February is a month of holidays, holy days, and days of remembrance of our people. We start the month off with a day of remembrance for King Enfrith of Buternicia, who was an early 7th century Saxon ruler who, after years in exile and a brief conversion, under pressure, courageously reclaimed both his throne and his ancestral faith, renouncing the foreign Christian baptism he had accepted while living amongst the Scots to once again stand in truth with the Alesir and uphold the native beliefs of his people. Although his reign was short and ended tragically in betrayal during a peace mission, his bold restoration of Alcetru in Northumbria, choosing loyalty to our gods and our folk over ease and safety, marks him as a powerful example of devotion to ancestral duty and spiritual integrity for all Alcetruar. And we round out the month with our holiday on February 21st with Disithing, which is an ancient seasonal ritual celebrated at the beginning of the planting year that embodies the alceturar duty to actively engage with the world, honor the gods, and take responsibility for the well-being of our folk.
