it's kind of like steve exists as our founder he's often referred to as the founder
02:14:04.780there's only one founder and it's not like a continued position that is guaranteed
02:14:12.060outside of you know he will always be that position but when he passes beyond the veil
02:14:17.060it's not like somebody else fills that spot it's a very specific um title for a specific purpose
02:14:23.840as far as the or as the afa grows the burden on the high priest surely grows as does the work of
02:14:32.260leading the organization. You see a time when there might need to be two separate positions
02:14:37.180to shoulder the burden. Also, in choosing a successor, if you had to choose between a more
02:14:42.700pious and spiritual person with not the greatest leadership skills versus someone less in tune
02:14:49.800with the gods but a super organizer and leader, do you tend to favor one over the other if you
02:14:57.780didn't have a clear choice that had both such as yourself sir to be clear i'm saying the current
02:15:03.700ulcerative does have both i appreciate that and i appreciate your confidence
02:15:32.200And there's not going to be a time where that wouldn't be the case.
02:15:35.920But there certainly will be times where we will have to expand the current levels of leadership.
02:15:43.400That could be because of numbers of members, because of different membership in different countries.
02:15:54.040If we get more international members, yeah, I could absolutely see time where there will be additional positions to help shoulder all that additional responsibility, certainly.
02:16:07.300and that's something we've talked about um but yeah we we will expand both the number of leadership
02:16:15.780and the hierarchy of that leadership as you know as the needs arise as far as the successor question
02:16:28.580The quick shoot from the hip right answer is more pious over better administrator.
02:16:38.640But it's much more complicated than that because the details really, really matter.
02:16:44.840If we have a guy that is ultimately pious but that is completely incapable of leading, we can't have that.
02:16:53.180And if we have somebody who is an amazing leader, but is middling pious, it's better than the guy with all the piety in the world, but no ability to lead.
02:17:07.080It's easy to have a airy fairy speculative answer on it.
02:17:13.460But the nuts and bolts, the responsibility of ensuring this moves into the future is a heavy one.
02:17:20.180And the nuance of that matters tremendously.
02:17:26.120You know, and also, do you take the guy that's an okay leader and okay with piety?
02:17:32.840If you have one who's an amazing leader and no piety, or one with maximum piety and no leadership,
02:17:38.360you take the guy that's just okay with both.
02:17:41.500It's a really, trust me, that is the kind of question that I spend a lot of time pondering.
02:17:50.180I try to keep that plan unknown to folks because it does change and it does whatever, but I do keep a list of my top three successor choices in an order of, you know, right of refusal, I guess.
02:18:17.580and I try to keep triple redundancy on our AFA processes
02:18:21.980as much as is possible to where we do have fallback plans.
02:18:28.060But yeah, thinking about those things is really important.
02:19:07.980The hope and what we try to cultivate,
02:19:10.560and it's not, again, if this was a business
02:19:14.100And we had that kind of model where we didn't have the chains of loyalty amongst brothers and sisters who've been united in this under the washable IVIC for a long time.
02:19:30.640I know this is an optimistic view, but it's one we really try to build and to cultivate is amongst our levels of leadership, especially the higher you get in leadership.
02:19:41.080you want to have people there who are maximally devoted to the success of the
02:19:51.060Austro-Folk assembly and to pleasing the gods.
02:19:54.360And the hope would be that the other Speckinar,
02:19:59.360the other Gothar would help fill in what was lacking.
02:20:04.720And, you know, that's what we want altogether.
02:20:06.640I appreciate that you, you feel that I'm competent.
02:20:09.800and i certainly do my best but i want to have and i currently do have great people around me to
02:20:16.680to help and to advise me and to bounce ideas off of and discuss things with to where they
02:20:25.160you know can shore up areas that i need help in or that i'm weaker in
02:20:29.560and you know help help those things so whatever mixture of person we would find in that spot
02:20:35.960after me i have full confidence that they would have a strong staff of people to help bolster them
02:20:42.280and help fill in gaps and make it work and some of that is a very intentional effort of team building
02:20:52.520and a lot of that is putting trust and faith that our gods are helping to guide us
02:20:57.720Hello, I'm a new member. I've been reading Stephen McNallan's work.
02:21:07.620I really resonate with how he says that the soul grows sick when disconnected from ancestral
02:21:13.340religion. Do you think European Christians who claim to feel God are just tricked? Does this
02:21:21.060sickness affect them? When I tried Christianity, I never felt it was right. Svon, what are your
02:21:27.480thoughts on that? Anytime that I've ever met a folk person, and I mean folk as in white or
02:21:36.280our people, that has said that they have felt God, I have seen the, it is the
02:21:47.680The product of two particular moments and emotions. One is the overwhelming communal effect that many Christians find in their churches where they are with each other, working with each other and being good people, which would very much produce this connectivity.
02:22:15.260The other time is that, and it's often not talked about, is when they perceive, you know, they call them demons, but, you know, the original Aramaic is Shadim.
02:22:29.740They talk about demonic forces and things like that. So it's very polarized in this idea that whenever they brush up against divine, it's the good feeling I get.
02:22:45.260during these moments or the bad feelings i get during these moments and it's not necessarily
02:22:53.980quantifiable as an exchange or um this kind of relationship instead it's it's a result of the
02:23:06.300feeling of the moment and then they weaponize the fear they say oh you know well if you know
02:23:12.460You see this. This is what it is. The Bible says anything outside of God is a demon. And therefore, if demons exist, then my God exists. And my God exists because I feel him every time I feel good at the church. And it cycles.
02:23:33.860Whereas I think our view of divinity is built on relationship and that that relationship can have variant forms of interaction.
02:23:49.060I'm certainly not saying to like, I mean, that seems to be the modern thing.
02:23:53.160There are some Christians who are like, oh, no, no, you can have a relationship with Yahweh, which they don't call Yahweh, they just call him God, but the Germanic title, you know, oh, you should fear him. He's scary. He's, you know, he turned some city into in the Middle East into rubble because of, you know, butt sex or whatever.
02:24:20.920And so they're, you know, making these proclamations of big, scary, really, it's Torah, you know, old first five books of the Torah, Yahweh, he's scary, pillars of salt, blood on the door, and all of that.
02:24:43.100And then shifting over into the New Testament, it's the feeling of that connectivity.
02:24:50.740And the part that they kind of leave out is every time that the rabbi Jesus, which Jesus is just the Roman name of Yeshua, when the rabbi Yeshua was talking about their alignment with the law, the law of God, that's the Torah.
02:25:08.900that's the traditions of his people written before him he said that when they align with the law
02:25:18.740there is this perfect uh correlation between them and their creator so there is this joyousness
02:25:29.640and he even says when he believes that they go against that he says please father forgive them
02:25:37.700they know not what they do because they're traversing away from what he believed was the
02:25:42.620correct alignment to the law and every time they say the law that means the torah so and any
02:25:49.640christian that tries to wiggle out of that is lying to themselves so there is an internal play
02:25:57.420going on there between good and evil and it is always entirely built around that feeling because
02:26:06.360their soul is, you know, at risk. It's always at risk and they need to focus on where it's going
02:26:15.980in the afterlife and all of those things. So imagine it being like us having a friendship
02:26:24.820based on the email that the person is going to send to my next job. So I build this relationship
02:26:34.420and I had these feel-good moments, but don't forget, I did all the things. Send the email,
02:26:40.880making sure they know I'm good. So it kind of makes the pretense of the relationship
02:26:48.120odd or interesting. And it's odd in the scope of the Germanic sense that relationships are
02:26:55.240living and now, and actions have consequences for sure, but they're not always preordained.
02:27:03.840They are built as you go based off of the honor and the level of care that you take into committing to those actions.
02:27:16.740You're not, you don't have the caveat of, if you don't do this, you're going to be far away from Yahweh.
02:27:24.840And, you know, the more you do, or you take this one rabbi as the Messiah, then you get close to Yahweh.
02:27:33.080that that is astronomically different than the germanic relationship with the divine with our
02:27:41.000ancestors with the land spirits and even with each other they all correlate very similarly
02:28:30.040But I think people who claim to be Christians, because that's just a box you check, when they have moments in their life where they feel moved or transcendent, where they feel a divine presence, I think a lot of, that's the thing, we're wired to be aware of the divine.
02:28:55.800we're wired for a relationship with the gods for participating in the gift cycle with
02:29:02.100our gods and our ancestors and all of the the alvar and the dsir
02:29:08.700when you feel that around you i think a lot of people may put that into christian terms
02:29:16.840because they don't have the words to put it into something else but i do think that there are times
02:29:24.800where that feeling of transcendence or feeling of a divine presence,
02:29:30.660I do think some of that is feeling the longing for relationship with our gods,
02:29:38.440the presence of divine beings, of your ancestors, of Yalvar.
02:29:45.400I think that that, yeah, I think that that happens.
02:29:52.440I think that there's lots of people that know.
02:29:56.800And I often speak disparagingly of this, and I don't mean to.
02:30:03.080I just think it is a wrong place to finish.
02:30:06.980There's the, oh, I'm spiritual, not religious.
02:30:12.380Again, I roll pretty hard at that, but I get on one level, like, hey, this Christianity
02:30:19.200thing that feels wrong but i know that god in quotes exists and it's not that so what what is
02:30:31.040it and i think that very much is legitimate and leading to also true leading to legitimate
02:30:38.080religious expression um so there's a lot of people out there that are spiritual because they have not
02:30:46.560found right religion they've just seen religion that they don't want part of um and i do think
02:30:54.240that that's our folk recognizing the need and the draw back home to the isaiah this next one
02:31:03.600is a deep cut so good good on you for asking it what might the difference uh be between
02:31:13.200Odenskar, Odensakar, sorry, and Glysisvel. Are they in Hell or Asgard? So they're in Jotunheim,
02:31:30.560but that's a real deep cut and not something that's very fleshed out or mentioned very many times.
02:31:38.880and it's fascinating i think it's something that a lot a lot of the time skips a lot of our our
02:31:45.920you know our paying attention to and i think that's a really interesting question
02:31:52.120it's fun what what and i and i'll venture this the one exists in the other so it's a region of
02:32:03.260yeah there it's like is Tennessee the same place as America um
02:32:14.140but yeah the one the one exists within the other um but this is a really cool question
02:32:20.540and I'm impressed this one got asked um spawn what uh well okay I'm just etymologically
02:32:32.700Glysisveler is the glittering plane. And it's found in Odinsaka, which translates to deathless
02:32:48.320acre or undying lands. Svon, what say you on that? What do you have to offer on that?
02:32:57.400So one, you are correct. It is not mentioned often. It is these kind of little mentions in the Herrvervar saga. It's mentioned in like a line, but let's take a look at, first off, it's very clearly in Jotunheim, a spiritual abode in the middle world, or I should say the middle world.
02:33:25.720And then the middle world is surrounded Nivelheim, Mosbelheim, Vanaheim, and Jotunheim. Jotunheim is beyond the eyelashes, beyond the eyesight. It's the spiritual realm.
02:33:40.800And the first thing that looking at poetics, the glisis, the glittering almost like ice, the usage of the word meaning glittering and in relation to rhyme ice and this sense of the field of ice.
02:34:11.040where there is the glinting of light and again because the cosmology of our ancestors generally
02:34:18.240viewed that the sun and the moon moved over the the lands because the gods lived in the center
02:34:24.400in a mountain and the uh folk lived around them and then the bordering lands and so that's why
02:34:32.160all of the lands have names for the sun and the moon in um uh
02:34:40.800is uh that poem where they talk about that um one of the things that i
02:34:49.360immediately knew about this when they were talking about it was its connection to ice
02:34:56.800and preservation kind of like um mythologically building on the the frozen glittering plane
02:35:09.760where all things go perhaps in in reality in in in the middle world they die but yet do not age
02:35:18.800or ever change because they are frozen in time if you will and this mentioning i i kind of classify
02:35:29.520the deathless uh land or um as um kind of similar to the mound when um in the uh in the saga where
02:35:45.600um upon death a mound opens up and he sees his ancestors it's not necessarily that his
02:35:54.480ancestors are in that mound but that he is finding a gateway to hell guard where the ancestors are
02:36:03.600or it's it's a a framing of the ancestors i think this is a framing of an idea about this deathless
02:36:14.960nature and it was built up even more so to almost kind of facilitate uh kind of like a fountain of
02:36:23.940youth legend built into it and that's why it's only mentioned sporadically in these sagas and
02:36:32.180that it becomes the oh you know the if you can cross over into Jotunheim um you will find this
02:36:40.460deathless place. But I think it kind of also fits with the overarching symbolic nature of
02:36:47.440Jotunheim. Jotunheim isn't just death, isn't just consumption. You know, it is always the
02:36:57.800association of the mountain, of the frozen plain, of the light that skeins, and the timeless nature
02:37:07.760of the yotnar and how they are beings that are able to transcend the conventional measurements
02:37:16.900of time um time being like a measuring tape on a on a table we're trying to measure
02:37:24.900unknown points until we make them so time is that measuring tape but without it it's just
02:37:32.760it's undefinable so we use that and that's based off of movement and degradation of something over
02:37:41.400time as it as things go it degrades our bodies degrade uh the the beach erodes so on and so
02:37:50.740forth that's kind of how we or why we measure time linearly but there amongst the yacht nar
02:37:57.400In that land, there is the land of the undying. It's not held to the same strictures of time. And that is even emphasized in Thor's story where he goes and wrestles Ada, and she is time or old age herself.
02:38:22.180There's always large primordial concepts that come from Jotunheim in Utgard and beyond, and I kind of classify that as this.
02:38:35.160And I think that in the sagas, our ancestors that are mentioning this are kind of equating it to an option or a place that would be one place to go and attain this deathlessness because our ancestors did believe in the cosmology of the world in a planar triangle going up and a planar triangle going down.
02:47:35.640And Sigurdur, he who sated the ravens, he who fed them bodies, of the cargo god, the god of trade and commerce and goodwill.
02:47:48.080So with the gore of the host, with the bodies of the army, of the slain Hadings, of life was spoiled by the earth rulers at Oglo.
02:48:02.320so speaking specifically of a battle but there we see the again the door of the host the feeding of
02:48:12.160the ravens it's all in relation to lord odin and his ultimate it's not the only crucible but it is
02:48:22.180ultimate crucible uh that is war and the test of the soul and the hero um and you know you see this
02:48:33.520in um books like metaphysics of war or uh storm and steel these books show this crucible so it
02:48:43.100was not like it nobody understood it until those books were written no they were writing after the
02:48:49.980fact in explaining this this is what they're talking about so thus saying gloomer gay russon
02:49:00.640there the tear of triumph tear meaning god of triumph so like lord of victory or father of
02:49:12.140victory their tear of triumph himself inspired the terror of ships the gods of the breezes
02:49:23.180that favor good men steered them and this is in reference to that lord odin and his dynamicism
02:49:32.700one of the great powerful things about lord odin is being the godhead at the council table at the
02:49:43.660well of earth or all time the origination point is that his sway in the world pushing the the the
02:49:55.180the gods or spirits of the breezes to ferry the soldiers to battle.
02:50:04.460And we see this when he says to Holy Freya, I want you to start a war.
02:50:10.780So this is not outside of the realm of thinking.
02:50:13.440It's like that Lord Odin is constantly moving towards setting up those crucibles of the soul.
02:50:21.140and in this case hearkening the spirits of the breeze the gods of the breeze and um i wanted to
02:50:29.800see what the usage of the word uh god is because i do believe it's different in here um i can't
02:50:40.380quite find it in the old norse just yet um i'm looking looking i'm sorry i don't want to keep
02:50:50.460too long but um oh wait a minute yeah so here's ulver so we're gonna go up um
02:51:00.620yeah he's oh well he says like uh gods or he uses the the small g go the power the the divine
02:51:23.060powers whether they may be of uh vanir or or what have you it's the small lowercase gold it's like
02:51:34.580the powers of the wind he ferries tells them he encourages them to push the sailors on their boats
02:51:44.100to go and fight um at uh in in their um he steered them in favor and thus saying aivindir
02:51:58.180and skokul gautatir sent to choose from kings who of ingvi's kin should be with odin and be in valhav
02:52:14.100And I, you know, I think that's interesting that the differentiation between the two. Here we have Gauta, Gautatyr, that's Lord Odin, and he is choosing of Ingvi's kin, Ingvi being the descendants of Lord Frere in Sweden and the Geats.
02:55:46.940The doughty ship possessor, with sharpened words and soothed fast, lures our land the patient, barely-locked wife of Thridi.
02:56:04.660Here is an example of this metaphor, that in Posi the earth is called the wife of Odin.
02:56:13.240Here is told what Ivander sang. Before we step into that, again, when we talk about the, or excuse me, not barely locked, barley locked wife, barley of the earth, the giving earth.
02:56:31.240Now, we know that the earth is spectrumed.
02:56:38.020Another thing that the Norena Society has a tendency to do is cultivate that everything is Odin and that the earth is kind of seen as a singularity.
02:56:53.660When we know the heavenly aspects and the earthly aspects are intricate and have their own variant forms, whether we're talking about Yarth, whether we're talking about GrÃðr, whether we're talking about Gerðr with Lord Frey, the earth and the feminine.
02:57:15.000But in this specific case, it is the mother of Thor, the barley-locked wife of Thridi III, because he is the dynamic lord, the tripartite within the tripartite.
02:57:30.420He is of amongst and in the relationship with the brothers who are Vili and Vey.
02:57:39.580So, 3D gives birth to Lord Thor, and that's because we know of it being spoken of in earlier stories, that the Earth gives birth to Lord Thor via Odin is his father.
02:58:51.920So this is another example of post-death ascension that Bragi and Hermodur are saying, a prince, a prince, go, we bid that you greet him as he comes into your hall, for he is great.
02:59:13.220and that section uh there um i believe it's referring to eric the blood axe but
02:59:21.360not 100 sure on that um so another point of lord odin they so these examples thus saying
02:59:32.700the giver of lands lord odin the giver of lands who bindeth the sail to the top
02:59:42.980with golden lace honors him who pours god's verse mead poetry oven wrought charms upon render
02:59:54.980another uh reference there to one of the goddesses of the earth and or the chthonic of the lower
03:00:04.640um render her name is ice uh the rind ice and she is the mother of valley who sometimes can be
03:00:15.300kind of classified as the god of uh vengeance or revenge in the sense of balancing out after
03:00:24.620balder is slain so revenge is served cold quite literally in our stories um render is
03:00:34.380is humanized in Saxo Grammaticus and his telling he makes it to where Lord Odin is some evil warlock
03:00:44.880who tricks her and rapes her. Rindur is brought in as the one who begets Vali. So we have the
03:00:59.520begetting of Thor we have the begetting of Balder we have the begetting of Vali and he ties the sail
03:01:07.140to the top with gold lace I like that one and I've pondered that one a lot and the only thing I
03:01:13.220I really kind of try to poetically get that is um his connection to the sack uh the mast or the the
03:01:26.140Sail at the top being Yggdrasil, being tied himself to the top of the tree.
03:01:35.400But I might be wrong or I might be reading that differently.
03:01:39.200I'm still looking into that, but right now that's kind of where I'm at.
03:03:33.440but now there is a connection of death
03:03:36.740to balder and so that that um road that processes is now affecting his own son in a way um
03:03:51.460there i think the valkyries there i you know i perceive
03:03:55.220that death and the ravens of victorious odin now do follow even to the blood of holy balder
03:04:02.740um with old tales with song with poetry the hall is painted the stories are to be told
03:04:13.400whether this is referencing to hell guard or the current poem i don't know but um
03:04:22.480thus sang ayl skatla grimson we know that one there's we're just talking about it
03:04:32.740No victims for this to Vili's brother, which is Lord Odin, the high god I offer glad to behold him, yet has Mimir's friend, Lord Odin, on me bestowed amends of evil which I account better.
03:04:52.400he has given me the art he the wolf's opposer accustomed to battle of blemish blameless
03:05:02.780so i love the of blemish he has been untouched in war he is it's not that he's blameless of
03:05:11.440some crime is no he has no scratch or scathe on his armor he is blameless of blemish
03:05:19.760um here he is called high god and friend of mimir and adversary of the wolf so there in that last
03:05:33.420part snorri is simply stating the usage of it to the scald in a excerpt from eoskala grimson
03:05:44.340and his poetics which and he didn't write it down it was memorized after he said it and spread
03:05:53.480generation after generation until simon and snorty and his team of uh writers that were
03:06:03.460chronologically putting everything down wrote this down
03:06:08.020So, thus sang Rether, swift god of the slain that wieldeth the snowy billows, wave hawks, the ship's sails, the wave hawks, the snowy billow, the wind that is caught in a sail.
03:06:35.680the ships that drive the sea road sea roads pretty clear to thee we owe the dwarves drink
03:06:44.260so because of you we should toast the dwarves because they have given us kvasir's blood
03:06:54.460it's kind of a tongue-in-cheek way of saying that yes the the dwarves were the reason why
03:07:33.540God's mead cask freely. It is my time to stand up and speak poetry. That's what he's saying
03:07:41.140is to pour the mead out or the liquor as it's translated here. He says, it's my time to pour
03:07:47.940the liquor of the host God's mead cask freely before the ship's swift speeder. For this,
03:07:54.500i win no scorning so i i will speak and i will speak freely and with great skill uh before
03:08:06.740the before the ship's swift speeder i don't know if he's speaking on the ship or before a battle
03:08:12.820but he says no one will hold me to scorn for it because i am dispensing the sacred mead of poetry
03:08:19.300Thus sang Ulver Ugesan, his steed, the lordly Heimdallr, spurs to the pyre gods' building for the fallen sons of Odin, the all-wise raven ruler.
03:08:37.900so um you know in this part two the his steed the lordly heim dollar spurs to the pyre gods
03:08:47.920uh the translation says builded and i don't know if that's spelt right but
03:08:53.480in essence too this is hang dotler fills in um and i spoke about the tripartite i've spoken
03:09:02.260about the tripartite in lots of different ways one of the points is stasis the watchman standing
03:09:10.040at the edge of heaven but what moved lord heimdall to leave his station was the death of baldur the
03:09:21.620lord of the pyre so the lord of the pyre he spurned his horse to the funeral for the fallen son of
03:09:30.760Odin, the all-wise raven ruler. That's what that section of the poem is referring to.
03:09:38.980This is said in Eriksmaur, or Eriksmaur. What dream is that, quoth Odin? I thought to rise
03:09:50.860ere daybreak, to make Valhall ready for troops of the slain. I roused the champions and bade
03:09:58.440them rise swiftly benches to strew to wash the beer flagons the valkyria to pour wine as a prince
03:10:07.040were coming and this is in reference to uh eric the blood axe um and his arrival in to uh valhall
03:10:17.860and again historically he did not die in battle so there was the post ascension in that referencing
03:10:27.700in in that poem so reading eric's maul or uh eric's saga you'll see that poem and it kind of
03:10:36.540goes beyond even his death and speaks about his ascension into uh the realm and interestingly so
03:10:45.120you know that i believe ale uh ascended and eric ascended but i think that brothers in ascension
