00:01:10.780 and other business associates that were flagged as suspicious activity by U.S. banks.
00:01:17.880 Even a trusted FBI informant has alleged a bribe to the Biden family.
00:01:27.940 Biden used his official office to coordinate with Hunter Biden's business partners about Hunter's

00:01:39.820 Finally, despite these serious allegations, it appears that the President's family has been
00:01:49.020 offered special treatment by Biden's own administration, treatment that not otherwise would have

00:01:59.260 These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption, and they warrant further investigation
00:02:09.320 by the House of Representatives.
00:02:12.020 That's why today I am directing our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President

00:02:20.560 This logical next step will give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and

00:08:58.400 Congressman Gaetz, is the beginning of the impeachment inquiry, you clearly rattled McCarthy.
00:09:03.040 They came back and they ran out and did this thing at 11 o'clock.
00:09:05.480 Is that not good enough for you?
00:09:06.680 Is that not going to buy him some time?
00:09:10.640 My goal is not to rattle Kevin McCarthy, but to motivate him to do what he said he was going
00:09:16.280 to do during the speaker contest in January, and I think what I showcased today is that
00:09:21.200 I was really serious about those commitments.
00:09:23.660 I'm not willing to just let those go by the Wade side like all the other Washington commitments

00:09:30.880 That's why Kevin McCarthy fought so hard against the one-member motion to vacate, because he knew

00:09:41.020 Now, as for the inquiry itself, Steve, we could go back and watch the videos in January
00:09:46.020 of this year when Kevin McCarthy was gaslighting the Dickens out of an impeachment of Alejandro

00:09:53.440 He'd run down there to Texas and say, boy, he was going to get that impeachment inquiry
00:09:57.260 rolling on the border and on Mayorkas, and if any Republican stood in his way, well, that
00:10:03.640 would mean that they were an impediment to impeachment.
00:10:06.360 So, you know, one of the things I've learned watching the war room is pattern recognition.
00:10:10.280 So here's the pattern.
00:10:12.080 Kevin McCarthy sees his power challenged.
00:10:15.060 He gaslights an impeachment inquiry, and then the actual work goes undone.
00:10:21.040 If we were serious about holding the Biden crime family to account, why have we not sent

00:10:29.520 Why have we not engaged in the vertically integrated subpoena strategy that I have laid out multiple

00:10:45.160 That's what the January 6th committee did, and I'm not too good to learn a little bit from

00:10:50.080 But we didn't deploy those tactics because what we saw was fundamentally unserious.
00:10:54.960 Joe Biden deserves impeachment.
00:10:56.980 And if Kevin McCarthy puts that on some protracted, sort of wandering endeavor, then we will have

00:11:07.760 But while impeachment is critically important for the rule of law and for fairness, I do
00:11:12.060 not want to lose sight of the commitments that were made on spending.
00:11:16.260 The only real way you attack the administrative state, it's not with press releases, and it's
00:11:21.980 not with tweets, and it's not even with grandiose speeches.
00:11:25.480 The way you attack the administrative state is to line by line, tweeze through at a programmatic
00:11:31.660 level, the budgetary requests that come in.
00:11:36.080 And if we did that with each individual agency and set weeks and months aside to do it, we
00:11:42.620 would actually probably be shamed into putting the interests of the American people above the
00:11:47.940 interests of the lobbyists and the political action committees who run this town and for
00:11:52.760 far too long have run Kevin McCarthy.
00:11:56.220 The center of gravity of your speech was about spending and about the CR.
00:12:00.680 Are you foreshadowing a showdown that's going to take place before midnight on the 30th of
00:12:06.220 September about the spending and about the appropriations?
00:12:09.120 We were promised that all the cuts would come to appropriations.
00:12:11.980 Are you foreshadowing right now that you are going to single-handedly with your colleagues
00:12:17.100 20, 30, 40, force the Biden regime to shut down the government?
00:12:22.340 Well, Steve, you know, my grandfather was a prairie populist in North Dakota, and he always
00:12:27.480 used to say, don't tell me about your values.
00:12:30.260 Show me your checkbook and your calendar, and I can tell you what your values are.
00:12:34.600 So right now, if you were to look at the calendar of the House, we've spent a lot of time on
00:12:39.440 post offices. We've had days where the only thing we voted on are the rules for the next vote on a
00:12:45.620 subsequent day. And now here we are backed up against the government funding deal running out,
00:12:51.200 and they're trying to fast roll a bunch of these appropriations to the floor. I just think that is
00:12:58.820 so indicative of how this place has worked. And it's not a bug of the system. It's a feature.
00:13:04.380 So yes, a show that, look, what I would prefer is for Speaker McCarthy to reflect on the agreement
00:13:11.620 he made in January, observe the political conditions that we have, and come into compliance
00:13:17.180 with this agreement. That is my preference. My preference is not to file a motion to vacate.
00:13:22.480 You know why? As I sit here and talk to you, I don't really know how that ends. And it's not
00:13:27.280 guaranteed that it won't get worse before it has to get better. But one thing I do know is that
00:13:32.580 you get treated in this town exactly like you allow yourself to get treated. And if House
00:13:38.280 conservatives are willing to be McCarthy's coalition partner on the frivolous, and then
00:13:43.560 watch him partner up with Hakeem Jeffries on the spending and the substantive, then we are clowns.
00:13:49.200 And that is not what we fought in January for. Now, you know, you said back then that that was the
00:13:54.120 five, six days that changed the world. And I admonished to you that that was false, because the
00:13:59.080 only thing we had done in January was develop a toolkit. And if we spend our time admiring those
00:14:04.780 tools and saying how shiny and pretty they are, and if we don't use them, then people will suffer
00:14:10.780 and it will be our fault. So I'm ready to pick up some of these tools and to put them to work for
00:14:15.380 the American people on exactly the same thing I've been saying since January.

00:19:47.080 but Joe Biden was involved in Hunter's business deals.

00:21:42.720 who have saved a little money, have watched our poor decisions diminish what they have,

00:21:50.320 and fundamentally alter their quality of life everywhere from the grocery store to the gas station
00:21:54.720 to whether or not they could take a vacation with their loved ones.
00:21:57.320 And as that's going on, you have Republicans and Democrats lining up to hold hands to send another $28 billion over to Ukraine,
00:22:05.480 even seeking to lash that money to what we would all agree to do to support our fellow Americans in Hawaii.
00:22:11.480 And so there is an anxiousness and anxiety, and there were moments that were not comfortable for me
00:22:17.740 because I saw people come up to me and really take measure of whether or not I was serious about the work I have been doing to change Washington
00:22:26.720 or whether or not I'm going to allow this place to continue to do what it's always done,
00:22:32.000 burning away the future of our fellow Americans,
00:22:34.520 making decisions for foreign elites abroad and special interests here at home.
00:22:38.140 And I know that my future, that the way I'm remembered here,
00:22:43.900 will not be lashed to Kevin McCarthy if he chooses failure theater over action.
